Britax Safe-n-Sound Millenia

Easy to install and use – After hours and hours of research about the safest car seats on the market, I chose the Millenia and I am very glad that I did! My husband and I installed the seat in about ten minutes. The tension indicator that turns green when the straps are tight enough is a godsend. I love that this car seat can face rearwards for up to two years, which is the safest position for Bub to be in. I also think that it is great value for money, since I won’t need to buy another car seat until Bub is 4.
The only downside to this seat is likely common to most 0-2+ convertible seats: for a newborn the head support isn’t very snug and you might feel tempted to purchase additional padding for the first few months. Now that Bub can support his own head it isn’t an issue but if I were to take him on longer trips in the first few weeks I would have had to buy a head support insert.
All in all I am very happy with my purchase so far and highly recommend this product to expecting parents.
Good but awkward – This seat looks good, seems comfortable for out baby so far after using from birth to 4 months and was easy enough to install. The main issue I have with this car seat is that it is very difficult to get a baby in and out of it while in rearward facing setup. I have to be careful to get her out without bending my little one's back. My wife who is much shorter than me cannot use it which is a problem.
Love our Millenias – Love our Millenias. I’ve just been in a car accident and both my toddler & baby were unharmed in their Millenia car seats. Obviously I’m now looking for replacements. Very disappointed to see they have been discontinued. Why replace them with something bigger & dearer? The graphene is already nearly too small for my 10 month old. Show details · 1
Great seat, however worried about why it’s now “retired” – A really great car seat with amazing safety and comfort features. I was wanting to buy another one for my new child however I’ve since discovered they have discontinued/“retired” this seat. I am concerned as there isn’t full disclosure as to why, just another range coming out but not a direct replacement like other models? I now worry this seat has been discontinued because it’s not safe… Show details · 1
Best child seat I have ever owned – After a nine-year age gap between bub #4 (born 2008) and #5 (born 2017) I was a little overwhelmed on the quantity of information out there about child car seats and how much had changed since my first bub (born 2000). After hours and hours of research I found the Britax Safe -n-Sound Millenia and quickly started sourcing review (from here of… Read more · 1
course). I was lucky enough to get one at Babies R Us at a price of $399 (floor model) as the staff said they were not going to be getting any more in at that time (lag in supply). This seat was the best one around to meet our needs, and it looked so protective, and I was so sold on the no thread harness. My daughter turned 4 in Jul 2021 and is still rear facing and is still well under the height markers to turn forward. Since this type of seat (ERF) was non-existent in 2000 I am thankful for ingenuity, time, research, and love that has been put in to make child seat like this. I cannot praise this seat enough for providing my little girl with a safe way to travel in the car. Thank you Britax - Safe and sound.
Pros - - fits smaller kids for longer in the refacing position
- has no re thread harness that is super easy to adjust with out removing from the car and whilst the bub is in the seat
- It is safe and comfy for newborn to bub hits the highest height marker (my bub still well under at 4 yrs old)
- excellent head and torso protection from a side impact
- Isofix option for cars that have it (our 2019 Kia Carnival)
- Very easy to remove the cover, which is machine washable and always comes up a treat
- Fit really well in our 2019 Kia Carnival
Cons - - I do not like the way the harness holders (grey rubber slots on the sides) work, as the harness tongues (latch plates – metal prongs with the holes in them that click into the crotch buckle) falls out when putting my daughter in her seat every time (magnetic or a clip type one like on the B-First would be better)
- I always have to fight with it (mainly after a deep clean when out of the car) to set it from forward facing mode back to rear facing after cleaning. The mechanism is fiddley
- did not install very well in our 2012 XR6 Ford Falcon sedan. It is a vehicle seat belt issue (the new click tight tec on the B-First looks look it would solve this issue we have)

Really happy with this car seat – We're really happy with the Britax safe-n-sound Millenia. We looked at a few and chose to go with this as it has great padding and head support. I feel my baby is very safe in this car seat. It's easy to adjust and fits perfectly in my Mazda 3. Show details · 1

Shoulder pad found over baby's face! – I am surprised this car seat has so many good reviews given the safety issues, and I am also surprised these were overlooked in the design. The cushions (side etc) are loose and are not attached to the car seat. Thus, they can easily come loose and cover our baby's face and we wouldn't know as the car seat is rear facing and we can't keep an eye… Read more
on her while driving. Also, as these are supposed to protect our baby's head from impact, what good are they if they are loose and not attached properly to the structure of the car seat? Not sure why these aren't built into the car seat. On that note, the shoulder pads are also loose and don't cover the shoulder straps properly. I was rather horrified to pull over and find one of them was completely covering baby's face (she had pulled it up with her hands, because it doesn't sit snugly on the shoulder strap and slides around). I almost had a heart attack when I found her like that, and thought she was not breathing, and was relieved to find she was okay. I have since removed these (which you can do by unbuttoning). For the price, you expect a better design that doesn't pose a suffocation risk... Also, please be wary of the installation. We had ours professionally installed and it was done incorrectly. The installer (authorised by the RTA to install car seats) did not put it in recline mode while reverse facing, so it was at a 90 degree angle. Having it like this with a young baby with no head control is an asphyxiation risk. I should also add that the shoulder strap doesn't sit very comfortably. Tightening it seems to crush baby's shoulders (push down on them from over the top of her shoulders), without actually tightening the harness at the front of her chest. So chest remains loose while top of shoulders too tight. Our other car seat, you can adjust each strap individually and tightening it fixes how each strap sits on the chest, while adjusting the actual height over the shoulder is a separate strap. On this model, it's one strap to tighten the whole thing, on top of the shoulders and over the chest - both straps. And as mentioned, it only crushes the top of the shoulder while the straps across the chest remains too loose to be safe. Overall due to all these issues, I would definitely not recommend this car seat and really regret spending $1000 for two of them.

Best car seat for comfort, safety, value and practicality – My husband installed the car seat, it did take a while as we wanted to check and double check it was done correctly but it really wasn’t that difficult. Isofix makes it easy. Our baby has always been comfortable in this seat, we didn’t bother with a capsule and instead chose this seat as it should suit up to 4 years. Friends of ours went with a… Read more · 1
capsule which they returned after 3 months as it was too heavy to lug in and out anyway and their baby hated being curled up in it. They then bought a Millenia on our recommendation and love it too. Our baby is tall and on the higher end of the weight percentile and at 9 months is still comfortably rear facing. I have a CX5 and it fits fine, my husband is very tall but is still able to have the drivers seat far enough back to be comfortable. I find this seat so easy to use, we bought another cheaper seat for my husbands car which we don’t use often and I really notice the difference. The Millenia fabric is lovely and soft, the padding is comfortable, straps are easy to clip in and out and the push button to loosen the straps to get baby out is really easy to use. Compared to the cheaper seat we have with an awkward lever to loosen straps it is a nightmare! I wish we’d spent another $200 and just gotten another Millenia in my husbands car too. It also is just so much safer with the head support. Highly recommend.
Number 1 Car Seat – This is one of the many baby items I researched thoroughly. I was surprised and horrified to learn how many car seats don't pass safety checks by Choice! I place my trust in this car seat completely and when I had it installed by RACT the woman said what an excellent car seat it was. With my pregnancy brain taking over I wasn't able to get my… Read more
head around the instructions so I had it installed professionally to be on the safe side. The lady at RACT managed to install it in about 5-10 minutes and once we saw how you install it realised just how easy it would have been to do it ourselves.
Like anything new it takes some practice to get used to just remembering how to clip up and undo. DO PRACTICE AT HOME FIRST BEFORE YOUR LITTLE ONE IS READY TO GO HOME. I can't stress that enough. My husband and I both learned how to use it but by the time bubby was due we'd both forgotten! There we were in the parking lot of the Hospital in the freezing cold at eight at night trying to figure it out! That, I do not recommend.
I have found Bub gets quite warm in this car seat so don't over dress bub and just take a blanket in case they seem cold.
Bubby does love going in the car, he looks around for a while then goes off to sleep. He must be comfy!
I haven't regretted buying this instead of a capsule, I did um and ah about that for a while but I haven't had a problem taking bub out while he's asleep.
I also love that he can be rear facing for such a long time compared to other car seats. The only thing is, because it's designed to be rear facing for a long time it is quite bulky and you will need lots of room for it in the car. I have a big wagon and the front passenger seat is quite squishy now!
I am really pleased with the quality of this seat, I have no doubt it will last the test of time and I feel 100% safe putting my bubby in it, would definitely recommend this product.

Love this car seat!! – Car seat is awesome! We upgraded to this from a Capsule when our daughter turned 1. She looks so comfortable and love the isofix feature, makes it so much easier to install. Very sturdy and a lot of padding. Show details · 1
Great sturdy car seat – We got this car seat from day 1 and now baby is turning 1. Feels very sturdy and well designed. Got the grey colour and its also easy to clean. Recommend it to anyone after baby car seat. Show details · 1
Could not fault! – This seat has everything needed including isofix and doesn’t take up to much space in the car. Reclines suitable for newborn (reward facing) and super cosy. Overall very happy with my purchase. Show details · 1

Straps constantly jamming, easy for child to get arms out – Purchased this seat brand new and have always had the issue of the straps jamming. The metal buckle in the back is always catching the straps making it hard to do up and awkward to get your hand in to unhook the jam. This issue means tuts never tight enough and now my toddler can easily get her arms out of it, and with daily highway driving just isn’t safe. Am in the market for something better. Show details

It’s good but too big for small baby – I bought from eBay when there was a good deal. It’s not cheap but safe, and the design is beautiful. Very easy to install and there is instructions on YouTube how to install it. But it’s too big for my baby for the first three months and I cannot use it until my baby grow up after 3 months. Now he enjoys it and easily to fall asleep when we driving him out.
Really disappointed – The seat is easy to install, simple to clean. However, the seat itself seems very uncomfortable for my son. The straps around his legs dig in and leave deep red marks no matter how much I try to adjust the straps. The only way they wouldn’t dig in is if it was loose which would defeat the purpose of him being safe in a car seat. He is only 3… Read more
months old and I have removed the padding to see if that would help but he is to small to not have the padding there for him. It just makes me very sad that I have paid good money for a car seat and loved all of the features but with how uncomfortable my son is I try to avoid putting him in the car all together

great comfy seat – So far very happy with the seat. We bought it to replace the capsule at 6 months, and our daughter seems to like it very much. Soft fabric, very easy to install and move from side to side, looks solid yet soft and comfy. The only negative is perhaps that the buckle seems to see way to low so that the belts are pushing into the thighs but our bub doesn't complain. Very good overall! Show details · 1
Very safe, very happy with model and brand – After being in a head on collision, my 2year old safley seated in britax millienia came out the accident unharmed ( apart from minor whiplash ) i am so thankful we chose this model and brand, britex also replaced the car seat with no charge in their crash exchange program. I would highly recommend this comapany, make and model. Show details · 1
Best car seat! – We purchased this car seat for our first baby and so far so great! It meets all the australian standards in safety, we use it since he was born so little, the pads on it make it fit perfectly, we removed them as he was growing and there are red lines on the back that tells you when to stretch the back to fit the seat belt perfectly, so comfy and has pockets for a drink bottle and snacks, we love Britax! Great Carseat – Great secure car seat, easy to use, comfortable and extended rear facing. I love this car seat. Have used it for both my girls and it is still going strong. Excellent investment for long term. Show details · 1
Amazing – We have just upgraded to this seat for our 8-month-old. It is so comfortable and lush compared to the previous two we have had. Everything is easy to use and I feel confident in having a highly safety rated seat for my child. We haven't had it long but it is already living up to the Britax reputation. Show details · 1
Great car seat but it is big – Great car seat, soft and comfy for bubs. It is a big seat and didn’t fit in out RAV4 and just fits in our Elantra, until bubs gets taller. Love how easy it is to change strap positions. Easy to install, easy to wash fabrics and they are quick to dry. Extended rear facing is awesome. All up great seat if it fits in your car. Love it! – I love my Millenia, my girl looks so happy and comfy in it. The only negative is the size, it is behind the passenger so the front doesn't have much room at all, but too annoying for everyday use in the middle. Show details · 1
I love this car seat – Not only does the Millenia look nice but its also looks very comfortable for my baby to sit in. It feels sturdy and well made. I had it professionally installed originally but when we turned the seat to forward facing my husband did it. It was easy for him to do. I love this car seat and would highly recommend. Love it! – I chose this carseat after researching into the extended rear facing convertible carseats available in Australia. I instantly fell in love with it when it arrived. to maintain a tight install - the stabilisation bar - the teeth that hold the restraint out of the way while you place your baby/child into the carseat - the headrest adjuster - the harness adjuster
- the ease of both installing and uninstalling the carseat
And I just honestly love my choice of carseat. It looks and feels of high quality and durability. I'm definitely going to stay with Britax as my choice of child carseat restraints.
Great baby seat – Love this baby seat, very easy to use but it's probably a little too big for the mazda 3, it makes the front seat a little squished but still usable Show reply

car seat is not difficult depending on you car you have. The manual does tell you everything you need to install it properly. They also have YouTube videos to help you. If in doubt, go and watch how the professional install it, but do your homework first to know the parts, so the professional can teach you how to install the seat once for all.
Perfect! So happy with this purchase! – We have used this seat since the day our bubby was born. It's soft and comfy - and feels really safe for her. It isn't too hot - so bubby doesn't get overheated. It holds bub in a good posture and it's easy to get her in and out of. It takes up a fair bit of room in rear facing, but it's worth it for the safety element. And it's definitely growing with bubs too. Show details · 1
LOVE THIS SEAT!! – I purchased this seat for my son and used it since the day he was born. It has so much padding which is super soft and comfy. I’ve used another seat which I feel folds him in half and made his chin touch his chest.
