Auto-Trail FB Questions & Answers
VerifiedHi guys, Just looking at purchasing 2014 AUTO-TRAIL FB LO-LINE.
Does anyone know any problems that can occur in this model / or if they are reliable or non reliable.
There may be non, but any input is much appreciated. Many thanks
Hi Pam We are very happy with our FB Auto Trail, having covered 80,000 kms in the six years that we have owned it. Most Auto Trail owners are in the Australian Auto Trail Owners Facebook group. It is well worth joining it as we pretty well know each other, it is a most valuable asset for asking questions of the knowledgeable owners.
I probably know the previous owners and the vehicles history. If you email me who is selling it and the owners name I can most likely give more info regarding the vehicle. Auto Trails are selling for more than the original purchase price and most sales occur by word of mouth within the group. Ours is currently insured ( agreed value ) with KT Insurance for $133,00 which is several thousand more than we paid for it.
There was a change in cabin design in 2014 which has the large headlights, the new look model and current design has narrow headlights with built in Daylight running lights. The engines are the same until 2020 when the revamped 2.3 engine became the only one available. By now a 2014 apart from the 3 litre engine which had a timing chain, around the $2000 mark model should have had a complete timing belt, water pump and associated bearings and guides replaced. It will be up for new batteries all around as well. $18,000 for good quality engine and two house batteries. Price will obviously come into the equation so you should have some bargaining power.
Best of luck. Jonathan
Hi Jonathan, just reading through your comments as I too was looking at a 2014 Auto trail FB Lo Line advertised by a company called AR Caravan Campers based in Yass NSW and WA. This particular one is housed in WA and advertised for $48,000 with low kms in great condition. My son told me this is too good to be true as too cheap. What are your thoughts, given your knowledge of these motor homes.. have you heard of this company?
What is fresh and grey water capacity on 2014 Autotrail fb
Hi Kevin Fresh water is 90 litre grey water is 140 litre With the 2014/15 FB it is very easy to place a second 90 litre standard water tank that can be picked up at BCF, Supercheap and RTM for around $100. Which is what I have done, it’s very easy to just let it gravity feed into the main tank, I installed a valve onto the side skirt so that when the main tank looks low on the readout I can then open up the valve and let the second tank flow into it. Just added a T piece into the main filler pipe. We still have our FB and wouldn’t swap it for anything else, that’s saying something because we had owned three other motorhomes and non of them compare to the Auto Trail and the Fiat
Many thanks for the information. Merry Christmas and all the best for 2022!
What is the mohawk model like ?
No idea, To the best of my knowledge they don’t import the Mohawk model into Australia.
If you have seen one that was not at any of the Auto Trail showrooms it will be a grey import and I would give it a wide berth.
Good to know !
What warranty comes with FB auto trail first registered in June 2016?
We have 2015 model that had 2 years Fiat Aust warranty including roadside assist , one year Autotrail warranty on the habitation area plus 10 years on the structure if inspected annually by an authorises AT service agent. I have noticed that the Sydney dealer for a time was offering extended warranty of 5 years on 2016 models in 2017.
Hi Greg Our FB that was purchased in December 2015 from Elite RV in QlD. All Auto-Trails are imported and distributed by Darren Nye who owns Elite RV, he then sends stock to Sydney RV and is currently in the process of building a specifically designed showroom in Victoria.
Auto-Trail themselves have done a deal with Fiat where all their vehicles have a 5 year Fiat warranty.
Fiat Roadside Assist is for 5 years if serviced by an authorised dealer ( which works out cheaper than grey market servicing and paying for an external breakdown service )
Auto-Trail has 12 months on general areas.
10 years on habitation area which covers leaks from roof.
The individual appliances screens, stove etc only have 12 months unless stated otherwise by their manufacturer.
All warrantees carry on the the next owner.
Some of these benefits are written into the contract of sale e.g. (5 year Fiat warranty) as against the Auto-Trail brochure which only showed a 2 year Fiat warrantee and 2 year Roadside assist.
The roadside assist can be extended when the 5 years is up.
As yours is a 2015 model I would expect that the above would apply.
Give Darren Nye a call on 07 55936140 our dealings with him have been very cordial.
