Should be removed from the market. A menace to society. Stole days of my life with the endless coats it requires. Torture. Pure torture. Every else says in their reviews how thin and watery it is, I was covering a light colour with a light colour, one bedroom. 20 hours of my life over some days flushed. expensive. Bunnings conned me like so many others say. I will never make the mistake of not reading the reviews before buying again. This paint is truly a menace to Australian society and should be forcibly removed from the market. It has no right to exist. It is irredeemable. Unconscionable to be selling this when all the reviews say the ridiculous amount of coats it needs. I will be 5 coats deep for this bedroom and still it looks patchy in parts. Biggest paint mistake of my life. Never again. I am ashamed of the human race that this product is even legally sold. Of course I had to buy more because the first 4L can ran out. 8L on one bedroom and still I am disgusted in the outcome. $150 wasted. British Paints are a shyster company for selling this UTTER GARBAGE.

Poor Coverage – As I was after a 10 litre tin and was hoping to save a few dollars a staff member recommended British paints . If only I had spent the extra. I’m painting the back area of our house , a few rooms which are a depressing neutral light beige. I purchased a white colour called Lovenote. I’ve had to paint 3 coats which is ridiculous . White over a… Read more

Good product – I’m a professional painter with 30 years experience. I used this paint for the first time to paint a bathroom, and I can honestly say I was very impressed. Great coverage, low odour and cheaper than dulux and taubmans. Not quite sure why there are some very bad reviews. Show reply

Garbage.. will take 4 or 5 coats to cover – This paint should be labelled as see through. Four coats will give you a poor result. Be prepared to do at least five coats for coverage. And thats going over a similar light colour. Show details

Should be discontinued – This must be about the worst paint we've ever bought. We wanted to cover a few little marks and imperfections on a white wall, but this paint left the wall worse than before we started. Everything had a brownish discolouration and the surface was very uneven - despite it being an extremely thin paint! British Paints should trash all remaining… Read more

Perfect and easy to apply – I used this in a bedroom. Having read the reviews, I was little cautious but this paint is perfect. The viscosity is just right, not too thick and not runny. Show details

Very thick and significant colour variations – British Paints, Clean & Protect, Walls, Low Sheen, Brown/Orange. I found the paint very thick and spent about 10 mins stirring to very little effect, so I resolved that this must be normal for this paint. My main frustration was that any overlaps with the brush or roller (I used both), resulted in a darker variation to the other sections of the… Read more

painted wall. After 4 x re-coats, the variation in colour was becoming more significant, and so I stopped and used a different brand, which spread much easier and gave me a consistent colour spread throughout the wall. In contrast, I had also purchased a can of British Paints H2O Enamel with the exact same colour (for another part of the house) and that painted on perfectly.

Paint is so thin – Bought british paints for the first time as we selected one of their colours for our newly renovated laundry. The colour we selected is a super super light blue which is going over an off white colour so you would think coverage would be great, WRONG! The 2 litre tin should have done 2 coats with some to spare but we have barely gotten one coat… Read more

on and the tin only has a quarter left. So disappointed that now we have to go and buy more and do it all over again.

Very good paint – I bought 15 litres of the low sheen to do a ceiling. Got a professional painter to do the job. He used a long nap roller. One coat was pretty much sufficient, but he put two on. It had to cover a few marks and grubby looking 35 year old off white paint. it did not take long to dry, and the smell was gone in a day, in cool weather, which is a great relief as I have problems with chemical smells. Did a great job, I would recommend it. Show details

Worst paint so far – Painted a garage wall and a bedroom off white with this paint - required up to 5 coats to block the darker colour in the garage and 4 coats in the bedroom which had cream coloured paint previously, can still see old paint. Water thin rubbish paint with very poor opacity. Show details

DON'T BUY – Purchased 6 litre and have just finished my 4th coat on new plaster. Prepared using Dulux primer. Watery, shiny, streaky and has to be the worst paint I have ever used, and I have painted 3 houses. I used high quality brushes and rollers. I chose BP due to the slight cost savings against Dulux , which I have always used, and which I've never had a… Read more

Watery and patchy colour (half hog bristle) – I usually use Dulux for walls, however, I decided to purchase British paints for a rental property due to the slight cost saving. However, I had to do four coats and I was only painting over cream. It would have been cheaper sticking with Dulux. FYI, I was using a high quality roller. Show details

First time user – I’m only 18 and I’ve never painted a wall before, but I like the outcome of my walls after using this paint. Paint smell won't quit! – I got the British Paints Clean Protect Walls version of a Dulux colour "Water Raceway" for a feature wall in my son's bedroom. room for almost 3 WEEKS since. Somehow the room still smells like paint! We have tried everything from fans, air purifiers, baking soda, water with lemon, vinegar, chopped onion, to heating the room with heaters for a whole day to bake the paint on. While the smell has weakened it is still noticeable. I am very upset as my son has asthma and has to sleep in a room with this smell. It says it's supposedly "low odour and very low VOC" on the tin. I have used Taubmans Easy Coat for two rooms previously and had no problems with paint smell whatsoever. I actually thought British Paints would be a better product but now I know better! I will NEVER use this product again and would not recommend it to anyone!

Terrible quality – The client bought this paint from Bunnings 15liters of British Paints Clean Protect, applied the first coat straight from the tin and i knew straight away that the quality was poor. I have been in the painting game for many years and this took 4 coats to cover over light cream walls. Took extra time as the rooms were large, had to buy more paint due to the coverage, will not buy this [paint again. Show details

If I could give less than 1 star I would! Beware!! – We bought all British paints: Ceiling, walls, gloss for doors and frames, 4 in 1 for prepping. Worst paint have ever used i will never use British Paints again – Will never use British Paints again. I run a maintenance company. Used British Paints for the first time. With sunshine on the walls of a hallway , kitchen and dining room you can see every roller mark and brush stroke. Color matched the walls and was supposed to be one coat freshen up I have applied 3 coats already and have to sand the whole job back and repaint. Has cost me nearly $1000 and my reputation. Show details

Great paint! – Easy to apply, great even coverage and dries lovely. Applied over prepped walls that were previously straight plaster, other wash & wear paint and suede effects paint. Perfect finish on all of them! Also, my clumsy moments of paint on the floors and window trims came off very easily haha.  Show details ·  1

Good quality paint – A very good quality paint. Easy application and great coverage. Smooths out brush marks when dry. Very low odour. Highly recommended for bedrooms and wet areas. Had the choice between this and Dulux. The key is in the preparation of the wall surfaces. My walls were poorly painted by previous owner. Left a lot of rope like marks due to poor roller finish. Went for British Paints as price competitive.  Show details ·  1

Big mistake – As an owner builder I did my own painting, Painted many homes over the years used Bristol but no longer around. Went to Bunnings and bought approx. 60/80L of British Paints Clean and protect for the interior. No matter how many coats it looks very ordinary not worth the/any savings Used Taubmans elsewhere and it's fine. One day will need to redo esp the ceilings.

British paints fail!!! Terrible paint very unhappy! – Finally have the time to write a review on the paint. We used British Paints Clean & Protect Low Sheen Paint for our new home in September 2015. Having painted several homes in the past 10 years i think this paint is total crap and does not live up to the much hyped advertising and claims! Specifically recommended by the team at bunnings coburg… Read more

as we only wanted to do one coat over an existing colour with the same colour. Followed the direction on the can. Stirred well etc. Bought the expensive rollers and already had the professional brushes. Even did 2 coats in some areas where there had been some moving marks made.

After only one week scuff marks were very visible and the slightest touch of hand would leave a mark.

Review for this paint ...

1. its meant to be LOW -SHEEN - i would be describe it as NO-SHEEN. It looks totally flat and in fact seems to have a slightly rough texture. 2. The walls mark extremely easy. Put your hand on the wall to put your shoes and it might mark. 3. Wash and Wear ?? well yes you can wash off marks ... but it leaves highly visible rubbing marks on the area you wiped. On certain angles you can see wipe marks very clearly and it makes walls look messy.

So for a brand new 5 bedroom double story home ,after only 3 months it looks worse than our old home of 15 years !

NOT HAPPY do not use this paint its expensive rubbish.

Just a quick update as its not 3 years later The whole house basically needs a repaint. From memory we spent well over $2000 on paint and mateials Plus 2 peoples labour for approx 7 days full time.

The house looks like it has been lived in for 20 years plus. Any where a hand has touched a wall has left a permamant mark. And the walls cannot be cleaned !

Total disgrace do not buy their products as they falsely advertise.
