We went though Fairmont First which is Fairmont. The consultant at display home went above and beyond but I would not recommend this company for build. There is no way to speak with site manager and having to always go though a middle person. Have made many errors and even installed wrong air conditioning unit. Which now has made our house look… Read more
and feel like a second hand house and not our new home. Forever putting us under stress and not following what's in final plan that was put though to our bank. Not wanting to take fult for there mistake and i would not trust there docasign as they have now produced forms that were not signed by us. Making us Forever make contact with them as no communication. Trades leave mess, rubbish and screws everywhere. With us finding lots of alcohol cans left around our house also. I could go on. They say they are finishing build early then the year when so many other builders build quicker and communicate more with home owners. Meeting build standards I glad we had our own inspectors go check out each stage as lots of errors.
We selected Fairmont to build our forever home after viewing almost all of the main builders in Adelaide. We chose them because of their transparency and flexibility to modify the floor plan many times of 5 months, prior to signing up. Through this, we were able to create a bespoke design from one of their standard plans that has given us a… Read more · 1
remarkable home that we will enjoy for many years ahead. We used an inspector to verify quality of the build - some minor issues noted but were corrected when reported.

We had a fantastic experience working with Luke Townsend planning our build with Fairmont Homes. We went through eight versions of our draft plans, and Luke was always patient, helpful, and thorough. He took the time to explain every detail and made sure we were comfortable with each decision. What stood out most was his prompt and reliable… Read more
communication—nothing was ever too much trouble. He really made the custom build process feel more manageable and less overwhelming.
Highly recommend Luke if you're building with Fairmont and want someone who genuinely cares about the outcome.

Emerald dream home built by Fairmont! – Right from the start walking into a Fairmont display home and asking the sales consultant for help in building a home. payments or and questions we had regarding our build went above and beyond. Our tradies did an amazing job on our home. All tradies were friendly. Gary did our PCI walk through, he was very thorough, super friendly and spent the time with us explaining everything. The thought of walking through our home with only two weeks before we could move in we were in awe of our home. So many staff to thank.. Our 6 month maintenance review was done by Gary, he was very thorough. He went through our list of minor items that we needed looked at, and handled our list with professionalism. I highly recommend Fairmont for anyone looking for someone to build with. We are thrilled with the whole process and how our beautiful home has turned out.
EXCELLENT SERVICE & QUALITY! – This was my second build with Fairmont, and I could not be happier with the result! The process is so streamlined, and there is great communication every step of the way. My sales consultant Luke Townsend was so great and he helped me create a completely custom design to suit my needs. All the admin staff are lovely, and my site supervisor Mick… Read more · 1

Exceptional build quality! – I recently purchased a home from Fairmont Homes and I couldn't be happier with the experience. From the very start, the communication with the sales team was excellent. always available to answer any questions or address any concerns I had, and was very efficient in resolving any minor issues that arose. The quality of the home is outstanding, it exceeded my expectations. The finishes and fittings are of a higher standard than I had expected, and I am extremely pleased with the outcome.
I would highly recommend Fairmont Homes to anyone looking to build a new home. They truly exceeded my expectations and I am so grateful for the beautiful home they have built for my family.

Building with Fairmont Homes has been amazing! – From the sales consultation to hand over and now we're at the 6 month inspection, Fairmont Homes have been exceptional. We built a complete custom design, there was alot of back and forth emails with Ben, our sales consultant. painting and tiling. So far with post construction works its been a pleasant experience and we're happy with how our issues are being handled. Our final cost blew out a little bit but that was only due to our choices at selections, Fairmont have a great high quality range to choose from! We can't wait to turn our house into our home and we will definitely recommend Fairmont Homes to friends, family and even use them again for our future builds.

I will not build with this company again. They are unprofessional, overcharge, and irresponsible – I will not build with this company again. First, they will raise the price at will. They first quoted me in April 2022, and just two months later, they raised it by $10,000, saying that their costs had increased due to the impact of Covid and inflation. Second, their consultant is unprofessional and irresponsible. When I consulted about designing… Read more
the floor plan, their consultant told me that I could open a door on the side of the house, but it was later rejected by the council when I applied. This delayed my time and required a change in the plan. This was originally the consultant's mistake, but they charged me an extra $1,100 in administration fee. Third, they will not continue to complete the work that should be done after the handover. My house has been handover for more than 70 days, but the storm water is still not connected to the street. Every time I communicate with them, they only say to solve it as soon as possible, and then there is no more.
Would build again with Fairmont! – We have had a great experience with Fairmont homes, our site manager was amazing - Shout out to Aaron for being available when we needed him, responsive to communications. with any questions we had, to meet us at display homes early and was generally available to assist in way he could, Dave made the process seamless and was a pleasure to deal with he alone deserves 5 stars! Overall, the build of our 2 homes has been smooth, the process was explained to us, only thing I could fault was the communication after sales, for someone who has never built, I would have preferred more communication from the building coordinator - it wasn't a deal breaker but would have been nice instead of having to follow up things. Overall, I would 100% recommend Fairmont Homes to anyone looking to build - It was a positive experience.
Our original date for handover was August, but it was bought forward to May We had zero increases to our build price during this time frame
We would build with Fairmont homes again – We would build with Fairmont homes again. My partner and I took our time choosing a builder and decied to go with fairmonts becuase we thought their display homes matched our style, and they didnt seem to have small errors like cracks in cornice and joinery like other builders had (seemed like they cared a little more). of covid (signed Dec 2020) so we we’re exposed to some delays, but every build in the country was affected, what can you do?
Over the build any concerns we had we’re fixed by fairmonts, the quality was as we expeccted and they delivered the product as we wanted by the end of the build.
Some things we did have to chase up becuase we we’re eager to get things done as quick as possible.
We didnt have any major mistakes or errors during our build. we also had no price increases added to our build despite the huge supply costs increases during that period
We moved into our house in July 2023. we’ve been living here for 6 months and everything seems to be going great!

Top New Home Consultant – Our first point of contact to Fairmont was Luke Townsend and he was so good in his work. We have received genuine advice at every step. Poor quality of product used – Fairmont was good before the building process started. We built house with them in 2019. Tile roof installed by them has poor tile quality. As we had leaks in our roof. We hired roofing guy to get the roof checked. He told us that tiles used are faulty not good quality. I contacted fairmont but no one listens. Even when the construction was going on supervisor was not good. I will not build with again. Show details
Lack of communication – So, signed on and paid deposit over 2 years ago, still waiting for competition. I should have known from that point that things were not going to happen smooth. therefore missing out on thousands of dollars in grant. I found out that not long after signing on, the rep I was dealing with, left the company and things got missed and delayed. After almost 9 months our house was finally settled and finance was settled, but not before having to find extra money to cover the LMI. It was another 4 months before things happened on the block. I have only heard once from the building site manger and have had a few issues that I have already had to go back the company about. It that time, I have little to no communication, other than what I have instigated. I even got an email after complaining about the lack of communication that was a little hostile. Overall, it has not been a pleasant experience and still waiting for competition. In hindsight I should have gone with my other choice.
All seems fine.... Till construction. Detailed review – Started the process back in 10/2021. Sales consultant was awesome, switch on and accommodated any changes we made with the plan. will add we did have some issues with finance which prolonged this period, after securing that and doing our bank pack stuff. Off to construction we were sent. How exciting yeah? We thought so. Problems... After the slab got laid, we noticed we were missing our laundry drain (something we paid extra to have), nearly 7 months post slab, this has still not been fixed. Took 10 weeks till frame was put up. That's fine. But as it was going up, we noticed that our pantry doors(x2) and our internal garage doors did not line up(these doors are all in the same line and something we made sure that were on our master plans with measurements), brought this up while the carpenters were still on site but nothing was done. After weeks and weeks of emails, this issue was finally fixed. Mid September our windows/laundry doors were installed. Our alfresco doors were not, weird but they were custom made and we assumed they would wait till bricking was started. Now, current day. Bricks are 85-90% complete. They couldn't finish bricking due to the alfresco doors not being installed. We've made many enquiries about where these doors are and why the ordering for them has been left so late. ...... Nothing. No communication from our Building Support Coordinator. We understand that things are not going to be perfect, but the lack of communication (even with follow up from our end) has been appalling at best. We've also mentioned that our current PCI date(March 2024) is only 3 weeks before our lease ends. We've been assured even with this delay, that everything is on track for that date. If we were given an update on this date, we could go to our landlord and ask for an extension. If they change the date on us too late, we worry that our family of 4 will be potentially homeless. So please if you've made it this far and communication is something you're looking for, please reconsider another builder.

Would not build again – Almost a year ago at frame stage insulation batts were delivered to my slab without roof or weather protection one bag clearly ripped (photo and concern email sent to Fairmont and the reply assured me that no damaged product would be used). photo)via email to Fairmont who refused to resolve the issue advising it wasn’t mould. After assistance from consumer affairs this week (10 months later) saw removal and replacement of the damaged portion of the roof insulation. The photo uploaded shows how dirty and stained the insulation was prior to removal. The product used if in its new state is yellow appearance. The photo clearly shows the company allowed stained/weathered/dirty product to be installed to my new home and would have refused to rectify if OCBA had not assisted. Highly recommend using an Independent Building Inspector and Fairmont will charge you $550 admin fee to what they advise is costs to process the independent reports. In my experience, the company will at their discretion accept and rectify items listed by the independent report, it was an experience I would never take up again. This issue was not the only one, my independent inspector identified not up to code with wet areas with waterproofing which was not initially accepted by Fairmont it also took a call from OCBA to have this accepted and rectified. In my opinion from this experience, is that the $550 admin fee to use an independent is a cash cow income and I feel a divisive tool as a deterrent for clients not to engage one as 550 can be a lot to some people.
Great experience building with Fairmont – From start to finish the experience with Fairmont was easy. They provided good advice on layouts and need to haves in our design. Tradies were clean and efficient. Communications were on time and required little chasing. We understood delays were expected and we were kept informed. Aftercare experience was very positive, the building manager was very professional. If we build again we know where to go! Show details
Will our house ever be completed? - 2021 to 2024! – 2021 to 2024! We regret choosing a builder that won't give us a completion date. disappointed that our house sits empty for weeks again. Our friends, family, relatives, neighbours and work colleagues are in such disbelief that we are still not in our house. Adelaide is a small place and people talk. Fairmont have nearly all of our progress payments and we continue to pay rent. We WANT a completion date! Sadly, there is no complaints process with Fairmont and so I have to post a review for someone to take notice in the company.
Should’ve gone elsewhere – 6 months past practical completion. Never any updates “ delay after delay”. Past building consultant stated I’ve been pushed back for other people to get their handover. Past consultant stated they rely on other builders to complete some stages. Revolving door of building consultants but never get informed of the change. Told Fairmont that a large… Read more
number of birds are nesting in the roof due to eaves not being completed and bird droppings running down walls, response was “well it’s nesting season”. Then was told by building consultant that we were third in line to get eaves done but now new building consultant says that’s not the case Fairmont doesn’t prioritise builds, but yet builds in development areas that were started months after our build have been finished before our build even though we payed a premium for a rural build. It’s always “delay after delay”. Contract says completion is 120 days after slab poured for us this is definitely not true. I have been very patient and polite throughout however no one at Fairmont has given me accurate details or time frames they have just given me the standard miss information to keep me quiet. Very poorly managed as when I have enquired about stages they are either surprised that it hasn’t been done or clueless to what is going on. I 100% admit I have made a very big mistake by choosing Fairmont to build my forever home. As you readers are all aware paying rent and a mortgage for a home that is 6 months over completion date is very financially difficult so I advise to really look around at other builders. Building a forever home should be an exciting and happy time unfortunately for us it’s been horrible disheartening and financially devastating as paying rent and a mortgage for an home that’s still not completed.

Over Promise, Under Deliver, Very Slow, Poor Communication – We signed a contract to build with Fairmont in October 2021. It is now October 2023 and we are soon to have our 3rd Christmas in a rental property waiting for Fairmont to complete the build. 2023 completion - 1 Year From slab build time - Regular project updates - Regular communication - Site Manager
Actual result - April 2024 hand over with no commitment - 1.5 - 2 years from slab build time. Would have been longer if I didn't threaten to go with another builder. - Infrequent project updates. Very little communication without my constant emails to Fairmont. - Very poor communication. Fairmont usually will only communicate with me if I complain about progress of the build. - Haven't spoken with Site Manger once and have been advised not to. - Only allowed to engage with a back office person in construction team assigned to my build - Constant delays to build with inconsistent reasoning provided for the delays - long delays between build stages (3-4 months in some cases) - Have to push Fairmont constantly for updates and to move project forward - Every other build is proceeding faster than our build - Another Fairmont house close by started about 6 months ago and is nearly finished. Whereas, our house is far from finished. - No flexibility to make changes once construction starts. However, Fairmont can make changes and expect prompt approval from the customer. - Partially completed construction stages with Fairmont pushing for payment. If I delay, Fairmont advises that interest charges will apply - Attempts to cancel the contract at various stages (1st deposit, 2nd deposit and pre slab) were met with someone from Fairmont assuring us that the build would move quickly and be delivered on time. - Fairmont does not care about our build as demonstrated by their handling of this project
Recommendation - Don't build with Fairmont unless you are happy with a 2-3 year process and very little communication - Don't trust the build time estimate from the salesperson - Find a private builder with good reputation and many successful references from their customers
In summary, the start of the Fairmont build process was very promising and came with a one year from slab completion promise. However, as we have proceeded through the process it has been quite disappointing and stressful due to the delays, lack of communication, poor project visibility and clear evidence that we are not a priority for Fairmont.
We are incurring additional costs in our rental which will likely accumulate to $30,000 by the time we are able to move into the house that Fairmont is building. Fairmont have demonstrated that our concerns about the delays and justification for prioritisation are irrelevant and will not speed up the build process.
Overall advice to other people considering building is to skip Fairmont and consider going with a reputable private builder who can complete your build within a year, provide better customer service and project visibility.

Completely regret choosing Fairmont – I signed up with Fairmont in Feb 2022. At the time I was told 14 months from that point to moving in. 2023 given. Since then it has been delay after delay after delay. My handover date was meant to be in 1 month and there is still no roof and I had been requesting a revised handover date a number of times. I have finally been told that it will be 30 weeks from roof completion to handover, taking my move in date to at least Feb 2024.
Fairmont will say it’s because of industry wide delays, flow on effects from grants from 3-4 years ago, supply delays and weather issues. However, there are many other builders progressing a lot faster so it seems it is more an issue with Fairmont. My site supervisor admitted that Fairmont have taken on a high number of builds which is why there are delays, he also seems very stretched with what he was trying to manage. External contractors who have been approached for quotes on other areas are also saying that Fairmont is very slow at completing builds compared to other builders as well.
The communication has been terrible, there has been a complete lack of honesty, transparency or recognition that are failing. I have had to constantly chase for updates, dates passing by for the next stage to happen with me then having to chase them again. They has been no care factor for the additional costs to the people because of these delays or the stress they have caused. When initially told my house was going to be delayed until 2024, I received an abrupt email that didn't even contain any form of consideration for the delivery of that information nor an apology. I have tried to raise these issues with their management and emails are ignored and calls unreturned. I was even told by my building support officer that I have chosen a ‘volume builder’ so should have expected significant delays!!!
Overall, I regret choosing Fairmont to build my first home and do not recommend.

telephone calls with management! they said they would waver this out of goodwill???? The slab was finally poured in September 2022 then it took 5 months for the septic to be installed? I was continually advised the delay was because the contractor was behind in his work due to hitting rock at other sites and nothing else could move ahead with the build until the septic was in? not sure why this is? finally in February 2023 it was installed. April 2023 the frame was erected? June the windows and gutters got installed. the colourbond roof has been laying on the floor for 4 weeks now and I have been advised they are hoping to have it done by next week weather permitting? if they didnt keep delaying the build it would of been done in summer not winter like it is now? I have also just been told by the site supervisor once the roof is installed it will take at least 8 weeks to get a brickie on site.So they will update me on the completion date once the roof is on but it looks like maybe sometime in December? their is no care factor from any of them that I will be homeless and had to already extended my rental lease for 12 months but cant extend it any further due to the owner wanting to sell. it gets better, Now they have asked me to sign a variation and pay an extra $800 for the septic tank install due to 15% builder margins and an application fee to council? surely the council approved this when the original plans were approved? I hope they are not going to try and make me sign a variation and a price increase everytime they install something at every stage? I signed a fix contract and will not pay another cent! The contracts are written very well to protect Fairmont but nothing protects the buyer! Wouldnt advise to build with Fairmont to anyone! 2 years and only at frame stage???? I just hope they build my house soon!
Just been advised my house wont be complete until the end of January 2024??? Finally got handover March 24, The flooring all needed to be pulled up due to p*ss poor preparation, after doing practical completion walk through I was advised the things we noted on site inspection would be fixed prior to handover, I have now waited 8 weeks and nothing has been done! Fairmont or the site supervisor will not respond to me? Dont pay your final payment until you are completely happy with the final product because once you have paid them they wont help?
Now been in 5 months and Fairmont still havnt completed things that where supposed to be completed before handover? I have sent multiple emails advising this and the response was "they are very busy" I now have a list of at least 40 things that need to be attended to and have no idea when they will be fixed!!!

Update on build – While acknowledging earlier issues and an overall journey of just under three years (build time of 16 months), the trades we’ve seen during the later stages of build (also special call out to our site supervisor - both for granting access to enable retaining wall and fencing work during the build - and during our recent walkthrough), have delivered on Fairmont’s promise of a quality build at a value price. comparison and if we knew that this time around would be so difficult we would have stayed away. Even our other builds with a ‘cheaper builder’ were more positive and professional than this.
Received keys today with our kids now unable to have a shower due to caulking not complete around the whole shower. Butlers pantry also not completed. Beading around floors sticking out from wall, beading nail holes visible when documented that they be painted. House, floors and carpets dirty/paint marks due to so many trades entering between defect period to finish works that should have been completed prior to PCI. Were called for a PCI appointment with 10+ items outstanding (including electrical not installed) and when queried how we are meant to see defects and a completed house with no lights, were told it was normal practice.
PCI appointment was also booked for the same time as a client building next door - did they expect us all to wait whilst one site supervisor completed two appointments? Have also spoken to these people who received hand over same day and they have built in robes not complete, as well as other items missing. How is this OK Fairmont Homes?
We stressed the period between PCI and handover was for us to identify small defects not for Fairmont Homes to undertake significant tasks that we would then need to possibly have rectified again.
Very quick and responsive when it comes to their invoicing and final payment, yet have received no communication from supervisor throughout the whole build. When tried to contact for the first time around stage of PCI, they simply ignored and still can not reach to date.
When it comes to the build several of the contractors have done fantastic work but it seems to be luck of the draw as there isnt consistency across the board with this builder. Have seen social media pages where waterproofing was done to an excellent standard whilst ours only just met the minimal requirements. Fairmont Homes also needs to stop using the excuse of Covid-19 and timber shortages/political affairs as the facade for their slow build times - all other builders in the neighbourhood have completed months ago when we started earlier. If you cannot build in a reasonable timeframe do not take on more builds, or better yet, employ more site supervisors who have time to give a s*^t about the construction stages and who can call up trades in a logical sequence.
As customers paying hundreds and thousands of dollars for property, we also have a right to ask questions throughout the build (in fact Fairmont Homes encourage this in all their formal correspondence) however in the few times we did email, responses from our main construction liaison contact were rude and blunt.
We now sit here wondering whether Fairmont Homes will actually ever finish our house like they promised and whether the imaginary site supervisor will answer our queries to rectify these problems?
Never.Again.

There is obviously a reason your footings blew out to $44,000. Fairmonts footing allowance for our home was spot on and $10,000 cheaper than another popular project builder. After 2 builds, both times our footing allowance was correct, build was completed within 12 months of signing the contract, no hidden nasties, or price blow outs. Both times spent only around $2000 extra on variations/upgrades. For a project builder i think their prices for upgrades etc.. is quite reasonable. Cheaper than other builders. Sales guy we had was great as always, our own house plan again. Communication from head office could be improved but they were better this time round. Some people obviously have never built before, and have very high expectations. If you want a Scott Salisbury house, then pay for it! But i guarantee you the quality of the build wont be any better(as they all use the same tradies anyway), only the quality of the fixtures and fittings for the inflated price you are paying. NO,i do not work for Fairmont and i have not been paid for this review. This build was completed pre covid so I can't comment on recent builds. It appears there are very long wait times at present and due to a trade shortage too perhaps quality has slipped a bit too. They are heavily advertising at the moment on TV and the radio which I find a bit concerning. Why take on more builds when you don't seem to appear to be able to cope with the current projects you have taken on. I'd just try and be as thorough as you can doing your homework beforehand. But I've heard of similar blow out times with more high end builders also.
