SHAME, SHAME, SHAME ON YOU My young son took his car to Auto Masters Canning Vale on 04-02-2026 expecting honest advice and fair pricing. Instead, he walked away with a bill of over $2,400. Yes, a battery was included in the work, but the price charged for it — along with the overall invoice — was, in our view, completely unreasonable. As a… Read more

young driver with limited mechanical knowledge, he trusted the advice he was given. Unfortunately, that trust was not respected.

What made the situation even more concerning was that he was also told the car needed new tyres, even though those tyres had only travelled about 10,000 km. Our previous set of the same tyres lasted roughly 40,000 km, so that recommendation immediately raised serious questions.

After reading through many other reviews, it is hard not to notice similar concerns being raised repeatedly — high bills, unexpected recommendations, and customers leaving feeling they were pushed into work they did not truly understand or expect. Several reviews from women and younger customers describe very similar experiences, which is troubling.

Before the standard response appears saying “we can’t find the booking”, “this isn’t an authentic review”, or “there was a video explaining the work”, let me be clear:

• This was a real visit to Auto Masters Canning Vale • The date was 04-02-2026 • The invoice total was over $2,400 • One of the recommendations was for new tyres at only 10,000 km

The issue isn’t that work was done — the issue is pricing, transparency, and trust. When a young person takes their car in, they should receive honest guidance, not leave feeling like they have been talked into excessive costs.

I strongly suggest anyone — particularly young drivers, women, and families — get a second opinion before approving major work here.

In our view, this was not service — it was opportunistic selling dressed up as advice.

This experience left us feeling that a young customer was seen as an easy sale rather than someone who deserved honest advice.

Awful Experience! Took my car to Auto Masters in June for a service — they found the turbo pipe was broken and being held together by cable ties, then quoted me to repair it. I declined and went back to Volkswagen under warranty, who advised that… Read more

these pipes don’t just “break” — it was clear pressure had been applied. When I went back to Auto Masters, they claimed my car was already like that in December when I had my previous service done with them. They provided footage which only showed the engine partially covered — hiding the area in question. I paid over $1,000 for that December service (including $700 worth of “recommended repairs”) and yet somehow, they didn’t notice my engine was cable-tied together? Their own December service reports stated no issues with the engine. I would expect that a company that prides itself on “thorough” servicing and safety checks would have picked up something so serious. Consumer Protection has now advised that Auto Masters have taken no responsibility. Their only offer was to “fix it at cost” — which is completely unacceptable. I have since had the car fixed via the dealer direct and I will be escalating further.

Follow-up  · Responses to follow up questions: $295 diagnostic review from Voltswagen to advise how it was broken. I have a report from Voltswagen advising the retainer clips do not just break and have been snapped during removal to complete works below, eg spark plugs. Replacement part was just over $800 ex Germany and had to wait 6 weeks for genuine parts.… Read more

Let the Buyer Beware: My Experience with Auto Masters Choosing Auto Masters is starting to feel a lot like taking a gamble at the casino—too many unknowns, and too much at stake. growing list of people who feel their experience needs to be shared.

I took my work van in for a routine oil and filter change on a Saturday morning—nothing major, just standard servicing. I picked it up just before closing at noon and drove off to attend to a client in Perth’s CBD. Unknown to me, the van had been leaking oil from the newly installed filter for nearly 30 kilometers. I only realized the issue when I arrived at my client’s site and saw the van continuing to leak oil all over their pristine paved sidewalk.

That’s when the real frustration began.

Auto Masters closes completely over the weekend—no emergency help desk, no technical support, no guidance. In 2025, I find it baffling that a business of this size and scope still doesn’t offer any form of after-hours assistance. All you get is a third-party service that answers calls, takes messages, and assures you someone will get back to you—eventually.

Left with no support and unable to leave the van leaking oil in the CBD until Monday, I had to act. I contacted RAC, but since I wasn’t a member, I had to pay $355 upfront for a membership and technician dispatch before a tow truck could even be arranged. I chose this as the most affordable option at the time. Meanwhile, my own 24/7 service business was at a standstill for three full days until the van was repaired and back on the road.

I called Auto Masters’ Head Office at 9 a.m. Monday and eventually received a return call around 2 p.m. from the Operations Manager. The call, from his mobile phone with poor reception, was less than helpful. I was given the usual runaround and told they “could have arranged a tow”—but only if I’d left my van leaking oil in front of a high-end client’s premises all weekend.

To make matters worse, the Operations Manager began debating the reimbursement for the tow costs, suggesting I should have booked a standard tow truck for $700 instead—implying that might have had a better chance of being reimbursed. Seriously?

Having worked in this industry for over 30 years, I understand the importance of honesty, accountability, and doing the right thing when you're at fault. I’ve always believed in making smart decisions that reduce pain and inconvenience for my clients. Unfortunately, I didn’t see that level of professionalism or maturity from Auto Masters' Head Office.

As of now, I’m still waiting to see if my client will pass on the $1,000 invoice for cleaning up the oil spill. And I have little hope of being fully reimbursed for the unexpected costs I incurred, simply because I made the poor choice of servicing my van on a Saturday.

Lesson learned: Auto Masters sets the rules—and you're on your own if anything goes wrong.

Thieving [Content Removed] – They can't even do a coolant change, one car blew the engine(currently at $10,500 to replace) my other car, 70kms later turned out they broke the coolant bleed valve and "fixed" it with some sort of epoxy/putty that wore off within 150kms, still trying to fix that. Job was fine. Invoice had no details – I dont know how much the parts and labour cost for my rear brake repairs because these are all listed as $0 on the invoice which only shows a total cost ($830). This is a ridiculous policy of Automasters head office, not transparent and a bad business practice in my opinion. Invoices should have details. The Mandurah workshop was very clean and the work done was very good I believe. Just a strange invoicing policy.. Show details

Much welcomed Customer Service – After having a recent bad experience with the dealership which I had been using for 7 years, to the point I believed they had ‘sabotaged’ my car, I approached Auto Masters Joondalup for help. I made to the time I collected my car, the customer service was impeccable, something that I have not experienced previously. All the added little extras made me feel special. Even though it was a very expensive repair, explanations were given. ( I even did a little research myself and felt confident) I was taken into the workshop and shown all the parts that were replaced and also requested to return a week later to check that everything was ok. Why Auto Masters Joondalup- well I checked their reviews on this platform, more positive than negative reviews (people will always complain, but few actually commend people when things are good) customer service was excellent. Negative reviews also received communication in order to rectify the issue. I believe I have found my new place to service my car

Lies lies lies – We were Told that multiple things in the car needed to be replaced adding up to nearly $2000. Seemed fishy as that work had previously been done. And we had receipts. So we took the car home and Took it to another mechanic who found a simple plug had come undone, problem was fixed with no charge. So disappointed at auto masters mindarie. and there was a small leak around the power steering pump which he said was most likely the O rings on pressure hose. John told me the pump needed replacement and they would replace with a reconditioned pump. I was charged $995 and agreed as I don’t know about cars. My friend got a quote from Global Automatics in Bibra Lake and they recondition the pump and labour with genuine Honda oil for a maximum cost of $500 wow that is a huge difference !!!! I feel like I have been taken advantage of…… To make things much worse I pick up the car and there is a 40cm long crack in the windscreen which was not there when I drop off in the morning- I was very upset but they refuse to take any responsibility to fix. Eventually we went back and John said he would contact his insurance company…., the service is so bad I am extremely disappointed ☹️ I will NEVER be going back - be WARNED He also told me that the pollen filter was missing and I should be putting a new one. He said the exact same thing when I took my previous car in as well. I'm starting to wonder he's just saying this to anyone to make a little bit of money out of the people who don't know much about the cars. Again trying to take advantage of. Anyway,[Name Removed] attitude was not acceptable at all. So rude and talk down to me. Dishonest, overcharged, unethical. Terrible.
