Be very wary of banks that require a selfie. You cannot get a new face issued when they get hacked. And they will...eventually. And when that happens they will only say "sorry, we did our best to keep your personal details safe". Yeah right. They only tell you that a selfie is required at the end of the application, after you have already given them all your personal details and ID. Without a selfie you cannot finalise the application. Eventually received a letter in the post from them saying I'd been declined! Unbelievable, considering my financial situation and great credit record. Not good enough for Bankwest apparently. Now my credit score has gone down (800+/100) due to their credit enquiry which is infuriating as it may affect the very thing I was trying to put myself in the best position for - refinancing. customer service for assistance. I waited for 45 minutes to get connected to a customer service, was told the reason for the failed verification was because the scanned image of my ID was not clear and asked me to resubmit my verification form at Australian Post. I went to Australian Post to see the same person who did the verification me, she was surprised for the reason of failed verification. She did the verification process again and even show me the scanned ID to make sure it is clear before the submission. However, I received a failed verification notification from Bankwest again. I rang Bankwest customer service again but decided to give up after 1 hour of waiting.

Always reducing staffing levels, empty teller windows, long ques, smaller branches. Now since being an only online service, it's as if they feel no need to justify such abysmal customer service. Everybody I spoke with prior to the Bankwest sale said the same thing, "The Commonwealth Bank will screw us over." AND... hey presto they have. Profit before people. The commonwealth Bank promised never to shut down Bankwest so they just closed all the branches and went online only instead telling business customers to go to Commonwealth.. .
Follow-up · I was asked to do this follow up. Maybe this is something the bank and the Government that allowed this to happen should have done before betraying so many customers... My parents have been with this bank for over 70 years and they struggle with the system in place which upsets and confuses them with every use.

Due to the lack of clear communication and inaccurate advice, I cancelled the card immediately. It’s very disappointing that they couldn’t even provide correct details about their own product.
It cost me over aud100 to make an international call only not to be able to resolve the issue. I'm over it - changing. UPDATE - I changed. The difference is like being able to live again. After 30 years of banking with Bankwest and their foray into a failed attempt at digital banking is astounding.

Went to my account with WestPac - immediately increased my limit to $85k and payment made by OSKO, so the money was transferred immediately. So tell me again why BankWest couldn’t do that ? I have complimentary travel insurance with my Bankwest Platinum Credit Card. Whenever I try and speak to someone in the Covermore insurance area for a pre-existing medical condition you will wait a minimum of 60 minutes (today i waited 1hr 41 mins for the phone to be answered.) This is totally not acceptable or anywhere near good enough.
Terrible service all designed to make any complaints take more effort to be resolved then its worth. Don't worry though because if you ow them 4 cents they'll let you know through ten emails five texts and a nock on your door before you can open the app.
After a simple interaction and query online this then lead to multiple phone calls and being fobbed off, passed around, lied to, left on hold for over one hour ( " hang on, there's no one in the queue to that department, let me transfer you ") Another wait. This bank is beyond bad and useless. God forbid you had actually had a major problem with your money.
