appreciate the space and flexibility to fit thick slices of bread (sourdough etc), although it is only a 4-slice toaster when you use average-shaped/sized bread. i.e. You cannot place 2 slices of, say, fancier sourdough that's more oblong-shaped next to each other without an end sticking out.

We like and often use the "A Bit More" button, as well as the "Lift & Look". The crumpet button works well for crumpets and English muffins, and the frozen button does help to toast frozen bread well. The fruit button can be hit and miss depending on the type of fruit bread you use. Thin bread tends to burn, but the thick slice or sourdough fruit bread cooks well.

We're a household of 7-8, so the toaster is used most days and several times in a row. This is where we've had issues using the toaster because of the sheer back-to-back volume. Basically, the toaster will just keep cooking and not lift, signalled by flashing buttons and a clicking sound. Not sure if it's a sign of overheating, so we have to switch off and unplug, rescue the bread, and leave the toaster a day. I was stressed about it the first time it happened 5 years ago, but now it's just par for the course.

We also call our toaster Trip since it's usually the appliance to trip our electricity off if I've got other things running (like the dishwasher and/or dryer). I now also plan its use so that breakfast and lunchtimes don't shut our house down because Trip spikes the electricity.

family member like which number setting quite a bit). Loved that you can feeze your bread, pull out 2 pieces at a time (not wasting bread) to have it turn out just like it was bought fresh. Loved the easy to remove crumb tray, loved the old school retro style of it....UNTIL it decided to start to shoot the toast out like a rocket with it landing 7 times out of 10 ON THE FLOOR! Crumbs everywhere, no 5 second rule so into the bin it went. It's getting a bit rediciolous now & sick of hearing the spring go, then the thump of the toast on the floor. So I've had to move it further back onto my bench, but it hasn't stopped it doing it. I have to now stand beside it to either wait for it to pop, or I lift the lever up to check how brown it is to stop it before it explodes out the top. Sad as I really like it otherwise, but now it is just a pain to have to keep an eye on it all the time. $180 wasted I think especially as you can by 10 Kmark toasters for the price of this one.

all that helpful as I discovered that all toasters had their issues regardless of brand and price so out we went and purchased another Breville namely a BTA435BSS. After using for about 4 weeks I can report that it toasts cafe raisin bread, crumpets and normal sized slice bread satisfactory. The controls are easy to use and understand their functions. I would have given it a 5 star rating except that the pull down handle came off about a week after purchase. After a bit of fiddling I was able to reinstall it and had zero problems since.

changing a setting the toast cooks differently virtually each time and often the bread burns. Just junk and Iam so disappointed ! I would strongly advise potential buyers to look for another brand.

to replace it as a quality toaster should last more than 13 months under Australian Consumer Law, but they refused. I asked how long they expect a Breville toaster to last and they refused to answer. In summary, they build junk that's only designed to last up until the warrantee period then they don't care.

the model is older then 12 months out of warranty and luck. Also discontinued so obviously a lemon! Going back to cheep toasters so at least you feel like get some moneys worth!
