I purchased my Primadonna S De Luxe in 2012. It has been an excellent coffee machine. I have made estimated 3,000 cups, more than paid back the cost of purchase. In this time only two occasions has it needed repair, once when the motherboard failed and second time it developed a water leak. I am totally happy with DeLonghi coffee machine to the… Read more
point I purchased another coffee machine but not this model. Would recommend Delonghi coffee machines anytime.
never again a delonghi machine – The coffee was not hot, only about 45 degrees C. Though is went to Bangkok in the service center. And came back after 3 months - and did not work again. Now already the 3rd time gone to the service - extremly bad service and very slow - HANDS OFF THIS BRAND ! Show details
This is a great machine – This coffee machine is very good I have had this machine now for two years and I make around 13 coffees a day as we have a big family. Easy to clean and use the only thing I'd say is I would of liked the coffee to be more hot and you cannot make it more than it already is but otherwise great machine Show details
Love this coffee machine – Really love this machine. My first fully automatic coffee machine. Coffee quality is good. The only thing that might bother me in future is the milk container straw which blocks after few weeks. It needs proper cleaning. Product finishing is great. Very good quality has been used throughout the machine. Show details
Very good – Very happy with this coffee machine - simple to use and maintain, and makes a very good latte. Since purchased we've used it a minimum of twice a day and it hasn't missed a beat. Would definitely recommend, only pro is the price but if you wait till the mid-season sales it's worth it. Show details
Steam Nozzle not working – I have this machine for one year and steam nozzle stopped working. I need to pull it and plug it back everytime to make it working. The grinder settings are very confusing. Need to descale every month. The machine gets very hot after making two coffee cups. Improvements are required. Show details
Average coffee machine – This coffee machine was great for the first 2 years but not so much now. It takes coffee beans and grinds them fresh or you can use ground coffee also. We find the cofffee is really week and watery even on the strongest setting and it's not consistent. It does have some great features such as the self frothing milk container. It's a little tricky… Read more
and time consuming to clean. Definitely better machines now available for the price we paid 8 years ago.
Good machine and works as expected – Our office was using a small coffee machine using capsule, with my employees join we need to have a better machine. After doing some research i chose this one - also because this model is discontinued therefore I can get a good price. Was happy with the purchase, it is very efficient and can make a coffee much quickly, have different options… Read more
that can suit different needs, easy to use and easy to clean. In all everyone in office is much happier with the presence of this new coffee machine. Besides, using coffee beans is much cheaper and give us much better quality coffee. Should have made the switch earlier.
Empty Circuit – Easy to use. I like to be able to use coffee beans not capsules. The coffee tastes good . Fairly easy to clean. Too many problems and costly repairs for such an expensive machine when it's under 5 years old ... Definitely won't be spending this amount of money on my next machine Show details
Empty Circuit error – After 18 months use, Twice I had the empty circuit issu (pressure in circuit) no way the water enters the circuit. Too shame this error is so common.... Longevity of this machine? Maximum 3 years without problems. It s just easy to use machine, but too digitalized and informatic system make this impossible to repair without sending it to contructors... Show details
Very very disapointed – Most temperamental expensive piece of stainless steel, only 15 months old when failed, now 24 months old. Had back to recommended De Longhi repairer on 4 separate occasions each time parts replaced, last week we got it back again after 3 weeks at repair shop. Yes it takes 10 days for parts to arrive from Australia. This time they fitted a new… Read more
electronic control board. We were told by repair agent that they did not want to see it again as it was costing them too much money. They obviously forgot how much it was costing us each time. Is this the best De Longhi can do in New Zealand ?
Love this machine – Purchased this machine reconditioned online.Have been very happy.Makes excellent coffee over and over as we are big coffee drinkers. The milk is hot and foams well.Easy to read manual and to change settings to your liking.Only con its noisy to use.Would happily recommend if you love your coffee at home to be as good as a cafe!
Ok unit but hard to justify the price – I've had this (particular) coffee machine for about three years now, as such I believe that this time period justifies my comments. The unit is a fairly good unit in terms of features and it's ability, apart from the fact that my original unit died within the first twelve months of ownership. However, the features etc don't really stack up to… Read more
the pricing of the unit at the time of purchase, despite shopping around and getting a good price. At over $2,300 for this unit I expected more. And now, after three years of ownership, the quality and longevity is starting to come into play. It has been playing up more and more often now and I honestly don't know how much longer it will last.
There is no point talking about quality of the coffee or anything like that as that is rarely an ability of the machine, rather that comes down to the type of beans and products used inside.

Fantastic Machine – We purchased this machine after our old machine started leaking and have never looked back. Such a great machine to use, so easy, one touch cappuccino button, latte's or flat whites. It's fantastic. Would highly recommend it.
Just like a cafe coffee – I purchased this machine about 3 weeks ago after testing a coffee from the shop. I think they have re-invented it since all the bad reviews and its awesome. My partner and I are coffee snobs and this makes a perfect coffee for both of us. I love how I have the option to steam my own milk or it does. I love how there is no mess with having it all… Read more
in one. With the right coffee beans this is just as good as a cafe. I've had to descale already and very easy process. All in all perfect for us and saving us lots of $$$$ buying coffee.
Give it less than a year for it to fail badly ! – Had it less than a year when the unit began to build up pressure and the machine refused to produce a coffee. It became so bad it blew the milk canister off of the machine onto the floor. The faults included a constant need to empty the circuit and that the grind was too fine, given it hadn't even tried to pour water through it I don't know what… Read more
sensor triggered this? ! Did Delonghi care about the potential for steam burns and the other damages this caused ? of course not ! I suggest if you have children and this happens don't let them near the machine. I took it to the suggested repairer who took 5 weeks to sort it out, their tech even having to run the problem by Delonghi when he travelled interstate for training as he didn't know what was causing the pressure issue. I don't blame the tech however his slightly condescending attitude didn't help when stating it was a newer type of unit and if I wanted a unit tested to work as expected I should expect to pay upwards of 5K, if I knew it would last like my Saeco did I would !
I was advised that the milk canister was also replaced as apparently you can clean it too much using the clean button on the machine ? The tech recommended to stop before the stated time (indicated on the control panel) to prevent any future issues. That would be nice except that replacing the internal valves (apparently the originals were too small and could be affected by debris when descaling which caused the pressure build up issue) has created a new issue as there appears to be too much steam allowed to clean the milk canister thus it sucks milk through rendering the cleaning cycle useless.
I suggest you don't buy a Delonghi for reliability based on the techs comments which suggested to me that Delonghi want you to be their tester. For me the unit has been a major disappointment reliability wise and from now on every time I use it I await it to fail, great work Delonghi ! Make sure you ask for a copy of the items that have been repaired or replaced, if they continue to fail regardless of the factory warranty go back to where you bought it citing that it is not fit for purpose under Aust consumer law. The seller is just as responsible for it as the manufacturer when the issue is a major flaw / fault which cannot be successfully repaired.
It does make a decent coffee when it's working and the milk canister produced decent froth, just that's not that often and I can't really see the point in pointing out the remaining few things it does well given my rating of this product.
Milk nozzle – The latest model has a short milk nozzle and if the cup is not exactly in the right place, what a mess! This nozzle is shorter than the previous model and I don't know the thought about making the nozzle shorter - perhaps they may make a longer nozzle which could be exchanged.
Perfect Little Machine – Have had the traditional coffee machines, where we grind and then manually pour the coffee etc, using a commercial machine at home. We got tired of all the hard work and retired the old machine. Replaced it with the Delonghi. We had our hesitations - however - they were soon long gone. Absolute joy to have, and easy to operate and control. Love… Read more
it!!. It must be the easiest automatic machine, on the market that delivers good quality coffee - without the pods. Love the fact that it cleans itself, grinds and does all the other things a commercial machine can do - but more....
Good coffee machine – We are very happy with this machine. So far no issues but we purchased an extended = 5 year warranty so not too worried. We found that the machine takes awhile to heat up so we wait a while before we make a coffee with it. Also you get a better and creamy froth if you hold the milk nozzle very close to the liquid in the coffee, if not touching… Read more
it. We prefer using the manual option rather than the automated drinks and put the coffee in first and then the milk. If you don't like the taste try altering the coffee beans or the fineness of the grind as this all makes a difference. Also it is a very stylish model and takes up little space on the bench.
Delonghi primadonna s deluxe – I have now had the above mentioned machine replaced, yet again for the third time, same fault every time, it has now been replaced by the same model yet again...they say it is a common fault with this particular model...I wouldn't recommend a delonghi coffee machine to my worst enemy, and good luck to having any joy out of customer services.
How many times to get it right? – Heading for the fourth repair (with a fatal error on the last occasion) in 18 months of use & approx 6 weeks in total in service outlet. Excellent service from the Good Guys in arranging for a replacement but where is DeLonghi quality control as we bought home the new replacement unit started setting up and followed instructions up to insert… Read more
tank & that was it. Rang Delonghi service very little help not even an apology for poor reliability. Again Good Guys resolved problem with another replacement. The saving grace is we really enjoy the quality and consistency of the coffee it makes. Coffee consistency & quality Quality control of unit in production
Excellent! Works Perfectly Now – The machine works perfectly now. Volume Control: There are 3 programmable buttons that can be set for any size cup and any combination of milk & coffee. Additionally you can also hold the button to make it keep going, or tap it to make it stop. Frothing: Is completely variable, controlled by a big black knob, and can give you anything from a… Read more · 2
very flat white to a decent cappuccino.
Heat: There IS a fix for the tepid milk issue, just contact De Longhi and they will send you the part. (Presumably this part will be available in future packs.)
Customer Service: I emailed them, and they got straight back to me with a solution. Can’t ask for much more than that.
Price: How can people complain about price? Presumably they knew the price when they purchased? There are Delonghi models for under $200, but you pay for the features you want. I paid $1,800 for this one, which is a fair price for a fully automatic machine.
The seal on the water tank leaked, which frankly is pretty poor quality control. Fortunately Harvey Norman swapped ours for the display model's, and no further problem. Fully Automatic. Tastes Great. Programmable features. Easy to keep clean. Wtare tank seal leaked, but swapped out by Harvey Norman

Too much froth – Just got one of these on the weekend and was so excited to get it home and try it out! After much fiddling around every cup of coffee Cap/Latte/Flat white comes out as a whole cup of froth! There seems to be only a very small amount of milk in the bottom of the cup. I agree with others that it seems to only make a very small cup of coffee, and… Read more
have discovered that yes you can change have the machine memorise your preferred ration of coffee to milk, but still when I try this I only get froth!
So far I'm very disappointed! I've tried to look for things online everywhere and even contacted DeLonghi with no reply yet.
Has anyone else had this problem? Do they know how to fix it?
If you are in Sydney phone Bravo they are very helpful.
The best coffee sleek design – Very good so far ,a lot better then my last Saeco sthyia Great design nice and compact. Quiet operation.hot coffee Milk frother works best with milk left out of fridge for 5 mins. Had a delonghi at work for last few years very reliable as long as u clean It . Sleek design , Bigger beans container
Freshly ground coffee with a healthy crema – I love my coffee machine. I live next door to a roaster so being about to have super freshly roasted, ground and brewed coffee is amazing. It is SO easy to use and clean, the coffee itself is great, I often steam my milk individually using the spout as I live alone and don't drink a lot of milk & it does this well. The milk-jug system works very… Read more · 1
well when I have lots of coffees to make... although I definitely do agree with many comments on here that the milk does not heat up hot enough. Luke warm on the hottest setting, I usually have to microwave my cafe latte for 5-10 seconds to get it warm enough.
The coffee setting buttons are great also - its not too difficult to read the instructions and customise the settings to have them pour to your cup & tastes perfectly every time. Makes a pro-grade coffee, froths milk smoothly, easy to use & keep clean, pre-set buttons very conveniant Milk-jug system is slightly not warm enough, Expensive
OK but disappointed – After having tried and reset all the settings, I find the auto Cappaccino, & Latte, are only small cups. the Flat White overflows the cup, don't get that, as well as not being hot, even after adjusting all those settings. I still cannot work it out. I had been getting a reasonable Cap, but would have to add extra milk, heat the cup etc etc etc.. … Read more
now the frother does not deliver Frothy Milk, and now comes out like instant coffee??I have cleaned wiped done everything as instructed, every time. Tried different things wasted a whole heap of coffee beans and milk and time. Bought it for the push button ease and speed. don't like pod coffee, so? Open to suggestions. It grinds coffee Expensive, does not meet the expectations for the $ value

Delonghi primadonna – We got our machine -50%(orig.prize 1800€) from local department store here in Helsinki, Finland. My wife and I have been extremely satisfied with our purchase(still, even -50% sale a 900€ for a coffee machine is a fortune!!). Our beloved MoccaMaster has been buried under various kitchen appliances at the bottoom cupboard since. We have found a few… Read more
great tasting moderate/low priced espresso beans(love to try different brands). We bought the machine last May and we have brewed about 1300 cups in less than 9 months. They must have updated the mechanism which warms the water because if I set the temperature to the hottest in the 1-4 scale, it´s too hot and wont just burn your mouth but the coffee as well. From proper beans you will get very thick and fine crema (no espresso-art quality, though) and I am sure that everyone will find espresso bean for their taste. I especially like for i.e. fairly low priced brands named Parana and Cafe Mauro. The machine is fast(40sek for 1-2cups of espresso) and grounder is fairly silent. The milk container is very handy and for me the froth i think is just fine. Dont use skimmed milk! I like to use UHT milks, because while they last unopened in room temperature for at least 2 months the littlebit of sweetness also suits for cappuchinos and other cafe au lait´s. UHT´s froth is better than in regular milk and you can easily have a reserve if quests arrive. Love the reprogrammable quick buttons. Machine will tell you if water is too low, or if you have to empty the grounds container, or if the ground is too fine etc. Actually it will probably tell you which color your underwear is, if you ask! Only bad thing with this device is that you will come picky and it´s hard to find a decent cup of espresso outside one´s home!! :D
Not bad, til you need to refer to instructions – We have this machine at work. I'm new in admin, but old in hospitality, and the finished product when making coffees with the Primadonna S Deluxe is quite good. Using it is easy. Cleaning it is easy. Changing the type and strength of your coffee is easy. And the coffee(dependant on your bean knowledge) is yummo. Good colour in the result, if a… Read more
little too much crema, but it's as though the whole coffee-making process and keeping your machine clean process has been super simplified for people who just don't have time to mess about in the morning.
BUT,
If you get an error message on the screen and need to refer to the instruction DVD, things become less easy.
The machine we have is 1 month old, and if it weren't for the ever-present 'Insert Infuser Assembly' message, it'd still be tops. Unfortunately the instruction DVD doesn't explain away these messages in a way that actually fixes it. Yes, my coffee machine is clean, yes I have used the little brush to get rid of any rogue grounds.
I called the outlet that sold us the machine. They couldn't replace it without a reference number from DeLonghi. So I called DeLonghi, who wouldn't replace it(under warranty) until it's been looked at by their registered service company. So I called the service company, who can only give me a 7 working day estimate to get it looked at. And if it's that the machine is temperamental (which it is) then we're going to foot the bill.
This is the first time I've had a problem which is only 'sometimes' present and with a product which is still under warranty, so I don't know if this is a standard operating procedure for this sort of thing.
All I know is my office workers are too dependant on coffee-on tap to go without a machine while it's being fixed for a week, so I'll keep scouring the net for useful (no, turning the hex screws doesn't do anything) tips on what I can do to rid myself off the IIA message. Good range of weak to strong flavours, impressed with the two-tone colouring on lattes. Expensive considering the apathetic customer/ warranty service that comes along with it.
Quick, easy and heaps of features – My lovely wife and I agreed that I deserve a good quality coffee machine. After lots of window shopping and research, we found an overwelming range of fully automatic machines and we eventually chose this one. The RRP was $2499 and we beat them down to a stingy $1820! I am no expert on coffee but I know when it tastes good and this certainly makes… Read more · 1
a nice coffee. The machine has loads of features and is very easy to use. Just turn it on and press a button and 2 minutes and 20 seconds later its finished. The DVD is is simple to follow. The first night I was bouncing off the walls!
The sales people at Joyce Mayne had good product knowledge and were very helpful. Harvey Norman were useless, dopey and unfriendly. Make sure you do your research and bargain hard, It pays to shop around. Easy and quick. Its hot enough and has a full indicator for the drip tray. Looks good. A fair bit of money to out lay but most automatic machines are expensive. For spoilt people only.
Only had it a few days & soo disappointed! – Cappucino's just so luke warmish, like my coffee HOT. And yes, have raised temp as high as allowed. Annoyed that I cannot adjust the volume / amount of milk etc. Hope it gets better, but at present, feel it was a waste of money. Looks great, slim profile, love the milk container able to be placed in the 'fridge. Coffee warm only. Volumes awkward for my cups.
You can adjust volume. Push and hold the cap button until you see the words programming milk. When… Read more (+2 replies)
perrrrrrfect – Set up was easy, I have the esam6600 model as well in the alfresco, but wanted something more compact for the kitchen. This model fits perfectly. also good, but the pods are so expensive. I worked it out over a period of 12 months at 4 coffees a day using the prima donna with beans against the Nespresso I will save over 1k a year, so over 3 years the savings on coffee against the pods pays for the machine.
Recommend you take up the extended warranty. excellent and so easy to use
Moved from a EM6900 and LOVING IT! – Live the machine overall, it's quite narrow compared to others, and it looks awesome. The touch buttons are sensational and really leave you feeling that the money you've outlayed is justified. We were after an all in one unit, and for the fact that this unit will allow you to froth yourself, or do it for you, is a great feature! We got our… Read more
unit from HN, and took out the 3 year "care" warranty. The advantage to this, is that they will replace the part/machine on the spot, so you don't have to wait for a lengthy repair time from delonghi. This cost us $200, so we felt it was a worthwhile investment in our sanity, just in case.
I was really worried that no machine could live up to the EM6900 from sunbeam, but I'm happy to say that is has exceeded all our expectations. Great finish, well priced, ability to deliver milk and allow you to manually froth, great temp of the final product, good coffee delivery Front drip tray could spill over if not careful
