You rang me!

Joined alinta a while back. I get a phone call out of the blue claiming to be from alinta energy, and that she'd like to discuss my plan and a couple other things. Then she asks me to identify myself by giving her my full name , address and date of birth! I said you rang me I don't who you are so im not giving you my information. She replies well if that's the case we cant discuss anything I said fine by me, adios! You'd think a company like this in this age of scam calls wouldn't cold call like that asking for information. Show details

Alinta Energy - Extremely Expensive

I recently signed up with Alinta Energy, I was with them previously (a few years ago) and thought I’d try again hoping for competitive pricing, but it turned out to be extremely expensive due to the excessive, overpriced and unreasonable “Demand” charges. If you’re looking for affordable energy, steer clear of Alinta Energy, their extremely high prices are not worth it. Show details

Changed me to the wrong plan

I rang to change plans with them. The girl who I talked to had to constantly ask her supervisor what to do. Today I find they have changed me to an entirely different plan than I wanted and which will cost me way more. Terrible company and I will obviously be changing to another company asap. Show details

Good Luck trying to get a commercial price

Good luck trying to get a commercial price from this crowd. I have emailed 3 times and called over 5 times in the last 3 months just asking for a price and no one ever gets back to me. I get the same answer ever time, " our commercial team are under resourced and they will get to you eventually ". Things must be great in Alinta world as they certainly dont seem to want new customers. Show details

Whilst Alinta has good process their service (if you can call it that) is the worst I have ever encountered. They have SIGNIFICANT delays in reading emails - it took 9days to respond in which time I was unfairly passed on to a debt collector DESPITE continuing to make payments on time as per my plan. Show details

After checking my credit, lost my application, told me I never applied

Filled in their online form to switch my gas from Origin. Didn’t hear anything at all for weeks so I followed up. They said that they have no record at all of my name, address, or email and that if I had applied, I would have received an email (I didn’t). They basically called me a liar - twice. Even after I provided them with evidence that they did a consumer credit check on me, they insist that I never applied.

Since I apparently ‘didn’t apply’ and they have no record of me, it seems Alinta has accessed my credit information fraudulently (without consent) and as such, I have raised a case with Equifax. Somewhat satisfying. Show details

We have just completed our third complaint to the ombudsman regarding this outfit, and since requesting further info from them regarding the latest invoice, we didn't receive the info but instead, received utterly false and misleading representations by them that includes an entirely false claim that we (2 age pensioners) are $1,756.26 in arrears, along with unwarranted threats of debt collectors and electricity disconnection, we have also complained to the ACCC. Show details

Worst energy company

Very disappointed with Alinta and already transferred my service after being with them for only 2 days!
Rude customer service team (spoke to two of them) then had a chat with their cancellation team. When I asked the question why rates are different to what was on my online quote, he basically said it is what it is. He mentioned those online rates were generic and not specific to my property even though their website asked for my address before generating an online quote!

They just don’t care

I’m switching. Problem started in January when my load controlled meter stopped working. Then received bill with no controlled load and informed by alinta that I never had controlled load and had to apply for it. Checked previous bills and yep used to have controlled load tariff.

After smart meter was installed and the faulty control meter was bypassed by the installer alinta claims it’s working?

I’ve had a qualified electrician report this issue back in January.

Energex appointment to replace controlled load meter was cancelled without my notification. Was it you alinta who cancelled that appointment because you feel that the meter is still in operation?

Cheaper providers are out there. Filed a complaint with the ombudsman yesterday. Show details

Alinta cash grab

Moved house and closed alinta account in September. Paid final account balance. I'm now with a different provider.
Now it's June and alinta contacts me and wants me to pay more money to close account citing an 'adjustment'.
Why is it now I'm hearing from them at the end of the financial year? A cash grab? If I don't pay the payment increases 600%.
Very disappointed with them especially with rising costs on almost everything.when I tried calling them they were very vague and told me I have to pay.

Predatory

"John" from India has literally called me 12 times to try get me to change my electricity provider to Alinta. He has been calling for about 6 months and no matter what I say, he doesn't stop. Always from a different number. I would never change to Alinta if this company is going to send money to these Indian call centers to recruit customers. John also has my NMI number, address and so one of these providers have leaked my information at some point. Show details

hi ,we are not with Alinta Energy ,but it got us angry and upset the way Alinta treated a young couple that had over the top power bills ,after watching how Alinta did nothing to help them as GOOD and honest customers ,they had to go to A Current Affair on Sydney TV to get help ,by the way after it was brought to to media guess what ? ALinta said ..............sorry ,a bit late for a number of us looking to find a new provider after having the same power company for 40 years,but what we can say in our club is no way we would use Alinta as one of our providers fearing they could treat us like that poor couple Show details

We have solar panels and battery storage and export a lot of power to you. Our account is therefore in credit. Are you able to transfer just the government rebates to our bank account rather than adding them to our credit? We need to retain our generated credit to cover the daily supply charge, so I don't want you to refund that to us.

Hi There, We are purchasing a house shortly and it has a reasonable Solar install.. We are assuming the system will generate significant credits to our future accounts… Will Alinta Energy refund that credit value back into our back account and what would be the process please..?

** Reading your current Solar terms and conditions its unclear and your older (2017) T’s&C’s (still linked to Google BTW) state that you don’t refund the solar credits at all..
