DeLonghi Perfecta ESAM5500 Questions & Answers
VerifiedI need a new infuser. Where do I find part number?
the machine does not read the milk container, what can I do?
Hi Simo, have you made sure that it is clean where it connects or not being in all the way. If not you may need it serviced. Alternatively I heat my milk in the microwave to avoid cleaning. If you need milk frothy, heat milk in microwave in a coffee plunger ( make sure no metal in plunger jug) and press up and down to create the best froth ever.
No power. Any help?

I have a Delonghi Perfecta 5500. I don't have any power going to the display panel, so can not turn the machine on. I have replaced the display panel complete with board and still nothing. Do these machines have a fuse of circuit breaker of some sort, or possibly need to replace the main power board?
My ESAM5500 refuses to go through the Descale cycle, and the Hot Water function is not working. Any advice please?
My On/Off button top left of control options has brocken, as in jumped off its spring mount and descended into its opening. Is this repairable? It has been a good machine, but its now unusable
Why when I make a coffee and open up after there is a lot of ground coffee inside the machine looks like it is leaking somewhere .
Descaling error. When I descale the machine following the prompts for descaling, the machine will continually cycle through the entire contents of the water tank and stays in a loop of descaling which never ends. Any suggestions or guidance is appreciated.
The machine keeps saying Ground too fine adjust mill, close water spout and press ok

I have bought a replacement water tank for the ESAM 5500 but how do you remove the outer case on the old one to re attach to the new one???
Many thanks
Hi Richard, I'm not sure what you mean by the outer case??? the water tank should be all in one and just slide into place. I would ring De'Longhi Customer Service on 1800 126 659 and they will be able to help you further.
the external cover plate which attaches to the replacement tank
Hi Richard, it sounds best to contact our customer service team and they will be able to direct you through the process. You can either DIRECT message us with you contact details and we will pass them on or alternately ring direct on 1800 126 659.
When I turn my machine on it displays self diagnosis and then turns itself off. Help?
The only thing I can think of is to pull the plug out of the wall, which resets the machine. That should reset the position of the infuser, which you can then remove and clean and try plugging it in again.
Elizabeth could be on the right track .. if it is a computer chip/memory issue No.1-turn off then unplug for 10 minutes No.2 -push and hold the on button a few times whilst unplugged No.3 - keep your fingers crossed, plug it in and turn it on if that doesn't work repeat 1-2-3 up to 2 more times or try calling DeLonghi customer support, if your in Australia it's 1800 126 659 I think
Has it got a temperature setting to make the milk hotter?
When pressing the cappuccino button it doesn’t say cap it says heating and doesn’t do anything Please help
Hi, I have the same issue. Did you find a solution?
To get most out of your coffee beans the water temperature should be about 90 Celsius my Delonghi "Perfecta" goes to a maximum of 78 C so i do not get the full taste out of my beans mill the same beans and using my 92 C drip coffee maker give at better tasting coffee with less coffee beans, my question is: Does Delonghi delivere an aftermarket water boiler to the "Perfecta" there can heat the water as it should be for a "American cup of Coffee"?
Perfecta coffee machine does not seem to heat the water up any more. Any ideas?
The one I purchased on eBay was defective. So I bought the later model also on eBay and that works well. The most important lesson I learned was not to try removing the infuser after it jammed. I discovered that it is imperative to unplug the machine from the power point and then to plug it back in again. This resets the machine, including the infuser. Then the machine will attempt self-diagnosis I think. That may solve your problem. (Turning the machine off and on again using the power button on the machine is not enough - you have to unplug it.) If I had known that one fact I might have been able to salvage the defective machine just by removing and replacing the infuser.
I checked the manual (which you can download) and this is what it says under troubleshooting: The coffee is not hot • The cups have not been preheated. • The infuser has cooled down because 2 to 3 minutes have elapsed since the last coffee was made. • Heat the cups by rinsing them in hot water or leaving them to rest for at least 20 minutes on the cup warmer tray. • Before making coffee, heat the infuser by pressing the button (fig. 29).
I love my esam5500b, I got a replacement water tank because the old one had hard water stains, but I cant figure out how to get the fascia off the old one, is there a safe way to reuse the fascia? Thanks
try to wash your tank with descaling solution(you should ware gloves)and it will be like new, a more easy option is to use filtered water
Water not coming out of outlet. Water leaked outside machine onto bench. What could be the problem?
Descale the unit, if never done boiler could be blocked. Will possibly need replacing if that is the problem. Otherwise there is a known problem with the circuit board but that usually causes cappuchino/hot water outlet (milk) failure.
had this happen to me, it was time to descale and we were going away for two weeks, thought we would do it when we came back. the spouts started blocking up with dried up coffee sediment which caused the water to over flow inside the unit, once I unblocked the spouts with wire I was able to do a descale. all is OK now
I had to buy a replacement water tank which came without fascia. I assumed it would be easy to detach and use the old one. It wasn't! Screws broke - will water tank still work?
I had to buy one also, complete original DeLongie @ $77 new in box as I got the machine for free. Should work ok as i believe it has a sensor when the outlet at bottom of tank inserts in machine.
Thank you. Will see how it goes
My coffee machine doesn't do frothing anymore. I cleaned every possible places. Model number ESAM5500
I havent used the machine for froth much. My coffee is usually just a short or long black. I would suggest looking online to see your closest service centre & calling them for some advice. Good Luck!
