Lightweight – This would suit a light coffee drinker with muscle. The Steam wand produces bubbles, not textured milk. The design is too tricky by half. The basket size is small and prone to blockage. If filled with the recommended grind, it takes a bit of force to lock the Group handle into the head. You'll need to hold tight to the machine or it will skid over… Read more
the counter. If you really like coffee and want to make Café art, go for the next price range up say, the Sunbeam Minibarista.

Going on 5 years without missing a beat! – I purchased this from Myer a number of years ago as I previously owned a faulty Distinta. The salesperson highly recommended the machine and I can’t thank her enough! The machine produces a beautifully rich crema and the frothing wand stretches the milk to a smooth, cafe quality texture. Since owning this machine I haven’t made a bad coffee and… Read more · 1
have nailed it with my grinds to get a better than cafe quality coffee every.single.time.
I descale the machine regularly and give it a good clean periodically- it’s easy and never a hassle.
Probably the only minor issue is having to hold the entire unit when attaching the group head (not a deal breaker) the machine is super light.
If I was to be super picky, I’d say another issue is the metal build sitting on my granite bench top, it feels noisier than my plastic Distinta but I’ve never had a complaint from a neighbour (I’d bribe them with a coffee anyway lol).
Love this machine!!!
Nightmare – Looks great, sturdy but the most pain in the butt coffee machine ever. 1.Hard to get a cup under it. 2. Lights are constantly flashing saying something is wrong. 3. Make one coffee and the lights flash saying boiler is too hot. 4. Ive had this thing for less than a month. It makes two coffees a day and lights are flashing again and now its… Read more
telling me i have to go out and buy delonghi descaler before i can make another coffee. 5. Doesn’t tell me this when ive made the last coffee but only when i Turn the coffee machine on in the morning. 6. 5 would not be a problem if it wasn’t for de-scaling takes 40 minutes. And you have to stand there the whole time as the vibrations of cleaning is shaking the container off the machine whilst it is splashing corrosive liquid all over the place (as indicated by the info on the descale product) And i have put a tall as possible container under the machine as will fit. I am so fed up with this machine i would chuck it in the bin right now if i could afford to go out and buy another coffee machine but I can’t so I will have to suck it up. I have brought coffee machines a third of the price of this one before. I wish I’d just stuck with them. And im only giving it one star coz it won’t let me do zero
Versatile little machine that punches above its weight – My upmarket (but old) Jura machine died and the prospect of spending heaps to get it mended was looming. We took our time and looked at all offerings with 15 bars of pressure. I kept coming back to the Dedica and was mostly impressed by how little space it takes up on the kitchen bench despite its 15 bar pressure and also the fact that it call… Read more
also use pods (which would be handy for emergencies) . So far I haven't used the pod feature and note that these are the ESE Easy Serving Espresso which I still need to track down -re hard to find). I grind my coffee in a Nutri-Bullet so it is very fine which may contribute to the good strength of the pour. The frother on the side is quick, simple and hot enough and you can manipulate it easily to make large or fine foam. This is an excellent feature. Oh, and best of all, it is a lot cheaper than the other machines (got a lowest price match) yet has all the same features (except an onboard grinder) is simple to use and makes a good cuppa. We love it. 26/5/23 It's four and a half YEARS down the track and we had a few issues with the coffee well leaking over the top. Any wonder given the constant use it has had over that period. I took the machine to pieces in that area (unscrew the shower head with a Phillips Head screwdriver) and gave it a thorough clean but in the process, I noticed that the gasket around it was discoloured and shrunken. So we ordered one from Big Warehouse Spares (spares@bigwarehouse.com.au ) and it came within a week and was very inexpensive. This is a reliable LOCAL source for parts for many appliances and their service is top class. Anyway, we replaced the gasket and the Dedica is now as good as new. I certainly would recommend mending gaskets and non-electrical components of these machines as it is a simple process. Plus there are masses of tutorials and helpful hints online. I have my coffee machine back and it pumps out my daily Lavazzas without a care in the world.

Works perfectly – Have had it about two years and has worked flawlessly. Not one problem. Has been easy to use and maintain. I highly recommend. My wife and I have a couple of coffee each day, so it has done plenty of work. Show details
Great coffee, slimline design, easy to use – Very impressed with this machine. Good strong espresso shots, compact design so it hardly takes up any room, and a quick heating time -- the steamer takes hardly any time to heat after the coffee. Quick steaming time too. Temperature is just right for us as we always use steamed milk -- may not be super hot as an espresso at times. Show details
Great Coffee Machine – Almost 12 months since purchase this has been an awesome coffee machine. Still going strong can't fault it highly recommended. Make sure you keep the coffee holder clean for it's easy to just rinse and forget about. If you don't keep it clean it will turn itself off under the pressure, was funny to see for the first time. Since then i make sure to… Read more · 1
keep it clean. Frothing milk is super easy, i don't like it really frothy so i keep the slider part which controls the froth all the way up.

Had it for 2 weeks and want to return it – This seems to be a common issue after reading these reviews. Works once, then all lights flash and doesn’t want to work anymore. Same with steam wand. We’ve tried trouble shooting, watched the delongi videos but to no avail. Have already called and returning this weekend. Show details
Always Overheating – It is good when it works, but it always overheats when I steam my milk (first two lights flashing 3 times) and I need let my coffee get cold while I wait 5 minutes for the machine to cool down. Letting water run though grouphead/steam wand apparently doesnt cool it down either. Show details

Nice, small machine, doesn't make coffee – When it makes a shot of coffee, it is delicious. However, since I was gifted the coffee machine in February, it has made a shot of coffee maybe 10 times. The rest of the time, when I put a full group head in, it somehow doesn't draw the water through, and I am left with an empty cup and a group head full of wet coffee. Basically, it's a brand… Read more
new machine that doesn't make coffee. I'm sure it's faulty, and that other delonghi machines would be fine, but for me it's a no. My ALDI machine was better, and I regret giving it away for this one.

Okay machine but did not last the 2 year warranty period – I was happy with the machine, except it failed 15 months after purchasing. It was unable to deliver steam and the timer function on the boiler water dosage was not constant. The silver and white are no longer sold, only the black. Show details
7 years still going strong and fantastic coffees! – We've had a Dedica 685 for over 7 years and still producing great coffees - full head crema and great taste. This is really a 'fully manual' machine - so you need to experiment with all the 'variables' for the type of outcome you want. Critical are: water temp (suggest high), coffee grind (go fine-ish - u need a grinder with this machine), tamp… Read more · 1
pressure (moderate- hard); draw time - go long even thru the single shot basket, cleaning (do as infrequent as possible! - just rinse the basket). The back pressure at the head is important to get a lush crema - tho we have blown one of the 3 spigots on our original holder arm!
Great little machine – It's compact and very easy to use. We've had it for over a year now and it hasn't missed a beat. The milk frother is a bit finicky when cleaning, as you need to take the outer attachment off to clean the rubber tube inside, as just letting steam out doesn't clean it. Show details

Not as good as predecessor – Coffee not as consistent as E680 Model, sporadically after 3 months the pressure decreased and sporadically resolves. Otherwise, compact size is great. Milk frother paranello wand not as easy to use normal wand. Show details
Great Little Coffee Expresso Machine – I purchased this coffee machine in June 2021. I am a qualified Barista but not employed as one so I do have knowledge of coffee quality and good expresso taste and look. I am very satisfied with this machine as it is simple to use makes great coffee in competition with my local coffee shop :). Easy to clean and no problems with the milk heater wand. its a little beauty and affordable - I purchased from David Jones. Show details · 1
One of the Best delivered Coffee Aroma this machine can provide – Perfect quality coffee delivered to your taste, I would have to say our of all my coffee machines this Delonghi is the next best thing and I would highly recommend it to anyone, it's also cheap on Amazon for $199 in black colour. You can play around with the temperature as this machine heats up without you noticing so before you it you will have… Read more
the best coffee made with any type of ground beans, also E.S.E pods can be used, overall it's been 3 years and I love this barista style coffee machine, it has saved me from buying each day from the cafes. Highly recommended.
Good entry level Machine – Good entry level machine, but I have found over time that the coffee is not consistent. Needs to be descaled monthly. Time to upgrade to the next level I think. Show details
Perfect for the price - However, requires some tweaking – It is a great machine for the price. I picked one second hand (1 year old with 1 year of warranty left) for $100 and tweaked it up with getting a proper non-pressurised basket and a proper continuous step burr grinder (the official Delonghi grinder cannot go fine enough) and a good tamper. With those enhancements, my Dedica pulls very nice shots… Read more
of espresso and a lovely tasting cappuccino. It is capable of frothing milk with a similar texture to commercial machine once the panarello wand is thrown away (by using purely the rubber nuzzle). There are heaps of tutorials online on how to turn this machine into a real beast. So for the money you pay for it you cannot get a better deal. Good luck
Amazing coffee – De Longhi Dedica is an amazing coffee machine for it’s price range. I grow up in an Italian household so I’ve been in contact with my fair share of espresso machines. This one is a great compact one, fairly easy to use, you can access on some espresso tutorial if you are not satisfied with your company, and disregarding some comments I read here on product review it make a decent milk froth for cappuccinos. 10/10 Show details · 1
Very average but ok for the money – Bought this machine 2 months ago after reading the reviews but wish I spent more on a good machine. We have 3 or 4 coffees a day each and sometimes more with friends. Cheaply made, feels like it’s going to fall apart any minute. Milk frother spurts out a jet of water before steaming so watch out for that. The portafilter needs to be cleaned each… Read more

Wonderful upgrade, great crema but – Have been using my coffee machine for about a week now and have had no problems making great coffee except that the milk frothing wand only lasts for 5 seconds when I turn it on so have had to return to microwaving the milk and using my electric ikea milk frother instead. Inconsistent – Too temperamental. I have tried different grinds and varied tamping. But it feels like the luck of the draw to have a consistent pour. Coffee comes out over the top randomly and spills everywhere. I am disappointed with the constant juggling act and failures. I'll be looking around for a machine that works 1st time every time. Great value for money . tics almost all the boxes – Replaces fully automatic Krupps machine and is learning curve to making it yourself. Am not thrilled with the sump , pod and filter but for overall cleaning and maintenance seem to work in favor of not having blockages . Only real problem is not being able to get 2 cups at same time , there is not room for 2 cups on the cup plate . If there is an accessory for this please send me one. Show details · 1
Best manual coffee machine we have had – We still like to make our coffee with ground beans (not pods) and froth our own milk. So after having both sunbeam and breville machines we were a bit hesitant about Delonghi brand. It has been the best machine so far. We use it every day and it has been pretty faultless for over 18 months. Quick to heat milk, stops the coffee flow after a given time and is much thinner in size so we can fit it easily on the bench. Forget it. Crap cofee – Very unhappy . Too many issues . Holder jams up even after cleaning , Main seal tears. Cant fit a mug under it. Do yourself a favour and look elsewhere. I had a breville before this and it was bullet proof Show details

A tiny coffee machine with lots to offer – Been using this machine for over a month now and it is a great machine. Small form coffee machine and fits on the bench easily. Performance is really good for coffee lovers. With some tuning in the coffee, you will have a great espresso. Show details · 1
Good machine for the price – I'm not certain why there are so many complaints about this machine but hey...people like to complain. It's a standard manual machine and that implies that you know how to make a simple espresso and do NOT want to rely on automation. It makes a good cup and in my experience, I've not wasted any coffee using this. In fact, the coffee is excellent!… Read more
Again, it is a SIMPLE MANUAL machine that compares well with other brands, which I have used also (not wanting to name these here). It's shortcomings are in it's build, but again, in my experience, so do the rest. Parts wear out too quickly (again as do the others) BUT the main issue now after using this for 3+ years, is the valve that directs water to either the group or the steamer is now going. This means I will now need a new machine worse luck. Otherwise, I've found this to be one of the better of the entry level, manual machines around.
good product – I'm satisfied with this product. the temperature is hot enough once the maximum temperature has been programmed. the amount of crema is consistent for my even with the various kind of bean I've used (i usually just used a 100% arabica for now so I assume the amount of crema with a mix of robusta should be massive) I do lots of latte and… Read more
cappuccino with this and the steaming of the milk is pretty good, even though the foam is pretty thick for doing latte art it's still doing the job ... but for doing another coffee after that you gonna have to let flow some water from the steam wand for the machine to get colder.
the cons are ... the machine doesn't take extra fine coffee (so just use fine), don't have an unpressurized basket for a better quality shot
so my opinion is a pretty good machine you don't gonna have real barista coffee with that but it still tastes good.
Nice for 2 months, then died – I'd learned to make quite good coffee with this machine over the 2 months I owned it. The steam wand didn't exactly overpower, taking a long time to get milk up to temperature, but the espresso was pretty good with Illy pre-ground coffee I was using. After just 2 months, three white lights blink continuously, for which apparently the manual… Read more

Great Machine – We have owned this machine for three years and is excellent for the price. We have owned Jura automatic $1,700, and an Italian barista job ($2,200) with a separate grinder. And in my view, the Delonghi beats them hands down as well as any expresso pod (owned one too). Firstly it is ready to produce coffee in less than two minutes, two you don't… Read more
have to try and work out the grind, you buy pre grounded coffee. The milk frother is better than Jura, and the barista machine was hit and miss too, the Delonghi makes whole milk, and you don't throw tons of aluminium pods in the dump, saving the planet also!
Work Benissimo – I love Coffe. This machine work very well. Easy to use. Just few seconds for be ready. Beautiful short black. Nice creamy very hot. I will buy again. Small coffe machine, not super automatic but do the job like as professional. Show details
Worst espresso machine I've ever owned - I'm selling if for parts on ebay after four months – Our old machine broke down and we couldn't afford to replace like for like. So we bought this. It is so fussy with the grinds and I wasted about 1/2 a kilo of fine coffee beans trying to get it to work. We even tried different beans. The best it could do was a thick black and bitter tar-like substance with zero crema. We cut our losses and bought… Read more
a new Breville machine instead. (Realising of course that with the money for both machines we could have almost replaced our trusty old machine, which is still on the market after ten plus years.) So the DeWrongi now sits outside on the balcony waiting to be sold on ebay under 'for parts not working' because returning electrical items to certain stores is a total headache and simply not worth it. I'm so tired of being ripped off, I need to have a coffee and lie down...
Good coffee machine , Easy to use – The main reason I bought this machine is just the price caught my eyes , it was very cheap $99 bought from Costco back in May 2019 and I have been using it for 6 months . I usually just make 10 coffees in average in a week. This machine its very compact and easy to use and It makes good coffee ( ofcause you need to know your coffee making skills). I will definitely buy this machine again if Costco offers the same price. Show details
Not too good – Bought machine in January 2017 from Good Guys for $275. Worked OK to start then began to reset itself and constantly displaying "descale" even after I had descaled it. I have not used it for 18 months - just sits in cupboard and I should throw it out! However,on it's an improvement on my previous Sunbeam Cafe Series which gave up after only just over 12 months. Mine was a lemon – Good while it worked (approx 2 months). Only used once or twice a week and after 2 months the machine started resetting every time I tried to make a coffee. later had to go an pick it up as it had been repaired. Second time I used the repaired unit it reset again. Just as bad as before. Contacted Delonghi and they asked me to return it to the repaired again when I expected a replacement unit. Machine is going in the bin and I am never going to buy a Delonghi product again. Terrible product, terrible service.
