One of the worst Services I've dealt with. No communication wont respond. Horrible Experience – Flights were cancelled due to Covid. Unable to get anyone on the phone so I did an online claim. Meant to get an answer within 10 days. So it's been 20 days later and no refund or communications. Pathetic service. Show details

we decided to cancel the travel insurance policy on 30 August 2025. We held the policy for 52 days (of an 365 day policy coverage) and did not make any claims, and only travelled interstate once. After speaking with the Cover-More Philippine call centre we were requested by a ‘Mya’ to email our date of birth and any travel dates and destination declared on the policy, which we promptly did. The following day we received a reply from a ‘[Name Removed]’ of the Cover-More Philippine call centre demanding documents that match the policy's start date to demonstrate that the policy was not used by documentation that showed; •        No-show confirmation from the transport provider on the intended departure date •        Cancelled itineraries •        Refund ledger •        Cancelled or credited flight confirmations Keep in mind that we stated in writing several times that did not make a claim, nor did we cancel any flights or seek a credit for anything, and we had no idea of what a ‘refund ledger’ is? Each email back and forward took the Philippines Cover-more call centre one day to answer, so by this stage we were on day 4 of simply trying to cancel the policy. The following day [Name Removed] replied that a refund of $145 would be refunded as long as we provided a statutory declaration signed in the presence of a solicitor, commissioner for oaths, or notary public attesting to us not having made a claim on the policy. The amount of $145 [Name Removed] pointed out was a’system generated’ figure. The following day we pointed out that in fairness any refund should be calculated on any residual (unused) component of the policy which was $352 (i.e policy cost per day of $0.9147, less 52 days of policy use being $47 from $399). We felt we were entitled to a refund of $352, not a so called ‘system generated’ figure of $145. When quizzed as how the system generated system worked the response was silent. So by day 6 we felt we had no option but to play this silly game, so traveled across town found a JP and made a sworn two page detailed affidavit, attesting to basically not making any claim under the policy. Again keep in mind that this just canceled the policy and get some sort of refund on a $399 travel insurance policy. We subsequently emailed the sworn affidavit to Philippines Cover-more. On day 7 we get reply from [Name Removed], stating that the sworn affidavit was not acceptable because it was witnessed by a; solicitor, commissioner for oaths, or notary public. This was very embarrassing to read as it was obvious that these Philippine call centre people had absolutely no idea of Australian legal practice. In response we provided web page extracts and hyperlinks to Australian state and commonwealth government sites showing that a justice of the peace is also known as a commission for oaths. On day 8 we get a response from [Name Removed] continuing to offer $145. We responded by stating this was in clear breach of the Insurance Council of Australia code of conduct and that as the owner of Cover-More, Zurich Insurance Group Australia is a member of the Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) and has been since 1983. In fact the Zurich Australia CEO has also served on the ICA board, most recently in May 2023, that we would write to the Zurich Australia CEO as well as lodging a complaint with the Australian Financial Complaints Authority for breach of the rules. On day 10, it appeared that [Name Removed] and Philippines gang at Cover-More had a rethink and decided to offer us a full refund of $399 as ‘a sign of good faith’ and because we ‘were long term loyal customers’. We accepted the full refund. It is absolutely amazing the length we had to go to, to do something that in Australia is a simple and relaxed task like cancelling an insurance policy, which for example we did with NRMA insurance a few weeks back after selling a motor vehicle. No sworn affidavit, no 9 emails back and forth only a tick of an only box and a week later a cheque in the mail with the balance of the car insurance policy balance! I will NEVER EVER consider Cover-More insurance again and would hate to imagine what it would be like to be in a position of trying to lodge an urgent medical insurance claim through these unprofessional lot if you were for example stuck in some god forsaken distant 3rd world country?

 Follow-up  · How did the single trip go? Answer: we had one trip away, return flight to Brisbane and didn’t make a claim. What was the refund ledger? Answer: I have no idea what a refund ledger is? What was the policy's cancellation clause? Answer: refund on cancellation.

none of you took this out. In other words, there is absolutely no point in having this. I was not told this, it only says it in the fine print - so I have been driving unknowingly uninsured for a year. RESULT: despite their their car rental excess component of the insurance being totally useless (because you have to buy the very expensive rental car comprehensive insurance anyway which reduces your excess down to zero), they maintain that I am not eligible for a refund because I should have read all of the fine in the policy before signing up. SO MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE SIGNING UP FOR AND ASK ANY QUESTIONS YOU NEED TO ASK BECAUSE YOU WOULD GO ON TRUST THAT THESE PEOPLE WOULD GIVE YOU INSURANCE THAT WAS ACTUALLY USEFUL AND NOT INVALID. I RECOMMEND NOT JUST BUYING IT ONLINE BUT PHONING THEM UP AND CHECKING EVERYTHING YOU WANT INSURED - DON'T TRUST THAT WHAT YOU WANT TO BE INSURED WILL BE INSURED BECAUSE QUITE LIKELY WITH THESE PEOPLE IT WON'T!

 Follow-up  · Covermore just told me I should have read the fine print - be very wary of this company. Their rental car excess insurance is completely useless as it only covers you on condition you buy the highest level of insurance with the rental car company, therefore making it obsolete. No refund..

We found the policy easy to setup and good value for money. We have used Cover-More each time we have travelled and this is the first time we have made a claim. As we are both over 80, we thought we would find the claiming process daunting, but there was regular helpful communication from Cover-More. Thank goodness I got insurance – I found it easy to make a claim, I usually do not get insurance for domestic but I decided this time and thank god I did as our son fell terrible sick and was not fit to fly so our holiday plans went down the drain with a lot of money, we thought. Easy to purchase – The purchase of policies was fairly easy and there was cover available for older people with some health issues. Have never had to make a claim, so cannot comment about that. Covermore is corrupt – Between Virgin airlines and this insurance company I am not sure who is more corrupt. Both take your money and when it comes to delivering their part its is not mett. Bunch of corrupt companies. I am Down $3000 through nothing of my doing. Even after Planning for whatever event happens. Wouldn't want to be caught on international grounds with this insurance company, they will leave you like a rotten sack of potatoes.

Don't bother, there's better – Long winded paperwork to make a claim. Have to repeat the same info more than once. Delays in getting any reply. Have to do all the leg work. was straight forward & genuine. Flight delayed by several hours, which wasn't a real issue. Planes are always delayed. Flight leaves at a later time, all good. Flight now goes to a different state, not where l wanted to go. Flight lands after midnight & no further flights out of this state until 8:00 in morning to where l was suppose to be going in the first place. Terminal closes as we exit. So here's the choice...sit on a bench outside the closed terminal for the next 7 hours, rain & cold or book a hotel room ?? Booked a hotel room. Made a claim for hotel. Claim was dismissed. So why did l have insurance ?? Maybe it was for the cost of a hot milo & raspberry jam on toast, which l didn't actually have, but maybe Covermore does cover this. So for me, lesson learnt, there are better insurance options. Would not use this insurance company again. Covermore/Zurich. More like Coverless.
