A cheap offering, damaging the Metabo brand! – On 17/01/23 I took delivery of a Metabo KS 216 M drop saw. Despite it's professional appearance, it fails to meet some basic standards. Let's start… Read more
with the least important thing which is "dust extraction", and move down. It's almost non existent. As can be seen from my photos, far more sawdust ends up on the saw base than goes up into the collection bag. There were only four cuts taken to produce this amount of dust. As I'm now stuck with this saw, I'll see what I can organize in terms of having a vacuum cleaner attached to it.
Now for the all important workpiece clamp, again as can be seen from my photos, if you place the clamp on the right side of the saw, there is no space for the saw body (and blade) to descend into. Therefore it cannot be used in the vertical position. Let's look at the alternative horizontal position. As I have illustrated in the last photo, this would only be suitable for a piece of wood at least as thick as the round part of the clamp head. Any other scenario would be very dangerous. This limits it's horizontal use quite significantly.
Absolutely the most disappointing fault with this saw is it's inability to give accurate cuts. Let me explain. The first thing I did with this saw was to cut a block of wood (as seen in one picture) at 90 degrees and check it with my highly accurate engineers' square. The cut was way off. I loosened the four bolts holding the fence and adjusted it to be exactly square to my blade (perpendicular). I then did a re-cut and found it was still off. I played with this until I got it to the point of being reasonable. I then moved the saw table to the 15 degree position from the direction of the right. I moved it back to the 90 degree position and did another cut, only to find my cut was way off again. I then realized that there is a huge inaccuracy in the "stops" for the mitre settings. Move the table from one direction and "feel" the 15 degree stop, then go to the other direction and back to 15 degree stop and there is a visible difference as to where it stops. I have illustrated this fact in photos. The net effect of this means that unless I set it at 90 degrees and leave it there, any time I want to cut any angle other than 90, let's say 30 degrees, firstly I have to check that it is 30 degrees, and when I'm finished re check my 90 degree setting. To summarize this observation, the "stop points" for the mitre table are loose and sloppy. It's just sheer good luck if you stop at the right place! I bought this saw to do small work like jewelery boxes etc. so accuracy was my top priority. I have completely wasted my money as this saw is suitable for house framing and not much else. There seems little point writing about the few things I like about this saw, as it's inaccuracy overshadows and outweighs everything else.
Made in Metabo, or made in China – 1- My first disappointment was due to trusting that this lawn mower is made in Germany. Well it isn't. It is made in China. 2- The second… Read more
disappointment was due to trusting that the redemption request for the battery/charger pack will be easily done. Well, you couldn't. That part of the website was down for 8 days. 3- The third disappointment was because of trusting that the batteries and charges will be received reasonably soon after requesting for the redemption. Well they won't. After completing the redemption form, and in the next page, you are notified that your request will be processed in 2 to 4 weeks time, and if out of stock, the delivery times may be extended.
I am not sure about the quality of this item yet, as I haven't received the batteries and charger yet. But, my first impressions were totally terrible, and I just wanted to share it with everyone.
Metabo WEB 15-125 Quick

and going. I have been through at least 4 sets of brushes in this grinder, I use it day in day out for about 4 hours a day , I thought it would have burnt out months ago but it has a temperature protection circuit that shuts it down to stop it getting burnt out from overheating, best thing ever that was put into a grinder as all the other brands just won't cop hard punishment.
You can buy this brand with confidence, yeah it is double the price of the China junk but you will get more than double your moneys worth at least.

then 12 months the wheels are that worn out they fall out on every use, the latches that hold the vacuum to the wast bin are too weak and snap continuously, the power outlet has fallen back inside the machine and not only do Metabo refuse to warrant any of these problems they want $140 to replace the power output connection. If your looking for a trade quality vacuum look past Metabo!

machine from the box I first noticed that the plastic hinge of the blade storage cover was broken. I would have been ok with that as its just cosmetic, BUT, after setting up the mitre gauge, I noticed how misaligned the slot rails are on the table. There is way too much play on the mitre fence to make an accurate cut. When you adjust the pieces of plastic that would reduce play, the mitre fence would get stuck in one place and have lots of play in another area of the slot rails. VERY uneven. I thought it was perhaps a one off faulty machine, I took it back and ordered another one. SAME ISSUE! This time even the mitre guage's rail that is attached to the mitre fence had play in it. I checked that all the screws were correctly tightened which it was, so its just poor design or quality control. The biggest issue for me was the guide rail/fence, it had so much play/movent that its impossible to lock it straight without a huge amount of effort. Once again poor design and quality control. Such a let down product from Metabo. If it all worked it would be an amazing machine with all the features of the machine, but unfortunately it seems like they tried to cut costs by building an inferior product and rather made the "features" the selling point. Taking it back tomorrow for a refund.
Average product, not outstanding – I had this sander for quite some times, probably over 10 years and used occasionally for home maintenance and small craft projects. I was thinking… Read more
being a German product, it should be excellent but I found the sander is pretty average in key areas, for example, vibration, noise, and in particular the rotary pad doesn't last long, the velcro is weak and fairly is easily damaged. Replacement pads are expensive. So I stopped buying Metabo products. But please consider this review in the context of timing as technology has advanced and Metabo products may be better, I sincerely don't know.

South Africa and spares too expensive to consider repairs. This was not on a grinder but on the rotary hammer drill KHE 2851 i am very disapointed and will rather go for another brand in future
terrible – found the rest of my metabo kit very good in general. however the circular saw is a dog does not even compete with old battered makitas or dewalts. sent back once told (its ok) will be sending to metabo direct very dissapointed Show details

beats them all hands down. It has a huge cutting depth like a large angle grinder with dia of 230 mm; has got very little kick back compared to other grinders and very slim design, fits perfectly in hand. Very fast brake system. Long battery life 3 yrs battery warranty. One of my best investments. Overall would not use any other grinder apart from Metabo.

start or restart protection, which is what you would expect for German Made tools. Its the lightest Angle Grinder in all the corded 7-inch grinder I have used compared to Makita, Bosh, Milwaukee 180 mm or even their 230 mm Grinders. Its has very good ergonomics and very good grip and handling for all metalworking jobs. It has a cutting depth of 60 mm which is what I used to get from my previous Makita 230 mm Angle Grinder. Metabo claims to get twice the service life on their Marathon-motor with new cooling and carbon brush system which I will have to test and see. But overall I would say the best quality in the 7-inch angle grinder range overall with features and handling.

probably there price but there build quality is one of the best. A quality built grinder that isn't to big but more than powerful enough for trade use, the clutch adds a bit of safety for the user, They tend to get hotter than other grinders which doesn't seem to affect the performance but they eventually get to hot to hold, the top mounted switch can be hard to reach in some positions,
METABO WE24230MVTQ 2400W 230MM Angle Grinder. Great grinder! Loads of grunt! – I have a number of smaller 100mm and 125mm angle grinders I use routinely, but found I needed a much large grinder as I have some sheets of 40mm… Read more
thick hard steel plate I needed to cut up, and had already burnt out my old and trusty but small Ryobi grinder trying to cut it.
Metabo makes good tools so I settled on their 230mm grinder after looking at the various offerings around. I'm glad I went with this model as this is a really great grinder. It's amazingly powerful while still being easy to hold and control. I was able to cut up the slab into smaller sections cleanly and without any drift, all while using a single cutting disc.
Whereas some grinders have quite large and bulky heads, the sleek angled head on this unit also makes it easier to get into spots, very useful indeed. The grip is good, as is the balance. The motor also sounds reasonably smooth in use.
Having now used it extensively over the last year, overall I couldn't be happier with the performance, power and usability of this grinder!
Highly recommend it!

small curves with no sand-throughs welcome, it was great. Able to do fine work with great control and not too tiring. But - just under 18mths and bearings died. The store had closed so I emailed Metabo customer service Australia who were very short and unhelpful. They just gave me a list of repairers and would not initiate a warranty claim. Eventually, fixed just fine, 6mths later bearings again, now almost a year later its screaming at me again, and now going faster which can destroy a job instantly. Will never consider buying another. Makita is same price, DeWalt on Amazon cheaper. I know where I'm going next.
