A special shout-out to Peter, our site supervisor, who has been amazing from start to finish. He kept us informed at every stage, communicated clearly, and made sure things kept moving along.

Like any build, there were a few hiccups at handover with some items needing rectification, but these were addressed professionally and promptly.

Overall, we’re very happy with our experience with 8Homes and would recommend them to anyone looking to build.

Update: We are now at the construction stage. 8 homes committed to getting us to site by September and initially I thought that would mean the end of September, but we actually went to site in the first week of September. The communication with the team has been nothing short of fantastic. A special shout out to our pre-site manager Josi. She consistently updated us on throughout the entire process. Whenever we had questions she would always pick up the phone and chat with me instead of just sending an email. She supported us in organising an additional clean of the land prior to going to site which took a load of stress off our minds, she moved with speed and at the end when it was time to handover to the site manager she called us to say congratulations and all the best. Now the team are onsite and we receive weekly updates on what’s been completed and the communication has been amazing. We highly recommend eight homes!

We have been living in our new home for 8 weeks now and we love that it's such a practical, welcoming and warm space for our family. Please guys do not get the keys or do not pay the Final invoice before they sort out the items that needed to be fixed before even occupancy permit. they will issue the OC permit without checking the items that are not in place properly. they will not fix the items that been rectified & been told by supervisor SC**t that he will come & fix it next… Read more

week even the admin site manager E**A issues needed to be fixed up. ourselves & site supervisor agreed as he promised things will get fixed & get us to signed the handover papers

items are below,

1. Installed broken door Dishwasher (now they claiming now that once they given the keys then its our responsibility of getting warranty claim to Artusi company ) 2. Opticomm Connection :- they have not installed the Opticom conntection to near pit although we have paid in contract 1350$(approx) to get connected 3. hot water system has installed with visible pipes & they are not showing in the Plan 4. Solar system they have installed have holes are too big that any one can Put hand in it 5. Refrigerated cooling system (Outdoor Unit) installed not straight & screws are lose too. ( explained to supervisor ) even the whole unit is 75 MM deeper then the Actual slab level so when we do the landscaping water can go in the unit. 6.Yesterday’s lighter Storm has discoverd the Front facade Gutter is leaking right on between gerage door & Front door. 7. Couple of eletric swiches are been installed side ways with Back wall has patches on it right next to Tiles in the Laundry ( they think we cannot pick it ) (raised with Supervisor too) 8. only thing they fixed it that just the toilet sliding door which was not locking. 9. Council Footpath has cracked in three bays when explaining to the Supervisor he mentions to get repaired ourselves & claim the amount to Eight homes.

All the things been sent email to admin site manger & sight supervisor to be looked & rectify since 8 weeks but no one is answering or returing our calls or messages. we had to call from blocked number to site supervisor & he responded that he will come next day so we took a day off hoping that things are getting fixed that day but he didnt turn up. following day we called him from different number & he answered saying he has some family issues he will visit next day again we took a day off but only the Bathroom door guy come & fixed the lock issue. talk to Admin supervisor who we needed to call from another number & she answered apologizing & directed us to send an email to head of site manager C***s with his phone number. same thing now he isn't answering the phone.

I am extremely disappointed with the ongoing handling of serious water-damage defects at my property. The leak was caused by a nail driven into a water pipe, with water leaking from the 1st floor powder room near Room 3 and travelling down into the kitchen. splitting, not just cosmetic damage.

The Room 3 door frame (1st floor) and cellar door frame (ground floor) still show water damage and have not been replaced, yet the builder has prepared these areas for painting.

Additionally, the temporary side and front fences were down for months, allowing people to enter the property and dump rubbish in front of the garage, creating safety and security issues.

These issues are documented in a private inspection report. I have requested a site meeting with the supervisor, followed up again, and am still waiting for a response.

I am seeking proper rectification of all water-affected areas and full security measures, not partial fixes or cosmetic cover-ups.

Ridiculous company with poor customer service. We have settled December 2025 but there are lots of items that has not been completed. I tried to contact site manager and the head office but absolutely no response. The fly screen should be install long before we made payment and now still not been completed. said it was some other builder taken it away. They don't care about anything after received the final payment. If it still not been done, probably would need to apply for VCAT. This is the worst experience ever!!

Job number: 130234 officer area No responsibility of damaged lacking water from toilet upstairs to toilet downstair. Damaged plaster, wall , door can’t close. New house just moving in only 2 days it’s happening. I will attached photos 10 months without fixing problems properly. Our experience with 8 Homes has been nothing short of horrible, I would not even give 1 star. From the start, we had multiple issues with both the paint and carpet. responsibility, saying the settlement was over. It feels as though the company rushes customers into settlement so that their mistakes are covered up and clients are left with no recourse.

I followed up many times regarding the carpet. At first on 15 June, I was told it was no longer their problem. Later, they sent the carpet company to inspect — who confirmed the issue was not their workmanship. Instead, it was the builder who had pulled up the carpet and installed material underneath, which caused the problem. Despite this clear evidence, 8 Homes still refused to fix it. To make matters worse, one of their representatives even suggested that we caused the damage ourselves, which is both insulting and completely false. No homeowner would deliberately damage their own property.

The overall quality of the finishes (paint, carpet, and other details) was far below standard, and the entire build dragged out from the promised 12 months to nearly 15 months. The most frustrating part is that instead of taking accountability, the company tries to manage their reputation — previously, they even contacted us and kindly asked us to take down our negative review. This is not how a trustworthy business behaves and if it happens again just to let them know I would not take anything down.

Save yourself the time, stress, and money. 8 Homes does not stand behind the quality of their work, drags out the build, and avoids responsibility once settlement is complete. Based on our experience, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere to avoid the same problems.

big one: when Mahercorp, parent company of Eight Homes, went into voluntary administration in 2023. Like thousands of other customers, we were stressed, angry, and completely unsure what was going to happen. We were about 2 weeks away from handover and still had to fork out tens of thousands of dollars just to get the build over the line and help the company exit administration. That part was brutal.

The build itself was extremely stressful. Our slab sat there for months with nothing happening. We were passed between 3 different construction supervisors, timelines blew out, and communication was inconsistent for long stretches. Things did eventually come together, but it took far longer than it should have, and the experience took a toll.

Honestly, if you’d asked me during the build whether I’d recommend them, I would’ve said no without hesitation.

I chose these guys because I’d wanted an Urbanedge home for years. I saw one of their display homes back in 2009 and loved it, that design and that look. In the end, the people are what saved this experience.

One thing I do want to clearly acknowledge is the end result. We are genuinely happy with the family home that was designed and built for us. We got exactly what we wanted in terms of layout, design, and overall feel. It’s a beautiful home and it suits our family perfectly.

That said, the biggest issues we experienced post-handover were plumbing and waterproofing, and these didn’t all show up straight away. Around 2 years after the build, we started noticing leaks and problems with toilets, showers, and internal piping. Some of these issues were clearly related to waterproofing, and others to plumbing workmanship. These were not small cosmetic problems, they were genuine defects that required inspection and repair. From what we understand, the waterproofing subcontractor used at the time was Aquatap.

SALES, LUKE ____________ Luke was excellent. Clear, articulate, helpful, and genuinely easy to deal with. He walked us through everything, helped us design a home that actually fit our block, and made the early process smooth and understandable. No pressure, no nonsense, just good service.

CONSTRUCTION SUPERVISORS, ELLIE AND FRANK _______________________________________ Ellie, who is no longer with the company, was outstanding. She knew her stuff, stayed on top of things, kept in touch, and genuinely cared about the build quality. When she left during the voluntary administration period, we were worried, but Frank stepped in and he was also great. He kept us updated, made sure things were done properly, and gave us confidence the house was finished well despite everything that had happened.

MAINTENANCE AND WARRANTY, WHERE THEY REALLY REDEEMED THEMSELVES ____________________________________________________________ This is where Mahercorp genuinely deserves credit.

No build is perfect. You will find defects. What matters is what happens next.

When the plumbing and waterproofing issues came up, the warranty process itself was straightforward. You log issues through the portal and they actually respond. If something is urgent, they act quickly. There’s no deflecting, no handballing, no pretending it’s not their problem. If it’s a legitimate defect, they take responsibility and work through fixing it.

Marie from maintenance deserves a shout-out. She’s organised, responsive, and clearly dealing with a huge volume of claims, yet still manages to move things along and keep communication clear.

And then there’s [Name Removed], the inspector and all-round fixer. Calm, polite, skilled, and detail-oriented. He inspects issues properly, explains what’s happening, and actually fixes things, not patch jobs or excuses. He’s like a Swiss Army knife of the building world.

SO, WOULD I RECOMMEND BUILDING WITH THEM? _______________________________________ Yes, with context.

I would recommend them for their home designs, their willingness to honour warranty claims, and most importantly, for the quality of people they have on their team. They do show up when things go wrong, which counts for a lot.

It wasn’t an easy build and it wasn’t an easy journey, and the plumbing and waterproofing issues were frustrating, especially appearing years later. But we ended up with a home we genuinely love, backed by people who did step up when it mattered.

He made our handover for my daughter, very smooth and although he was not our original supervisor he gave us his number incase we had any issues post construction. We were accused of running it over with a trailer/car which didn’t happen, by Ryan , another supervisor, and were told it would be fixed. It’s been several weeks and nothing has been done. Several messages with eight homes and Ryan have been left and have heard nothing at all. One phone call to Peter and boom!! He has organised a plumber to fix it. Well done Peter.
