Had it for 5 years, awesome – I bought one of these way back in 2010. I used it solidly for 5 years - at least 3 times a week, so 700+ times. Mainly for bread and cakes. Never had a problem with it. I treated it quite badly, mixing some very strong doughs etc. I've just bought a BEM800 to replace it, in fact this old BEM400 is still going buy I'm giving it to a friend.  Show reply

useless – I purchased in March in a combo deal from Target. Went to use it today and machine made a terrible noise starting rattling all over bench then started smoking, this is after about 30 seconds I was going to beat butter and sugar. I am not a huge baker which is why I opted for a not so expensive machine, but still figured I should get more than a… Read more

couple of uses and longer than 9 months out of machine, will be returning back to Target this afternoon, to see if can get a refund. the scales in the combo lasted as long. Lesson learned, going to go back to electric hand beaters appeared to be a good deal at the time now it works out expensive for the amount of use i got

Worn out in 16 months – Started making a grating whir noise in the lower gears and is getting worse. Have had the mixer for 2 years and don't use it more than every two to three weeks for mixing buttercream or a cake. Thought I would look for some reviews and sounds like the same thing has happened to many people. Very disappointing as it wasn't a cheap mixer! I… Read more

Baking made easy – Baking is so easy with this Wizz Mix Pro - It's got a good motor, many speeds, comes with 2 different sized mixing bowls. I went from using a hand held mixer to this and it's certainly made baking a lot more enjoyable. I've only had it for 4 months but I can't find any faults so far. Easy to use, 2 mixing bowls, inexpensive compared to what you can pay for a mixer

Make sure you buy the right version! You won't be dissapointed – This is the Best Mixer EVER. I love it. I use it daily. Breville have listened to their customers and fixed all the problems. I bought this mixer 12 months ago from target with the old beaters and took it back with in hours (despite reading bad reviews, I thought I would give it a go myself). I had all the same problems eg flicked butter, not… Read more

mixed etc. I wanted the next model up, but couldnt afford it. How delighted was I when I saw that Breville had listened and introduced the scrapper beater to this model. It is FANTASTIC!!! Mixes everything fast and well. Makes the best meringues ever. Folds gently as well. I am really impressed. I use it as often as I can eg - crushing biscuits for hedgehog, mixing ingredients for sausage rolls, rubbing in butter and then mixing the topping for apple crumble - any excuse. Makes great cakes and biscuits. Just make sure you get the "scraper" model. BTW they also added a bowl with a handle, which is great. Im really looking forward to getting the ice cream bowl to go with it. I also notice a spare bowl will be available soon as well. I love it - you wont be dissapointed. The scraper beater is fantastic. It is quick. A bargain for the price. I've seen them for around $200. Got mine at Big W If i was going to be really picky - It would be great to have a splash guard/ pouring chute - But this is very minor

My best friend in the kitchen :) – I have had the Breville Planetary Mixer now for 3 months, I am always looking for an excuse to whip it out and bake something. Put your ingredients in and stand back and marvel at this work horse in action. Everything about this machine is solid. Although the only issue I do have is the plastic splash guard which I find is quite flimsy in comparison to the other attachments, and a little clumsy to attach.

Great value – Ok so this was my second one they have both done the gearbox. I do bake and use it a lot so value but I need a heavier duty mixer. Easy to use and great to clean. Love it but not for my needs now. The mixer needs to have a stronger motor and gearbox and no more scraper beater as that is what has broken this one from pushing it up on the lid. Use was great clean and easy to swap blades. The gearbox and the weight.

Motor siezed after 14 months – I thought this was a good mixer until the motor seized whilst making a batch of buttercream after only having the mixed for 14 months. I used it a fair bit for cake mixes but it certainly should have lasted longer than 14 months. Of course no longer under warranty. I will definitely be investing in a KitchenAid in the future and would not by a Breville mixer again The scraper beater Didn't last long enough

Bad – Wasn't impressed with this at all and I'm glad it's gone so I can get a new one, would never buy Breville again after using this. I was sorry I bought this from the very first time I used it. I found it just dreadfull for reaching the bottom of the bowl and was forever having to lift and scrape. After a couple of years it started only going at… Read more

Misled customers – Bought this mixer, first one had burnt motor after 2 months. Had a replacement and burnt down again after 2 years of moderate use. The motor warranty only covers the part NOT LABOUR! Thus, I decided to open it myself and found out the motor to be Johnson U-8835 which is rated at 283W of maximum power (Google it) NOT 700W as what has been… Read more

Good – I do quite a lot of baking and use my mixer frequently, and have had this product for over 12 months. difference. I am very satisfied with my decision to purchase this product. I like the single whisk / beater more than the products that have 2 beaters as it is better for aerating mixtures (in my opinion). This is a very easy to use product that does exactly what it advertises at a much lower price than many of its competitors. Due to the shape of the bowl occassionally there may be a little flour left at the bottom if you don't mix thoroughly, but I have noticed this with almost every mixer.

Excellent – As far as I can see it's well built looks great and has a moderate price tag. I would liked to have bought the Bem 800 but was too expensive. Breville must have listened to the feedback from the Bem400 which is great to see. It's a little noisy with the scrape beater but is a small price to pay for the fantastic job it does! product Breville! I have just bought the Breville Bem410 Scrape mixer. Absolutely love it! Creamed the butter and sugar beautifully, no unmixed bits left in bottom of bowl because of the great scrape mixer attachment and no mess. Also has a handle on the stainless steel bowl too. And its the same price and look as this one but with upgraded features... None as yet..

The new version is outstanding!!! – Bought the new version today at target for $249 with bonus $99 scales. I bought the exclusive PLATNIMUN series which is stainless steel. The old version was good, but no handle, didn't fully mix the bottom and sides of bowl and breville… Read more

Breville Wizz Mix - Died after 2 years – Disappointing experience. This machine is less than 3 years, hasn't had much work, and has just died on me after mixing some dough. I could live with scraping down the bowl, but the fact that it couldn't cope with a few minutes of dough mixing was disappointing. Liked the look. Product should have had longer life. I'd estimate that it has cost me around $10 per use!!!

Terrible – So disappointed and really do not recommend this product. I imagine if I was making double batch it may have been a bit better, but still, once the butter is up the side of the bowl, you have to stop the mixer and remove it to scrape it back. It looked good! I did a lot of research on mixers and decided on this as I couldn't afford a Kitchenaid.… Read more

When I used it I was bitterly disappointed. 4oz of butter in the bowl and the mixer just flicked it up the side where it remained untouched. I had to keep turning it off, removing the bowl, scraping the butter and putting it back - where it would just continually get flicked immediately up the side of the bowl. After 10 minutes, I gave up and got out my old handheld beater to used that.

Died after 2 years – **2 year old version, only ever used for just home baking. Pro - It looks modern and is solid so doesn't move around when in use. Not overly noisy either. Cheaper than most other brands but I think you get what you pay for. Cons - Did always get to the edge so I would have to manually pause and scrape down the sides. It died after I doubled… Read more

Excellent – This is my first benchtop mixer and I am thrilled to bits with it. I have used it for biscuits, cakes, dough, meringue and whipped cream and found it to do each of these tasks fabulously. no unmixed ingredients left in the bottom of the bowl as other reviewers have experienced so I guess it could be the attachments need slight adjustment?? As far as scraping down the bowl, yes you do have to do this ocassionally (as does Martha Stuart with her Kitchenaid....lol). I would have loved a kitchenaid but couldn't justify the cost for the amount of baking I do. Overall I love my mixer and it looks great on the bench too! I love the look of the Breville Wizz Mix, nice sturdy machine with a powerful motor. Would love to have had a handle on the stainless bowl.

Good – I just bought this yesterday, so I haven't had a chance to review its functions. But a word of warning !! Don't put the Whisk attachment in the dishwasher like i did, even though the manual says its safe. It will oxidize and become grey and tarnished with grey soot. Solid feel Don't believe the Manual

Excellent – Love it, I have already bought one for my mum after a few pointed hints pre mothers day and on my recommendation a friend now swears by hers as well. what eventually killed our Sunbeam after 18Mths when it stripped it's plastic drive train. This next point may sound a little strange but I also like that it does not rattle. I tend to shake things in shops to see if there are any rattles, despite dark looks from sales persons, and this mixer is one of the few that does not rattle when given a good shake. It also does not hurt that it is less than half the price of it's US counterpart the Kitchenaid I still use my hand held mixer for small jobs, faster and less clean up. Nit picking here but a handle on the bowl would be handy sometimes.

Bad – Would not really recommend it. My old mixer does a better job which surprised me as its 10 years old and was a cheap one ! Bad – I have tried my hardest to like this machine as it was a birthday gift from my husband. But, I will be taking this machine back. Black and Decker mixmaster. Looks great The whole concept of a mixer is to incorporate air into the mixture. This slaps it to the side and leaves it there. You have to stop the mixer and then scrape it down, constantly. It defeats the whole purpose of it and I consider this a MAJOR design flaw. Obviously, whoever did their design checks, doesn't cook. Also, the bowl is way too big for single portion of cakes and biscuits etc. which adds to this problem. I noticed that when I doubled the quantity the problem was lessoned.

OK – Great if you are making large quantities but if it is just a batch of cupcakes, it is a long process to keep scraping the bowl. The look of it and the power The mixing bowl is too deep for the beating and the mixture sticks to the sides and bottom of the bowl.

Good – Love baking with it, it is great for big cakes and double batches, although I do often use my hand mixer in a bowl for small and quick packet mix type baking. Great product, brand is reputible and looks wise its a nice appliance which I don't mind leaving on the benc htop as I use it so often. Heavy - but you wouldn't want a light weight one that jumps all over the bench top!

Excellent – After years of using a handmixer i finally got a stand mixer! This breville one is about half the price of a Kitchenaid mixer (which is what i had always wanted but sadly couldn't afford). It performs very well and i have had no problems with it. flat beater, whisk, and dough hook. Unlike the previous reviewer i found this to cream butter and sugar extremely well. You just gotta make sure that the butter is at room temperature otherwise you will have a hard time (but that's the story with any mixer). I'm very happy with this mixer and recommend it to any avid baker out there. Sturdy, good looking, easy to assemble and clean, works like a treat, powerful motor, half the price of a kitchenaid Bowl doesn't come with a handle

Good – This is my first mixer with stand and I really like the quality. But if I have the choice and money, I will choose BEM800 as the flat beater has rubber around it which will scrap down the bowl side and will make my life easier. The most important thing is it is affordable unlike other decent machines starting from $400+ Good looking (I am looking… Read more

for a red one, but somehow found none in any department stores), solid, and great quality. A little heavy, I guess this is necessary otherwise it will be jumping around on the bench. Bowl is little too deep, doesn't have much room for me to scrap down the side unless I take off the bowl or take the attachment off. There will be very little ingredients stay untouch at the bottom of the bowl, need to physically mix it manually and turn the machine on again.

Excellent – Love it! It's heavy enough to stop it from jumping around the bench, without it being to burdensome. It's affordable. It's attractive enough to leave on the bench. It's made really well, and although a few people have said they hate having to occassionally scrape the bowl I think you'd have to do that regardless of what brand you purchased. Very… Read more

easy to clean and quiet. Am happy to recommend this product to anyone... I love it! It looks good (especially in red), works very well, quiet, affordable. only con is that there isn't enough room to get your spoon in the bowl if you need to scrape the edge, without having to either remove the bowl or lift the top bit up. Also, with two kids I would have preferred two beaters... minor thing, really.

Good – I have been trying different recipes since I got a few months ago and did not have a failure yet. I like it a lot better than my old hand held mixer. Terrible – I have mine returned after using it for 3 days. I have to keep scraping the bowl irrespective small or large quantities mix, and we are talking about 0.5cm thick of unmixed ingredient slaps to the side of the bowl. This is very frustrating and I rather spent $50 instead of $329 to get a normal hand mixer. Looks like Kitchenaid Doesn't work like Kitchenaid

Good – Overall this is a good product. My wife uses it all the time and loves it. She may not be a professional chef but she does a lot of home cooking from scratch - no packet mixes here! maker) so if you are looking for all that stuff then buy the Kitchemaid, but if you are looking for a planetary mixer, but the Breville. Looks great, price when compared to similar products, warranty backed by well known Australian brand. It doesn't cream butter and sugar very effectively because the attachement is too far away from the bowl. It is a bit heavy but so are the Kitchenmaids and Kenwood units as well. Could do with a handle on the bowl.

Terrible – I like the look of it but unfortunately it falls short where you need it most- in the creaming of mixtures. I am extremely disappointed Mixes ordinary cake batters quite well. Easy to assemble Only one size bowl. Creaming of mixtures very disappointing especially egg and sugar mixtures, does not give volume or creaminess.
