Bushranger BRUROB7101 72V Battery Powered 30" Ride On Mower Questions & Answers
VerifiedMPN: ROB7101Mine Is a month old Bloody Rubbish Battery last no more than 20 minutes Go to take it back to Farm City AT Lidcombe I'm completely disappointed and dissatisfied with it All the faults above mine has Bushranger Australia your products sourcing Manager needs to learn how to source quality not junk from Weibang China
Is the battery and charger included in the price
Yes Catherine, the battery is already installed (make sure you can remove it and replace if it ever dies - the dealer wouldn't commit in writing when we bought ours). And you do get the charger as well. As mentioned in my review, just make sure you have a powerpoint close to where you plan on storing the mower though - it isn't very long.
Yes Battery charger included with machine takes 8 hours to fully re charge...If you need replacement battery expect to part with $1500 or contact a seller Alibarba and get a custom made 40ah life 3 pack for about $900 with 5amp h charger with battery controller
@Rats Have you got any links to the Alibaba battery or seller doing the custom Batteries? I'm possibly due for a new set and Bushranger want $2600 (not under warranty as it's 4 years old.) thanks!
only just used it yesterday and like a typical male didnt really read the manual . it mowed the lawn better then i expected though my only question is ..... i charged it all the night before so the battery was fine but the bloody thing would just stop on me and id have to turn off then on again and sometimes it took a few goes before it would start . i know this is not the case and obivously i was doing something wrong but it was like when a motor is low on oil and so the motor cuts out to protect it .... any help as to why would be greatly appreciated . cheers troy
I never struck that problem Troy. It makes very little sound when it’s active. Sorry to ask stupid questions, but are you sure it had stopped?? As noted in my review I often had to press the throttle several times before it would finally move off, and this would even happen on a full or near full battery. Perhaps yours has this issue too. Try pressing, releasing, pressing releasing until it finally moves off. Would be interested to hear how you go, and if it should happen when you’re near a power outlet I’d be interested to hear what level the charger shows when you plug it in ...
Thanks mate . I’ll try again on the weekend and do what u have said . It worked great other then that and I think it’s more to do with the operator and not the mower Cheers
Used it today and done everything you said Was fantastic. It only had half the charge as I didn’t recharge it from last weekend as it says to drain the battery before recharging . So my nxt question is is this right ? My experience with rechargeable batteries is u never go below 50% if possible as a battery only has so many cycles and the lower u discharge it can be detrimental to the battery Thanks for your reply last weekend it was reassuring and spot on Cheers Troy
Sorry mate ... only just saw your answers! This mower has lithium batteries. I’m not 100% sure, but from what I understand about this chemistry, they’re actually very forgiving when it comes to charging and discharging. It’s no problem to discharge them, just charge it up again fairly soon. You probably should verify this, as this is only my understanding of the situation. I’m pretty certain the manual didn’t have any warnings about this.
Hi Troy - they are lithium batteries, which do not need special treatment. You can run them right down to 0% and there will not be any problems. This is why they are so much better than lead-acid batteries. This mower has 'limp home' mode, so if your batteries get really low, the blades will cut out and it will start beeping so you have time to drive it back to you charging point.
Hi Troy, by now you have probably worked out that touching the brake cuts out the acceleration. A safety feature to stop people using the brake and accelerator at the same time and possibly damaging the motor. It is annoying and can make people who are not used to this mower think it is not working. You do get used to it, but hope that on the next version they will remove this.
We bought one earlier this month and it seems to have big problems. The owners manual says if you take your foot off the power it will brake. It doesn’t! In fact it tears down our gentle slope like a runaway train unless you keep your foot firmly on the brakes. Often when we press the throttle nothing happens. Even when pressed all the way to the floor. It doesn’t seem to matter if you hold your foot to the floor for 20 seconds, still nothing happens. You have to remove it and have a few more attempts. When it is moving the throttle response is very twitchy, if you want to engage the cruise control you apparently need to have it travelling at a smooth constant speed for a few seconds. We have yet to be able to actually use cruise control because it can’t seem to maintain a constant speed. Have mowed over the same patch up to 5 times, and the grass is still not properly cut. What gives?? Trying to contact Bushranger, but they don’t appear to list an e’mail address. Anybody from there care to comment before we write our review??
Hi Wisey - Did the manufacturer solve you problem - I am considering buying - But will not until I cane see your problems resolved - Regards Brian
G’day Brian, in process of being sorted out now mate, and based upon what I’ve seen the outcome should be pretty good. The Bushranger folks have been truly outstanding with their communication so far. I think there will be an outcome in a couple of days. I’ll keep you posted, and will be doing an in depth review of the mower as well.
Brian, the EV ride on is now gone. We changed it for one of their zero turns. I’ll be writing a review on the EV model shortly. Only consider it if you have a smallish block of very well kept grass. That’s all it’s designed for.
One like and one dislike... I’m interested in purchasing: liking the Li battery, but hoping it can cut on slight sloping ground? I don’t want it wheel-spinning... And sick of paying a guy to cut our ~acre every few weeks. Looks great when initially done, then have to put up with it looking crap for two weeks til he returns! Plus, I’ve got a 13yo son who wants to start earning a bit more pocket money... Looking at the Ryobi (lead-acid battery) but prefer Li. Thoughts?
I’ll be writing a comprehensive review in a day or two Brad. But short story ... we wished we’d bought a ryobi! Shame Bunnings had stopped listing them when our John Deere blew up. We visited 3 Bunnings stores, none had one. So we bought the Bushranger ... and when we visited the 4th and only other Bunnings that was within a hundred km radius from us afterwards .... there was one!! All shiny and stout looking in comparison. Don’t get me wrong, the blue one has some great points ... and the battery was one of them. But as a package, it was entirety unsuitable in our application. Watch this space.
It does look slightly flimsy c/w the Ryobi... does the 48V:72V difference mean anything? Might need an on-site demo, but definitely want electric. Choice, unfortunately, is limited here in Melbourne.
I would definitely pursue a test run ... or maybe let the salesperson know in writing that the purchase is subject to this. I wish we had!! I’m not 100% sure if the voltage difference is Significant in this context or not.
I gave up after trying for 20 minutes to find a phone number for Bushranger - Made me suspicious - The ringing retailers to find to cost of a replacement battery - No luck - Going to hang out until the lithium ion Cub Cadet comes to australia
Wisey hates it, but the other reviewer loves it. I don’t understand why there’s such a discrepancy.
Read my review more thoroughly .... then make up your own mind. It’s what’s applicable to you. I made that very clear!
Hello ijfadams.
Do you reckon this mower would be able to tow a chipper (about 100kg on two wheels) on a flat area?
I need a mower that can also be taken into the forest in my property towing the chipper to keep the trails clean and make mulch out of all the branches that are around.
Cheers.
The answer is it should work but maybe check with Bushranger that it is not exceeding the rated towing limit.
Great review thanks. How is the speed? How is the turning circle?
Hi Matt, The rated speed is slightly less than our previous petrol ride-on (5.9km/hr not 7km/hr), but I did not find it slow - it goes as fast as I feel comfortable going mowing on bumpy ground, and this one has cruise control. It has no trouble going full speed up hills - even with a trailer. The turning circle is fantastic and way better than my last mower - but not quite zero turn.
