then there are no issues with the BBQ, the only reason it didn't get a 1 star.
The issue is with the burners, if you want to roast something that cannot put on the top rack or you want to use a pot this is the wrong BBQ for you.
The issue is with the burners, since they are horizontal instead of vertical they run half the width of the BBQ. This means as soon as one is alight half the BBQ gets direct heat and you cannot put anything in the middle of the BBQ that wants convection cooking. On a BBQ with virtual burners you can light the outer burners and put what you want to cook in the middle and cook with good heat without direct heat. The only solution with the Crossray is to use the rack, which is limited by size between rack and lid. Tried using 2 burners on one side but gets poor conversion heat. Hard to move my pot from BBQ to oven tonight to try and save it, prompted me to write this review.
Other issues 2 of the 4 rubber stops for the lid failed within 2 weeks. The exposed side of the fridge fads quickly and is an awful colour of black now. As typical of this type of flat pack type of thing, it never goes together as it should. The BBQ is not sealed at the back. So rodents can get easy access to the fat tray (insert spewing emoji) I had to plug mine up with bricks.
Fine for basic BBQ duties but look else where if you have more expectations of using an outdoor kitchen.
We chose this as we wanted a gas BBQ with only hot plates + no grill. This is the only BBQ we found which ticked these boxes. As it uses less gas you can get away with no grill. Is 2 years old + we use 2-3 times a week and is good as new. Show reply

expected. Heating it up 30min+ in advance so you can throw a few drumsticks, sausages, steaks or whatever strikes our fancy.
These days, we get home after picking the kids up from school and we just have to wait around 10 minutes. We wait this time not because the CrossRay isn't instant heat, it is simply to heat up the cast iron grill or hot plate for that added sear. That gives us enough time to prepare food indoors before bringing them out to cook.
The other great things about my CrossRay are:
1. Easy to clean - put it on HIGH for 10-15min, burn off the residue up top, brush off at the end of it, fats drain off into a drip tray which is easily removed to be cleaned. All other food fallen through the cracks just need that monthly removal, again the whole bottom slides out from the back so leave some room around your in-built to get that out.
2. Even cooking everywhere except at the extreme edge of the grill plate.
3. I am able to setup for indirect cooking with a ceramic plate over the lower grill or the cast iron hot plate on one section whenever I need it depending on what I'm doing.
4. I have a no fuss natural gas connection which the CrossRay supports doing away with the hassles of swapping LPG bottles out.
Their sales/service team are also amazing to deal with.
An all round "Highly recommended" from me.

If you find it gets super hot even on low and you don't want to have to cook on the top section I suggest to convert it to Natrual gas as we found it reduced the heat just enough to make it perfect for all cooking (top or bottom).
One important suggestion for anyone planning on plumbing it in to Natural gas, get your plumber involved early and to look at the bbq onsite as the instructions that came with the natural gas kit are incorrect (they are for the old model) and resulted in requiring a return visit from my plumber at an additional cost to change the location of the gas connection / reinstall flex pipe inside bbq. I also had to replace part of the joinery sub straight drilled to suit and update the stone order to change the location of the gas flex holes which could of been avoided with earlier inspection!
Overall great value BBQ for the price point, clean modern design and fantastic customer service would recommend to anyone.

outdoor kitchen around it. The bbq arrived and the burner control knobs were damaged. These were replaced by the distributor and easy to install. However within 3 months one of the LED lights on the front has also failed. Also and more importantly the bbq itself appears to be badly designed or manufactured. The two top racks do not fit neatly, they are too short (or the bbq is too wide) so they only just fit on top of the grooves and with the slightest knock (rotating food) they fall down onto the main cooking area and end up ruining all the food on the grill. I've had to remove them for good now. I'm absolutely devastated, I designed my built in kitchen around this piece and was hoping to use it for many years but now I hardly use it.

it is a bit difficult to control the heat (possibly because I converted to LNG). The option is to turn off one or 2 burners if needing to reduce the heat. Of course there are the challenges with cleaning, etc. but that is not uncommon with BBQs.
Built in 4 burner barbecue – Without a doubt, this is the best barbie I’ve owned. The heat up is super fast and cooking is a breeze. So far it’s been steak and sausages and a roast pork. thing. It does get very hot, and a lower burner setting would be nice, but once you get used to it its fine. It is far superior to an older beefeater I had. Its actually had to explain exactly why its so good, but everything that comes off this thing is cooked perfectly.
The outside did discoulour a bit after testing our the self cleaning feature, so I wouldnt necessarily recommend that. I use it so regularly anyway that it is getting cleaned every few days with an easy wipe down inside.
It wasnt the cheapest BBQ out there, but it was not the most exxy either. One of the best purchases Ive ever made.
