Will never buy these tyres – These dunlop tyres came factory on our new triton, we have just hit 15,000km mostly highway driving, dry weather no rough conditions, and have blown 2 tyres in 3 weeks. Will now be replacing all 5 tyres with a more reliable brand. Show details
In-depth reviews
Avoid if you can – Before I commence my review, I would like to iterate that work in the car industry. My grandtrek tyres came as standard on my 2015 Prado. Good first impressions on the tyres initially; they handled the road really well in the dry and wet, noise levels are generally good as well. Then came my outback trip to the dinosaur capital, Winton, I… Read more
incurred my first wall damage on one of the tyres which barely done 10,000kms and had to be replaced. I thought it was one-off. I was wrong. I had another side wall damage at about 30,000kms driving in suburbia and again the tyre was a write-off. It could be bad luck but what are the chances of 2x side wall damages! I was pretty annoyed. Fast forward 3 years and almost 40,000kms later, another 2 of the tyres need replacing! One might argue, 3 years and 40,000kms is a good run, WRONG. I have got friends using Bridgestone duelers and they run up to 80,000kms! A quick check with my techs in the workshop confirm that the bridgestones are far more superior product than the dunlops. So I rest my case, use Dunlops only if you don't have a choice or budget constrained, if you want more years and reliability from your tyres, switch to Coopers or Bridgestone. Until my next review, good luck!
Higher pressure, longer life - with careful driving – These tyres came fitted to my from-new 2005 Prado GXL v6 4 ltr. Early on I had a puncture in one of the tyres due to a tradie dropping screws in my driveway, so had the tyre plugged at a dunlop tyre retailer. The retailer recommended the tyres be inflated under normal load to 42 psi front / 40 psi rear. I achieved just over 100,000km from the… Read more
first set of tyres which included Fraser Island (sand) and Flinders Rangers (rock) towing a camper trailer. I do rotate the tyres front/rear. Currently on the second set of tyres and just approaching a total of 180,000km and getting ready to replace them. For on-road and off-road (sand/rock) these tyres have been completely fine with no problems - the ride is a touch firm with the tyres at these pressures and I would add that when it comes to cornering and braking, I drive the vehicle like a 4wd, not a sedan, so I tend not to put large amounts of stress on the tread. I'm not someone who drives in mud/deep water, but I'd think these tyres would be largely useless for that purpose
Reasonable Mileage - Now good mileage – I have a MN Triton, twin cab, bought new June, 2015. Vehicle originally fitted with Dunlop Grandtrek AT20. I have not rotated the tyres but wear is generally even, so no real point rotating except that I could get a bit more wear from the front tyres by putting them on the back but then I would be putting near smooth tyres on the steer which is… Read more
not a good idea in my opinion. I have done nearly 31,000 km and I am looking to buy new tyres (a) for safety (b) to avoid the mobile taxation department. I am not sure how long a tyre should last but 31,000 km is a bit poor. I am nearly 70, so I am not a lair. I do some 110 km/hr driving on country sealed roads. I just think that they are poor wearing. Tyres are otherwise good, no punctures appear safe. Update, 5/7/2017 - car dealer rotated the tyres at the last service, so that the front tyres became the back tyres. I have now done approx. 39,000 km, they are still not down to the "wear lumps", so I am now into "satisfied" territory. I will update when I get new tyres and perhaps change my "HEADING" as I like my reviews to be accurate. 5/7/17 - changed heading from POOR MILEAGE to REASONABLE MILEAGE. Anything over 40,000 km is GOOD.
5/9/17 now up to 42,000 km and still "legal" - looks like they will get 45,000 km and still be legal. I would buy these tyres again.

3 sets now with average of 60,000 per set. No problems experienced. Very happy with AT20 – Have travelled Birdsville track, Oodnadatta Trk, Flinders ranges, Hammersley ranges, Kimberley and Pilbara regions towing a van with 120 Prado. Tyres have coped with all changing conditions without any punctures or failures and returned good tread wear. No problems or concerns in wet and dry, bitumen or off road.Don't understand why other drivers don't like these tyres. Maybe they over inflate them. Show details
Surprisingly good – These were on the Pajero when i bought it new in 2017 and .... they have been brilliant, quiet, handle well and great in the wet, good braking no punctures. I really can't fault them, all my driving has been on bitumen (unfortunately) and now up to 84000 Ks,they will make 90000Ks. 38PSI Feels good. I have had 8 4WDs of various sorts over the last… Read more
30 years and of the all the different tyres i have i have driven on these rank pretty high. I think they are very well suited to the pajero.
Grandtrek AT20 tyre – Ive got a 2015 shogun,i had the original tyres (AT20) until half way through 2020 then i noticed small cracks on the walls. It was then i decided it was time for new tyres. To be fair they have done about 50000 miles from new and still not worn out. They have been great tyres.... grip,no Puncture Repair and pretty quiet. They have done exactly what I expected out of a tyre. Cheers Dunlop Show details

OEM fitted tyres – I have over the past seven years purchased two Ford Rangers fitted with these tyres and have only had 30,000 to 35,000km out of each set with mostly highway driving. I was happy enough with the safety aspect of the tyres in wet and dry conditions but not entirely satisfied with the longevity of them. Overall I would rate these tyres as average. Show details
Absolute rubbish – Worst tyres I've ever had. Came standard with new Mazda BT50. Done 50K kilometers have had 2 blow out on me on the highway. Scary! Will replace with Michelin all round. Better safe than sorry!
Poor mieage – Have done just 40000 kms with my Pajero Sport & nearly worn out very soft ride , terrible in wet Standard with most cars made in Thailand Shocking tyre for wear Will never buy Dunlops again Show details

2nd set of AT20's - No issues at all – Have these tyres fitted on a 2020 Toyota Prado, 2nd set. Have not had any issues with them at all. They're quiet on the bitumen, good in wet and dry conditions. Car spends 95% of the time on sealed roads, but it does go on soft sand beaches occasionally and drop the pressure to 20-25PSI, I haven't had any problems. I have read a number of negative… Read more
reviews with people calling them rubbish & slippery in the wet. Most of those seem to be fitted to dual cab utes and with little to no weight in the back, rear wheel drive and a heavy foot, I can see how ANY tyre would lose traction. Perhaps they are better suited to constant 4WD vehicles?
60,000 Km's – I got these standard on my Mitsubishi Triton, they have just clicked over 60,000 Km and are close to their end. These have been reliable for me with a mix of city/highway driving and some towing. I can't fault them at all. no issues to report Show details
Tyres have past my expectations – The Dunlop Grandtrek AT20 came on my 2012 Prado, the first set did 95,000kms and now I'm just looking at replacing my second set not because they have run out of tread but more to replace before Winter. This second set has done 94,000kms. I have been very happy with their performance. Show details

Early Days with the AT20 – These came as standard OEM tyres on my new Triton GSR. I live in the country and the 6km of the road I travel before a smoother road is akin to driving on the Canning stock route or other outback roads- blacktop with jarring and corrugations and bends like a race track. Climbing up hill in the rain I was worried but these performed really well,… Read more
much better than the Pirelli Scorpion ATR Plus. I did not feel any slips or slide. Early days yet only 500km but will see...
Absolute crap in the wet – On dry ground they are alright, not good traction, but not too bad, and reasonably quiet. But absolutely horrible in the wet. will kick the back end out under any throttle around corners, even in 3rd/4th gear Show details
Absolutely dangerous in wet roads especially in corners & roundabouts – have these standard in my BT50, got to experience this more now in the wet season & just have 17,000kms in it. I was researching for good tyres for wet roads & stumbled in this site.. like most reviews these are terrible in wet roads. I have driven with these tyres in dirt road & crossed a few floodways & the water was even more than half of the tyres & were good in 4H&L Show details
Dangerous in the wet – Tyres do Ok in the dry weather but almost got spun out of a roundabout in the wet. I have done zero kms as off road and am actually scared to go off roading with them. The Coopers were definately better on my Patrol than these. Have done only 10,000 kms on them and cant wait to get rid of them. Show details
Great on freeway and mild off road tracks – I've got dunlops on my 2018 4x4 ranger. They have done 22k now. They perform great off road on the beginners tracks. I do 160kms commute on the freeway each day. Great on the freeway even on bends at 100km/h. Stopping in an emegency they don't stop well. in the wet in it is just frightening at times. Corners, roundabouts can feel like driving on… Read more
icy roads. At times i can't even gain traction at all when stopped on a slight hill in the rain. Had to resort to 4H at times. Other than that are great. tire wear seems to be fine.
Long lasting - Re-ordering again – 94,000 km without a flat, did not notice issues in the wet. Most of my driving is freeways and very little off-road. Comes standard with Hilux. Ordered the same again for value for money. Show details
Dangerous in the wet – These tyres came with my 2018 Mazda BT50. I have had them for 20000k so far. The wear and dry driving seem OK but the wet driving is dangerous on these tyres. I live on mountain with a 10k windy road which I drive up and down every day. The car is quite unnerving to drive in wet conditions. I have also found the vehicle get loose around… Read more
roundabouta at low speed. I normally use Pirelli Scorpions which operate very well in wet and dry conditions and will again on replacement of these tyres.
Pathetic tyre – These are pathetic as the standard tyre when you purchase a new prado, they are poorly made, wear out fast, dangerous in the wet, way to go cutting costs at the expense of people’s safety. Changed these after less then 5,000km after many instances of them not handling properly Show details
Extremely disappointing in the wet – Factory fitted on a new Ford Ranger OK in the dry but appalling in the wet, constantly breaks traction, vehicle has only traveled 15,000k's, I am a 58 year old male and changing tyre brands Be very careful Show details

Excellent on road tyre – Had 4 sets now on 3 Toyota’s. Hilux and 2 Prado’s. No problem in wet at all. As for wear I’ve averaged 110,000 km’s. Can’t believe how some people must drive , if they’re only getting 50,000km’s. I’m almost due for another set now, I’m sticking with them, at least I know what I’m going to get. Show details
50,000kms and time for a different tyre – I thought these tyres were ok originally and had quite good service out of them until approx 40,000kms when I first towed my 2.2T tare weight caravan with them - now not so happy Jan. Had never had an aquaplaning experience previously but felt very unsafe towing the van in the wet when I encountered aquaplaning in very little water. Now up to… Read more
50,000kms and looking for something different. Tyres still have 2.5mm before they get to the wear indicators but the shoulders have worn noticeably in the past 10kms on all 4 tyres - yes wheel alignment is correct and tyres rotated every 10k kms by Toyota service dept.

Poor wear and horrible in wet conditions – I have barely done 38000 km and need to replace these tyres. They started to aquaplane on the highway with the slightest amount of water about 2000 - 3000 km ago. There is still technically at least a couple thousand km left based on the wear indicators but too dangerous to have on the road. They have been balanced, aligned and rotated regularly but have not worn evenly. Probably the worst set of tyres I have had on my Pathfinder yet. Show details

Great tyre – Next week I will tick over 100k km’s on this set that were fitted from new on an NX Pajero. Haven’t rotated them or done a wheel alignment or anything. I have run them higher than recommend pressure though at about 36psi. Lots of highway running but also some beach driving and towing a boat. Can get a bit of understeer around round abouts in the… Read more · 1
wet but generally been excellent. Will not be looking for anything else when it comes to replace them.
Fast wearing and not good in the wet – My 2013 Mitsubishi Triton came with the Dunlop AT20's fitted from new. My initial impressions were that it was a pretty fair tyre seemed to handle ok in the dry but about 20000kms in I knew they were a dud. Tyres were rotated regularly but even still the wear on these tyres was terrible and at 35000kms they were no longer road legal and needed… Read more
changing. Now maybe it's just me but I would expect at least another 15000 kms out of a tyre before I would consider the wear reasonable. The other thing I found with this tyre is they did not handle well in the wet, especially after the wear had gone down a bit. Given these tyres came on the vehicle from new I didn't quite feel as cheated as I would had I purchased them aftermarket but I definitely would not recommend them unless you can get them at a ridiculous price.

Rubbish 27,000 ks need replacing on 2016 Nissan NP300 Navara RX S/C 2.3L Turbo Diesel 4X4 Man – Dunlop Grandtrek AT20 255/70R16 111H 27,000 ks and need replacing only of road is my 1 kilometre driveway. These came on the Ute from the Nissan dealer in Gladstone Qld, could not understand how some of the review say that they got 80 and 100 thousand kilometres out of there tyres just does not ring true to me. Super quite with good handling – The Dunlop Grandtrek AT20 were Factory fitted tyres on the Prado. The are super quite, comfortable and with relatively good handling. Although the looks are not so good for four wheel drive vehicle, but perfect for urban driving. Despite the weight of the car, it never let go when wet. Show details · 1
Not happy Jan – Ist set from the factory gave me 65,000k's, so I bought a second set. These only gave me 40,000ks! I found out that the difference is that the factory tyres are 'original equipment (OE)' tyres which are a different compound! Not happy. Also had a puncture on a good dirt road caused by a tiny bit of stone! Gone to Bridgeys. Show details

Happy with these – These tyres are standard on Toyota Landcruiser Prado. I just completed 57000 km on the original set of tyres and there were still a good 3000km left when I traded up. Never used the Jack once on the vehicle and the spare was brand new. Just rotated the four at services. I can not recall a single event of slip, slide or skid. Only ever had one puncture and got to a tyre centre before it went flat. Show details
Treacherous in the wet – These were original tyres on my 2015 Mitsubishi NX Pajero used to tow a van. Reasonably OK on bitumen for around 30,000km but shortly after became deadly on wet roads. Rotations, balance and alignment as per the book and no off-road work. Recent rain event has forced me to replace all tyres at 39k before they slide me off the road. Not Happy. Show details
Excellent tyres- - cannot fault them – Bought new with 18' rims and cannot fault these tyres. Have done over 90,000kms towing big vans and boats and have never even rotated the wheels. These tyres, grip, are quiet and have never had a puncture or concern. I read other reviews and scratch my head....... They are not cheap but you get what you pay for.... Like Michelin once said....."It's not that they cost a little more, it's how little more they cost!" Show details
Premature wear 28,000 k worn out – Bought a Mitsubishi triton brand new in 2015 I'm retired so don't do a lot of Klms had the first service and rotated tyres .Tyres are down to the tread wear indicator Not Happy!! So So – Had these on my 150 Prado Kakadu when i bought it about 2 years ago, They have done over 80,000 when i got it. I've had No problems, quiet on the road, good grip in the dry BUT they worry me consistently in the wet where they seem to want to slip and let go and i drive fairly steady especially in the wet. old Yokohama super diggers and they never worried me in the wet, but i could never get anywhere near 80000 km out of them.
