not good service
My previous bill was really high i notice that every month it's increasing. The last time i ask them to extend my payment i was talking to their customer service and they allowed me to extend without paying an extra because i ask them if it's possible to ask for an extenson but still the same discounted bill. The operator said say yes it was been approved by their supervisor and they told me they will send me a email regarding the date that i told that i will pay. weeks came i never received an email so i still paid the dscounted bill and just ...last two days ago i received my new bills and they added the discounted amount price into my bill what kind of service you guys have. i will change my electric provider don't let them connected on your electric horrible service and all lies.
Unbelievable business practice
Spoke to company re changing over to them phoned a further time to ask questions received paperwork without agreeing to change phoned company to advise nogo((within cooling off period) then advised 3months later by current provider Alinta has my business now so phoned company once again told my electricity may be terminated and it was up to me to phone my legit provider and arrange for this mess to be cleared up - no empathy as to fact I have not done anything wrong my account has been illegally changed from my current provider over to Alinta ...and I’m told that I might lose my power supply -never I day late with any payment on my power and Alinta acknowledged i did phone within cooling off period to advise i would not be signing up with said company but I may still lose my power supply and it is up me to sort out OMG what gives -( have put it into hands of electricity ombudsman)
Do not choose them they can't get you connected
I signed up and they said someone would come to turn on power. I have been waiting two days still no power. They said someone came and I was not home. I have taken tome off work and still no one came. They lie as I never moved all day.
I had solar installed recently and Alinta put me on “demand charge” rates without even asking. From government sources I have read, “customers will only be put on a demand tariff if they explicitly opt in”. This wasn’t the case with Alinta. They never asked me, or even told me what demand rates are.
I have now “ditched” this shonky company. They are charging me over $50 for my bill. With my calculations, my new retailer would have put me in credit $20 for the same usage. ($70 more expensive to be with Alinta)

Terrible Customer Service - Would give negative stars if I could.
I got solar fitted about 2.5 years ago. Latest bill does not show meter readings for Solar Export. I rang to query all of this and explained all of my concerns.
After 2 months with several follow up phone calls, they haven't done anything to resove the issue.The outcome was that they could not explain the lack of meter readings and just kept trying to make me to pay the bill.
Now i got No choice but had to go to Ombudsman.
They are all about money and have no consideration for their customers as you can see with the rest of the comments. I wish there was a negative score.
Very Evil and Cruel
I was away for a couple of years and had my property rented during this time. The tenants there did not pay one of the bills for 215 dollars until I found out two months after it was due and paid it. The reason I initially didn't see the bill was because I was at a location where I had no access to Internet for a few months. When I came back home I realized that I can't borrow money from any financial institution until I found out that they recorded a default against my credit record which brought my score really low. Mind you I had no idea...what a credit score was back in the day. I contacted them and told them it was not deliberate and I was not aware, but they did not take any of that into account and insisted that they will not change it not matter what. It's been 3 years and I can't get any loan or any finances because of that 215 dollars default. Their action over $215 was the most cruel and inhumane action I've seen in my entire life. I have always paid my bills on time and this one time was enough for me to get crucified. Penalizing someone for 5 years for missing a $215 bill by two months. I can't even do a basic renovation around my house and can't even secure a 20k loan because of this. What a scam and what an EVIL company. They are all about money and have no consideration for their customers as you can see with the rest of the comments. I wish there was a negative score.
Alinta Energy won’t return my Centrepay credit all I get Are lies they owe me $462 dollars and they keep lieing saying they will prioritise the complaint but it never happens they are doing this to me because I changed from them and I’m 65 years old and they think they can get away with it I have contacted the energy ombudsman and made a complaint and the alinta supervisor today had a cheek to ask me the case number which I refuse to give them so they can contact and lie that they paid it back but I have proof from my bank that nothing has been refunded then they had the cheek today to say only $37 how do the federal government let thieves Rilke this energy company exist I’m bewildered..
I’ve been with Alinta and have had no issues until I moved into my new home. They’ve billed me 3 times, all of which were inaccurate, with the last one over $2200 for a 32 day billing cycle?! How is this possible to use $2200 worth of gas in 32 days, when I’ve only lived in the house for 9 weeks? After contacting them at least twice each week in the last 6 weeks , they want nothing to do with the complaint and keep saying they’ll ‘escalate’ the problem higher, but they never do. I honestly can’t believe that a company can be run like this, where they don’t even try in the slightest to help their customers.
NO POWER OR GAS!
No power or gas on. Why I ask? Well apparently you need electricity to turn gas on???? Um no you don't. It's freaking cold and wet, we are all tired from moving and just want hot showers, a hot meal in the oven oh and lights would be nice tonight!!! Girl on phone said they are currently experiencing large call volumes when I asked her WHEN will it all be turned on. Really that's your response? If we have no power OR GAS over the weekend we will change providers come Monday morning...unless of course another provider can connect us over the weekend. This is crap ALINTA!

Gas bill went up nearly 1000% from previous bills.
When ask for help to investigate they want nothing to do with.
Told me to get my own plumber to check. When I asked Alinta will pay the plumber? Of course, who request would have to have to pay (not Alinta) and when I send them the self reading of meter they told me to request actual reading with the Gas supplier (Janitor?). No choice but had to go to Ombudsman.
The attitude is basically they don't want to know but just pay the bill. They are cheap so you get what you get pay for.
Would give negative stars if I could - blatant corruption
I had a severely large bill after estimate readings and while was significantly in credit with an excellent payment history prior to this, following Ombudsman involvement, I agreed to a large payment and min fortnightly payments and had advised I was switching as AGL was cheaper. Then without any notice I received reminder notices and threat of default listing even though they had informed Ombudsman of the agreement and no communication as to why they have reneged on this, and the default while this was being escalated by Ombudsman and Alinta. I am ropeable and it is clear this company is very dodgy if they will back out of agreement with the ombudsman, they will not look after you!! Stay away.

Signed up, told I would be connected the next day because it was urgent, nothing happened, told the next day, again nothing! Told the third day by 12pm.... what do you know.... NOTHING! Can't log onto my online account as none of the reset passwords work, no online chat, only write letters or call with complaints.

Alinta don't honour published offers
I obtained a price offer via the Victorian Government compare energy website. Called Alinta and changed my plan for both gas and electricity. Looked at my profile online a couple of days later and noticed that plan for power had not changed, called again, told it will happen, they have an IT problem. Checked again a few days later, again called, no change. Contacted them by email, thats when they told me 1. it had been done 2. The new plan had built in discounts (to explain the 60 cents per KW charge (mind you there was no discount on the offer...) 3. they would look into it. Every email response, a different excuse. Eventually referred to the Ombudsman, still not resolved, however they lied to the Ombudsman and said "he entered the wrong tarriff into the government website", only problem with that nonsense is, you dont enter a tarriff, you simply put in your address!!! When will companies learn to stop using offshore outsourced labour, it ends up costing them double!
Alinta ask me to pay the bill but I have never dealt with her. Finally resolved with the customer service.
My investment property was vacant for a while. I have been contact with AGL for electricity supply for minor repair job. I don't know why Alinta just keeps on sending me bill. Finally, the customer has reviewed my bill and agree to make adjustments. Fair deal and good customer service
We have been an Alinta customer for many years, apart from having to request a refund cheque every quarter (rather than having a direct credit into my bank account) the service has been fine. Recently we received our invoice which was very clearly very wrong due to a problem with the meter read. I sent an email and quickly received a response (looked like a standard template) telling me that for many reasons your account can vary etc. I was extremely disappointed with this standard response, I was being charged $100 when I should of been rec...eiving a $730 credit!!! The invoice was very obviously a mistake. I then had to take photos of my meter reads and send to Alinta requesting they take a closer look. After emails backwards and forwards several times, we finally today received our $730 credit. This took a month. Disappointed in the lack of "common sense" applied which could of had this issue resolved in 48 hours. Let's hope the next invoice is correct!

We have been trying to get our solar credit back for the last 6 weeks, we have made 10 calls every time we are told they are onto it and will call us back that day. But they don't call us back. we ask to speak to a manger or supervisor but appartntly there are none to talk to. We just or around and around. Not sure what to do we have 9 accounts with them and have always paid on time every time very upsetting.

We have been still trying to get our refund back with no luck. they just lie to us we have now made over 18 calls and sent 5 emails no one at Alinta care at all.

jess i have been trying myself they obviously don't want to refund me everytime i ring them they lie to me and say that is the supervisor they will prioritise it this has been going on for nearly two months so the only way to get action is to contact the water and energy onbudsman for your state and explain everything to them then ring them back and tell them that you have put into the energy and water obudsmans hands form the time that you do you have 28 days to try and get your refund back if no luck then let the onbudsman know and they will do it for you you will get a case number the supervisor may ask you for the case number do not give it to them if you do they will lie and say you have been refunded when you have not so i wish you luck regards Robert Hubbard
