Brought expensive tapware - after only 2.5 years of use all the coating flaked off … I grew up with Methven Taps which used to last forever. Sadly the old NZ quality brand no longer exists. Avoid.

Good shower head, appalling service – Flexispray shower head failed about 1 year after purchase. Packaging states 25 year warranty. Contacted Methven who gave me a case number and said… Read more

someone would contact me. They did not. Rang three more times, each time a customer service representative saying that it would be processed and sent to me. STILL WAITING. 25 year warranty is meaningless, I get the impression that they have no intention of honouring it.

Best feeling shower ever!!! – Honestly unbelievably good!!! I once, in an old job, got product training on shower heads and was informed this was the very best and that all AU… Read more

Hilton hotels have this shower head (?). Since then I dreamed of experiencing it one day! We bought it for our BnB accommodation this year and hands down it makes you drool! Our (3x the price) Grohe shower head in our shower, looks nice and feels nice, but this Methven Aurajet round Aio feels AMAZING! Like tiny, tinkeling sparkles that drench you. No jet stream, no rain, but sparkles! I love it and thought it deserved this review. I shower in our BnB every opportunity I get!!!

Decent quality multi-function shower head but expensive – Bought this to replace an old shower head handset where the rubber jet nozzles/nipples have deriorated. There are 3 functions on this handset:… Read more

standard, mixed, massage. The standard mode uses 72 nozzles on the outside to give a decent pressure shower spray. When compared with shower heads with fewer nozzles, the jet pressure on this shower head will definitely feel weaker and less "punchy". The massage mode uses the centre 14 nozzles/jets for strong concentrated washing/massage. The mixed mode uses all nozzles, so you get a mix of both, but the pressure will be less on both fronts.

I personally put it on standard mode. The build quality is good. The simple chrome design is minimalist and the circular head contrasts well with the rectangular handle. I can't the see seam/joinnery on the handset and the warranty is lifetime on this so hopefully it won't split like a couple of my previous handsets (from well known brands).

The function switch is clicky and surefooted.

The diameter of the head is a big 120 mm, however as the shower head face is flat, and isn't convex, the spray area does not enlarge very much the further away it is. It would be nice if the designer put a convex curve into the head face so a proper cone of spray is formed instead of a slightly enlarging cylinder of spray. Maybe put an adjustable slider to adjust the cone spray area LOL.

Methven states on the product box that the coverage is wide. I personally don't feel that the spray cone is very wide, due to the flat head face above.

To feel the satisfying rain drop splatter effect from this shower, I would recommend positioning the shower maybe 50cm or higher above your head. Otherwise you would just feel just the smooth jets of water falling.

This shower head is rated at 9L/min so requires mains/utility level water pressure to work well.

Even if the warranty is lifetime, I imagine after a while the nozzles will be attacked by the hard/heavily chemicalised tap water and will deteriorate just like the others - and that will be just wear and tear...

Best mixer we had – Installed the Methven gooseneck pull out mixer in the kitchen when we renovated, 7 years ago and still going strong. Recommended this to an aunt… Read more

about a year ago and she also loves it. The pullout hose is good quality and always retracts, although after a few years I lubricated the rubber rings around the spout where it retracts and it was as good as new. Very happy with it.

This is for the square version, which is small and has a terrible coverage and a weird feel - largely because of the trendy open design, that isn't… Read more

countered by having any inward pointing jets. The showerhead is also quite noisy. Ridiculously expensive too for something made out of plastic. While Methven is a good company, this particular design is a fail. I'll go back to my Methven Satinjet which is much cheaper and gives an excellent feel and coverage with low water use and no noise.

Over complicated – Needlessly difficult in design. Super expensive for something that is all plastic. Fit off is a nightmare, moving parts do not move freely. Coming from a plumber, stick to a simple mixer people.

Perfect compromise between basic sink mixer and goose neck – Spent a long time looking for a mixer tap that satisfied four main requirements. 1). Needed to fit in with existing sink, we only had a 25cm splash… Read more

back with small working area - so wanted a mixer that didn't dominate the space. 2) Wanted more height than the standard mixers to make filling vases, jugs etc easier. 3) Retain the same reach as existing mixer without pull out hose. 4) Reliable brand with good warranty - mainly looking for Methven Grohe Hansgrohe

Looked at many offerings from the major brands. The goosenecks were simply too tall and would look out of place or were not from one of the providers we were looking for. After many iterations, I started looking around again and stumbled on the Maku line of taps made by Methven, the same people that made our shower head. They are a NZ brand and do have a good reputation for their taps. These ones are not goose necks though they will give some advantages over the current sink mixer. DIstance from base centre to nozzle is 19.6cm, current mixer is 20cm so a little shorter. Height from sink to tap nozzle for Maku is 18.5cm, current mixer is 10cm. Most of the goose neck nozzles I looked at were low to high 20 cms with overall height reaching over 30cm. Maku's clearance will allow us to fill our biggest vase, the water jug and Laundry bucket without issue. The nozzle was lower than any of the goose or U neck mixers I was looking at so splashing should be kept to minimum (in theory). The aerator in the nozzle can be rotated which will direct the water rather than just going straight down. The overall height keeps about the same level as the top of the splash back which is around 25cm ... so it won't stick out. The tap swivels. This tap was $469 35mm cartridge is standard size

Installation Was pretty simple with the only real struggle being positioning of the clamp plate. This was due to the clearance between the hot and cold water tube connections being very close together. There are two rods securing the tap to the sink which ensures stability, better than the one rod on our old mixer. Other complexity was related more to the lack of space under the sink than the product itself. Have provided a shot of how the tap came out of the box and included items (please ignore the two isolation taps as these were bought seperately).

Operation The tap is very smooth to run and glides between between flow rate and mixing hot and cold water. The initial flow rate was very strong so I have partially closed the isolation tap to limit flow as we wanted to reduce splashing. The O ring seal at the base of the mixer looks OK I do wonder if multiple O rings might provide a safer seal.

Results We have been using the tap now for two weeks and are very happy with the outcome. For me the only concern I have at the moment is how it swivels. Swivelling the tap basically swivels the whole unit aside from the tap. This means the base connected to the sink swivels this may reduce the life of the O ring, I'd feel more comfortable if the base remained in a fixed position though this may not have been feasible in production. At this stage I'm comfortable saying I believe I've selected the perfect tap to meet all our requirements.

wasted 800$ on this tap and company crap warranty, I have contacted their service center, then most terrible experience started. Poorly defined warranty processes stating repairer will contact me. its almost 3 weeks now, still waiting to look into the issue (Not sure how long i have to wait). Strongly recommend do not go with their 15 years warranty scam.

poor design with hose attachment to shower head – When I reduce the angle to the shower head the hose forces the shower head out of the holder making shower head loose. Expensive $355 for just a hand shower. Would not recommend this product.

plate (inside plastic base), first towel rail end wouldn't fit over it easily. After careful measuring and screwing down second metal plate inside plastic base, it was almost impossible to fit towel metal end over it. Careful tapping on still seems to have cracked plaster. Metal plates appear to be too large after screwing in place, and cause plastic base to expand so towel rail ends no longer fit over them. Very frustrating.

other sub $20 showerheads delivers more or the same water output performance. The middle part of this is leaking, not I am expecting for a $200 showerheads! I learned my lesson on showerheads: Don’t pay too much on shower heads and if see and watch the output of your cheap garden hose multi pattern spray gun, that’s all you are going to see on all of those showerheads ( cheap or expensive).
