My issue is with the security tags on items .. I walked into Anaconda and picked-up a basket ready to fill it full of fishing gear (eg spend prob $500 or more) .. but every decent item has a security tag stopping you from removing it from its shelf/rack ? No exaggeration, but the entire fishing line section had every rack locked-off via security… Read more
tags .. eg probably 40 racks. Similarly the lure section had another 50 shelfs fully locked-off and customers unable to remove from the shelf.
Look I get why as pilferage must be huge, but like many visits before this one, I stood there trying to attract the attention of a store person with no such luck.
So I had to say goodbye to the quality products and pick-up the crappy ones as I didn't have time to search the store for someone to personally escort me with each item I chose ?
So my question ? .. yes I'm sure these shelf locks reduce pilfering considerably, but is Anaconda in the business of product security, or actual retail sales ? eg whats the point of putting items on the shelf if they are physically locked-off to the customers and no staff to assist ?
I do wonder whether stores stock these quality brands however use them to lure unsuspecting people like myself into the stores and then sell them the more profitable lower quality brands ... eg I may as well have scales myself as Ive been taken hook-line-and sinker (worst pun yer I know) ... one word - Corporatism ... buy at local tackle shops and support the people doing the right thing by us all ... stepping off my soap box now as getting head-spins.
I bought a Dune 8-Person Instant Tent, and the very first time I used it, the whole thing buckled and collapsed in light wind. It’s supposed to be an outdoor camping tent, so if it can’t handle a basic bit of wind, it’s completely useless and unfit for purpose. Simple as that. When I took it back to the Epping (VIC) store for a refund, the… Read more
customer service was non-existent. They took my tent out the back but failed to give me a single shred of paperwork or a receipt to prove they even had my property. Then it got ridiculous. The store called me later to deny the refund, claiming they set it up in a back room and a sheltered concrete loading bay and it stood up fine. Obviously it’s going to stand up in a sheltered concrete dock with zero wind! When I told them that wasn't a real test, the staff member basically called me a liar, told me "no wind would blow it over," and then sarcastically said "maybe a hurricane would." To top it all off, when I was originally in the shop questioning their return process, the assistant manager actually followed me out of the store and all the way into the car park just to keep arguing with me. Customer care didn't care either and just backed up the store's useless "indoor test." I’ve left the tent there and officially lodged a formal dispute with Consumer Affairs Victoria. Anaconda would rather insult their customers than fix a faulty product. Do yourself a favor and bypass them completely.

Terrible customer service and breach of warranty – I purchased a "Dune 4WD Nomad Deluxe Hardtop Rooftop Tent 140cm" on a click and collect option in August 2022. In June 2023, one of the widows in it stopped working (zipper). After that, I made a warranty claim asking Anaconda to either fix the issue or replace the product as it has 2 years warranty. After a month of many phone calls and emails,… Read more
the customer service finally decided to issue a return and replacement order (by email). However, I went to 3 different stores around the Northern Beaches in Sydney, where the managers refused to take the old RTT, and neither would give me a replacement. (The manager at the Warringah Mall store couldn't help as they don't have this tent for sale there, the manager from Belrose was rude and unprofessional, and the one from Chatswood just completely ignored me)
Bought a Dune gazebo & a bunch of walls & hub etc - parts were missing and the guy ropes we're frayed. The lack of interest or support is concerning. Feels like this is a junk shop with a high price. Products sold as premium, but really arent. I can't really recommned going here for any serious camping gear. Show details
Anaconda let down – Bought a pair of ASICS shoes 11 months ago in Tassie and about a month ago the top of my big toes started to poke through the material. The rest of the shoe was still like new. Took them to my local Anaconda store and was treated like a criminal. Was told there was only a 6 month warranty and there was nothing they were prepared to do. Show details
Terri le – Don't buy Mangrove jack sunnies the coating Comes off and Annaconda won't replace them Rockingham Store WA Dont go there. Their return policy not worth paper itw written on Management needs changing
Customer Experience – Recently visited a store to purchase a 6x3m gazebo. Checked the website and stock was available. Arrived to the store and they had no stock but the website after checking while in store still said stock was available. Complained to customer service but they didn't care other than apology but no alternate solution offered. Been a customer for years but well not purchase again from Anaconda.

I purchased a pair of sandals. I went to leave a review about them. It was a good review. I noticed while doing this the sandals were much cheaper elsewhere. I went back to store. I was refunded the difference +10%. I must’ve had a good day dealing with the person I dealt with that has a lot to do with your experience in store. I was just lucky I… Read more
guess from the reviews I’ve read it’s nice to deal with an honourable company that’s just my luck on the day. Best Hugh.
I was in the Taren Point store today 31/12 & was lucky to have sales person Lucinda serving me. I was there to purchase a puffer jacket as im going to New York in Feb and came out with the jacket, a pair of gloves, thermals & waterproof spray. The click and collect process online was easy but I didn't get a reply as indicated that I would, by email, for the collection. I had to ring up and be advised that the item was ready for collection. Now the click and collect section of the Townsville store is just indicated by a small handwritten cardboard sign at the very back of the shop near… Read more

Ordered two rods click and collect. Being in a regional area I had a 3 hour round trip. When I got there the rods weren’t the right ones. Basically just offered me a refund and an apology. Terrible customer service Show details
Staff are young dumb and completely incompetent and probably the laziest dough heads I’ve ever encountered, I don’t know what’s this company problem with stock control or lack of it, seems every time you see online something is in stock in stock the staff are too hopeless and lazy to actually find it out the back and will just lie to you and say… Read more
we don’t have it! Don’t know what happens back there they probably just go on their phones and don’t even try to look or they are so badly run stores they can’t organise a bloody thing back there!

My husband and l had an exceptional staff member Grant help us today at Anaconda shop in Warragul Victoria. 4/5/26 Grant went above and beyond with helping us work out what we needed in changing to a lithium battery in our caravan and the extra attachments we needed to go with it to make it all work, acdc battery charger and an mppt solar… Read more

The shop is very lucky to have a such an intelligent man who is happy to spend time to help out, because of Grant, we bought all the items we needed. Anaconda you are very lucky to employ staff like Grant.

He also said he would call the next day but didn't. one week later i went to the store one half hours drive away and spoke to a manager Darwin who ok'd a refund, that was yesterday 30th Jan 2026 .I saw the money go into my account and the balance reflected that. but one day later the money is gone and there's no sign it was every deposited other the phone notification i recieved. One star is pretty generous after my experience with Anaconda Cannington. All I can say is ‘BUYER BEWARE’. My partner purchased a pair of sandals from the Cannington store on the 29th December. After wearing them around the house the same day, he decided they were not fit for purpose as the Velcro fastenings would not stay fastened. I attempted to… Read more
return them as unsuitable on the 3rd January. I have never been spoken to as rudely as I was by the manageress at this store. She told me I could not return them as they were ‘well worn’. When I pointed out that they were only 3 or 4 days old, and even if they had been worn for 24 hours a day it was not possible for a $200 pair of sandals to be ‘well worn’ in that time, she got really angry and asked me to leave the store and in future leave my bad attitude outside! She has left my partner no option but to take this to Consumer Affairs. The sandals are in pristine, unworn condition. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS STORE!
How does this business survive. Checking out is like going through airport security. Asking for your membership as if it’s worth something. with Karen’s price checking at the exit until Eventually calling for help as countless staff wonder about the store avoiding customer assistance. No wonder all fishing gear is locked . Doing time for theft is less painful and quicker than actually trying to pay for something
I purchased an item online for click and collect. It’s hard work. Lots of registration etc just to give them my money. Then at the store, the email / barcode isn’t enough. Paid for a click and collect at 9:02am. Received an email stating available in approximately 2 hours. I asked the staff about a plug for my fridge freezer unit in my car and I found he was very rude like he did not want to be there. I did not get his name but I won’t be shopping at the west Ipswich ever again let alone any of there stores

“POOR customer service starts at the TOP” After an exceptionally poor customer service experience in June 2025 at the Frankston Anaconda store, I was contacted by the store manager Shane who offered me a store voucher in compensation for the level of service and the inconvenience that I had experience in repeated visits whilst tying to return a… Read more
faulty product. Shane enquired as to my residential address so that the relevant voucher could be sent out to me. After 3 weeks I rang the store and asked to speak to the store manager Shane, after identifying myself he chuckled over the phone and said” Aw yeah, I remember, sorry about that mate lost the bit of paper I wrote your details on. Give me your address again and I’ll send it out”. So, now it’s the end of August still no voucher and no follow up from the store manager Shane. Very easy to see now why the staff at Anaconda have such low levels of customer service if this is the type on management that oversees the store operation. If this is the store managers reaction to poor customer service and the issuing of faulty products it is obvious that HIS customer service standards flow down through the structure of the store. As stated, “POOR customer service starts at the TOP”. Maybe all peninsula customers should head down the road to BCF and get better service, from my experience they don’t have a Shane and the flow on effect.
I bought a Dune rooftop tent from Anaconda and about 6 weeks ago one of the gas struts had seized (tent had only been used a few times). This time I was told the supplier was going to send some replacement struts. 5 days later I called back again to find out that they had been posted but Anaconda couldn't tell me when they were posted or when Anaconda expected to receive them. Yet again, I was faithfully promised a call-back. Today, another 4 weeks later I called again, was on hold for 3 minutes before someone answered. I asked to speak to a manager, and I was told I'd have to hold for because the manager was on a 10-minute break. Disgusting service all round! Don't waste your time!

Some items on their catalogues are genuine scams just to get you in the store. We tried to buy a Ecoflow power station which was advertised, but there were none available in any Melbourne store. Sales person was very happy to try to sell me a more expensive one or another brand they have in store. It seemed as though they had never even had the product in the Melbourne stores or in their warehouse. Show details
