Customer Service office provide with incorrect information
I am an exsisting cutomer and tried to upgrade with sports pack. Couldn't do it online and call them. They told me that it only take 24hrs to do the transition and i will get necessary code via email with in 24hrs. (Even ehn i called 2nd time they read out the system note that i will get the code in 24hrs) Received and email which is contradicting what i heard out of customer service officer and after two days and called to follow up. Now they come up with different story which is not making any sense to me. If i am a new customer signed up onl...ine i will get the code in two business days and since i am exsisting customer i need to wait 14days cooling off period before i get the access. My understanding is only new customers need to wait for cooling off period and not the exsisting once. Talk with even supervisor, but seems like they do not understand a thing and they just repeating what they ask to tell to the customers like a record. Fed up with talking and given up and i may shift my account out of Alinta soon.
Overcharged bill with no genuine assistance
We used to get quarterly bills of $350 - $450. Our last quarterly bill was over $900. We are two people who work full time, have no new appliances, haven't changed how we use our electricity and have also had our appliances checked by an electrician to see if we had something faulty that was the cause - which all appliances were fine.
We have been trying to work with Alinta for two months now on a resolution, with no one (except one person without the authority to properly assist) agreeing that something is awry and providing us explanations ...- instead just complete use of confusing language and conversations that go in circles. I do have the feeling they are just trying to confuse and wear us out so we give up. The amount of time we've spent on the phone to Alinta would probably equate to the amount of our bill if I was being paid my the hourly rate of my employment. Too many hours of my life have been lost to Alinta. Also we did not speak to anyone who could properly assist us until we approached the ombudsman. We just kept getting overseas call centres that had complete obvious and prepared responses. It's now been escalated to someone else in Alinta, but they are also not being helpful. Would not recommend Alinta to anyone if you value genuine, honest and authentic service. But really I'm not sure if any Australian utilities company holds these values. Will be working towards being off the grid.
Is there less than a star? I used to have quarterly bills of around $600 and then i moved house and switched to Alinta my nightmare began. Willing to accept the new house is bigger and i hadn't come to grips with power usage, i was willing to concede payment of $1400 every quarter. The amazing thing is after getting rid of legacy appliances and investing in new power efficient ones combined with actively managing/watching my power usage, the bills never came down. I find it difficult to justify this exorbitant bills. We are a family of four, wo...rking full time and are mainly home in the evenings and weekends. There is a rip-off somewhere i can't place my finger on. Can't wait to finish paying off the current bill and move elsewere. Anywhere else must be better than this.
Curious how a single person with a visitor every so often gets a $535.00 bill.
i have solar panels also. I was told to go check metre number to see if it matches the invoice. both metres to units are in my box so maybe. Though I can't find a number similar at all. When I shared with 4 people my bill was this price.
Alinta Energy you must of made a mistake. Not possible. If I'm wrong I apolgize. paid but not happy.
Customer service NEVER deliver (unless you complain on product review)
We had a smart meter installed in March after having solar panels and a battery installed. When we received our first bill in June our controlled load usage had been billed as peak usage. We contacted Alinta who said they would reissue the bill within 5 working days. We contacted Alinta again after a month and again they said they would reissue the bill within 5 days. I contacted them 2 more times / they then said that we hadn’t used controlled load power ... I got our electrician out who confirmed that Alinta was reading our controlled load ...as peak power and that bill needed to be reissued. I contacted Alinta 2 more times - still nothing changed. I contacted the meter company (who Alinta are supposed to communicate with) and they said the meters were configured incorrectly and that they had told Alinta that bills need to be reissued. Guess what Alinta then issue the next quarterly bill with the same error (ie charging controlled load meter at peak rates!! ). I ring Alinta again and they offer me a $100 credit (we calculate we have been overcharged well over $1000) and once again say they will reissue bills within 5 days. 3 weeks later no corrected bills!?!? It seems like the call centre end tge phone call and take no action. After multiple phone calls and 6 months of no action I am exasperated. Worst customer service ever. Update Problem was solved within 2 weeks after I agreed to mediation via product review site. I was finally given a contact to liaise with who was in Australia. Moral of the story ... if you are getting nowhere with customer service put a review on this site to enable you to get personal service and hopefully resolution.
I have been with alinta for a couple of years and had no problems, all of a sudden my deductions stopped without any reason, and they could not find a reason, now they want me to put in more than double the amount which will put a large amount of credit which they will collect interest. That is my money, go to hell
Concession rebate back pay
I am eligible to get government rebate on electricity as a health care holder but they refused to back pay for 3 month periods that I did not update my concession because it was expired. I never had to update my concession detail with other providers and I didn't know that it has to be updated. They should inform me to provide new expired date or advise me before when I sign up with Alinta. I cannot understand why it cannot be adjusted it didn't not cancelled and just got changed expired date on the card.
Alinta Rip Off!
My gas consumption costs over a decade at same property have virtually stayed the same which doesn't make any sense? Since.
Hardware @ property : Instant electric pilot hot water & one gas oven.
With 7 ppl in house 2 adults 5 kids billing cycle 90 day av unit consumption was around 10 units per/day in 2009
FFD to 2019 4 kids moved out 1 remains & daily unit consumption avg. as of today is 9 units per/day.
What finished us off was We were away on holidays for 8 weeks out of a 90 day bill and just been home for 4 weeks yet the consumption billed ...
Bill has almost doubled when should be $60 cheaper
Left Red Energy as Choice review have Alinta as better environmentally and economically. Alinta were going to save us $60 a quarter but our bill has doubled before discount. Should have read reviews. Going back to Red, Australian company based in the Snowy.
Alinta say they messaged me to resolve this - they didn't.
Alinta Rip Off
My bill has always been around $200-250 it’s now DOUBLED & I havnt even been home as much yet alinta customer service which is automatically handled overseas advises it could be due to our weather. This company is definitely dodgy!!! Searching for another provider. They sucked everyone in with their promotions only to rip off their customers after.
1 star is more than I'd like to give
Only myself and my 1yo daughter live at the property but getting bills for $1000 for 60days use. Asked for someone to come and look at the meter and advise they would contact when coming. No one came but alinta keep stating they did and have sent another high bill. If I had a house full I would understand a decent amount bill but not as high as I'm getting. Total rip off and definitely changing providers.
Alinta will also not add my concession discount either. Never have had a bill any higher than $600 per qtr previously and that was the heat of summer.
"Alinta worst energy company.
"Alinta would be the worst energy company I had to deal with in 58 years of paying electric accounts. When I signed up I gave them my pension number and that my house had solar. They never followed up with any of this information and charged me over four hundred and sixthy dollars which I have refused to pay. I have since spoken to a call centre at alinta their agent has said that the pension department said they will not authorise any back payment. I told him this is not true I have been on a pensioner rebate since 2013. My previous suppliers ...all gave me the pension rebate. You adjust the pension rebate and I’ll pay. The next phone conversation said I owed much less and gave me a reduced figure. I asked to have this amount invoiced and send to me and I will pay it. Now they are ringing on an automated paying system for me to put my credit card payment in for the full amount. I asked for a manager to sort this once and for all, I would pay. I have since spoken to another energy company which has told me they can see the solar credit and my pension is authorised. I’m going to change to them. Im not paying alinta until they rectify their billing system, then I’ll pay. I have no problem paying but only when they fix the rebates. If they contact me with the correct amount I will happy pay them. MaureenHi
The reviewer stated that an incentive was offered for this review
Great company to deal with
I was with Alinta for a while and saving heaps.
Then they changed the offer for new customers and were offering an extra 3 percent discount. My next bill had the extra discount even though I wasn't a new customer. Can't recommend them highly enough.

Best of a Bad Bunch
Have to say that I have never had an issue with Alinta. Certainly the best of a bad bunch. Easy to access bills and required information. I think all Energy Companies are rotting the system, however this Company seems to be a better option to Energex or Lumo.
The Bill is ridiculous high with solar power.
This is my 3rd quarterly payment with this company and there is no way my bill could triple from the last bill and with solar power. Taking the company for further actions . I work and hardly ever home and cannot understand how this is possible. My bill has never been this high when I had no solar power. Do not join . Bad company .
Do Not trust
I got a 'fair28' deal from Alinta which they say 28% discount on the bill.
How they works this out is with a much higher per kWh rate (extra 10 cents than my previous retailer, can you believe that!)
I've been paying at least $100 more than I've been with the previous retailer since I joined Alinta.
Hmmmm after reading all these terrible reviews Im thinking I have made wrong move.
I have just red all the reviews and theres barely a positive one? I have just joined with them and now Im worried about my first bill and how high it will be.. How can Alinta still be in business after all these negative reviews and not do anything about their high billing. I will wait for my first bill, if this is not lower than my previous supplier I will not be hanging around for a second round.
Disgusting company, highly overpriced
I changed to Alinta considering the daily charge and discount were more appropriate than other electricity companies. After a good first bill I was happy with the company. Then I got my second bill, it was the most expensive bill I have ever received from ANY electricity company in my small one bedroom apartment. The company constantly dismissed me when I called them multiple times to understand why in winter, when we do not use heating or cooling it could possibly be the most expensive bill I've ever gotten. They shrugged it off, could not car...e less and told me they would charge me a further $10 if Id like the meter read again. I do not believe they could ever have read it in the first place. Don't go with this company they are disgusting and have the most rubbish customer service I have ever come across. Absolute fraud.

Questions & Answers
Very Poor customer service, and they are provide customer service from overseas, they work like robots, inefficient, I am lucky I cancelled service right after I sign up
I was with AGL, happy to continue as Alinta seems no reliable and they don't look after customers
Alinta continue to lie about investigating any problems but post they are happy to do so. Disgusting that they continue to lie to the public reading the reviews as well.

Hi Omar, I'm sorry this has been your experience with Alinta Energy as this is not the type of customer service we want any of our customers to experience. I am located here in Australia (WA) and if there is anything I can help you with, I am a private message away or if you prefer to send me through an email - I'd be happy to pass this on to you. Thanks, Ada.
