I recently had Dixon’s Homes build my home in Burrum Heads. I had a rough start with the sales process from a different office. Spencer my supervisor was empathetic that this was my first home build and was able to smooth out any problems that were created this time. He was also quick to answer the phone or text messages even when he was unwell… Read more

and of course very busy supervising many houses over south east Queensland.

The build did take longer than expected however my fixed price was not increased and my private inspector who checked the stages was very happy with the build. The quality of the build and the fixed price was the most important aspect to myself.

There was a slight issue with the placement of a power point in the kitchen that was resolved immediately which I was very grateful for.

The only thing I would change would to go through the Hervey Bay office for the build planning as they appear more superior to the other office I had my dealings with.

Big thanks to Leslie Filby for doing a great job on my Flagstone home. Leslie stepped in halfway through the build after John West left and did an excellent job picking things up and getting everything completed quickly and to a really good standard. He was knowledgeable, calm, hardworking, and always easy to deal with. A genuinely good bloke and I really appreciated his effort. Show details

WARNING - SUB STANDARD PLUMBING OF SEPTIC SYSTEM We purchased a two (2) year old Dixon Home which has an Everhard Industries Two Tank Septic System. Each time we have heavy rainfall the purple hose system continually runs. We phoned Everhard Industries and were told that there is no warranty as we are not the original home owners, even though… Read more

the Tanks have a ten-year structure warranty. We contacted Dixon Homes and provided them with photos and videos of the issues. They have stated that they are no longer working with Everhard Industries and that they are unable to provide any assistance as the landscaping was organised by the previous owners (not sure why Dixon Homes have made mention of the landscaping!). The photos indicate that the rocks that were used as backfill were the cause of all of the damage and not the little bit of landscaping on the surface. The landscaping was very minimal and I did state that the original owners would not have backfilled the septic system themselves. Either Dixon Homes or Everhard Industries would have caused the issue, not the mere landscaping that was done.

Note: The First Photo is of the landscaping, or lack of, which has been stated by Dixon Homes as the cause of the issue.

Extremely Disappointed – Dixon Homes Failed to Deliver Even the Basics My experience with Dixon Homes has been nothing short of frustrating and disappointing. throughout the entire sales process—no complaints there.

Unfortunately, Dixon Homes was the complete opposite.

Our settlement date was 12 September 2025. Well before this date, a defect in the main bathroom was identified and flagged by the real estate agent directly to Dixon Homes. Despite this early warning, the issue was still not fixed by the day of settlement. On 15 September, I followed up personally with Dixon's site supervisor—sending photos and trying to get a response. Nothing happened.

Calling their 1300 number didn’t help either. I was told I needed to submit the defect online before anything could be looked at—even though the supervisor had already been informed. When I finally did email them with the defect and included proof of ownership, I was told I needed to provide the house title. We had literally just settled three days earlier! Still, I sent both the seller’s confirmation and a letter from my solicitor, but the delays continued.

The customer service was appalling. It took four separate calls just to have someone say they'd escalate it to the Managing Director. I was never contacted directly by the MD—but suddenly after that call, I received an email with warranty information and Form 12, even though I was previously told I had to get that from the seller.

Only then did the supervisor finally call me—after previously ignoring my calls and message. By that point, it was too late. I had already paid one of my own subcontractors to fix the issue. I expressed to her exactly how disappointed I was in the lack of professionalism.

I’ve worked in the industry for over 30 years. When a client is buying a family home, it is the builder’s responsibility to ensure all defects are addressed before handover. Dixon Homes clearly failed in this regard.

Dixon Homes seriously dropped the ball. The lack of communication, accountability, and urgency was unacceptable. And I know I’m not the only client who’s experienced this—I’ve heard similar stories from others.

If you’re considering building or buying through Dixon Homes, I strongly recommend you think twice. The stress and poor service just aren’t worth it.

commitment to quality.

His hands-on approach and ability to keep us well-informed at every stage made the entire process smooth and reassuring. John’s responsiveness stood out — no matter the time or nature of the query, he was always quick to respond with clarity and a solution-focused mindset. It’s evident that he genuinely takes pride in his work and cares about the outcome just as much as his clients do.

John also displayed exceptional coordination and on-site leadership, ensuring that the construction was well managed, timelines were adhered to, and all works were carried out to a high standard. His calm, respectful demeanor and attention to detail instilled great confidence in the entire build process.

Working with John has been a pleasure, and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable, communicative, and knowledgeable site supervisor. He is truly an asset to the Dixon team

of care or accountability throughout the process. Quoting was incorrect and also there were items not included that were not discussed at the start. It was only through our own review in stages we were able to find out. When we did try to address them we either didnt receive a response or brushed away as tho it was not their problem. We faced significant delays with little to no explanation, and when work was finally completed which we had to follow up to even receive a hand over date, the quality was well below expectation. The attention to detail and overall is just unacceptable. I would not recommend them at all. If you are looking for professionalism, reliability or quality workmanship I would go elsewhere.

selection - Good Star, thank you!

As I kept seeking for more information, it quickly got filled with unnecessary anxiety Was initially told it’ll take 26 weeks to complete once contract is signed, as such I adjusted everything including my finances accordingly. I believed that part at face value and did not bother to thoroughly review my contract - I signed my contract expressly. This came to haunt me later as m y neighbours who started on site 3months after me, moved in 3months before me. No Star here!

Building Commencement: Absolutely no Star. In fact minus 10million stars - Dixon Homes is in debt of Stars.

Building Progress: Agonising, changing Supervisor didn’t help either. No Star to give here.

Later Stage: Here comes Spencer Reynolds as the Site Supervisor, EVERYTHING CHANGED. Somehow Dixon Homes earned their Stars back. Particularly, Spencer Reynolds gets all the Stars in the world. Thanks Man. BBQ invite loading. Primarily because of Spencer Reynolds, I will be building with Dixon Homes again and again as long as he is my site Supervisor. This guy delivered the job in the shortest amount time. Thanks to support from Tim, the enforcer.

So take back all the stars you lost (I’ll keep one) - thanks Spencer Reynolds.

a little extra. The communication was poor. Only the sales person was helpful. All the others were hard to talk. The supervisor was not accessible. Always no answer when using your normal number to call her. But if using an unknown number to call, she answered. The GM didn't even have a civil word with me. They left the defects to yourself with the tradies, and just walked away at final stage. The electrician failed to follow the initial plan and then charged extra for fixing the problem. Eventually I organised a lot of thing and the house became not really a Dixon Home, but a customer made one.

The only good thing is they are cheap. (Maybe not anymore now.). And some building material is high level one.

If you want something low graded and you are not a picky person, just go ahead with them. If you do want to buy a nice home for your families to live in, forget this builder.

reasonable in my book). He attended site regularly and whilst onsite checked progress pickup rubbish because that it's his nature, he delivers excellence and excepts to be provided professional services from sub contractor's to meet not only the required standards but his expectation of quality of workmanship on behalf of the owners, us. This occurred a couple of time with trades returning to rework, nothing major and certainly nothing structural. We are extremely happy with the outcome there were several issues in the contract that were not verbalized very well were written in the contract, not by John but by Dixon. If you haven't built this will have little meaning. All in all, highly recommend John, his professionalism, his cooperative non combative attitude was easy to deal with. John will provide you as an owner satisfaction, non-combative, collaborative attitude and finished product you will be happy about. Once last word of advice, you get what you pay for and nothing is free, read the contract so you are fully prepared.

Dixon Homes building at Kingaroy – We built our home with Dixon Homes at Kingaroy. I have rated Dixon 4 stars purely because of their Site Supervisor who they assigned to our build. John took the initiative to provide updates about our… Read more

build throughout the entire process. His correspondence with us, including all of our queries, were always done in a timely manner. A few issues arised here and there but John resolved them all; many of them he had to go out of his way and job description to complete.

If it weren't for John, we would have given 3 stars. Unfortunately, the model that Dixon currently has is not great in a market where materials and tradesmen are short. They give most of the power to select, hire and schedule tradesmen to the Schedulers sitting in the office and leave the Site Supervisors with the job of chasing up the jobs that have to be completed on-time. The Site Supervisors hardly have any control of who and when a tradesman can start on the job. As a result, our build has been delayed multiple times and it has taken close to one year now to complete. Please give the power back to the Site Supervisors.

We would also like to mention Wayne Brown, who was our Design Consultant during the planning stage of the build. Wayne was very knowledgeable and patient with us as we worked with him over multiple meetings and emails to alter one of the house plans we chose from the Dixon wesbite to one that suits our lifestyle.

Regarding the colour selection for our build, we were told incorrect information about the showerhead. The show room at the Rocklea office had hand-held showerheads on display and we were told by the colour selection consultant that this was the default showerhead. However, as our build is considered the Habitat level, it was not until Practical Completion stage that we realised fixed showerheads had been installed even though we had requested in writing prior to colour selection that we wanted the hand-held ones. We are thankful to John, our site supervisor, for assisting us in rectifying the issue during Practical Completion.

Overall, we are grateful to Dixon Homes for making home building affordable even in today's times. We would especially like to thank John Kalaitzoglou and Wayne Brown for the huge roles you played during our build process.

Steer clear if you are after a quality home – Worst company ever to deal with. Communication is beyond disgraceful firstly. builder had not done their legal requirement and was going to end up costing us over $10,000 but after 9 months of dealing with NBN who have since had a few other clients in the same position, they finally agreed to what I had suggested and run conduit over a fence we had put up instead of having to dig up concrete laid by the builder to install what should have been done when the home was built. I then see another review with a ceiling falling in. After seeing 3 similar cases just this last couple of weeks on a current affair, one of our trades noticed our screws were loose WITH NO GLUE USED ON INSTALLATION so nothing to hold the ceiling up and it is now coming loose. We were finally able to make contact through email and got a response. The builder came out then claimed because we had put insulation in the ceiling (feather weight) that it voided the warranty. We would not have had to spend extra money putting proper insulation in if they had done their job and if insulation would cause roofs to fall down, no houses would be able to have insulation. We also had a huge water leak which went on for over a year and every plumber we got said it wouldn’t be leaking because it was a new build. What a joke !! We fortunately have an amazing local urban utilities who came and dug everywhere and couldn’t find a leak. We were using 900L a day with huge water bills and lost our beautiful garden we had spent alot of time and money putting in due to all the water. I finally found a number on the hot water service and they responded straight away and honoured the warranty themselves and fixed the leak which was a $100 part after over a years heartache and expense. Now we have been able to put our beautiful gardens in and start making a home. Anyone considering Dixon homes. I would urge you to consider the quality and the support afterwards. The quality is absolutely a disgrace and the communication from Dixon homes is virtually non-existent. The one time we did finally get someone because of our sinking ceiling, he had no ladders and we had to go and get ladders for him to “inspect” then he leaves his iPad and notebook in our garage. I can see why the workmanship is so bad if the “boss” is so disorganised. And one last thing, the paint work is so bad we have had to repaint it. There was only a thin coat and you can’t clean it so they gave obviously used the cheapest paint possible. Tiles were laid unevenly where my husband was constantly tripping on one area so we had to put down a mat to even up the tiles and all the down pipes have needed to be repaired at our expense as they have all come loose (prior to us moving so less than a year). An addit as we just got new air conditioners and our installer discovered the reason the air con wasn’t “effective” was that it was never gases on installation .. how does this company get away with this type of work ?

Good value builder, large variety of floorplans and easy to customise the plan – We chose Dixon builders after comparing about 5 of the largest builders in Brisbane. As is typical of Asian families we wanted downstairs bedroom, so grandma could stay there. Most floorplans from other builders had all bedrooms upstairs, or the ones with downstairs floorplans were huge 400m2 mansions which were way out of our price range. We… Read more

wanted a medium sized 250m2 house for our narrow block in Brisbane. Despite Dixon having ~1000 floorplans, none were perfect for our family but a small 5 bedroom plan came close. Steve our sales consultant was excellent and bent over backwards to rearrange the plan to our requirements: added shower downstairs, moved the kitchen so my wife could have an island instead of an L shape, moved the master bedroom to the west so we don’t get morning sun etc. We essentially moved every room upstairs creating our own unique floor plan. The costs to make the changes was minimal (<10k) and Steve was flexible, even letting us have a 4m sliding door to the backyard. Dixon floorplanes are available freely on their website. Dixon Brisbane has no display homes, but their office has various kitchen and bathroom options which while not as flashy as fully upgraded coral home, was better than the base coral home fittings. Dixon is a great choice for a midrange house. We choose the value+ midrange option, removing and adding things we wanted, upgraded to ducted AC, downlights etc. They were a bit cheaper than other big builder like coral homes, and included things like AC and solar panels as standard. A lot of things that we wanted such as under bench sink, stonebench for kitchen, laundry and bathroom were included as standard, things which coral homes for example charges more for. The only disadvantage with Dixon is the tap fitting options are a bit limited compared to other builders, while what they have is good, the range of options you get is higher at some other builders. Have a good look at their office to see if the fittings are what you want, otherwise you need to talk to their plumber directly to upgrade. Cap my Site manager also seems to be very fast and efficient as all the lots on my end of the street all sold around the same time, however mine was the first one to commence construction, followed by the other Dixon lot next door. Other builders have not started yet, and mostly just have a sign up. He can be slow to respond sometimes to texts, but I assume he is very busy. Other builders do have a 2 weekly meeting with site manager which Dixon does not offer. Time will tell about the quality of the build and I will update the review on completion. I recommend hiring your own independent building inspector for the last stage at minimum, but I will hire one for the last 3 stages. Despite what the builders say, most of the work is done by Subbies and their quality may vary. At least Dixon have some additional certifications to check for quality issues. Overall Dixon has been excellent so far and I recommend them to my friends.

Worst home builder – Dixon Home has been wasting my time for about 6 months now. I strongly advise against choosing DixonHome as they are time wasters. I've wasted both time and money dealing with them. Their sales team is the worst, and their knowledge is inexperienced. Please exercise caution when dealing with this builder. Show details

Happy with our new home – We are happy with our new home we have just had handed over. We would especially like to thank our supervisor for his exceptional service throughout the build. He was always happy to assist us in anyway that was required and at handover has made sure we are happy with any issues that needed fixing. Thanks( to our supervisor you know who you are)… Read more

for a great job. We would also like to thank the lady (once again you know who you are) who assisted us with the financial side of the build nothing was every too much trouble thanks . The only reason we didn't give 5 stars is the lack of communication with head office as several call I made were never returned, so after that I decided just to contact our supervisor and as I said previously he was always available to deal with our concerns.

It's well out of warranty but not outside the reasonable life expectancy of a home. The ceiling in the en-suite failed catastrophically & without warning. Cost of repairs aside, it's only by the grace of God that no one was seriously hurt. We now live in fear of the rest… Read more

of the house. Look at the pictures and decide for yourself. EDIT: I did contact Dixon Homes - their considered response was to send a copy of the contract highlighting the warranty period. The collapsed ceiling tells me about the quality of their work, their response tells me about their integrity.
