provide good advice at all. Now goes by Simon Smith Home Loans.
We have since gone with a different broker and have been approved with great customer service.
Waste of Time – Had an email from eChoice so looked into it, was put in touch with [name removed]. He promised us huge improvements on out payments, made 1 application which for reasons unknown was declined. He then dropped us like a stone and wouldn’t respond to emails. We’ve since organised a new mortgage ourselves with little issue, a waste of time…! Show details

Poor service – In mid May of this year I Selected echoice on my mobile device due to an advert for lower home loan rate as I was looking to refinance. that she would pass on my details to a very experienced senior consultant called [Name Removed]. An appointment was scheduled for the following day.
I was keenly waiting on [Name Removed] call at 2pm that next afternoon. I did get a call from her but for some reason I was unable to hear a word [Name Removed] spoke. I then rang back the number [Name Removed] had called with, it went through to voice machine, I left a message suggesting [Name Removed] call my work landline. She did message me saying she had heard my voice message and agreed with my idea. I then messaged [Name Removed] again giving further details and suggesting a time of 5pm that afternoon.
Again come 5pm that afternoon I was awaiting a call ftom [Name Removed] to my landline at 5pm. Instead what do I get? A call ftom [Name Removed] to my mobile at 5:20pm. AGAIN [Name Removed] voice was inaudible. She had the indignation to send a message indicating the problem was from my end however I was able to hear the receptionist from echoice for pre-approval, and other callers loud and clear.
In my good nature I gave the company another chance. In the following week I sent [Name Removed] an email explaining the events of the afternoon when [Name Removed] attempted to contact me. I thought [Name Removed] would have the good nature to arrange another time to chat. Instead what do I get? To my INDIGNATION I was sent some details for another customer, out of my good nature I immediately deleted this. Only to then find that [Name Removed] sent me znother email advising me to delete the previous one.
After that terrible incident this senior financial did not even bother to contact me at all. No apology - nothing. What a joke if a company.

exceptionally easy for us to understand! Shane took the time and made sure that he fully understood our circumstances and that we too fully understood what was available in the market then. His communication and follow up is second to none - from documentation submission, progress updates, next steps etc, it was smooth sailing all the way for us... and just in time to move in to our home just before Christmas too !! I would not hesitate to recommend Shane to anyone looking to buy their first home or maybe to refinance. Top bloke.

Pathetic – The broker initially assigned was helpful, reliable and easy to deal with. Our application was then handed over to a “senior broker” who has dragged our application out for over six months, takes weeks to respond to calls or emails, has requested information from us at least half a dozen times due to time lapsing and has had us repeat… Read more
verifications because she hadn’t bothered to check to file to see what was done prior to taking over. There was no need to change brokers. We were more than happy with our first broker. The senior broker made a complete mockery of the situation and we will never use this service again, nor will we ever recommend it

Poor communication, inept operations. Steer clear of eChoice – I engaged eChoice to refinance my home loan on March 3 2021. I was assigned to Divya who took me though all the discovery questions needed to commence the process. I provided all of my documentation and answered all questions on March 11. In this information, I disclosed to Divya that I have a credit card with a $5k limit that I use mainly for… Read more
collecting frequent flyer points, and asked if I needed to close this to proceed with the application. I was advised I didn't need to and I may be asked during the application process to close it if it will help get the application over the line.
After submitting all this to Divya, I was advised by email I would receive a call "Monday or Tuesday". I didn't get a call and followed up with an email on the Wednesday advising of times I was available for a call. I didn't get a response until a week later where I was presented with three banks to choose from. I settled with ANZ as they had the most attractive offer for my requirements. After some additional delays, my application was completed and submitted to ANZ on April 16.
After two weeks of radio silence, I was emailed by someone on April 30 (no name on the email, just a generic 'echoice team') to advise that ANZ will pick up my file on May 10. I understand that during this busy period of everyone wanting to refinance, it will take some time for the bank to review. By May 13 I had heard nothing, so tried to call to no avail, then emailed asking for an update. I received a response same day saying the bank had pushed put the application to May 17.
By May 25, I had heard nothing. I tried calling Divya but couldn't get through. I called the main eChoice number and was told that someone will call be back with an update. I received no such call. I emailed asking for an update and got no response.
I called the main eChoice number again on May 27 and was told that Divya had left, and that the person looking at my file was in a meeting and will call me back before COB that day. I never received a call. The next day (May 28) I called the main number again, and was told the person looking at my file was in a meeting and will call me back within 30 minutes. Almost two hours later, I received a phone call from Kiefer who is a manager at eChoice and apologised for not ensuring a smooth hand over of my file from Divya to her replacement. After looking at my file, Kiefer advised that my application with ANZ was actually denied on May 19 because a credit check had revealed they found a credit card on my file that 'was not disclosed', even though I had disclosed that Divya and eChoice during the initial discovery questions in March. Kiefer then committed to have my file reviewed with ANZ and this question on the credit card cleared up.
Kiefer advised me that he would call me today (May 31) by COB. I received two emails from him during the course of the day saying eChoice had been unable to connect with ANZ and that I will receive a call. I did not receive such a phone call. Interestingly, I made an inquiry with my local ANZ branch directly, and they have been able to help me.
In my case, eChoice failed to complete my application properly (by not disclosing to ANZ I have a credit card even though I disclosed to eChoice that I do), failed to communicate with me at key moments during our engagement, failed to advise me at anytime before May 28 that the bank had declined my application on May 19, and they failed to ensure a transition of my file from someone who had departed the company. This has been an extremely time consuming process and one that I could have avoided by choosing to use a broker.
I would strongly discourage anyone from engaging eChoice for any purpose.
