a very good service for those of us that need that extra help
I too have had terrible experiences with Australian Unity, similar to what is described by other clients and relatives of clients. I am interested in… Read more
connecting with other complainants to bring our concerns to the federal parliament at large. If we can come together, our concerns will have more impact.
If I had known before today - after some minor research - that Australian Unity had been required by the Fair Work Ombudsman to repay more than $11 million in underpayments to over 12,000 aged‑care and home‑care workers, I would not have engaged them for my Home Care Package, and I am shocked that the Federal Government would utilise them at all in aged care, where the cohort is generally so vulnerable.
That regulatory history shows systemic failures in workforce management, payroll compliance, and organisational governance.
My own experience over the last three and a half years reflects the same instability: missed services; services not requested, or cancelled timely sent anyway; cancellations, without explanation of services agreed to; severely overdue services, that compromise health and safety; poor communication, including continual failure to respond timely - or at all - to emails especially in relation to servicing bungles; and other unsafe gaps in care.
I am now raising these issues with parliament because the pattern is too consistent to ignore.

Great value for money – I've been with this company since 2011, so only 2 years so far. I first heard about them by doing research on canstar and they were recommended and… Read more
had MUCH lower premiums than other companies. My first premium for both home AND contents was under $400!! How they do that, I'm not sure so I was a bit unsure at first and read the policy very carefully. It looks ok to me in comparison to others and for the cover we need. Each year I've done another evaluation and they still come out on top. It sounds like the other reviewers on this site who actually have cover with Australian Unity (Calliden) have good experiences with claims as well, so hopefully if that time comes for me I will be equally satisfied. I did have a very long phone conversation yesterday to discuss the policy in detail and was extremely impressed by the Calliden representative. She was very friendly, well informed and never made me feel rushed.
The only company that was close to comparison in price was Cominsure (now the top canstar company) but they have very bad customer reviews. The only downside I can see so far is that they only have 1 excess for home and contents (so can't be less for contents)- but on the good side, you only pay the one excess even if your claim involves both. Now I'm just trying to get the most accurate estimate of building, demolition and architect costs so I can be sure we have the right amount of cover. Value for money, inexpensive, good customer service Only 1 excess for both home and contents

review them so I have put it here.
The transition has been poorly managed from the start. Months later there is still limited access to accounts, unclear information around contributions, and ongoing delays with the investor portal despite repeated assurances that it is “coming soon”.
Trying to contact support has been incredibly frustrating. I have made multiple attempts to get assistance and have either been unable to get through or promised callbacks that never happened. Last week I finally spoke with a polite consultant who escalated my concerns to a manager and advised I would receive a callback the same day. More than a week later, still nothing.
This is not the level of service you expect when trusting a company with long-term investments for your children’s future. Customers should not have to chase basic information or feel like an inconvenience.
At this stage I am seriously considering withdrawing my investments and moving to a provider with competent systems, communication, and customer service.
Very disappointing experience.
