I purchased a Ferrex Pro cordless lawn mower kit 2x20v. The batteries charge reading was 55% . Do I need to charge the batteries up to 100% before use?

What type of batteries are used in Aldi lawnmower?

Purchased a Ferrex Pro lawn mower from Aldi in 2023, and then in 2024, decided to purchase 2 x 4v replacement batteries for the mower. However, when we went to use them, they would not work in our mower, even though they are exactly the same as the two that were supplied with the mower ( except for production date). Our daughter purchased the same mower in 2024, and our replacement batteries work fine in her mower! So, we decided to try her batteries in our mower and they don’t work . Any one else had same problem, and if so, what can we do?

The mower uses 2 x 18v batteries (not 4v). Nonetheless It is very odd they worked on some else’s but not yours. Instead of me buying 2 extra batteries I decided to buy a second charger for $20 plus delivery.

Aldi does not have any electric mot have any battery mowers available now. What, exactly, is on offer and where? Every electric mower they've sold may be a one off. I have one with 2x58v batteries that I cannot use because one battery has failed and the warranty people are ghosts. I too would like to know where I can get replacement batteries.

Anyone had problem with Aldi Ferrex Pro not turning on? Was working for many weeks. Left unused in shed for about 4 weeks. Batteries are fully charged, 4 green lights show on each battery. Any reported problems with the power switch or wiring?

Our mower stopped working too. The problem is that after intensive use the power transistors don't get enough cooling because the metal cooling block under 'the hood' gets grass around it and one of the transistors will fail. If the mower motor gets current from the remaining working transistors it will just vibrate the motor in a hold of the magnetic field remaining. Ours started once again with full batteries out of 100 attempts but we replaced it now. It is absolutely a design flaw that the cooling gets blocked and can't be cleaned easily.

Need a 58v battery replacement (one of two won’t recharge) for ferrex pro lawnmower. Can’t get response from scheppach support. Been to local store no help. Anyone help?

I'm in this boat too. The mower has been great otherwise. Only having 2x 2.5Ah batteries was an issue, but each usage was reasonable. Now 1 battery will not charge, the other is good, but the mower needs 2 good batteries of the same condition. No response at all from scheppach .... what action can we take, collectively perhaps?

I want this mower to work again, all I need is a pair of good batteries and better if they had more amp hours!

This is a serious problem with Aldi product, the battery situation in particular; they are not standard batteries, hence it was always going to be an issue at some stage. I was hoping to pick up a second mower with a big mark down as it often happens, but didn't manage to get one. All I really wanted was to have good extra batteries at the time.

No other mower has come close to being this good, such a pity about the battery situation :(

Mines 18 months old. Use it every 2 - 3 weeks. Haven't needed to change the blade yet. Sorry can't help. I'll probably remove mine and tidy it up with an angle grinder if needed..

Am having difficulty getting the batteries out of the Ferrex Pro lawnmower. They won't budge. Please advise solution!

Louis

Yes. How do you remove the battery from the Ferrex Pro? I can't see any buttons or catches, it just won't budge.

As John Canberra has compared the older model Aldi mower to this newer Ferrex Pro regarding battery life, I too was surprised that this newer model seems to require more battery power to complete the same job as the older Aldi mower. I am using the same 4.0Ah batteries in both mowers and they get extremely hot in the Ferrex Pro mower. I think Ferrex Pro mower must have an overheating cutout sensor because I find it cuts out and will only start up again if I remove the batteries and reinsert them.

Tested it again today, the Ferrex Pro uses more battery than the Aldi mower. The Ferrex Pro battery compartment gets extremely hot. The battery compartment flap is a very close fit, the heat doesn't escape. The battery compartment on the Aldi mower is a much looser fit and the batteries are mounted vertically so they ventilate heat up and out and the top opening compartment lid seems to release the hot air more easily. The horizontal slotted batteries are not vibrating the battery contacts the same way as the vertically slotted batteries.

Never had this problem. Works perfectly for me...
