If you have not already, try different thread. Adjust tension or use newspaper under the cloth to keep it firm then remove when finished

Rate?

Deziree T.

This is a simple, low-cost machine. I am not a sewing enthusiast, but I forced myself to make a house load of curtains and French blinds. The machine was only required to do straight stitching, zig-zag and backstitching, which was done almost perfectly. For a rate, cost 5/5, simplicity 5/5, finish 4/5, ease of use 4/5. If I were rating on value for money, it would be 5/5, but if my only rating were for ease of use and finish, it would be 4/5. This is taking the price into account. How it rates against a machine that costs 5 x the price of this one would be a 3/5. You get what you pay for and a little more.

check your manual. it should explain your tension adjustments for different scenarios. incorrect tensions can result to regular thread breakage. always try to sew on scrap materials of similar weight {thickness), weave, layers (2, 3 or more layers) and composition ( cotton, wool, denim, rayon, etc) as your project. also use correct needle for the project. Usually, universal needle is adequate, however, if sewing stretch, knits, use ball point needle. If sewing delicates and satins like silk, use fine sharp. If sewing denims or canvas or curtain materials (heavy stuff), use the heavier gauge needle.

It is good practice to test on your scrap material to test and adjust tension prior to starting new projects. saves you from ruining your project through unpicking and loosing the weave of your materials. So save some scrap (off cuts from your project) when you cut your projects for the intention of setting correct tension prior to assembly (sewing)

Using your scrap/practice material, sew an inch and inspect if its too tight on the top or the bottom. and test again. adjust accordingly, as per manual instruction (refer to pics for trouble shooting).

Good luck

LS 100 vs LS 2160 Which one is better ?

Deziree T.
Deziree T.

Depends on what you want to use it for. LS-100 is good for occasional use. (I used mine to make a house lot of curtains). If you want higher spec, go for something with a few bells and whistles. With the LS-100 you get what you pay for, a plain and simple little machine. Better is a relative term, better for what? Economy, power use age, storage, features...?

Try adjusting the tension dial on the machine (go lower) or threading the machine again to see if the thread is caught somewhere in the machine. You could also try putting the bobbin in the bobbin case again.

Hi there. My ls 2160 keeps on breaking needle.though I have figured out the needles hit the thoat plate.plz help me out to fix it.thank you

Naomi

What foot are you using? Some feet may not fit this machine and need to be adjusted. Also what setting have you got the stitch on? There is an option on this machine to do a straight stitch but on the left hand side, no.11, make sure you have the right foot etc.

Could also be a bent needle, your tension, the bobbin tension or a faulty machine. Best to check the manual's troubleshooting guide.

Sam
Sam

Thank you naomi. Presser foot is not the issue.as I removed it and then inserted the needle to check.it was hitting throat plate.instead of going inside the bobbin thing.

The parts that the bobbin fit in to fell off how do i put them back? Its a brother ls 2160

May
May

It is possible to put the parts back in as long as you haven't lost anything. The parts should fit nicely and there should be two small pivoting black pieces in the machine that you can pivot to fit into the dents of the largest piece to secure it into the machine.
