Worth the value – I bought this car in 2013, honestly everytime i get inside, its still got that new car smell. It has been so reliable and efficient. I get it serviced once a year. Its great on fuel and runs smoothly. Its almost been 10 years and i love everyday i drive this car. Very spacious boot and seating space. Show details

If you love a squeaky steering wheel then go for A4 – Audi A4 has an operational issue (according to unhelpful Audi Customer care) that you are going to hate and that is it is the Squeaky steering wheel. After taking to authorised repair centre finally Audi Australia came up with NO FIX. According to Audi it is perfectly safe to drive even if you get distracted with this constant noise- great answer.… Read more

Be careful while buying this model. In addition, with my car the coolant started leaking at 55K and fuel flap became noisey. These are easily fixable but may cost you fortune if your car has run out of warranty.

Worst car i have ever owned a total nightmare – My audi a4 has been a total nightmare the engine has blown up the dsg gearbox failed and Audi have been totally unhelpful. I have been put off ever buying a German car again. Audi's aim is to deny known defects and make the customer's life as difficult as possible when trying to resolve an issue with their cars  Show details

Great car, horrendous service costs as car life goes on – I fancy myself a bit of a car nut, so I was pretty happy for the first two years of ownership of my second hand 2010 Audi A4 B8 1.8TFSI. It drives well, it's extremely comfortable, the tech in it rivals new cars despite its age, and it just looks like a beautiful car. My main gripe has been service costs. At just under 10 years old, and shy of… Read more

150,000km, the Transmission Control Module died which warranted a $4300 repair. I was not happy but understood it's a second hand Euro car so that costs are expected ...

The main gripe I have is that after the independent mechanic ordered the part from Audi, at no stage did Audi inform him that the car would need to be sent to Audi for coding. Independent mechanics can no longer code TCM's themselves. So Audi decided to hit me up for 4 hours labour for practically nothing.

As much as I love the car and the way it drives/handles, I would say beware when buying a second hand Audi. Yes you get the car at a discount, but Audi will make you pay in parts and maintenance costs ...

Great car – Best car ever had without any problems. Very durable and reliable. The acceleration is not as good as BMW in the same engine range as BMW has valvetronic system which also can damage their engines. Drive smooth and nothing to be worried of. Definitely recommend if you can get a good price with a good gearbox.  Show details

My car was all I had :) – Bought the 2.0 turbo diesel model 1 year ago. Driving it is very comfortable. With the leather seat covers, they provide less heats in car space. The back seats have good space for passengers that I received few good compliments from several Uber rides. The only shame is it lack of bluetooth media audio, had to buy an adaptor to bypass this ‘fault’.  Show details

Smooth, comfortable and reliable – German cars are 'my thing': being a long-term BMW driver, I decided to give Audi a try.....What a difference ! Great breaks, the engine is silent and the fuel efficiency cannot be ignored. I like the seats and the ergonomics: the buttons on the side of the seat make everything so user-friendly. other functionalities on the steering wheel allow the driver to safely manoeuver the car and use the multimedia system simultaneously. Great experience – Have had the A4 2.7TDI since new and it has been a really good car. The 2.7 diesel is a terrific engine and did not get caught in the cheat software scandal. Plenty of power in reserve that comes in handy on the open road. I think the current 3.0litre is essentially the same with extra volume and power. Very comfortable for long trips. … Read more

Overall it has been very reliable, with just a couple of hiccups (1) with the catalytic converter (which failed about a month after the warranty expired, but I managed to negotiate successfully with Audi Australia to replace it), and (2) very annoying and expensive failure of the GPS (including $250 to paint the shark fin the car colour!). Other than that, each annual service tends to cost a bit for fixing normal wear and tear (engine mounts, glow plugs, steering arm bushes etc). There was a noticeable increased responsiveness, and reduction in fuel consumption around 50,000k. I hear this is a common experience with diesels. Had done 115,000km until we bought a VW Touareg SUV recently. It still looks and drives like a $70k car, but was almost worthless as a trade-in, so now our son is enjoying it.

Nice to drive, terrible car – Had nothing but problems. Central locking failed, transmission mechatronics failed, and finally the engine failed at 105k km's.. Audi servicing I experienced was expensive, arrogant and ignorant. I loved driving this car and it looks great but that's as much as I can say that's positive. If you buy an Audi, get rid of it before the warranty is up is my advice..  Show details

Amazing car love it – So different to drive than a commodore. All parts of this car make it beautiful. The leather, the performance, the handling. Very nice to drive and low fuel consumption but not as low as advertised. Will always stick to European cars from now on. Wish it had fold in mirrors to protect when parked.  Show details

Oil consumption and mismatched gearbox – Like many others, my car suffered from heavy oil consumption. I disliked the geabox, the CVT never matched the turbo engine from takeoff. Rolled badly in uphill starts. Had smooth ride and great fuel consumption (if you can believe the VW/Audi gauge). I switched to Mercedes which has vastly better quality. I won't buy another Audi, despite owning four of them in the past.  Show details

Its an ok car! – It's comfortable, driving is nice but not comparable to a BMW 3 Series so if you're coming from a BMW, might be worth going back to BMW. Audi A4 2009 Excessive Oil usage and gearbox unreliable – I have had all the problems that are talked about in these posts. The excessive oil fault cost me $6000 to fix as I had missed a service and Audi say that mixed service may have caused damage, although there were 1,000s of the same model recalled in the US for this problem. I had complained about excessive oil consumption for years and I had… Read more

been told that it was "normal" for Audi to use a lot of oil as Audi's have a lot of moving parts. I am not sure what kind of car doesn't lots of moving parts. Finally they agreed to to the oil test and said it was normal. 3 weeks later the oil light was on again, and I insisted they do the oil test again which it failed. I have been lied to so many times by Audi, they I would trust anything they say. I have also complained about the jerking into 1st gear and erratic behaviour of the gearbox. Sometimes it wants to go, sometimes it doesn't. It is like playing Russian roulette when pulling into traffic. Again, I was told by an Audi technician it was normal for Audi and that "these cars are not meant to take off quickly". It is due for another service and again I will ask if they can do anything, but I am sure nothing will be done. If anyone asks me about my car, I ward them off buying an Audi, as they build crappy cars, but claim to build luxury cars. They definitely don't stand behind their name "Audi" - they lie and cover up their design faults to save the company money.

Same issues but Audi Aus now coming to the party – I owned a b7 1.8 normally aspirated before this. It was a beautiful car to drive. Great dynamics and road feel. up at the right price and I read about the oil issue and asked the owner who said they had not experienced the issue. bought the car and then oddly it started using a litre of oil per about 400km.

Having read that it's a known issue I approached Audi with an outcome in mind. It was a design error, it was below my expectation of the brand for a car with 80k's on it. They fixed it at no cost and were really, really nice about it. Go through a dealer though, not direct to corporate. Follow the process, don't be a dick, you will get a good outcome.

The engine when running correctly is wonderful and though ye, it does slide backwards down a hill, I'll put up with this for all the other benefits. Put your foot on the brake ffs...

Shaky start to love affair – Bought my A4 Avant 2.0L new in 2010 based on quality, practicality, performance and looks. Within a few months, the excessive oil consumption issue arose. Audi explained likely problem and ran their required processes, resulting in new engine from Germany; no cost to me; other than time and anxiety. That was 6 years ago and has run like a dream since. Delay in gearbox transmission causing jumping, wheel spin when does engage – Audi avant 1.8 fsi- from new, always had delay. Took into garage after a year and explained problem and Audi said they couldn't find it and never heard of it. Took it back in three times before warranty ran out, and made sure they logged complaint on records. One time they re set gearbox and that improved problem dramatically, but after 10 weeks… Read more

was back to usual problem. Took it back again, said they reset gearbox, kept car for 2 days to test drive, again said nothing wrong. This time no improvement with reset. Car also guzzles oil, in between services I have to top it up, which I have never had in my life and owned over 12 different cars. The problem is very dangerous, particularly when pulling out at roundabouts and junctions. You have no idea when the car will move so it's always a gamble. Have also noticed car rolling back when on hill - very scary as nothing you can do until car decides to engage.

Have asked garage if known problem, both Benfield Audi in Newcastle and the new garage that bought them Lookers - both claim to have never heard of the problem. Big cover up going on here no idea what to do.

Poorly designed engined. Audi Australia won't take responsibility – Exterior: nice, elegant design Interior: best in class. Transmission: the CVT transmission is an acquired taste. After a few months I came to like it, but I understand that "car enthusiasts" dislike it with a passion. which leads to excessive oil consumption. This has lead to a class action in the US, which Audi settled. Audi has agreed to repair the engines, refund oil expenses, and double the warranty period from 4 to 8 years. Unfortunately Audi Australia does not recognize the fault.

Really regret having purchased this car.

If you are considering an Audi (in Australia), don't google "oil consumption Audi" and read many stories of costumers being pushed around without having the problem fixed; it will ruin your day.

Lovely car -Hate the way it drives! – We purchased this car as a demonstrator in November 2013. It has GPS, Sports mode, Sun roof and drives beautifully on long runs and is very economical, travelling from Melbourne to… Read more

Adelaide on 3/4 a tank, BUT - I absolutely hate the Multi-tronic transmission. This car has a lag period from when you push your foot on the accelerator to when the clutch engages. I have had the car checked over and over and they said there is nothing wrong with it. It is so dangerous on the road when you are at an intersection or at a roundabout and need to take off when there is a gap in the traffic - we have had numerous close calls as it behaves randomly all the time and you cannot trust it to take off when you want it to. You want to go and put your foot down, nothing happens, there's a delay and then it takes off. In a panic you press harder as the car does not respond and then it bunny hops or does a wheelie as it takes off. On a hill it rolls backwards like you are riding the clutch before you take off. It also rolls forward or backwards when it is in reverse gear on an inclined surface or unlevel surface. before the the transmission engages. So scary, we have almost rolled into a few cars when we had parked in a tight parking spot - just horrible. Can't believe this is what they call superior European engineering. My husband absolutely hates it. You can't relax at all while driving. Even after speaking with Audi Penfold Burwood about all the problems we are experiencing (which they were more than happy to check out) there was no offer made when I said we want to change the car because of all the problems. This has to be a fault that is not being picked up. Our computer system has been re-set several times and the lag time changes after each time, sometimes it is much better but not still not good and sometimes back to being horrible. When the engine is cold all of these faults are more obvious. Can't believe we are driving a luxury lemon and no one is speaking up,

Great car - terrible transmission – I have a 2014 Audi A4 Avant 1.8T with the CVT transmission, purchased as a demonstrator in March 2014 with 4000km on the clock and has now done just over 30,000 km. This is my 7th Audi over 20 years - so I am very keen on the brand, especially the build quality and safety - but I absolutely hate the CVT transmission in this car. The… Read more

transmission lags on takeoff - particularly on hills, where it does a very good impression of 'riding the clutch' on a manual transmission, and the car rolls backwards before the transmission engages (it nearly caused me to go through my (closed) garage door first time I parked in my driveway). I have checked with Audi service and they tell me it's performance is 'normal' for the CVT transmission - but it's not like any other car I have driven and I definitely won't have another CVT!! My familiarity with the brand meant I only took a very short test drive before committing to the car - I will try longer next time.

Aside from my dislike of the transmission, it's a great car - beautifully built, handles well and very economical on a long trip (will go from Sydney to Gold Coast on a single tank). I still believe Audi is one of the best European cars on the market.

A great car – Have a 1.8T A4 bought new in 2014. Wonderful car to drive and to look at, though I mostly use it for urban driving (work, school pickup/dropoff). (legally) tap. Responsive steering, the Pirelli tyres are just beautiful - not looking forward to when they wear out as will be expensive to replace and may be forced on to a lesser tyre. Ride is a bit stiff as you'd expect.

My Audi dealer (Newstead in Brisbane) is excellent for sales and service. Great sound system and instrumentation. Faults, hmm, no auto-dimming rear-view mirror and the boot is a bit on the small side. It also burns some oil between services, but this is noted in the manual, and I understand normal for Audis and BMWs. Very good driving position and easy to know where all the car corners are for parking, even without using sensors.

Takes PULP (95) but also can take ULP (90) if you get caught out, but you'll notice the difference in performance and economy. The overall finish is very good - mine is Black Pearl so it shows the dirt of course but the paint finish is exceptional. Have had one recall for the transmission software which was something about its operation in very low temps - I live in Qld. so can't think it made any difference and was precautionary. Overall, I can't imagine ever not buying another Audi, whether an A4 or something like a Q5. Highly recommended.

Good car, but not class leader....yet – I went to the Gold Coast for holidays and was offered an Audi A4 B8 MY2011 by the rental company. in your rear view mirror. The grille and the angry slanty headlights complete the picture. The car had the right proportions on the wheel arches and it feels larger than its 3 series/C class competitor.

The interior did not disappoint. Good build quality, solid and refined. Chunky yet classy. My only complaint was that I couldn't understand that for a front wheel drive, why did they have to make a transmission tunnel between the front and rear seats? The fuex tunnel meant that the 5th passenger had to be either a 3 year old or an adult without legs.

The car could do with a bit more boot space as the shape of the rear end limited the vertical depth of the boot.

The driver's seating position makes you feel like it is a fighter jet, very ergonomic, and switches were well laid out. When I returned the car, I had covered almost 3,000km, and I can tell you that I was smiling like a little kid for every mile I drove.

The handling was good in the "S" mode or Sports. That would be the only selection I recommend, as a Great Wall Ute would have been a better drive if you used the drive "D" mode. I "conquered" Mt Tamborine in "S" mode and was very impressed with the small 1.8 litre engine. It handled the hill climb quite well and was holding between 3000 to 4000rpm most of the time.

Fuel consumption was excellent and I managed to get pretty close to the ADR/81 figure of 7.6L/100km. I averaged about 8.2L/100km which is not bad considering I pushed the car and was on sports mode most of the time.

Overall impression was that Audi had made a big improvement and will appeal to ordinary people who would take 3 passengers (not 4 as the middle 5th seat is useless) and wants a premium marque to take you from A to B. Build quality, feels solid, comfortable seating, looks the part... and THE Four Rings badge. Useless 5th passenger seat, compromised boot space, hesitant gear changes on lower gears when in drive "D" mode

name) changes with the weather, like the sea.

The inside is beautifully designed and like an Apple product everything (well, almost) is understated and just works. perhaps like other new cars you tend to set things and then forget...which is how it should be.

Auto headlights? Why would you wants anything else. Electric seat adjustment. Set once, then forget.

As a new car buyer the Audi folk treat me like a special customer and support and service is exceptional. I suspect they treat everyone the same.

My only tiny gripe is that when using the SD card option for music one has to be careful of the format (MP3 only, so far) otherwise it doesn't want to play, literally!

My next car will be...
