discontinued and could not be supplied ever'. I was annoyed that it was not held for me but now realise it was probably never in stock. I advised them the same day that it was still on the website. They apologised. The following week I used the online chat - 'its still on the website- do you have stock? They apologised and said they'd remove it immediately. This has now happened 5 times - it's now March 2026 and the rug is still on the website, and still 'in stock and ready to deliver'. When I asked why it had taken 5 weeks from mid Dec to late Jan, to let me know that it was out of stock, I was told that they had spent that time checking 'all their stores for stock'. I think they thought I believed them. In addition to all that, my bookcase was delivered in late Jan as promised. One week later I was advised my bookcase was booked for delivery in 2 days time. I rang, I emailed, I used the online chat to let them know that my bookcase had ALREADY been delivered the previous week. This was acknowledged and I was thanked for letting them know. However, on the day, the messages started - 'your delivery is due at 9am' ...it was only when the truck was literally around the corner, 5 mins away that somebody responded to my "do not deliver- it was delivered last week!!' messages and said 'ok thanks'. So yeah, I do not recommend - don't even look at the website, you will see pretty things that don't really exist anywhere except the website.

A company that honours Consumer Law – I was going to write a review about the Lotti Queen bed.. that’s it beautiful but NOT built strongly. On the first occasion when a leg bent on the (too small) bolt it attaches to, they quickly sent out a replacement centre bar and legs. Then the centre bar caved.. and they sent parts again.
I’ve had to assemble the bed a couple times, and I have been given the ok to retrofit a centre leg (not voiding warranty?), and yes, I think the bed base needs to be stronger, but Early Settler is to be commended for respecting and adherence to Australian Consumer Law and for offering great customer service.

Just a warning to anyone who has purchased anything from Early Settler Furniture in the last couple of years made from what they call "reclaimed timber". beginning and I had to add extra brackets and bracing when I put it together, which I'm glad I did because the larvae had eaten around the fittings and they'd come loose so the only thing holding it together WAS the brackets I added! I paid $1799.00 for this bed. I expected the posts splitting over time, but an infestation would have been obvious at the time of manufacture and they clearly didn't bother to treat it appropriately AT ALL. What they DID do, was filled the egged-up holes with putty, so as the bugs started to eat through and emerge, I noticed the "timber" crumbling away when I vacuumed it.
I emailed them with photos on the 29th December. They didn't call me until the 7th January, when I was told that they wouldn't issue a refund unless they picked the bed up, so I reluctantly agreed but I knew I would have to have a pest inspection done, not only to make sure it was contained and they hadn't spread to anything else in the house, let alone the house itself, but to cover myself once they took the evidence.
The person I spoke to said they usually deal with the EPA themselves, so this was standard procedure and she promised me that I would be refunded a soon as the bed was collected. She organised it for the following Monday 13th.
All of their messages about the collection mentioned "my delivery", not pick up. I put this down to a system thing. The same person emailed me to say she was watching "my delivery" closely and would process the refund as soon as it was complete.
I emailed as soon as the bed was picked up, she emailed back in the afternoon and said the refund was processed and would take up to 3 business days. They've made my order on their Shopify app look like I just paid $99.00 for delivery of nothing, but no notes about an actual refund, they've just zeroed the product quantity.
So by Thursday, there was still no sign of the money. I contacted Paypal who said there was no new activity on that transaction and no way they could have processed any kind of refund through them due to the age of the invoice. I emailed Early Settler again, got a next day response saying they would have to direct transfer and needed my bank details and that will take another 3 days.
I'm STILL waiting for the refund that was promised to me by Early Settler. They just keep telling me to wait longer. It's been more than the 3 business days (both times), and more than their own 7 day refund timeframe on their website.
I've lodged formal complaints with the ACCC and Consumer Affairs. I've advised the EPA also because I don't believe that they've actually had the bed inspected AT ALL when they have no issue lying to their customers.

This is completely misleading to customers who believe they’re purchasing an item that’s ready to go. When I requested a refund, as I couldn’t wait that long, I was told I would be charged a 20% cancellation fee — even though the delay was entirely due to their false advertising.
This practice feels unethical and unfair. Customers should not be penalised for a company’s lack of transparency. If the true stock status and delivery timeframe had been clear upfront, I would never have placed the order. Early Settler needs to be honest about product availability, stop misleading consumers and give me my refund back!
