Brother GS-2700 Questions & Answers
Is anyone could help me please? I’am having a big trouble adjusting the tension on the top :( I’ve tried everything I could to adjust but the tension still comes very loose and I am getting frustrated. If someone can help that will be very helpful. Thank you very much in advance.
Check whether u threaded correctly both upper thread and lower thread. Take both and thread again. it may helps. If u still having the problem, check where looping of thread occurs, whether upper side of the cloth or lower side of the cloth. Use different coloured threads on both sides so that you can easily identify where is the problem.
If looping of thread occurs on lower side of cloth while stitching, that means the upper tension is not proper. Then adjust it with the tension knob.
Also check you are using sharp needle and u are placed it properly. Hope it helps
Hiya, I have this trouble with mine occasionally - depending on the fabric thickness - I have trouble with the lighter fabrics or one layer fabrics Not helped by the fact that you can't adjust the bobbin tension. I believe there is a bobbin case for another machine that fits this, with adjustable tension - I'm gonna look for that. I am good with machines, cleaned, serviced, and using best quality thread, new needles etc. It still has the problem. I got my old machines refurbished and use them now in preference to this, depending on what I'm doing. It's good for donkey work on thicker fabrics, but I don't use it for any contsruction seam that is going to take strain.
Hello, I just bought the Brother GS2700 and I am struggling so much to find the overlock stitch. I follow the manual instructions but I cannot get with the number 18 and with the 3 neither. Thanks for your help

can brother GS 2700 sew denim cloth?
Yes can.occasionally I do that.
Once or twice maybe, but I've been doing denim and light weight canvas for a bit... and now the tension is all to pot, and I can't do anything with it. I'm getting my old pfaff repaired, instead of servicing this brother again. It's a featherweight machine, not sturdy or powerful, I wish I'd never bought it.

I’ve been wanting to make a quilt out of old jeans. Is this machine strong enough to sew through the layers?
Yes it should be fine... I find the space between the needle and the side of the machine is tight when quilting everything together so it's not the best machine for that.
And can get a bit wobbly on very thick parts but should be ok.

How do I drop the feed dog for embroidery?
I only just got the machine but would advise using the darning plate over the top of the feed dog.
Can you tell me what is wrong with the machine sewing backward instead of forward? (brother gs2700)
IT has got a switch for back stitching, if you flip it it should start sewing forward.
Thank you
I think the above solution by Rose results in temporary fixing of your problem.I think your machines problem is-the button guiding foot (located left to presser foot) is in lower position.pull it upward.you can fix your problem by doing this.
Where s the switch for this? My buttonhole lever is in the correct place but its still only sewing backwards.
Do this sew all type of stretcheable knit fabrics?
Yes.it will.we have to adjust thread tension according to fabrics.specific needles are also available for each fabrics.u will get details about thread tension from user manual.
Hi there I am planning to buy this machine but wonder if does this comes with all accessories? thanks
What kind of accessories do you mean? Like most machines it comes with the basics - a needle and a couple of bobbins.
the standard accessories like All Purpose Foot, Button Sewing Foot, Zipper Foot, Bobbins,Feed Cover Plate, Spool Holder etc.
Helllo Jane , I am planning to get too, Do you know if they come with the accessories when we buy the sewing machine on sale from Myers. Nothing seems to be mentioned on their site though.
Ok thanks. I bought already and it was sale in spotlight nz. I love it.
im planning to buy this machine, does it sew denim or other heavy fabric? thanks!
I've done a thin denim with no issues. I think you're supposed to get another needle for thicker fabrics.
Thank you!!
