Excellent product for thermal efficency
We purchased our windows from Ecostar approximately five years ago. We wanted to improve thermal efficiency. The installation was seamless. It took 2 days to install 7 windows and doors. It was a pleasure to have the installers. They were very decent guys. Our gas bills are lower. It does a very good of keeping the heat in, in winter. There is very little temperature change throughout the house. Another bonus is that the glass is self cleaning. Security is good. Another thing I like is with the old metal frame windows, they were not the...rmally efficient, but with the plastic windows the profile is much more thermally efficient than the metal frames. Today we are ordering another 5 windows and a new front door from Jared. Another real benefit is that the windows are condensation free.
Very good product. Highly recommend.
We ordered windows in the family room and kitchen to begin with. 7 windows and doors to start about 4 or 5 years ago. The next order was a few years ago and we did the study, front bedroom, en suite and above the front door.
We wanted heating and cooling insulation and reducing noise at the front. It's been very good with the heating. Before the heater was on all the time, the thermostat wouldn't cut out. Now we set it to 18, it gets there and stops. Saving on gas! The noise reduction has helped a lot. We live on a main road and it has h...elped. The installers were very good. Both times they were good. Friendly. Cleaned up and took all the rubbish. The glass they installed was spotless. Very expensive. It hurt actually. However, the back window was massive. A wall of windows. It killed me, but that's okay. Today we are ordering at the hallway, dining room and laundry from Jared.
Quality product. Efficient and friendly staff. Efficient and through installation process and follow-up
I ordered a patio door, 2 dining room windows, large back window and two hall way windows about 5 years ago from Ecostar. The quality of the product is excellent. Follow up and ease of negotiating tweaks and things I might have wanted to change was very easy and staff were patient and accommodating. I wanted climate control and noise control. Very satisfied. You notice the level of noise reduction when you open a door. I like that I can have the music up loud and not worry. It feels like putting the windows and doors in was a very good thin...g to do. I really like the level of security. I am looking at doing my front door and I'm motivated to do that with security, noise reduction and thermal control in mind. Installation was very good.
Hard Sell reeks of scam.
I have not been that uncomfortable in a long time. The quote went on & on with promises galore IF I signed a contract on the spot. Who the hell does that?? 2.5 hours to see the back of the person who came into my home & took me for somebody who could be persuaded to jump into a contract. This is no way to do business & put me right off. NO SALE!! NO STARS.
Joke of a company
On 2 separate occasions I have contacted ecostar for a quote to replace 5x awning windows. You immediately get a sales person call to schedule a measure & quote, then ask about 10 sales qualifying questions. Then 1 day before the measure & quote you get another call asking the same questions. What they are doing is qualifying whether you are likely to purchase or not. If they feel you will not buy or are collecting multiple quotes, a few hours before the appointment time you get a call saying the guy is sick and cannot attend. As per some ...other reviews, the appointment is simply a 2hr sales pitch, pressuring you to buy. You'll hear statements like, uPVC is designed for 80-90 years in the Australian environment, but its never been tested as it hasn't been in the country for more than 10-15 years and the warranty is only 10 years! This is a despicable & unethical practice, which I will be reporting to the relevant body.
Good all round service and product
Ecostar has been great. Installation really good and efficient. Since then no problems with locking mechanisms or anything. There is a difference with sound coming through compared with where we have the windows and where we don't. Where we have the Ecostar windows we have a busy road and noisy neighbor and we don't hear much any more, but where we havn't done it we tend to hear more noise especially when it's windy. 70-80% noise reduction is what we've found. We ordered back in 2016 about 10 windows and doors. Before we had the windows done o...ur kids couldn't sleep due to the noise and now they sleep well. The heat keeps in. There were two installers that were here for two days. No difficulty with the workmanship around the windows at all. It has been nice to have a 9 point locking system on the front door. We feel very fortunate. It is a fair investment and I don't feel that we have overinvested into the property. We feel we would probably get the amount we spent back if we were to sell the property. Today we are looking at doing some more.
Very pleased with my new patio window
I had to replace a timber 3 m x 2.1 m timber sliding door to the patio. My plan is to replace windows with double-glazing as they become old and rotten for reasons of thermal efficiency as climate change closes in on us. I chose Ecostar because the PVC frame meant no more painting (yay!) and the window is manufactured in the UK which has a lot of expertise in double-glazing. Ecostar’s quoting process is somewhat bizarre and takes about 2 hours plus more if you decide to go ahead, so be patient! Feel free to bargain. They instruct you in all the...documentation, guarantees, technical specifications, colour options, installation procedures and so on. My parents had double-glazing put in many years ago and I always thought it was ugly, but I was very impressed with the new flat profile. The doors look very stylish and I am very happy with them. The double-glazing is a piece of engineering with almost unbreakable glass and impenetrable locks. I was a bit worried that his marvel of engineering would fail at the installation phase depending on the contractor, but Ecostar seem to use their own people. The installation was completely painless and the guys did a fantastic and professional job and cleaned up everything, taking just 3 hours. I think it was a pretty straightforward install. I made an effort to remove everything from the room and outside to make life easy for them. One downside you might need to consider is the fly screen. I rarely open the sliding door and don’t need one. However, if I wanted a screen I would need a retractable screen across the whole 3 m width and these are very expensive. Since everything has gone well for me so far (the install was about 3 months ago), I have not had to ring Ecostar about any problems, so I can’t comment on their customer service. All in all, I am very pleased with the new patio window and will use Ecostar for my next window that needs replacing.
Stay away- this is a scam
The sales person does a sales pitch for 2 hours and will not leave your house without theatrics (I need to call my manager etc!)- the door and window samples are awful and the prices are easily 40% above market price.
Effective, polite, good service and high quality.
We ordered an entry door and garage door from Ecostar in 2013. Our next order were windows in the living area, office, bathroom and en suite in 2015 or 2016. In 2020 we did the bedrooms and bathroom. Today we are looking at the laundry and back door. We were looking to increase thermal efficiency and security. We were used to double glazed windows from back in Germany. We used to have old thin, sliding aluminum windows. In the winter it was cold. There was always draft coming through. Crappy windows. I don't know why they don't make UPVC d...ouble glazed the standard for everyone. It would make it cheaper for everyone. We use the heater less now. Less draft. Less cold. I used the split system air con only twice this year. Our house never went over 26/27 degrees at all in the summer. In summer, it was 26 degrees without the air con on, and our neighbors had their air con on all day. It is quieter now. Traffic noise is less. Don't hear the garbage trucks anymore like we used too. Our old front door had a gap underneath it. Not anymore. Windows are secure. Happy with how they look. If we didn't we wouldn't have kept putting them in. The windows make the house look brighter. The installers were good. Done a good job. I'm happy with it. The only thing that makes it tough is the cost, but it's worth it. The product comes from overseas. I don't like the local window I saw. Why put in aluminum double glazing when aluminum is a heat/cold transmitter.
Expensive, variable installation quality and repeated call backs for repair
The quote process with hard sell and sexist questions are true - as per other reviews. But I succumbed to these expensive windows, which I had installed over three separate installations. The first order and deposit made in January 2020, was for four windows (you get a bigger 'discount' if you order four). However when the guys came to install them in April, there were only three windows. Apparently the surveyor had neglected to order one of them. I was required to complete the payment for all four windows on the day, even though one had not ev...en started manufacture. I was given a discount in order to complete the payment. I then had another 20 weeks to wait for the fourth window, holding up other work on my renovation. A second installer came to install the window when it finally arrived. These two installations appeared to be reasonably well done and insulated except caulking was not done above the kitchen window. At the time of ordering the replacement fourth window, I ordered six additional windows and a laundry window and door. The installation of these was exceptionally poor. I asked for the lower architrave to be left off as with previous installations (as I will install it after the floating floors are installed), however after these windows were installed in October 2020 the house was freezing! The insulation around the windows was terrible, with gaps between the windows and bearers (pictured). In one window daylight was visible though the insulation (pictured). Trim had been removed from the outside between the window and eaves, the trim was broken and a gap left between the installed window and eaves. When I complained to a manager about the quality of the insulation he said that they don't insulate to the bearers! My house has foil insulation and I have had insulation pumped into the walls and installed underfloor. Given the window size of replacement windows is reduced so they can fit them in easily, without proper and full insulation around the window, the only insulation around the window is the architraves, which is insufficient as a form of insulation or noise reduction - very poor indeed given what I paid for and what is advertised as high quality noise and thermal insulation! A repair man came to improve the expanding foam installed, but I ended up completing the job after he left with more expanding foam and insulation. Three days after installation, the laundry door would not lock, so the house was unsecure. I called for a repair, which was not able to be offered for three days, leaving me feel quite vulnerable during that time. The repair man took the door apart and it locked after that. A couple of weeks later on the Monday afternoon before Melbourne Cup, the same thing happened again. I called, but the office had gone home early, so again it was another three days before someone could come and fix the door so it would lock. This time lots of 'spare parts' were removed. At the same time one of the windows was jamming on closing - within month of installation - and it was fixed, but still hits the side of the window on closing. The door has worked for five months now, but I've been very nervous about it happening again. I have since had a security screen installed with the sister company - the only company that you can use to keep your warranty. And of course this comes at a premium price! Do your research - get other quotes before you call this company, knowing it will be expensive, with hard, sexist sell, time consuming, a long delivery time with the risk of poor installation and the need for repair calls. They have a full time employee who goes around doing repairs - but don't dare mention that you expected better for the money you paid, as apparently he tires of hearing it everyday day!
Great but expensive product with archaic sales process and very poor customer service
We have now purchased windows from Ecostar in 3 lots over the past 4 years. The windows do what they say and what we needed, reducing heat gain or loss and reducing sound intrusion into the house. I was only home for the installation the 3rd time (now working from home). The technicians undertaking the installation appear competent and fairly tidy about their clean-up inside the house, although a bit rough about where they set-up their drop saw for trimming timber, leaving sawdust through the garden.
I have been constantly disappointed with...the archaic high pressure sales tactics and long-winded discussion that HAD to occur for each sale in our house. They insist you must have their salesperson in your home for 1-2 hours. The salesperson takes some measurements and puts together a quote, but spends a lot of needless time talking about the company and the manufacturing process. The Salesperson puts the quote together and then tells you about discounts available, including an extra one which is only available for you if you sign-up tonight. My initial reaction the first time was to tell him to go jump, but my partner wanted to proceed, so we did. These same high pressure tactics and waste of time in your house were still required for subsequent orders (of course, once we had some of their windows, we needed to go with them again to ensure the windows all look the same). In the 21st century, we should be beyond inflated prices that are specifically designed to allow for discounts. The other area of complete failure for this company is customer service. There is almost none. Their office can't provide information when you ask for it and are very poor at returning calls or emails. Once the windows are ready to go they are very pushy to get them installed just as quickly as possible, but up to that point it can be very hard obtaining any updates. As someone who has worked in customer service for 20+ years I just cannot fathom how such a company can survive with such an uncaring attitude towards their customers. Shop around and I'm sure you can find a better solution of equal quality for less cost and far less issues
95% maintenance free. Just give it a rub down every now and then.
Excellent from a thermal perspective. Noise reduction good. Australian standards are 3 mil glass, 10 mil gap and then 3 mil glass. The Ecostar one with 4 mil glass, 20 mil space and 4 mil is suitable for Australian standards.
I saw Ecostar at the shopping centre in Endeavour Hills. Office were fine. Quote process with Jared was fine. Fully explanatory. Laid out clearly what you are getting.
Two hours of quote process
Two hours presentation and induction on their company history, product, and safety.
Must have my partner with me. Product is from UK so it takes 20 weeks to be installed. All for a bifold door... a little over the top.
I am sure it will also be more expensive than others out there. I wouldn’t know as I stopped the ‘induction’ half way.
I am also sure they say I’m not the right customer because I refused the presentation. I feel sorry for the salesperson.. what a hard way to make a sale.
Does anyone else notice a pattern of ‘glowing reviews’ after each bad ones such as mine?
Strange and uncomfortable quote experience
Very bizarre experience when the Ecostar salesperson came to my home for a measure and quote. I genuinely went into the appointment interested in their product but after I told the salesperson I was happy to forgo the ‘single visit discount’ and would not be signing up on the spot, they became very pushy, refused to take no for an answer, and I had to lock myself in my study while he performed all sorts of calling ‘his boss’ theatrics until eventually he got the message and left. I have never felt so uncomfortable in my own home and however good their product is, their bizarre hard-sell tactics mean I certainly not buy from them
WOW!!! WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT???
We're getting quotes to replace a few windows at our house. The general process is someone comes over, has a quick chat, takes some measurements, and then leaves and sends a quote within a few days. Works well.
Not with these guys!!! It was actually like a comedy show from the moment I first called after hearing their as on the radio.
The first step is totalk to someone on the phone who makes an appointment and tells you that you'll need 2 hours for the sales person to spend with you. I said I didn't have 2 hours and suggested we should ded...icate about 30 minutes. They said we should be ok. Well, it wasn't ok. After we'd sat with the sales guy for about 15 minutes and felt like we weren't moving terribly quickly, we politely suggested we speed things up and thataybe we could get to the measuring bit as we only has about another 30 minutes to spare. That's when the pantomime really kicked up a gear. "ohh no, there's no way we can do this in 30 minutes. I won't be able to tell you everything about our company and our manufacturing process". We told him that frankly we didn't care about the company and the manufacturing process, we just wanted a measure and quote.

I am only interested in noise reduction as I live on a busy road. Could you provide the RW rating of your various products?

Ni Idea Bernard. I didn't buy the windows.
