Just thrown it in the bin – I finally threw it in the bin after it wouldn't start. I thought this mixer was going to do a good job for me but not so. Within a few weeks the silver started to lift even though I cleaned it and dried it well after each use, I couldn't believe it could do this so soon. I never made bread in it because the first time I tried it seemed to… Read more

struggle and I didn't want it to burn out. So I mixed cakes and biscuits, and icings, and that's all. It was heavy and I only used it infrequently because I hated lifting it out of the cupboard. I didn't have any problems with the attachments and the bowl was adequate for cakes and biscuits. So over the years I've had it, I would have used it maybe 30 times for light foods, that 's not exaggerating either. It is the biggest waste of money I have ever spent. Good riddance.

Nice machine, but! – Breville Food Mixer We purchased the Breville food mixer as the design is similar to the commercial Machines such as Hobart and Peerless where the beater, whisk and dough hook fit into the planetary head in a similar manner and being very secure. I also like the head lifting mechanism with the button on top at the back in conjunction with the… Read more

handle at the front. The stainless-steel mixing bowl is another plus. In fact, the whole design of the machine looks good.

After using the mixer for just over two years

the motor started "hunting" this means the beater speeds up and slows down. I took the machine to be repaired. The company contacted Breville to ask for a warranty but Breville didn't want to know. I asked the repair man not to touch the machine as I will make do. An additional quirk has now arisen, I don't use the self-scraping beater as I prefer to hand scrape batter from the side of the mixing bowl, sometimes the machine does not want to re-start after scraping down so I have now to switch off at the mains and switch on again for the machine to operate.

Our first food mixer was a Kenwood Chef and I purchased it second hand. It came with all the attachments, Liquidizer, Mincing attachment, Juice Extractor etc. This machine was with us 40 years. No prizes then for guessing which food mixer we will purchase when the Breville finally pops its clogs.

Good mixer with great attachments, poor packaging – Bought our BEM 800 mixer 14 months ago, scored the ice cream making bowl as a bonus. Generally works great, mixes well with plenty of power, not too noisey. Makes unreal ice cream. Then last week is just stopped. Called the supplier, Harvey Norman and as it was still under new warranty (24 months) they just ordered a new one and phoned us to… Read more

collect when it arrived.

The new one is the 820 but it is the same machine with a second bowl.

Assuming that this one lasts longer than the last one we will be very happy.

Failure mode was just stopped, lights come on to show full power when you turn it on at the wall but just no action, nothing. Apparently it is not something that surprised the staff so we may not be the first ones.

The box is something else. take extra care when unpacking it. Strangely they pack it between two bits of Styrofoam. One on each side. So if you are not careful when you pull it out, they can separate and drop your new appliance on the floor while you hold the two bits. All the accessories are on the outside and you need to be careful.

Breville, if you read this, change this system, it's just stupid. You can do better. If you can't do a top and bottom then put a strap around it so that the two pieces don't separate and spill the mixer on the floor.

Great mixer, looks good on the bench – I've had this mixer for more than 2 years and I'm very happy with it. I have the ice cream "Freeze & Mix" bowl and scraper paddle (BIA500) and the Scraper Whisk and bowl (BBA600) accessories, both are great and I use them regularly. I only use the spatter shield if I'm making something I know will be really messy (usually thin/runny mixes), the… Read more

rest of the time it's easier to just wipe up a stray glob or two rather than wash up the shield.

I have it in black and it looks great, which is good because unlike my old cheap mixer, it's too heavy to move in and out of a cupboard all the time. It doesn't show fingerprints and generally wipes down easily but there is a seam running horizontally all the way around the top/head of the machine that stuff sticks in that takes extra time and care to clean. Unfortunately some chipping has occurred along this seam, probably from the extra cleaning it needs. All the markings on the dial rubbed off really quickly, but there is a light-up speed indicator so it's not really a problem. The bowls and attachments clean up easily and are all well designed.

It was out of my price range so I waited and bought mine on sale with the Freeze & Mix included for $395, they're always on sale around Christmas.

Good quality for the price – I bought it about 6 months ago and been using it 2 times a week since then. I haven't had any issues yet, but had a bit of noise coming from the motor lately which isn't too bad. It's little heavy and not easy to wash due to size which isn't suit with the most sink in the apartment. However, I am satisfied with the performance as it works with… Read more

Very good, except the design – It's been 6 months using the appliance and I must say it is useful. light as stainless, and easy to keep it clean. Motor starts to make noisier sound than the first month but still not that loud. I use once or twice a week for bread dough, cookies or cakes. Design is not my taste, but except it, a keeper.  Show details

Love my Black Sesame Breville Stand Mixer – Have been happy with all settings and haven't had any issues over the last four years. Beautiful design (I have the Black sesame). Not happy, Jan – 1/ I bought it two years ago for bread making. I make two 3/4 kg mixes twice a week. Despite the recipe book having a 1kg bread recipe it labored early on. It then overheated and stalled. Now it is not fit for any purpose. It smells and stops. In my opinion the gearing is wrong for the task. 2/ I ended up wiring the large bowl to the base to… Read more

stop it free wheeling. The hold-down studs are inadequate.

3/ The scrapper hook for the small bowl is useless for doughs. It just plasters the mix around the bowl.

4/ The food entry chute for the small bowl is just a mouse hole. I modified the plastics to a usable size.

5/ It will whisk and also make biscuit dough in the large bowl. For what it does any cheap mixer will do.

For bread making I would not buy any similar looking machine.

Mixer, Scraper, Whisk, Accessories BREAK – I would suggest you avoid Breville mixing machines. My scraper broke in the first month of use. The whisk has broken - a piece is detached at the crown. particularly disappointing.

The on/off dial is faulty requiring several attempts to get it to turn on.

The machine vibrates on it’s hinges and rocks when in use. It looks sturdy and is heavy, but it is NOT ☹️ In the past I used Kenwood. I’ll use them in future.

Not Happy! – Initially thought this machine was a life saver until last week. 1 year 6 months old gear started to get really noisy! To the point it was so loud and a horrible sound- so took for repairs! 1. Gear replaced next day went to use it, beater wasn't turning so, took it back to repairer 2. Screws tightened Today, went to plug my mixer in and BANG!… Read more

loudest Bang sound EVER! and it tripped the switch in my meter box. Took the mixer back today, repairer has advised that the circuit needs to be replaced

3. Circuit to be replaced (waiting on parts, won't have my mixer for possibly 2 weeks)

Because the repairer felt sorry for me, he gave me his older model BEM to use in the mean time at no cost, but seriously??? I paid $370 for this product, it should NOT be having such MAJOR issues within 2 years of the warranty. And as I see from other reviews the gear issue is common and a fault within the product!

I'm thankful that the above mentioned issues have been covered under warranty, but still... Paying so much for such a product for it only to last 1.5 years? Makes me wish I bought another brand.

What to do when it dies outside of the 2 year warranty Breville? huh?

BEM800.. This has unfortunately been the death of it.. Well maybe not the death. With some assistance from the babies, Today (appropriately Mothers Day 20202 under Covid-19 conditions) the machine was disassembled. Given the work it has done the gears and bearings are in excellent condition, with exception of the 17 tooth spur gear which has 5 broken teeth. Surprisingly the mating gear is in excellent condition and as mentioned so are all other components.. Now where can I get this gear.. Breville. Can you be of assistance here.. I only need the part.

Brilliant! So Happy! – I absolutely love this mixer. I got it for my birthday and have so far made meringues and cakes and slices. hook. (I have yet to use the dough hook)

The stainless steel bowl has a nice, easy to hold handle and is light. I did purchase a second smaller bowl (on special 50% off) which is great. It has two D shaped handles. Both bowls are easy to pour mixtures from. Most mixers these days come with glass bowl which are very heavy and expensive if need replacing.

It is easy to clean. Even though it says the attachments are dishwasher safe I would not put them in there, just as easy to hand wash. Definitely recommend this to anyone!

Overall I love this mixer so glad I purchased this one over the KitchenAid.

Powerful motor, weak gearbox and dough hook – The gearbox has died after less than 2 years. The plastic coating on the aluminium dough hook wore off after a year. easily handles kneading 5 cups of wholemeal flour. The splash attachment definitely helps too. I’ve used all the attachments and they’re all great. I’m very happy with this purchase.

Scraper attachment NOT dishwasher safe!! – Great machine, although after just 2 rounds in the dishwasher the rubber part of the scraper beater attachment warped and now can't be used in the machine. Do not buy!!!! – Was happy with this for first 2 years then was mixing dough and it started making loud noise and wouldn't turn. Had it repaired however 9 months later the same thing is happening. Breville is now saying I have to cover the cost at approximately $250. So angry as I expected better from a Breville product. Why pay this to get it fixed only to have it happen again?
