Beyond disappointing - Distressing – We strongly advise everyone avoid purchasing a battery operated recliner lounge from Nick Scali based on our experience.

BATTERIES ARE EXPENSIVE AND UNRELIABLE - All five batteries failed within 18 months of purchase. - The first three were replaced under warranty but only after significant delays. - Replacement batteries cost $345 each. BATTERIES ARE HIGH MAINTENANCE - The technician advised batteries must be charged every two weeks whether in use or not. - Had we known this we would not have made the purchase.

WARRANTY ON BATTERIES NOT HONOURED - Customer Service refer only to the warranty period of the lounge even though the Nick Scali Lithium Ion Battery Packs Warranty Information "warrants that any Lithium Ion Battery Pack supplied by Nick Scali will be free from manufacturing defects for a period of 12 months".

Customer Service stopped communicating with us when we quoted from the company's own Lithium Ion Battery Packs Warranty Information and our questions have not been answered. This standard response to a review is not a genuine request as the information has already been provided.

Our experience is not an isolated case as it's remarkably similar to that of other reviewers of battery operated recliners.

The service team have advised batteries can be replaced at a cost of $345 each. We currently have three batteries to be replaced so this would be a charge of $1035. One of these batteries has previously been replaced under warranty within the last 12 months. Nick Scali will not replace this battery under the terms of the battery warranty and refers only to the warranty period of the lounge.

The purpose of our review is to warn potential buyers of similar products. We do not wish to replace the batteries with the same model as we have no confidence in the product. We don't believe Nick Scali should continue selling battery operated recliner lounges with Kaidi (KDDY022A) battery packs installed.

Our issue has now been resolved. The QLD Government Office of Fair Trading contacted Nick Scali on our behalf. The company then provided us with five replacement batteries at no cost. Importantly, these batteries are a more modern, smaller style of battery than those which failed. Information on the battery directs users to charge it every 3 months.

We were very impressed by the Office of Fair Trading's process and the efficiency of the officer who resolved our case.
