This policy is extremely good value for money. It is $30 a month cheaper than my previous insurer. I also now have 24/7 road side assist which I did not have with my previous insurer.

It was a good price over the phone and I was told you would send out in the mail the policy so I can have a copy of it the keep with my rego papers and green slip.
My policy was awesome, after speaking to someone I was upgraded to new for old at no extra cost because my car is brand new. Haven’t had a bad experience with budget and hoping it stays that way

Fantastic cover great policy and freindly staff
Policy was efficently set up. Policy of great value. Yet to lodge a claim.aproxiamately 3 years of being with budget direct insurance. Have roadside assistance but yet to use the service.
Is this even legal?
Where should i start ?
1. bumping up premiums even for customers that have not claimed even for once by more than 100$
and their website mention "No Claims Discount (NCD) is a scale used to reward safe drivers with a discount on their comprehensive car insurance premium. For each year that you don't make a claim, you receive an additional discount up to a maximum of 5 years"!!!
2. Road side assistance is inclusive in my wife's car that is on Gold comprehensive with budget direct but my car gold comprehensive dont have it included

Beware of no-fault claims disclosure
I'm currently shopping around for a new insurer as mine has gone up 40% despite being rating 1 and no at-fault claims. When I did the on-line quote I got 2 very different quotes depending on whether i had put in a claim (where I was not at fault and the other party paid for repairs) in the last 3 years. The difference was over $200/yr. I am staggered that a driver would be penalised for a no-fault claim. Apparently, it is what the underwriters decide.
I also note that another posting commented on a policy not being honoured for not disclosing a previous no-fault claim.
Lies and Coercion
I had a claim rejected because I used my own repairer and was told I had to use their own, even though I pay a premium specifically to have choice of repairer. The repairer they assigned me is on the other side of the country! I received a message after making the claim that someone would contact me within four hours. It took four days. And then they told me they were over four thousand kilometres away and couldn't help me. So I got the repairs done myself and now have to fight Budget to be reimbursed. They are a joke and I will go elsewhere as soon as this policy is expired. They also claim a 4.5 "honest customer" review despite this site showing 3.8 and declining.
You don't save much money and the service is terrible
I filed a total loss claim, it was due to an animal on the road, I was told I would need to pay the full excess. I agreed, I was just glad that my airbags worked.
Then the actual claim process took just under 3 weeks, and that is because I followed up. They arranged for a tow truck while I was in hospital being treated for my injuries, I was told they would have the tow truck company take photos of the car to assess and that the process would take 3 - 5 days. After 5 days of my car sitting there, they told me that it was not one of thier reg...istered tow truck companies and moved it somewhere else, to a location 1.5 hours away - the car is a Suzuki Jimny, it's not a Porsche but the parts are sort after, I was concerned that Budget Direct did not seem to care that they had left MY asset with someone they did not know before it had even been assessed. I was then informed that it would take an additional 5 days to get the photos. They blame COVID -19, I called the tow truck company and the sole owner was in good health and told me that he hadnt recieved any instructions to take photos. All of the budget direct consultants appeared to be working from home so not sure how a pandemic factored into my particular situation....when I called Budget Direct to let them know the Tow Truck driver had not received instructions, Covid-19 was not mentioned, but I was told that they would escalate. Due to my complaints and conversations with managers, assessment occurred within 2 days. I eventually received an outcome a week later, after a lot of following up on my part. If you are currently insured with them and are in an unfortunate accident, follow up! None of the time frames they provide are adhered to, they are friendly but they do not provide accurate information. Expect to be on the phone a lot and be pushed arpund to several departments.
Terrible experience in my claim of stolen car
I have been with budget from many year and never had any claims till feb this year when my car (Audi A4 2017)got stolen and it was recovered after 1 week in ok condition but with missing keys.
Since car has been to track right1 and then to brighton panels and now to audi zagame.
They paid for rental car for first 4 weeks(2 weeks as policy and 2 weeks extension) and i am without car since then. As of today (30 april) i still have no clue as when i will get my car back.
I have lodged dispute with idr team in mid march and a guy called me back after 4 weeks to suggest me that there is not much they can do and i have to wait. He further ensure that car is almost ready and will b ready to pik by 16 april.
I am not sure as what i could do next.
It's taken me an entire day and numerous phone calls just to renew a policy! I Had my old car with budget direct (gold comprehensive and no claims) and just bought a brand new car. I wanted to get insurance for my new car and the call centre team don't seem to know what they are doing. I have been put on hold numerous times and was originally quoted $790 and confirmed via phone that would be the final price and then when I finally received half (yes only half) of the policy it was for $1090... I am now back on the phone and have been placed on hold foe the past 20mins... which is why I've had time to write this review. She's stated I'm already locked in so I can't even change insurance. Cannot express my frustration enough!
These people are absolute dogs. Don’t care about you or your situation. Took over 6 weeks to resolve a claim and over 20 hours worth of phone call.I also have a newborn baby and had to use my wife's car and my family was stuck at home. They said they didn’t give a damn about my situation. I was left in the dark the whole time. Had to track down different departments myself. Was told false information by a nob end called [name removed] in the claims department. Would definitely not recommend these dogs!!
Adds terms and conditions including extras after
Budget direct added an additional extra because I'm under 25, this was not mentioned anywhere before I got the insurance. It does not make sense. How can a listed driver be made to pay additional excess for something the company already knows.
