No problem adjusting my rate. Took a while (3 attempts to just get through) but got there in the end. Whilst the product is a bit average, the service more than makes up for it.

Non Covid Friendly and Terrible Fraud department
I'm shocked and disgusted by the way this bank handles itself, last year whilst overseas my card was used fraudulently to the tune of 14k all at a venue I was at for a short period of time. I asked them to investigate and send me the dockets which should highlight that the transactions were fraudulent and I was not in the same venue for 19 hours!!!.. which should have been an obvious give away something was not right in the first place!. Afters 20 or so calls and emails they admitted they did not access the dockets/receipts and as most of the t...ransactions used a pin it was down to me to pay and that was that, after reading the other reviews on here it seems like they just can't be bothered doing their job properly. I will be chatting to the ombudsman now as I can see I'm not on my own here. Move onto this year, as with most of us COVID has affected us all in some ways, after I put my mortgage on hold for a few months to see how things played out I just called to see what my options were moving forward and wanted to change from interest only to interest and principle which you think would be music to their ears given the current state of the economy and to decrease the interest that has accrued over the past few months but no! By way of background I have 9 months left of a fixed interest only mortgage and was told there is no way of me swapping to principal and interest without paying 11k break fees even though I was willing to keep the mortgage with them and lock in a new 3 or 5 year deal. How short sighted and economically irresponsible they are, they should be trying everything they can to assist long term customers especially with the current COVID financial climate but instead they look to make things harder. Surely someone at a senior level must have the hindsight to see their policies serve nothing but to annoy and drive customers away...? Come July I won't be a customer that's for sure... Shame on you BankWest & Commbank for letting this happen and hopefully a potential customer reads this and goes with a bank with ethics.

Hidden fees that never happened before...
Bankwest has been charging me foreign transaction fees when the products I bought were Australian. They said that if the transaction is processed in US then you get charged although the amount suppliers processed were in AUD. Both the suppliers in past 2 month have said that they processed it in AUD but the 3rd party they are using in US and they have never heard of such a case. Definitely going to change as soon as COVID settles down. I have bought from these suppliers before and never had the extra charge. They said as soon as you put your debit card details it is treated like a credit card. Really disappointed at their dodginess.
Hand balling is customer service these days
Speaking to a home loan staff me never Jessica D Home Finance Manager in WA, after she gets backs to be days/ week later, she advised she was going on leave and could not help, and to call up to get so one new.
I advised happy to wait and that works with Well with me.
Then refused to help saying must contact the phone number to get help. ( this was after the phone staff advised to use the contact us on the website)
Covid Hardship Package vs Hardship - Be VERY CAREFUL!!!!
After getting back from overseas earlier this year, I found out the new job I was going to was no longer, therefore unemployed and now facing issues with paying my mortgage. As well as in a Pandemic!
I got onto Bankwest website to request the Covid-19 assisstance package and it was approved a few days later, no questions asked.
Fast forward 3 months & now getting harassed with emails, text messages and calls from the bank & received letters in the mail stating that my accounts were in arrears. Really!!! I was informed that the Covid assistance ...
Worst bank ever
Worst bank ever, very inflexible with their policies. Have been with Bankwest for a while - okay if you don't require any assistance from them however, the minute you do, very hard to get hold of anyone, unwilling to assist you to retain you as a customer. just provide you with a template response. they don't care about their customers. App is basically unusable so is their banking website!!! AVOID AT ALL COST.
Most disappointing bank ever!
I've been with Bankwest since the 80's and it has now proven to be the least supportive bank of the 3 banks I deal with during this Covid-19 time.
I requested a moratorium on my credit card account as I had to shut my small business down and was only given 2 months of which at the end of, they then demanded that I pay the money I did not pay during the 2 months. So essentially all they did was accumulated my monthly payments during the moratorium!
The whole idea of a moratorium and requesting hardship support is to freeze your account. Very underhanded this was never explained to me at the beginning when I requested help. What's the point of having a moratorium?? My financial situation has not changed??

Beware of balance transfer of credit card
I've been with them for over 6 years and did several balance transfers from other credit cards but in the last one they start charging me interest when I thought my balance was all at 0% from a balance transfer.
They argued that I made too many payments outside the billing cicle and it went to that balance transfer so they charge me interest on other purchases
So unless you have nothing to do but checking when is your billing cicle, just don't do any balance transfer because you'll be charged 2% balance transfer fee and you'll end up paying interest like me.
Shifty way to deal with costumers if you ask me.

I've been with tgis bank for 15 years and after i expressed my disagreement ONCE about my credit card they sent a letter stating that they are closing my account. What a brainless place.

I have the worst experience in just opening a bank account. I applied for new small business banking, after my ID verification itself on the 14th day when i called them they said they will escalated my application process and its gonaa take 2 more days same stuff they told me on my previous call. they just made 1 day job to a more than two weeks job.

Efficient and a Pleasure to Deal With
People who have one negative experience are so quick to jump on a negative and review banks poorly.
My experience has always been a genuinely positive one with Bankwest. Even throughout the current pandemic, the customer service team has been operating 24/7. I spoke to the same rep 3 times with no wait time during one week and she was amazing to liaise with.
Their products are fantastic and although the rates are slightly higher (by only 0.2%) than some of the other independents, the security of being attached to the CBA is reassuring as a ...customer. The nine available offset accounts is a fantastic idea and the unlimited redraw adds to a very "complete" package. The process of signing documents has been well thought of for people in the eastern states and navigation of apps and products is extremely intuitive. Please do your research before listening to the naysayers as this really is a wonderful bank that provide a personal service.
Couldn’t access my money
During a pandemic of all times, I couldn’t do any online ordering or access my own money, now I have to swap over all my direct debits to another bank but I’m sure it will be worth it.
MOney transfer impossible
Trying to transfer money from BW to another Aust bank. they have to call you. if you miss the call - bad luck - they call you next day, or maybe the day after that- too bad if the money transfer is important or neede by a certain time. Completley unresponsive to calls. this is what happens when branches close and faceless call centres take over- you have to do all the calling and waiting for no response. Get your money out of this bank as fast as you can ( if you actually get it out).

Shocking customer service, only empty promises and they won't even cooperate with the Financial Ombudsman after numerous attempts to resolve the dispute over absurd fees and charges. The bank should be closed down for business.

Credit Card Application Denied
Applied for a credit card for overseas travel, was denied. Excellent credit rating, own our own home and investment properties, both on a good income. No reason given, can only assume, reading all the reviews, that because I work part time only this is the reason. Looks like we dodged a bullet - ING offer an account with no international transaction fees which is where we will be going.

Could be great but is counterintuitive and difficult to use
I recently joined BANKWEST for business banking. Online banking is always difficult because it is done at a distance but I have been with several online banks and my customer experience is awful every single time. BANKWEST is extremely counterintuitive in the following areas:
Language is confusing - every payment made has a reference to the BANKWEST bank account number not the bank account number where the payment is made to
Processes are difficult and complex

Started to really go downhill
Maybe CBA sucked the life out of Bankwest because the service used to be good and innovative. Been with them for over 7 years and it seems like they have frozen in time. They still don't do international payments, they hardly have any business services and they have non-existent business team.
As mentioned before, don't bother with credit cards through them, you'll just get rejected - even if you're on a high salary. All their loans/credit cards are a super expensive rate too, honestly, any bank is cheaper than these guys.
Had a dispute paym...ent on my card, they just gave me a canned response asking for evidence after I provided them evidence. They told me to fax a response (lol... in 2019) with 1 day notice or it won't be looked at. This ship has sailed folks, pack your bags, its time to move on.

BankWest is the most secretive and obstructive organisation I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. I have asked the bank on a number of occasions and been fobbed off. This bank has lied, obstructed, misinformed on a simple attempt to have an additional card issued. Every time I have followed the directions given the goal posts have been moved. STAY AWAY FROM THIS BANK.
