We are really happy with our Aquatech RAPID/X6 hot water heater. It is a great unit and has been working beautifully. Steve from Australian Licensed Plumbing and Hot Water was brilliant throughout the install. He took the time to think everything through properly, plan the job carefully, and make sure the installation was done neatly and professionally. Really happy with both the product and the service.

The Aquatech Rapid X6 has been great since installation at the start of June 2026, replacing an older gas hot water storage unit. Installation was smooth by Want a Heat Pump and the hot water has been running well with no issues. Currently running the settings as it was set up (to heat when it drops to 50), which sometimes means the unit runs in… Read more

the evening when we can just hear it. We will investigate the fan modes to see if this nose could be lowered further, but it's already a quiet motor in a city suburb. Household of 2, haven't run out of hot water at all, and the temperature has not fluctuated. Love the option to heat during free electricity or sunlight hours when we switch plans or have solar installed to help further our efficiency. Like the ability to control from the unit or via an app. As another review notes, sometimes rain gets in the side of the unit and can be seen but this hasn't caused any issues. Too early to comment on long term performance, but hoping this unit continues to run smoothly into the future!

Happy with the unit. Chose this one as it's able to be monitored and controlled with Tuya / Home Assistant, and has the powered anode for less maintenance (with an additional backup). Being the lowest cost heat pump in this capacity range is just a bonus, not the key criterion. Noise is acceptable out of the box, but I did change the settings to… Read more

reduce fan speed and now it's barely audible.

Some feedback for improvement: - WiFi is tricky to reset if you change network name or it failed to connect the first time. I'm sure their support would help if contacted, but this procedure should really be added to the manual. Someone posted a video via Whirlpool that showed how to do it. - My unit arrived with a small cosmetic dent where the power plug was pressed against the unit in shipping, the factory packaging design / QC may need a look. My installer handled this well, brought it to my attention proactively and offered to either arrange a replacement unit, or to knock a bit off the cost on the spot.

Installed by Hotwater.com.au. Great experience with them, good communication.

We are amazed at the small kWh this unit draws to reheat water. The Phone App monitor and controller works very well, and shows present water temperature. When combined with Amber electricity supplier, we can program our water heating at our discretion, not the electricity supplier! It a perfect partner to our 24 kWh battery. Fantastic unit, recommend it! Show details

I had to replace my 15 year old heat pump with a new one and after extensive research settled on the Aquatech Rapid X6. It is a bit smaller than my previous one but this also means I don't have to heat as much water that I very rarely use (I only ran out of hot water once with a lot of visitors in the house). a short timeframe for the install and a very good price, also I can't praise their installer Daniel highly enough, very professional, courteous, gave me options if required and took the time to get it right. So far the heat pump works flawlessly and I like the control with the app to set the time of the heating cycle. I have a CL2 plan but took it off as I thought the controlled load would be only at night and the heat pump performs best during the day when it is warmer. I might change it back if the energy provider gives me more information when CL2 is in operation. Though the pump is not as quiet as I hoped it is manageable in my circumstances and can be stopped if required via the app.

Powrhouse installed the Aquatech Heat Pump Rapid X6 water heater in December 2025 at Doncaster, VIC 3108, and I’m extremely satisfied! It heats water quickly and maintains a consistent temperature throughout the day. I had an Aquatech Rapid X6 heat pump installed on 20/02/2026, replacing my previous heat pump, which was only eight years old but had begun to show signs of internal rusting. Office in Brisbane. It is, of course, too early to fully evaluate long term performance, but so far, the Aquatech Rapid X6 runs beautifully. I’m very happy with the hot water output as well as the low noise level of the unit. One of the key reasons I chose an Aquatech heat pump was the use of an impressed current anode to protect the tank, rather than relying solely on a sacrificial anode like many other brands. This means less maintenance and only a major service required every five years. So far, I’m very happy with the performance of the unit.

I’m very happy with this heat pump system. I can’t commebt on the customer settings available as I am happy with the default settings. But I can attest to its affordability and price point. There are many cheap heat pumps in the market which are poorly made and there are several high end systems that are rather over engineered. Aquatech seems to have found the sweet spot in the middle. Highly recommended. Show details

I'm really happy with my Aquatech heat pump. It was installed in mid December 2025 by Powrhouse. It replaced an old style gas HWS which was on its last legs. The unit provides plenty of water for me and I've set it to heat daily at 12 noon to maximise my solar output. This way I'm getting practically free hot water. The unit is relatively… Read more

quiet although I can hear it running from an inside bedroom. This isn't an issue for me but could cause disturbance for light sleepers if you either have a baby or need to run overnight. I did a fair amount of research before deciding on this unit. So far it's exceeded my expectations and I would highly recommend the unit together with my installer Powrhouse

I've decided to choose Aquatech Rapid/X6 after comparing similar products on the market, based on the actual needs of my house. I like the metal cover of the appliance and the its use of a current anode. It should last longer than some competitors. easily.

I'm not sure about the wirings being next to the compressor, because I saw some water inside. I am a little worried about the rain, because the appliance is placed outside. Hopefully it'll be fine, since it's supposed to be an outside appliance. Despite Aquatech has a good reputation, I had some trouble when I tried to register for the warranty. There wasn't a link in their website/manual, where I can go and register my appliance. I emailed them, but didn't have their reply. I tried to call them but had a little trouble calling their 1300 no. The system asked me to press either 1,2,3 for different services, but it said there was not such an option after selecting all of them. I've tried twice, but the system still said no such options except for 9-listen to the options again. The good thing was I was allowed to leave a message and their call centre rang me back pretty soon. They helped me with my questions and emailed me the links.

I would have given a 5 stars rating if the process was smoother. I will keep an eye on the machine and give a follow-up review later. Hopefully, it'll be a reliable and efficient heat pump that customers can trust. Hope my experience will help the company improve mire and the potential customers when it's time for them to choose a reliable heat pump hot water system.

An existing expensive to run 250L DUX hot water cylinder was 9 years old and needed a new duo valve $250. The plumber mentioned that because the sacrificial anode had not been replaced the cylinder may only last say 3 more years before it starts leaking due to pin holes from corrosion. So after thoroughly comparing several alternative heat pumps… Read more

of similar price (including iStore), due to the following I selected the Aquatech RAPID X6: - Hitech Hot Water mentioned that Aquatech presently offers a 7 year warranty if a Product Review is submitted - Decent GMCC TOSHIBA rotary compressor (most alternatives don't state the brand) - Mobile App to set heating mode, water temp and timer - LCD display on tank - Smaller capacity of 225L was preferred - Quiet when running (42dBA at 1.65m) - Includes back up electric heating element if the heat pump fails - Includes Non Sacrificial impressed current anode (should reduce maintenance) - On paper seemed to have strong and fast heating capacity I selected HiTech Hot Water (www.hitechhotwater.com.au) to supply and install a Aquatech RAPID X6 as their price was reasonable and they recommended the Aquatech RAPID X6 due to a present 7 year warranty offer. I negotiated an additional installation charge as access was more difficult than typical. The install went to plan, my only complaint being that the plumber did not have any pipe with him to extend the short condensate pipe or the blow off pipe that comes with the X6 (make sure you specifically ask for these when placing your order). Its been running faultless for the past 10 days and I am very impressed with the quietness and speed which it heats the water. I run it on the Eco mode at 57c and once a week increase to 60c. The heat pump seems to run for several hours every other day when the tank temp has dropped to 48c. With each cycle it seems to produce approx 2L of water so its best to ensure that during install the condensate pipe is plumbed into a suitable and drain. The Mobile App was easy to get up and running and does what is necessary. Its too early to know of any energy savings but I am fairly certain this will pay for itself after a few years. Just wish I had installed last years as the price was approx $1k less. My initial impression of this product is very good.

I’m extremely happy with this Aquatech heat pump which was purchased to replace an older leaking solar HWS which had served me well for many years. them I chose to purchase a heat pump instead.

This pump provides more than enough hot water for my needs, with the added benefit of being able to schedule its heating times during certain hours (i.e.daylight) to take best advantage of my own solar power generation during that time. In essence, using my own solar power to heat the unit thereby reducing my overall electricity bill.

Whilst settings are visible and programmable on the unit itself, you can also monitor the pump’s operation and change those settings remotely via app (which is free with no ongoing charges). The app allows you to easily alter the current heating schedule, the default temperature or even the default mode. For instance, change to eco mode if going on holidays etc.

In summary I can highly recommend this Aquatech heat pump, as well as Dan and Carla of Hot Water Heroes on the Sunshine Coast for their invaluable advice and truly outstanding service during the installation process.

Just had one installed and performs as specified. Chose this make and model because it has equal/similar reviews to the IStore, the specs specify quieter operation than IStore. The Rapid X6 tank size (225Lt) suits my requirements better than the 180Lt or 270Lt Istore. It has a non-sacrificial anode with a backup anode which means less maintenance costs. Show details

2 weeks in after a flawless install by PowrHouse, the RapidX6 has performed perfectly. Upgraded from a 25 year old gas tank, it is really good to know that I no longer have gas being lit in the middle of the house. Have found no issue with speed of water out of the taps, heat is good and long lasting and the noise from the tank is a non-issue. Wifi control works fine, although not very necessary to be honest. Show details

the unit frosted up and went into the defrost mode. Typical of heat pump and air conditioner units. My electricity bill is not due until August, so can’t comment on economy of unit. The installation process was very efficient and quick. Aquatech took care of the whole process and we only had to pay the balance. The installation was also very efficiently handled, all done in 2 hrs. Overall from beginning to end everything ran very smoothly. We were impressed.

Follow-up  · The noise level is the same as the fan noise of a split air conditioner except it is outside. Not really a problem. It has performed faultlessly. Quarterly electricity bill $260. The unit runs for 2/2.5 hrs to recharge. When we get 3 hrs of electricity each day we will get hot water for free. You can adjust the timer to suit the free period.

Clean & neat installation from (Adelaide Hot water.com.au). Replacement of an existing 250 liter electric storage unit. Being fully off-grid this will result in less cycling of the Pylontech US3000 batteries in the middle of winter & reduce the kWh usage to less than half of the old storage unit per day. Show details

Follow-up  · The HW unit handles the winter here with ease. Temps here regularly down to 4°c. With a 2 person household there's plenty of HW for 2 showers each a day. As previously described the installation process was easy through the supply company.

A great buy for a reasonable changeover price – We had an Aquatech Rapid/X6 installed on 10 May 24. After enquiring about the system with Aquatech, I received three… Read more

requests for information to enable quotes to be provided for supply and installation. All quotes were very reasonable and with little price difference. All quotes showed the various rebates available. Communication with all who provided quotes was easy and ready responses received to questions and queries were answered. I chose Melbourne Heat Pumps for the supply and installation. They did an excellent job, with Mattee the plumber, followed by electricians Gary and Mark(?). The old gas water heater was removed, the heat pump put in place at the same external site as the gas water heater, and connected through to the main switch board (as requested). The job was done quickly and efficiently and the site was left perfectly clean. I was advised by Mattee to set the heat pump to come on at 10:00 a.m. and off at 5:00 p.m. As we shower in the morning I queried whether the late start would still be O.K. ‘Being a doubting Thomas’ I initially set it at 6 am, the water was extremely hot for a shower. Each following day I set it an hour later and found the water still hot for morning showers. It is now set at 10:00, and I am considering setting this a further hour forward (maintaining the 6 hour period recommended to avoid legionnaires disease!). The heat pump has worked perfectly, is readily set to the hours required, has not been noisy and meets all our needs. It is too early to determine the cost advantage. The Aquatech Rapid X/6 was available at a reasonable price compared with many other heat pumps, and with the rebates provided, was a good buy. I would recommend a change over to an Aquatech heat pump from a gas hot water storage system.

Follow-up  · The heat pump is now close to 2 years old. It has performed well in both hot weather and now in winter. It heats up to 60 C degrees from about 39 C, taking about 3 hours from 12 p.m. I have it set to operate between 12p.m. to 5 p.m. each day. It retains this temperature too about 50 C for the next morning. There are only two people in the… Read more

Noise Pollution – What's with all of the incentivised reviews for this brand? o.O Internet searches suggest that the 42dBA this unit supposedly runs at, is roughly the same as a whisper, or a refrigerator running. I can walk past my fridge and not hear it at all. However, this unit can very easily be heard even in the middle of the day, from within the house with… Read more

the windows closed, or from outside, on the other side of the house. If you allow this unit to run at night, it will wake you, and your neighbours. Its default setting is to run whenever it drops below 55 degrees, from its default maximum of 60 degrees, so it will run often.

In America heatpumps are generally installed inside garages, or in cellars, and this seems to be what they are suited to. Installed outdoors they should come with soundproof/dampening enclosures (which should also be covered by the government rebates that sway people into buying heatpumps in the first place). Consumers should be made aware that if they do not want their heatpump to be the dominating sound of their own, and their neighbours daily existence, they need to be open to installing an enclosure (which would need to be approx 1.5m2 to allow for airflow).

This particular unit has a restrictive control interface, it also comes with a 3rd party app which allows for some more flexibility, but Aquatech instruct customers to not use the app in case it fails. The unit also comes with an eco mode, but yet again Aquatech instruct customers to not use that. Weird stuff.

It should also be noted that hot water systems in Australia are legally required to output a maximum of 50 degrees for safety reasons. Testing with multiple thermometers at the closest tap to this unit proved it to be outputting 55 degrees. This can be adjusted via the tempering valve, if you are aware that it exists. 1 full rotation of this valve = approx 5 degrees for us, there are no markings/settings on these valves.

A quick internet search, or even a quick shower, will show how important this temperature regulation is. Even at 50 degrees, an adult can receive a 3rd degree burn in 5 minutes, at 55 degrees that only requires 30 seconds, and at 60 degrees that becomes 5 seconds. Even at 50 degrees, a child can receive a 3rd degree burn in a little over 1.5 minutes, at 55 degrees that only requires 8 seconds, and at 60 degrees that becomes 1.5 seconds.
