Stands the test of time – Had it for a decade and still like new. That's quality! Show details · 1
Best vac I've ever owned – Bought this 2nd hand and it's never missed a beat. This vacuum is light to handle, runs and swivels smoothly from wooden and tiled floors to carpeted rugs picking up everything in its path including hair. Yes hair, have family of girls with long hair. Never had a blockage to deal with and no tangled hair to dislodge from a brush. Emptying it… Read more
afterwards is the easiest thing ready to go for the next time use. The pressure trigger on the handle for lighter cotton blend rugs when I don't need full suction is great. It's powerful but quiet compared to previous vacuums and doesn't take up much space to store away. I hope this keeps running for many more years to come.
Best Vacuum ever! – I've had this vacuum nearly 12 years paid 399 for it at the time on special. Such a shame Dyson don't make them like they used to! Recently purchased the animal cincetic and return it, terrible quality. Great customer service but. Dyson please return to the way you used to make them!! Show details
13 years still like off the showroom floor – Have moved around a lot in 13 years. Used on carpet, tiles, wood, concrete, rubber and many more. Has never missed a beat. A little bulky and noisy but the suction is epic. Well worth the money at the time of purchase. Show details
Perfect type of vacuum – Best for getting rid of babys crumbs on all types of flooring and carpets. Dosent lose suction and collects hair from the pets aswell. No issues with vacuum tipoing over as swivelling around Show details
A great vacuum – I have mostly timber floors and so to have a vacuum be able to clean them well is important. The floor tool is a must for this vacuum - I brought mine separately. It's a little noiser than I would like and I can't get parts from Dyson anymore which is disappointing. Show details
12 Years & Going Strong – We Love our Dyson. Great investment that we can’t live without. It is great on carpet and on our new floor boards. We’ve used it inside and our outdoor entertaining area. It’s great with the attachments for the car as well. We purchased extra filters when we bought it so we can rinse and still use it without stopping. Show details
Doesn’t suit tall people – I find this machine excellent. However like most vacuum cleaners the “wand” or the bit you run over the floor needs to form a seal between the head and the floor to get full suction. If you’re tall, you have to bend over to achieve the right angle and get head in full contact with the floor to be effective. Otherwise, you’ll leave a gap around the… Read more
head of the brush and air will leak in.
If you’re 150 cm tall then the length of the wand is perfect. If you’re 195cm tall, then this cleaner doesn’t match your body height. I dare say the latest models, would be just as bad.
Best vacuum ever – Used this Dyson for 10 years now, and is still going strong. Never missed a beat. Would only ever buy a Dyson now if this one ever packs it in. It's fairly heavy and noisy, but can't fault the suction whether its on carpet or floorboards, and that's what its all about. I also do the venetian blinds and mattresses. Show details
Best vacuum I've ever had – The only bad thing about this vacuum is that it has lifted my expectations and to this day I have not found a better vacuum. If there was one single item I could bring back to life other than my pet fish Bill who jumped out of its tank when I was 4 it would be this model! Show details
Can't live without my dyson – My Dyson DC 19 is still going strong after 5 years of daily use. I've used my dyson on both carpets, tiles and wooden floors. The filter only needs cleaning every 6 months or so and is so easy to do. The suction is still fantastic. I love my dyson. Show details
Planned Obsolescence? – After 9 years, the motor on my faithful but very expensive Dyson DC19 died with a cough and the smell of burnt electrics. I contacted their service centre to see what my options were regarding a repair only to be told that the DC19 is now a "retired" machine, with no parts available for repairs. I was offered a 25% discount on the RETAIL price… Read more
of a new Dyson, which was pleasing to hear, but given the price of their products even 25% off leaves the Dyson still an expensive purchase. This could be an attractive proposition, if one could be sure that the product was a little more robust. It is not unreasonable to expect that a highly engineered and high priced product to have some longevity factored into it's construction. The only conclusion I can draw is that to save a few cents at the time of purchase, the engineering did not extend to the motor. I have a 25 year old Panasonic still going well, which begs the question why can't Dyson engineer the motors on their vacuums to be likewise. Reading these pages it would seem my case is not an isolated case, rather, it would seem to be the rule.
8 years old no parts available – Tried to order a new turbine head for my bc19 vacuum cleaner, advised no longer available,I then enquired about any other type of carpet tool and advised no longer available .They then offered me 25% off new unit. Built in obsolescence a great way to make money. I won't buy another Dyson. Show details

Know better, choose better.
good for 5 years ONLY – Bought a Dyson DC19 about 5 years ago. It blew up on me last week, really disappointed as I knew I would have to dispose of it in a eco friendly way which costs $$ and is a pain in the butt. I really thought when I bought it, it may well be the only vacuum I will ever have to buy as I do when I buy high end brands. Pros- suctioned well (when… Read more
emptied first), bagless, sturdy enough to stomp on for start and throw around.
Cons- smelly, loud, broke within 5 years, scratched hardwood floors
Instead of buying this brand again and after looking at the latest model and reading reviews I've decided against Dyson and instead bought a Vacuum at a equivalent price the 'Miele 09983750 Complete C3 Comfort TotalCare PowerLine Vacuum Cleaner' wish me luck :)
Solid suction – Great product with Solid carpet suction. Bought secondhand and replaced filters and checked motor. Better built then the newer dyson, similar in weight. Great parts support if you are diy otherwise just by new with warranty. I am not a dyson fanboy though and would not pay new prices for his product! Show details
Lasted the distance – Our Dyson DC19 just died after 8 years of faithful service (purchased June 2008). This vacuum cleaner has lived through several house moves, renovations, 2 dogs and the usual dust from a 3 person household. It is quite heavy and bulky but from what I've read in other reviews, these older models are more robust than the current ones. I've… Read more
called the Service Centre (in Brisbane) and they suspect the motor has burned out and will cost $155 to replace. There was a burnt smell and spluttering sound. This includes the part ($80), labour ($65) and shipping back to me ($10). They could also arrange an Australia Post label so that I could drop off to the post office where they will collect it. They will have a look at the machine first, give you a quote and if you decide not to proceed they send back the machine free of charge.
Thought about replacing the motor but have just bought a new vacuum instead (Miele which has so much more suction, though it is a bagged vacuum). Still, I'll be sad to see this Dyson go as it was very reliable. The customer service from Dyson is also pretty good.
Lost the love of my life today DC19 – I have excessive hoovering habits and also use it for my work as a private cleaner. My DC19 died today after 8 solid years hard graft! Daisy did me so well only disappointed I spent 70£ on parts last week that my dog ate and this week she blew up mid flow of use. Much ♥️Dyson
Brilliant while it lasted!! – loved it while it went - then out of the blue, just smelt of hot electrical smell, and could see changes in ON/OFF switch, spluttering noise as well. very scary! BUT the suction continued just the same. We put it away for fear of fire or worse, but I have read reviews stating it can probably be fixed if I send it to them. will try in their business hours as this would be very acceptable to me.
Let down by dyson, in a puff of smoke – I had a dyson DC19Y brought from Harvery Norman, the unit is only just 7 years old and hasnt done lots of work, all my kitchen and dinning Area is tiled and only a small lounge and hall way Area Carpeted, plus bedrooms, the vacuüm cleaner is used less than once a week and today it made lots of crackling sound and in a puff of smoke the unit is… Read more
Now dead, the filters get washed and Well Dried Every 6 months or less and the dirt collector washed every month, why is it that such a good brand has died so quickly, I look after it well and it looks brand new, this was my first Dyson, brought brand new when I moved into my new home, what a let down, these are not a cheap and there reputation for being a long lasting vacuum clean has me wondering what I do now, I've been let down by Dyson.
Why did a unit that did not do much work just stop like that, very unhappy with Dyson.
Bring back the DC19 !!!! As good as it get for a bagless vacuume cleaner – I've now owned this DC19 unit for 6 years and no problems what so ever, except the motor just went on me ... Ho Hum!. After investigation the motor brusher disintegrated and stopped working, I figure I may as well replace the whole motor as the brushes cost ~25% of the motor. New motor brushes = $20 (eBay 2015 non Dyson) New motor = $73 (eBay… Read more · 1
2015 non Dyson)
This unit was great, very sturdy, well-built did & did not break easily. You'd have to go very hard on it break it physically. I would buy another without hesitation ... but they don't make them anymore.
My wife decided to buy a 2nd Dyson the DC54 filter less multi floor model and it is not a touch on as well built as the DC19. I think somebody in the Dyson factory got a bonus for reducing production costs & components cost saving.
i intend to write a review about that model as well the DC54 & it will only be getting 1 Star, i'm expecting it to break within the year.
Bring back the DC19 !!!!
