I have the heat pump dryer EDH3284PDW. After working fine for months, the water now pools the the front under the filters, and doesn't drain to the back where the pumps sends it to the drain. I have checked the angle, and tried to see it there was a blocked but couldn't see anything. I have tested the pump, and it works fine. Any suggestions?

When I select any programme and press the start button, the control panel displays Err.

The manual has this information:

The display shows Err. If you want to set a new programme, deactivate and activate the appliance. Make sure that the options are applicable to the programme This does not resolve the problem.

My initial problem was that the water from the clothes was not going into the water container. I took off the top, left, right, and front panels and cleaned an awful lot of lint and fluff from inside the machine. When I put the panels back on, I then got the "Err" in the display panel when selecting any programme and pressing the start button.

Hi, I have an EDH3284PDW dryer. It drains into the sink. At startup water empties into the sink. The indicator to empty the water bottle appears after about 10 minutes of use. However, the bottle is empty and completely dry (because it empties into the sink). There is water collecting in a little pool under the heat exchanger (I have to remove all the filters to see this). Any tips on how to fix this myself? Support was useless over the phone and want $140 just to send a technician out. I can buy a new dryer from Aldi for just a little more than that so I'm thinking it isn't worth it.

Blockage where the condensed water goes through a narrow opening to get to the sump - could be a bit off sound insulation washed into it.

Hi, is it possible to wall mount this model? If so, will I need to buy additional parts?

Hi Charles, by memory I believe the machine is too heavy to wall mount. I wasn't satisfied with the product either. Most dryers can be wall mounted with a bracket and wall spaces.

Hi, I have an Electrolux EDH3284PDW dryer

my machine does not fill the water tank and the clothes are just a little hot and not dry during a drying time of three hours

Any suggestions on what might be wrong?

Jessie Mc

I'm not sure I can help, but from what you describe the dryer is not working as it is supposed to. The dryer does have a facility that records the last fault the dryer had so if you contact Electrolux they ought to be able to help you to get your dryer working properly. In my case when I put a small amount of washing in the dryer the clothes didn't dry because they didn't reach the sensor that determines the dampness of the clothes. This resulted in the heater not turning on and the dryer stopping after a short time. I can, however, dry a small amount of washing by using the timer facility as the sensor does not operate in that mode. (The technician explained this to me.)

Can the Electrolux heat pump drier be wall mounted in inverted ( upside down ).

NO - as condensed water is held in a bottom tank which must remain so.

My dryer work well and after 1 yr I have a problem. The drained water doesn't go to the container but it goes down to the bottom where the filters are. Any professional please give advise. The technician came twice to fix but it doesn't work. The water pump have been changed. I' m too tired of waiting.

bad_robot
bad_robot

It should have a 2 year warranty so no need to fix it yourself. Get the tech back as often as required and check if he knows about electrolux stuff but he should if it is a new pump. Sometimes shonky techs put in 2nd hand ones.so make sure you contact electrolux. or your retailer.

Check the drain tube is not kinked - but the tech should have done this

He should have disconnected the drainage from the slide out container directly to the sink (if the sink is close)

If you have a 3 yr extended warranty from, say, H Norman, and it cannot be fixed, then you get a new dryer. So why wait...

Van

Thank you Bad_Robot. I got the Tech from Eletrolux. So far I had to ask my sister 4 days to come to my place for the Tech come to fix the dryer and for the driver to pick up the dryer to work shop. It is so inconvenient because I don't know the time the tech show up until that morning. You just can't plan anything and ask someone to stay home. I still have to wait 4 business days more before I can get my dryer back. Just good luck to me this time.

After 2 years, (just outside the warranty period) I also have an electrolux heat pump dryer that has a failed pump. Luckily, it as an extended warranty. $308 for the pump repair. Problem is, the pump does not empty the sump as the new pump does not work yet, Will need further repair back up to the circuit board with a probably replacement of it. Another $350 to repair, I suspect, bringing the total repair cost to over $650, the price for 2 normal dryers. What!!!

Given this dryer is just over the 2 y warranty period, not a good result. However, 4 years left on the warranty with probably support another $1200 for repairs (based on experiences of failure to date) and bring the total repairs to about the dryer cost itself. Imagine you car windscreen wipers lasting just 2 years. These pumps are vital and should last 25 years without problem like the wipers but they are just a plastic lump which, in this electrolux machine, are now easy to replace. A better idea would be to remove the pump and connect a gravity fed outlet (like aircon draining systems) from the plastic sump which is what I will be doing in 4 years time.

Now awaiting further repair sometime in the next 2 weeks.

Re the 2 year warranty; highly likely that this short period can be extended under Aust consumer law where the value of the appliance dictates the warranty period. ALDI has just advertised had a dryer at $199 with a 3 year warranty ( yes, that is 3 years) so there should be no trouble in getting electrolux to extend the warranty to 4 years for this $2000 priced appliance. Fortunately, manufacturers cannot argue against the implied warranty under consumer law where the manufacturers warranty is limited like this one to 2 years. However, the Harvey Norman extended warranty helps avoid nasty warranty repair argument.

The quality of parts used in a high price appliance certainly need attention by manufacturers, otherwise insurers will be left paying for expensive repairs over a 6 year period which will likely exceed the initial cost of the item. No profits there., eh! But not my problem.

I will post further of my repair adventures which would be a good idea for others who have problems to do the same. - just ask the tech person what he did and report back here as to your results.

Maybe a good idea to look at a different brand given 2 people have had the same problem.

Electrolux should note this (they read these reviews) and provide an industry bulletin with a proper fix and test procedure - Condenser pump failure

Just to speed up consumer support perhaps would be a good marketing move.

So, condensation pump and float changed (part no ZD10H40BS(KE) . Still a fault with water overflowing the sump.

So, control unit replaced (part no 136610509A0 Still a fault with water overflowing out the filter door. For 4 loads, half bucket of water sucked out of the filter and 500mls remaining in the top catcher - something wrong.

Now waiting for an assessment as to the fault. Maybe a wrongly placed float?

bad_robot
bad_robot

Seems a waterway between the area under the condenser and the sump was blocked. Had a hair ball in it. Actual fact, it probably was not hair (which would have been washed out in the washer and caught in the dryers internal lint filter, all we ever saw was just lint - micro fibers only with no hair ever seen). Most likely some of the sound insulation (hairy looking fiberous felty stuff) that is glued to the inside of the dryer or some that fell douwn into the waterway during manufacture.

The dryer works ok now that the offending waterway was air compressor cleaned and some resetting done. If you get water flooding down the front of your washer underneath the dryer, a crochet needle poked into the hole should free any blockage there.

Still no idea as to the failed pump and why it could not be successfully replaced once. Tell the serviceman that a a reset of a number of steps in the onboard diagnostics (press start and buzzer to get to that and rotate the dial clockwise for various steps) will help clear errors which persist after the pumps and control board are replaced. Maybe an issue there if not reset. At least $1000 of repairs here with a miserable 2 year warranty period so I would suggest forking out the insurance premium to take the 'warranty' to 6 years befitting a $2000 complex appliance. Then it is the insurers problem and you wont need to argue with Electrolux or approach fair trading. Even Aldi/stirling give a 3 year warranty for a $199 dryer.

So, if purchasing this dryer (and from what I see, many brands like it), beware the high repair cost and make sure you have a well funded warranty/insurance period.

Electrolux, please take note and beef up the pump quality so it lasts as long as a car windscreen wiper motor (like 25 years, eh!).

And consumers. get out your air compressor and blow out the appliances insides at least every 2 years, as lots of fluff builds up in the interior corners and cranneys and around the drum.

A bad experience but I still like the dryers ability to prevent water and fluff getting into the air. My chipboard cupboards also like it., too.

Maybe the Panasonic is better quality, who can report on that brand?

Most disappointing 'dryer' that we have EVER bought. We have tried all the different cycles and still get clothes that are not completely dry. We thought that was the point of a CLOTHES DRYER.

Had the electrician agent out under warranty and get told that this is normal for this model!

Seriously? A clothes dryer that doesn't dry clothes.

How do I get a refund for this clothes humming machine?

bad_robot
bad_robot

Sounds as though the dryer is not fit for purpose under Aus sales of goods legislation and is a lemon. I would contact Electrolux direct and get a re-assessment. Make sure you clean all lint filters each and every cycle. Not drying is not normal for any clothes dryer.

Just bought this today - same issues - does not dry clothes. Have read manual and found the setting to adjust "Conductivity" and dryness setting. This has been set to C01 "Maximum dryness" and bedsheets are still coming out warm and damp. Despite setting another cycle, on various settings, the machine still stops after 2-5 minutes reporting a completed cycle. We are having to put them in our old 20-year-old Hoover dryer in the shed instead.

I have emailed electrolux to see what their opinion is but has anyone else been able to figure out if these machines are duds, faulty or anything else?

We have had an Electrolux washing machine for 10 years now, and the clothes are spun fantastically and don't need much drying after this - the new dryer seems to little other than hum for under an hour then beep. The casing and door don't seem to be anything more than just warm - is this even normal?

We must have different heat pump dryers with different controls. My dryer has a central rotating switch, top middle, with words like 'extra dry', 'strong dry' and 'cupboard dry.' for cottons or synthetics

There is no "Conductivity" and dryness adjustment setting on my dryer and no C01 "Maximum dryness" setting either. I dont see any settings like these at all so maybe your terms are not typical of those used on the dryer control.

Sounds like your dryer is perhaps a new model but the model number would be different. Maybe it is faulty out of the box. Contact Electrolux.

Gizmo
Gizmo

Thanks for your reply. The model is correct, and you are correct in that there is no obvious conductivity setting. In the manual, it states that you have to hold the two top right buttons in until CO shows on the digital display. You then press another button to cycle this between 1, 2 and 3 bar segments, then press and hold the two top right buttons again.

I have not been contacted by electrolux as yet - but it is a public holiday here. If I don't hear back tomorrow, I will simply return the machine for a full refund.I have no time to mess around with multiple visits from technicians when they can tell me something over the phone. Out of all the Electrolux rep responses here (of which there seem to be two or three sentence variations apart from the name), so far none of them seem to offer any "Have you checked this?" advice, and I would have thought the Conductivity setting was an obvious first. The dryer even had an addition leaflet taped to the top of it - in addition to the manual - that stated this important information.

I've had this dryer for approx 6 months, & happy with all aspects except one, doesn't matter what I've tried, everytime I dry sheets, they "ball up" & I have to constantly pause the machine, undo the tight ball of sheets & start again. I thought the reverse function was meant to stop this happening, any suggestions?

bad_robot
bad_robot

We have not had this balling problem but friends of ours with a Panasonic (does not reverse) did. Maybe due to us always including smaller whites like pillow cases in the dying mix - not just the (2 or so) sheets.

Thanks for your suggestion, I've tried this also, some, none & lots of other whites, but still can't find the right mix. I'll keep trying & better still, hopefully hear from Electrolux!

I am thinking of getting this dryer and need to know how much clearance is required at the back of the machine?

Thanks

bad_robot
bad_robot

No clearance is required which should be just like a front load washer. But depends on where your power points are. If behind the washer/dryer then some clearance will be necessary at about 100 to 150 mm

The dryer is too heavy to mount on a wall like a lesser dryer. But it can just sit on a front load washer (use a rubber mat for this purpose).

No mounting kit is really required. Just make sure a strong person won't grab the dryer and drag it down - but common sense can be rare these days.

I am having the same problems as above customers. Washing is coming out of the tumble dryer damp or wet. when you first set the program to extra dry it states it will take 4 hours. It has completed the program within an hour and is having to be reset. What am I doing wrong ? This unit is less than a month old

bad_robot
bad_robot

Our EDH dryer usually takes less time than the display shows and often up to 1 hour less. However, you must clean the lint filter after each and every use - most important. Otherwise, the airways past the condenser block up with lint and drying time then takes a lot longer (more than 4 hours)

Should you always clean the filters (3 of them) and drying takes 4 hours, I suggest you get on to electrolux and get the dryer checked under warranty.

Make sure the dryer casing and door are hottish to feel (not cold) at the end of the cycle as the dryer is supposed to recirculate the heat internally.

What should be the average drying time for 8kg of clothes on the Extra Dry setting? The reason I ask is that we've had this dryer for 1.5 yrs and it seems to take hours to dry a load. In fact approx 4-5 hours!!!

bad_robot
bad_robot

Extra dry rarely used but the next lower setting, strong dry, can take up to to 2 hours depending on the thickness of the items (like thick bath towels at often 1hr 50 min) We notice the dryer keeps its heat in (re-circulates it?) so often the next load (up to 8 kg too) often is completed in 1.25 to 1.5 hours.

Drier never has run 4 to 5 hours.

I just purchased the 8kg electorlux heat pump dryer edh3284pdw as it had a 6 star rating.

I have put a load of clothes and placed it on the extra dry setting. The machine stopped after 20mins and the clothes were still damp.

I tried a different setting in the hopes my clothes would come out dryer, but the clothes are damp in parts. If this is how it is meant to be, I would have continued to put up with my 4 yr old F&Paykel dryer instead of spending lots of $$$ on this unit.

Could you please let me know if I am doing something wrong.

I just want a simple dryer that will allow me to put my clothes in and dry them 30mins later. I am a little disappointed as I feel I should have just paid a quarter the price for another FP dryer and stick to what I know.

I am hoping this unit is not faulty, just the "user" is slow.

Hope you can assist.

Kind Regards,

Gina
