The policy was fairly good value. Your information was clear and easy to understand, so set up was easy As I did not lodge a claim, cannot comment on the time it takes to resolve a claim. I believe I have used 1Cover once before.

Cancellation not covered as close relative resided overseas

Should have read PDS thoroughly. Unfortunately 1Cover/Allianz do not cover cancellation fees if done so due to close overseas relative passing away. Very distressing at a highly distressing and emotional time.

Very disappointing

We had used 1 cover for a long time.
Unfortunately we were one of the unlucky people who booked through hotel quickly and lost our money and accommodation where we had booked in Bangkok.
When calling to speak to staff at 1 cover they were not helpful and a couple of them were actually rude to us. They were unable to advise what to do.
We made contact after about one month to be told that they would not cover us. Reason being they wouldn't cover a company that went into receivership.
We contacted fair trade, fair trade told us to contact our insurance company who 1: didn't know what to do and then 2: wouldn't cover us
We expected we would of been covered with purchasing the highest level of cover,
WRONG
We no longer use 1 cover and do not recommend.

Have peace of mind

Has everything thing that we want for a policy
Used 1cover 4 times now and only claimed once with no problems
The only claim was for a pair of sun glasses even though we been home 3days they paid out all but the $100 excess

Excellent Claim Process

We needed to claim after cancelling our holiday due to relatives being seriously sick. The claim process was simple and the claim was paid very quickly with no problems at all. I would recommend to everyone and will use again.

Good backup in emergency

Booked for Scandanavian cruise but had a serious medical problem a week before departure. Forced to cancel flights, cruise and accommodation. Contacted 1Cover and my wife was reassured we were fully covered. We made a claim after release from hospital. We provided medical documents to support the claim. The claim was processed and a full refund was made within 10 days of the claim being lodged. Service was excellent.

Don’t use 1Cover

We thought we were getting good value insurance for our overseas holiday and Mediterranean cruise, particularly selecting an in advance of departure policy including cruise cancellation insurance. As you can gather our cruise was cancelled due to a mechanical failure 24 hours before we were due to board. We advised 1Cover immediately and the representative told us not to worry you have cruise cover make the changes to re book another cruise and we’ll take care of your on costs when you return. On return we submitted our claim with receipts and the help of our Tavel agent. 1Cover replied and declined our claim due to the cruise cancellation by a mechanical issue! Which is stated in the t&c small print but not when you select full cruise cover at the time of purchase. We will be taking as far as we can and to the media. Personally I will never use 1Cover again and I will vigorously promote the non use of 1Cover on social media and family and friends throughout the world.

Hello Nick, I can appreciate that you're disappointed with the outcome of your claim, there is a common misunderstanding that cancelled transport is covered by travel insurance. However, this is not the case. This is generally an industry-wide standard, it’s certainly not an exclusion specific to 1Cover. It is the suppliers responsibility to compensate, reimburse, or find an alternative for travellers when transport is cancelled due to operational reasons and mechanical failure. However, cancellations due to reasons outside the control of the supplier, such as severe weather events, natural disasters, you becoming sick or injured are covered by travel insurance. Yes good value. used this company 2-3 times now. I had a phone damaged this time where it smashed but haven’t lodged a claim not sure if I can now?

Fantastic service, highly recommend!

Unfortunately I was badly injured 3 days into my holiday in the Philippines and I had to fly home immediately for medical attention. 1Cover was fantastic in supporting me whilst I tried to get home and they were extremely prompt in approving my entire claim. They covered everything ranging from emergency flights home, last minute hotels, medical bills, cancellation costs and more. Thank you 1Cover I couldn't be happier with your service!

Could not update policy as parents are too old is this not age discrimination

I purchased a comprehensive policy for my upcoming overseas trip. I then discovered after the cooling off period that it does not offer cancellation if the emergency back home is for a person 85 years and over. When I enquired could I pay extra to have this covered, as you would with an existing health condition, I was told NO, I could not get a refund as the cooling off period was expired. They did offer that i could use it for another trip as it last for a year? My parents will be the same age. This was my mistake I have learnt to read the PDS carefully or better yet ring if you have any doubts before you purchase. There are other insurers that do cover for elderly family back home.

Faultless Service On Claim

The policy was easy to set up by phone and additional premium for pre-existing conditions was well priced in comparison to other quotes. I contacted the emergency hot line due to an unexpected illness while overseas and the staff member was professional and helpful. On return to Australia my claim submission was handled very promptly and covered all expenses minus the $100 excess. I was very impressed that correspondence during the claim process was from a nominated staff member rather than "the team". I was very happy with the service received and will highly recommend 1Cover especially for those who need cover for pre-existing conditions.

Hi, I have you 1Cover before but I just want to be clear about medical expenses cover because so many people misunderstand the term and the condition like me. If you're in a country where local hospital or ambulance or doctors provide receipt in their language, do I need to translate the receipt to English before I lodge a claim to 1cover?In an emergency of injury or health problem and I have to go to the closest hospital. After that they have to transfer to specialist hospital or doctors, do I have to ring 1Cover first or do you organise everything at the start? thank you, Tom

Hi Tom, Ideally to process the claim as quickly as possible, we recommend that the documents are already translated by a registered translator, however if you are unable to do this, we have facilities available that can action this process for us. We recommend that for any medical emergencies that you always contact our Medical Team to assess your condition and make the necessary arrangements that you require. Hope this answers your query. If I had to go to hospital overseas and it cost $5,000 ( Australian). Do I have to pay the bill first before I claim? I am going to Europe.

Not sure, fortunately for me I have never had to use the insurance. Better to have it than not Cheers MickHi Gayle, Sorry for the late response. Anything under $1000AUD, you need to pay and lodge a claim.
