very disappointing experience recently. I bought a Dyson Big Ball Vacuum on 08/05/2026, received it around 12th. and tried it first time on 16th to find the bin does not slide back in. Tried troubleshooting and won’t work. The plastic bin lock was simply faulty. I did not want a replacement as feel it’s not that reliable anyway, so returned it. Show details
No power head – I purchased this product and it just sits in the cupboard. It doesn't have a power head which makes it extremely difficult to push around. It is not a smooth action and it is just too difficult to use. Very disappointed. Show details

Dyson big ball vacuum - don’t buy one – I bought this because I have dogs, and paid $800 for it. This is the most rubbish vacuum ever. Blocks up after five minutes vacuuming. Try to lift it out of its casing to empty the chamber … falls apart and ditches everything you just vacuumed onto the floor. Otherwise you get to the bin and find yourself swearing to empty it because of the… Read more
chamber mechanism. It is dreadful. I was sucked in by the marketing. Don’t be.every time I use it I’m cursing. I haven’t got rid of it because it was so expensive. Don’t go near it.

Good for hard floors, not for carpets – I bought this big ball model to replace an earlier model that the barrel had broken - it had a motor head. I couldn't find parts to repair my old Dyson and I wasn't happy that there didn't seem to be a new model with a motor head, but I bought the big ball because Dyson's are great in my experience. After several months of using the big ball I… Read more
noticed puffs of dust coming a large mat in the family room. On close inspection, on hands and knees, the mat looked dirty even though I'd thoroughly vacuumed it 3 days before. My dogs love to play on so it gets pretty dirty, including debris from the garden that they bring inside on their coats.
I pulled out my old Dyson, that I had managed to repair with a used part from eBay, and I vacuumed the mat with my favourite motor head. The barrel of the old vacuum cleaner filled with dirt that the new big ball hadn't sucked out of the mat over the past few months. See the attached photo that shows how much dirt came out of the mat alone - I made sure the barrel was empty before I cleaned it with my old Dyson and emptied it onto a used puppy pad - the dirt that my old Dyson sucked up was disgusting. So I thought I'd better clean all the carpets in my house with the old Dyson motor head vacuum cleaner. The same thing happened - the old vacuum cleaner sucked up piles of dirt that the big ball had left behind.
I now use $899 Dyson big ball for the car and I use my old faithful 2008 Dyson with the motor head for cleaning my house, because the 2008 model sucks dirt out of carpets that the new big ball model doesn't.
Ouch, that really hurt!! – The Big Ball's telescopic handle fitting on the end of the flex hose poses a significant pinch risk. I hand minority pinched my skin before so was wary of it but tonight when trying to manoeuvre a brush end to clean an architrave above a door, the skin on my bicep got caught something terrible. Worse, I couldn't work out how to release the skin...… Read more
I moved the telescopic section in and outward but was still trapped. Finally, logic told me it must have to move outward, which I did but the damage (to me) was done. If Dyson had better brush ends, especially hook shaped fittings for cleaning flat surfaces that are waist height or above, people like me wouldn't have to get the hose and fittings into contorted positions to clean things. In addition, while the suction of the Big Ball is good and the vacuum head that came with the machine is great for carpet it's next to useless for wooden and tiled floors. I've attached a pic of the pinch mark on my bicep, which is getting more red by the minute.
This is certainly not what we would expect any Dyson Owner… Read more

Better than I originally thought – Not user friendly as is difficult to slide over my thick carpet. Have had to set the suction control to its lowest setting. However, easy to empty and no filter to clean. I have bought Dyson before and expected a better product. Show details · 1
Good!!! – Recently brought it ...very happy with the product. It’s really great. We have a very hairy dog and our carpet is really hard to clean .. easy to use and empty I love it best product.. Show details
Very Good – We have been using this for over a year now and i can tell you its the best vacuum we've owned, got it on special. It really does a good job on tiles and floorboards. Show details

Not what I expected from Dyson – This is our fourth Dyson but I must say this! we are quite surprised at the poor quality of this one compared to the last 3 from the poor head unit which really struggles on both our carpet and rugs it is not smooth it leaves weird pile marks on the carpet it either sticks to the floor or doesn’t pick up fluff first or second go. Then to empty… Read more
the dust unit is just not easy anymore with this one it stays inside I have to use my hands to pull it out, it’s just a crappy setup. Go back to your original design. This is like a cheap knockoff in comparison. If I can return it for a refund it I will.

Poor finish & quality – We bought a new Dyson big ball Kinetic to replace our old Dyson that would have been 15 years old. The new “multi floor head” is vastly inferior to the old separate heads as the “brush” selection is made of a silicone rubber it leaves rub / scuff marks on our timber floor. No option for a bristle head from Dyson so had to adapt the old head via… Read more
tape & an adaptor. The older foot operated switches on the ball are now flimsy hand push buttons which are awkward to use. If you were to use the switches as foot operated they would break in no time. Then we have the “holder” setup on the ball to hold the head & telescopic hose. It doesn’t hold the setup unless delicately placed & if you walk past it while in the “docked” position , don’t walk too close or it will fall off crashing to the floor. All little things but with the effect of poor user friendly setup, which is sold as a superior brand of vacuum

Poor suction quality – Bought this vacuum as our V10 absolute runs out of battery too quick. I ran the big ball over my bedroom and loungeroom carpet, it hardly grabbed anything. Ran my V10 over it and it collected more than the bigball even after it had already been cleaned. Don’t waste your money like I did. It’s big bulky and expensive for no reason. Show details

Disappointing for a Dyson – We bought this to replace our old Dyson which could not be repaired. It is very disappointing. It scratches our hardwood floors. It doesn't pick up all the dirt. I have to go over several times on both rugs and hard floors to pick up dirt. We've had it for 15 months and wish I never bought it. A cheaper model that is much more inferior to our previous one. VERY UNHAPPY with the scratches it is leaving behind on the floors. Show details

Good vacuum cleaner, but duel cleaner head needs improvement – We bought this vacuum cleaner based on two major selling points. First , the Dyson name & 2nd the duel cleaner head. Whilst this vacuum cleaner is good, the cleaner head fails to pick up all of the dirt on carpet and scratches floor boards. After a call to the Dyson help line ( who were helpful ) it was recommended that we replace the cleaner… Read more
head to a Carbon Fibre Turbine Head. We have since recieved & used the head , and the difference is obvious .
The Carbon Fibre Turbine head is much better BUT at an EXTRA cost to us of $129.00 .
This is disappointing as after investing in a Dyson we had expected that we get great results first time.
If you are going to invest in a Dyson or a vacuum cleaner , look into a cleaner that comes with a carbon fibre turbine head.

Good for the job – I use this on tiles, carpet and rugs. Cleans well but hard to get it to move on rugs even when I select carpet option. It’s also heavy but most new vacuum cleaners seem to be heavier made. Cleans very well when it comes to carpets and tiles. Easy to pull out and clean and reassemble. Does not need replaceable filters. Show details · 1
Powerfull machine – Its really powerful machine with great suction. I would highly recommend this product who does not have any issue handing a little bulky vacuum cleaner. Little pricy but lucky for me got a great deal from Good guys when purchased this product. Show details
Wow ! Just WOW!! – This vacuum has exceeded my expectations! As soon as it arrived i got it out and vacuumed the guest room! Which appeared to be very clean! However the amount of dust that was sucked up was mind blowing! I have over 5 cats and this vacuum just diminishes the fur and dust from the carpets! Its so powerful it sucks the carpet from the floorboards! I… Read more
will never buy another brand of vac ever again!! Absolutely amazing!! Dont even look at the price this is an investment!
Bad on tiles – I regret buying this vacumm it is horrible on tiles, I have to go over the same spots alot and lift it up to pick up bulky dirt, the suction isn't very good on carpet and it keeps clicking and sounding like it's clogged when nothing is in it then I have to turn it on and off and it sounds normal again till I put it along then it makes the clogged sound again Show details

Very powerful – We have always had ducted vacuum so we wanted a powerful vaccum. after reading several reviews chose to buy Dyson Big Ball. We have been very happy with it so far, we have a large house so quite a bit of vacuum is required every week. We only vacuum on carpet as we usually prefer to sweep the floor. Show details
Beware if you have wooden floors! – Dyson barrel vacuums with the ball are great on carpet. BUT they are terrible on wooden floors once the swivelling ball underneath gets a bit worn - about 12 months. Once worn, the ball produces scuff marks all over the wooden floor. Will never buy one again. Show details

Disappointed!! – I had it for a couple of months and one of the ball covers came off. Couple weeks later the other side fell off. Can’t fix or put the covers back on as they are held on by plastic clips. Huge waste off $699. The suction is crap opposed to my 10 year old Dyson. Dyson, you have lost this consumer. I got excited when I saw the garbage truck tip it in the back and drive away. Miele all the way!!! Show details

A Dyson at last – I bought the Big Ball Origin to use on my tile and carpet floors. The suction is great on both surfaces and we are really happy with it. Much better than cheaper models from other brands previously used. Show details
Best Vacuum I have owned – Really like this vacuum, this is my first Dyson. Super convenient to use, the collector bin empties out to trash without a hassle n without getting your hands dirty. I am so happy with my Dyson – I have always wanted a Dyson and over the years I’ve seen friends and family use there’s and loved the style and quality of the brand. I’ve just purchased mine and used it about 4 times, I’ve found that the suction is fantastic and the amount of attachments included is sufficient for my townhouse. I’m surprised at the amount of dirt and dust it picks up... makes me wonder how much I might be breathing in! Show details
some improvements – we previously had the DC54 and so have had the opertunity to see the areas where the Dyson engineers have mad some mistakes and over engineered some areas and under engineered others. The DC54 had better tracking and ability to be pulled around corners due to the front V shaped sled front wheel assembly , we find this unit is really had to pull… Read more
around a door jam! Although the new unit can self right I would prefer the better tracking ability of the previous model. The articulated handle is a perfect example of over engineering for no good reason. the previous handle was just fine in all situations and now the extra weight just adds to the fatigue in the wrist area we didn't experience before. Maybe some people like to vacuum the ceiling every time they vacuum ... we don't ? The dust bin is greatly improved and was needed and there was lots of reviews in this area. The only thing they have missed is the flimsy little clip that holds the lid on , quite often the latch comes loose and if you don't grab the bin from both ends the bin opens itself all over the vacuum. My Mum also has the same vacuum and I have had to go and clean up the mess for her on several occasions...lucky I have an extra vacuum on hand to clean up the Dyson mess. There are some extra things added to this unit that were not needed but the issues above are the main ones. Otherwise , the turbine head is one of the best I have used and the suction is always good , there is no figures published about filtration and this is a bit of a downfall if you are an asthma sufferer, not that emptying any bag less vacuum over a bin is good for anyone with allergy issues . I just wish there could be some way to fix my bin issues.
We certainly wouldn't expect the bin to open on your… Read more
A SUPER SUCKER! – My Dyson BBO is a fantastic unit and super is the operative word used in describing it. It’s so easy to assemble and sucks up everything in its way that I vacuum over, it’s lightweight and so super quiet. It’s a super sucker and I just love using it! It’s on par with my Dyson DC19 that I had for 14 years. The Dyson Big Ball Origin is a must buy… Read more

Thank you Dyson for a fabulously hassle-free, no nonsense unit and thank you BigW for the sale price I paid for it, only $399.00.
WONDERFUL MACHINE – Used for carpets and skirtings and window sills to remove debris built up. Love this machine, have had it 7 years or so and bought the Animal stick to use daily. Show details
Dyson Dynamite – Used tiles and carpet on this machine. Cleans perfectly on these surfaces, really sucks well on the carpets. If it tips over it rights itself. It is a heavier machine, but it does not deter from its performance. Deftly empties when you wish to empty it. Great too for vacuuming your car. Show details
Dyson Big Ball – First time user. Loved it. Was curious to see what everyone was raving about. It is a heavier machine. But I prefer to at least carry it rather than pull it to save wear and tear on the hosing. Cleans well, so easy to use. Woth the weight Show details
For great for me – I find this vacuum is too big and does not work well on my wooden floor boards. Love my Dyson – I absolutely love my Dyson Bill Ball Origin vacuum. It performs wonderfully, has great suction, corrects itself if it topples and finds dirt no matter what. Damaged wooden floors – So dissapointed in this vaccuume, its scratched our wooden floors since day 1. Contacted customer care and was told it wasnt specifically for wooden floors (its a vacuumme, what else will I be doing with it than cleaning floors?!) and I'd have to pay for another attachment that won't damage my floors! What a crock! Terrible customer service!! Will be taking it back for a refund and never buying Dyson again Show details
Excellent vacuum cleaner – I never looked back once I went Dyson. Great suction, great design, totally deserve the dollars spent. I recommend the wired one as you don’t have to count down the time the battery will run out. Show details
I love vacuuming now! – Great vacuum, makes vacuuming the house seem like less of a chore. Great suction, no smell and it doesn’t blow dust in the air which means I don’t have to open the windows to air the house. Great for people with allergies. Show details
Good vacuum – Very good suction the vacuum is a bit heavy but other than that no complaint filter easy to clean doesn't need cleaning more than once a year easy to empty dust . Show details
Major safety hazard. Should be recalled – My previous Dyson caught on fire just outside of warranty so I purchased the Dyson Big Ball Origin. This has a major design flaw that the swivel/retractable part that is adjacent to handle will pinch whatever it comes in contact with. I’ve struggled to get the skin from my arm out once it is stuck in it, same for my T-shirt. Dyson admitted that… Read more
they knew it pinched when I first called them but said they had never seen an injury like mine and considered it a safety issue. The machine itself has no warnings of the only way that this can be safely handled (excluding getting your clothes stuck in it), is it can only be moved/used/operated/dismantled/attachments fitted etc etc by ONLY holding handle otherwise you have a nasty injury coming your way. If you’re vacuuming behind furniture, your car etc, this becomes almost impossible. This machine has the potential to inflict serious injury so I would avoid buying, keep children away and watch your skin, clothing, hair when using. Dyson have been so unhelpful and left it to me to try and get a refund from Harvey Norman. I will be pursing with Fair Trading. Appalling service from Dyson, this machine should be recalled. It is a major hazard and if you google you will see that this issue has been identified already. I will never buy another Dyson product, really disappointed with their appalling service.
