Clogs easily, overheats and not the best customer experience – I use the vacuum cleaner on engineered floorboards once a week, no kids, no pets. The sponge filter requires regular cleaning, and the hair regularly wraps itself around the round filter in the turbo cyclonic compartment. I also empty the dust collection compartment before it hits the max line. Yet over time, slowly it loses suction, and the… Read more

vacuum cleaner overheats, smells of burnt plastic and eventually dies.

As the first vacuum cleaner was slowing down, we purchased another of the same vacuum cleaner, the same symptoms occur - loses suction, then later starts overheating, and shuts itself off regularly. I gave up and reached out to Electrolux via email, explaining that my family has been big fans of Electrolux for a long time, this is my second vacuum cleaner of the same model that is doing the same thing. I was asked to bring it to a service centre about 30 minutes away, with no promises I will be looked after. I have spent $600 on both vacuum cleaners that do not go the distance electrolux products used to.

Disgusting customer service! – Purchased this vacuum back in 2017, works great if you don’t mind cleaning filters every couple of weeks, also has very small dust bin. My problem is the handle has broken at least once a year since I purchased it, it is definitely a design fault. No problems with getting this replaced while vacuum was under warranty but since warranty ran out on… Read more

the vacuum they have been extremely difficult even though the part it’s self is still under 12 month replacement warranty. The handle broke again , I phoned Electrolux on the 17 June 2020 and let them know . The handle was only replaced on the 4 July 2019 at the service centre they sent me to so still just under warranty . The lady I spoke to was lovely and could see all information in front of her in regards to the handle constantly having to be replaced, she said they would send me out a new handle with no problems. 2 weeks have gone by and no handle has turned up so I called again and conveniently they have no record of me phoning on the 17 June or any of the other handle replacements since the vacuum went out of warranty. So be very careful if you purchase anything from Electrolux and keep all your correspondence from them as I have, always get a reference number when speaking to anyone unfortunately I didn’t do this so now I will have to go though consumer affairs. Unfortunately because of this situation I will never purchase anything with the Electrolux name again. By the way the vacuum I had before was a Dyson which I had for 10 years without having to replace anything before it died , stupid me listened to a friend who had this vacuum and loved it then, but has since had to replace hers with a Dyson.

Great bagless – Had this vacuum for a while, and did some comparisons with a few different nozzles of diff brands. My finding is that the original nozzle came with this vac is the best; it simply provides greatest suction. This is observed as dancing dust in the dustbin, it's entertaining. Drawback of this vacuum is care is really needed to make sure filters… Read more

cleaned frequently, as pre-motor filter is only a foam type filter and not HEPA filter like what's in Ergospace and Oxygen, therefore Ultraflex allows nasty fine dust get passed into motor chamber.only get filtered before blowing out back to the room.

Consequences of this approach is that if HEPA filter get blocked and clogged, due to internal pressure build up, the dusty air will be purged out from the unsealed motor chamber into other areas such as cord winder, electronics/PCB and power control button.

A dusty cord winder will cause winder malfunction thus cord keeps retracting in. A dusty power button will also fail and causes machine malfunction, either not able to power up, or not able to power off, or both. Most frustratingly it will become very temperamental; works someone and will not respond when it feels like it.

This problem is getting more severe in newer Electrolux vacuums, where cheaper microswitch is used widely as power button instead of the older chunkier power toggle switch. The microswitch is low end consumer grade compared to the more robust toggle switch, therefore they are very susceptible to dust failure.

(As a side note; you know it is microswitch as power up/down gives exactly same tactile feel, old toggle switch clicks when pressed to power up, mute when powered down)

But, well, microswitch is a win-win solution for Electrolux; because one, it is just one tenth of what it costs for an old toggle switch, and two, it's a penalty to end user who does not and does not know how to take good care of their machines with frequent cleaning or filters. Probably in Electrolux's definition lately; if it last slightly beyond warranty period, it's a good design.

EXCELLENT product – Extremely happy with this vacuum cleaner, before I purchased my new vacuum, I had a small stick cleaner that had good suction but no power head, so I always felt that my floors and carpets where not as clean as they should be, and I put that theory to test with my new ELECTROLUX ULTRAFLEX ALLERGY Vacuum cleaner, it came with powerhead plus normal… Read more

floor tool and brush etc, I turned it on and seriously within a few seconds of turbo cleaning my vacuum barrel was nearly half full of dirt and dust because the suction is so strong plus my old vacuum just wasn't doing its job. The suction on this new vacuum is strong it sometimes gets stuck on the carpet if you going against its grain but the upside is it picks up all the inground dirt from below the carpet, you can see it happening right before your eyes because as you drag the cleaning power head over the carpet you can see it lifting the carpet slightly, thats a good sign to me as its showing its getting right down to the bottom of the carpet. I got my cleaner on sale however at full price its still certainly worth the money, big thumbs up from me, plus Electrolux is a brand I always favor.

Excellent suction – I purchased this vacuum cleaner 3.5 years ago from Harvey Norman. I paid $279 on sale (price matched). I use it almost daily (minimum 5 times per week) to vacuum the living area, hallway and 3 large bedrooms which are all carpet. Some days it’s used more than once. In that time it’s never lost suction. I am so impressed with the amount of dust… Read more

it gathers every time I use it. I regularly bash out the big filter, but as yet have never needed to replace any of the filters. The only fault I’ve had in that time is the plastic piece that slots the hose to the wand cracked about a year ago, which I’ve stuck together with sticky tape and haven’t thought about again. I’ve had a Dyson(2015), and an earlier model Electrolux (2010) and the Electrolux is definitely the vacuum I would recommend. I can’t comment on customer service as i’ve never used it.

Great, powerful vacuum cleaner – We used this vacuum cleaner to vacuum carpet and tiles each week. The suction power is so strong that the carpet often lifts when vacuumed. One downside is the cumbersome weight that needs to be carried around as the machine does not have smooth-manoeuvring wheels. Show details

This vacuum has some serious design faults that need to be addressed (or ours is faulty) – Having moved on from a previous Electrolux, the Ultra Performer which was excellent, we had no hesitation in looking at another Electrolux. We use this vacuum on hard floors only and the machine is filled with dust and lint within minutes. The cone type filter on the top of the machine gets clogged instantly and the filters get dirty within a few… Read more

minor uses. The performance of the vacuum dramatically drops if you don't clean these filters and empty the canister, which I understand, but surely not after 5 minutes?! There is no way you can even complete 4 rooms unless you empty it completely and clean out the cone filter. It also pushes out a lot of heat. We also purchased the Silent Parketto hard floor nozzle which is apparently "quieter" but that is totally false. I find it interesting now this vacuum is discontinued?

Works OK but plastic used is useless – We have owned our machine for 3.5 years and as far as cleaning house (and car is concerned) the vacuum cleaner works well. BUT... we had the cleaning head (not a power head) replaced under warranty and now the replacement is also stuffed. Our Tellus lasted us 20+ years but this one requires a new head and hose. And because it has a square filling,… Read more

generic heads don't fit.

So if you don't use it often and are real gentle with it, it will work well for you, but otherwise don't expect the bits made of plastic to last. I expected a lot more for my money as this isn't a cheap machine.

Does the job. Let's see how long it lasts – This vacuum cleaner is used only on tiled floors (and for cleaning the car), so I can't really comment on how well it cleans carpeted floors. Pros: Adequate suction, long cord, easy to empty and clean dust container, convenience of all-in-one accessory tool. Cons: Looks and feels like it's made with cheap plastics, so I'm not overly confident… Read more ·  1

how long it wall last. The all-in-one accessory tool is difficult to detach once used and in crevice tool mode isn't very long; individual tools would have been better (but of course dearer to produce).

It's also pretty noisy.

I do get the feeling that this vacuum cleaner has been built down to a price, but to be fair it has reasonable suction, is easy to use and is pretty compact to store. It doesn't seem especially prone to tipping over and is relatively easy to maneuver.

So on the face of it I'd have to say it's OK and I would recommend it.

Power issues blamed on filters – After less than 1 year of use we sent back due to the power not working properly. The automatic winder would wind by itself after just a few months and eventually the power would only work when fully extended, but had to be held out. When brought in under the 5 year warranty dust in the filters was the reason for the cord damage! Not impressed and will certainly not purchase an electrolux in the future.  Show details

Great for pet hair – Love this vacuum, I've had it for over 2 years. Easy to use, fantastic suction, picks up stubborn pet hair. Simple to retrieve something that accidentally gets sucked up. Not very noisy, long cord, simple to empty the barrel. Don't have to rinse the filters very often either. Can recommend, value for money.  Show details

Frustrating vacuum - high maintenance – After my last Dyson, I bought the Electrolux Ultraflex, and what a huge contrast in performance! filters, however I seem to need to clean the filters very frequently. Previous vacuums I have owned have been much lower maintenance, requiring filters to be cleaned only 6 monthly (whilst maintaining suction). Electrolux claim the model sucks up more dirt than other models, and whilst this may be the case, it comes at a cost - much more filter cleaning/ replacing than your average vacuum. Next vacuum will be a lower maintenance model. It's too frustrating having your vacuum stop halfway through the house, and only being able to complete the job 24 hours after cleaning/ drying the filters.

Great vacuum for the price – Very happy with the performance of this vacuum, it has a powerful and strong suction and is a fraction of the price of brands such as Dyson. It's not necessarily light but not heavy, and relatively okay to maneuver but the only drawback is the wheel design as they are not the flexible for turning and sometimes require a bit of patience. We vacuum carpet floors of a two bedroom apartment and it does the job well.  Show details

Great for all floors – This is the 2nd Electrolux Ultraflex Vacuum Cleaner. We have bought 1 for my mom's house and this one is for my place. There are 5 levels of suction which are very strong and relatively quiet. It performs well on timber floor board, tiles and carpet. Good Powerful Vacuum Cleaner – Works well on both carpet and wooden flooring and I am really impressed with the powerful suction. Fairly good but need to stay on top of maintenance – Performs well across a range of surface types and ability to vary the suction power also helps not to tear up carpets and rugs. 3-in-1 tool is fairly poor quality though and often breaks, too flimsy and you can see it is a cheap component. Other than that it does and performs as you would expect for the price point. But you really do need to… Read more

Terrible – This vacuum cleaner is the worst one I have ever owned. Quite expensive approx $300 but after about 20 mins of use, it overheats and turns itself off.
