couldn't recover anything and that the card had gone into write protection mode. When I called to discuss compensation, manager Mark told me there was "nothing they could do" and refused to offer any form of compensation or even cover the cost of an external recovery service.
I did not come in for a service. I came in for advice. My content was destroyed while in their hands, without my knowledge or authorisation, and they took zero accountability.
Avoid handing your equipment to staff here — and if something goes wrong, don't expect management to care.
Staff in-store leaning on counters looking uninterested and like they don't want to be there. When you have the audacity to ask them a question, they look like you have offended them in some way. refund, telling me there was a two week "grace period" for returns and that my explanation for taking three weeks to come in (as I'd been away from Sydney over Easter and then for work) "isn't viable". I asked him what that meant and he confirmed that he meant that no-one would believe me. The tax invoice I received did not say anything about a two week grace period.

Will ask you to pay for repair damage months after rental return – If you wish to use their rental option, don’t bother. Even if you return your products in good condition at the shop, packing it all nicely including the paper bag it came with. The company will come and chase you months after your return date asking you to pay for repair fees for damage over 1k that did not occur during your rental. Honestly, do business with this company and Polygon at your own risk. Because I definitely will not again.
Compromised IT security system and no accountability – The private data records of 300,000 customers, including names, addresses, phone numbers, emails and date of birth, were stolen and leaked on the dark web weeks ago. Before I could fully explain the situation, a staff member impatiently interrupted and refused the request outright. After pressing further, they reluctantly agreed to assist, but their attitude quickly deteriorated. The staff member rudely stated that the promotion was a bonus, not a price difference, and compensation was out of the question. They repeatedly interrupted me, spoke in a disrespectful manner, and even threatened to call every DigiDirect store to ensure I wouldn't get the bonus with store credit. I later confirmed at the CBD store that these calls were indeed made, instructing colleagues to record my name and order number to prevent me from receiving the bonus.
When I visited the CBD store to purchase a new camera with the bonus using my bank card, I was told by the staff there that they needed to call the Bondi store for permission before allowing the purchase. This made me feel like any future purchases at DigiDirect would require approval from a particular staff member. I can’t help but question whether there’s an anti-Chinese bias or discriminatory treatment at play here.
If this is how DigiDirect allows their employees to treat customers, especially those from different ethnic backgrounds, it’s completely unacceptable. I am seriously considering filing a complaint with the ACCC if these issues are not addressed promptly and satisfactorily. I expect a clear and transparent follow-up from DigiDirect regarding these incidents.
