The only gripe I have is that the stainless steel dents and scratches very easily, also marks very easily ie. finger prints all around the handles. Would not recommend putting magnets on the fridge. Also, if anything falls out of the fridge it will ding the top of the freezer. Or if your… Read more
kid accidentally pushes his walker or toy car into the fridge expect a new dent every time. Have always been loyal to F&P but I would probably try another brand next time as the dents do bother me.
Great Fridge – All in all this is a great fridge, spacious, well thought through, even temperature and I think is a very stylish design. The fridge is relatively quiet, and we have owned this for 3 years with no problems. The water filler is great, as it does not take up any fridge space unlike most other fridge designs. The ice maker and scoop is also a really… Read more
well designed and reliable functioning feature.
The only negative is the drawer runners, which seem to get stiff and seize up before fully extending. Apart from this minor issue its a great fridge
Water leak from filter holder – This new F&P fridge was purchased from Harvey Normal in June 2020 and installed by my plumber. After two weeks I noticed water leaking into my kitchen cupboards. I called my plumber who re-made and checked the hose to mains connections. Again water leaked into my cupboards! To avoid damage to my new kitchen cupboards I chose to keep the water… Read more
turned off and use the fridge as a non-plumbed unit. This week (Jan 2024) I met my plumber on a different matter and together we decided to take one last look at the problem and then he noticed that the water leak was actually coming from the F&P water filter unit, not from any plumbing connections. This has been the fault from Day 1.............but course F&P just say "out of warranty". I cannot recommend F&P customer care, they just don't care.

Great fridge space, poor electrical design – We had this fridge for 6 years with no issues and were happy with the space in the fridge and it's features. However, over the past 18 months we have had endless issues with an f20 fault which is the a wiring issue in the top of the door joints. We had it repaired once but not long after the fault reappeared. We checked the wiring in both doors… Read more
and could not find any broken wires to repair. After a while the light would come on and off and noticed the fridge temperature being not as cold as it should have been. At times an F30 fault would appear. Again we called a repair man who told us that the motherboard needed replacing along with a couple of other parts. A call to Fisher and Paykel was a waste of time - after a lot of questions they said that as it was no longer under warranty they would not help. We expected that a fridge that cost $3000+ we hoped to get at least 10 years out of it and are very disappointed in Fisher and Paykel's build quality and lack of service for what is obviously a design fault.
Very fancy looking :) – I love my new fridge & freezer. It's wide enough to fit the longer dishes which is helpful. It looks really big but isn't that deep which has a up side, you can always see what is in the fridge. I hate the deep ones cause I used to have food go off all the time cause I couldn't see it. Love the water dispenser, your not limited to the jug size.… Read more
We found that when "change filter" sign came up the water did slow down but once the filter was changed it went back to it's normal self. Check out the filters on ebay they are alot cheaper. The freezer is ok, you could store a fair amount of stuff in there but might get a bit lost. We have an outside fridge so I only have to store everyday things in there. The icemaker is great!!! Yes you have to open the freezer to get the ice however how often do you really use ice. It's also handy removing the ice tray so the freezer will fill up the larger box, so when summer or party time comes around you have heaps of ice on hand all the time :)
We did look around cause at first I through the French Door fridge were pretty poor (you have to open both doors to open the drawers) but comparing prices, size and how we really use it, I'm really happy with it!!! It's really easy to see what is in the whole fridge The bottom draw of the freezer isn't the best - but can't please everyones needs
Good but far from perfect – On the outside this fridge looks huge. The fridge part has adequate space, however the freezer is tiny! In addition to hat, it is split into 2 sections which further limits the useful space. One redeeming feature of the freezer is perfect temperature by default. Ice cream is always frozen but still easy to scoop. The ice bin is also handy, but… Read more
after about a week, the ice will stick together and becomes difficult to remove.
The fridge doors have plenty of useable space with adjustable shelving. The bottle rack is also a very handy feature. There is a very glaring design flaw with the the 2 drawers at the bottom of the fridge, in that you need to open both doors to open the drawers. Splitting them vertically would've been much smarter.
One other design fault concerns the locking clips on the doors. If closing the door while something is blocking the door from shutting, they will break with very little effort.
One other note for our freezer, the drawer feels very hard to slide, as if there is something stuck in the drawer slides.
Overall happy with the product, but it could be better. large fridge storage, filtered water tap, ice maker, looks good Freezer too small, freezer drawer feels cheap, fridge drawers need both doors to be open

Great features but don't expect it to last forever – Purchased as a factory second in October 2008. Functions really well and has plenty of space for everything. Easy to clean. No problems as such but now in early 2018 stopped making ice with error code F24 and constant beeping. I've just paid $253 to fix, not replace, a broken wire, which apparently very common with this fridge. Note - we… Read more
only connected to water 6 years ago.
The technician says the motor is noisy and if anything breaks down not to fix it as it will cost too much. They're not made to last and I'm lucky, apparently, that it's lasted for 10 years.
** I still have my 29 year old Hoover/Admiral fridge which has never skipped a beat!
Love it - best fridge I've owned! – Love this French door fridge / freezer with water and ice maker! It is spacious, easy to clean, quiet & looks great. I initially bought it over others because the ice maker was unobtrusive compared to others at the time (2007). Also I've owned 4 fridges over 35 years and this is the best of all!! Everything about the RF610A has worked perfectly… Read more
from day one and is still going strong after more than 9 years. I'm impressed with the service from F&P. Only one service call when the fridge was 9 yrs old to repair a broken wire which stopped the ice maker - F&P were prompt and fixed the issues with minimal fuss and cost. What i love best about this F&P RF610a is that it keeps food beautifully fresh and food lasts a very good length of time.
Mostly good – I have had this fridge for nearly 3 years. I love the look and size of the fridge, I love the water and ice feature, the only thing I don't like is the freezer drawers. If anything drops out of the fridge onto the top of the freezer drawer it dents. I have about 3 dents in the top of the drawer. Although Choice recommended this fridge I did… Read more
purchase the extended warranty because there were quite a few bad reviews here. Water, Ice, French Doors, Depth of Fridge - so many are so deep they take up too much room. Design of the freezer drawers and the wine rack isn't strong enough for 4 bottles of wine. They fall down the back of the fridge.

Avoid at all cost – Absolute pile of rubbish, didn’t last eighteen months before the dreaded F20 fault appeared. It returns to haunt me every twelve months or so, we got it in 2011 so that’s a lot of faults for the same problem. I would expect better from a $2599 fridge. Should have bought another Electrolux, as the one I have that is now my second fridge that the… Read more
pile of rubbish F&P replaced still works fine, never had an issue and I bought it in 2000 and it cost half as much.
I will never buy Fisher and Paykel again, they don’t deserve any more of my money.
Hope this helps if you are thinking of buying a F& P 610 French door fridge.
Love fridge but loads of problems! – I love the fridge, great size, easy to clean, good design.. but since the start we've had issues! Not long after we got it the door locks snapped off.. still usable so not a huge issue. Then after a few years the freezer drawer tracks have rusted (technician said they've never seen this before and suggested we get it replaced under warranty!) F&P… Read more
wouldn't relace and shifted me off to extended warranty team, who told me it was F&Ps issue.. no one has fixed and got the run around! The freezer completely defrosted. Technician couldn't find the problem but because it was turned off it magically worked again and now (right before going away for a few months) started leaking water from behind the freezer! The extended warranty has run out now but fridge is only just 7yrs old! Not happy.
Not a good fridge. Never buy one again – Fixed under warranty 3 times within 2 years. then another 2 times after that .door hinge wiring...shocking design. F17 fault continues intermittently. 3 years later same fault. Would not get one again. Now freezer icing up. Not sure what sort of fault that is. Bottom freezer really is not a good design. We will buy side by side only now Show details

Good fridge for 3 years till multiple issues. Service is disgraceful – Bought Sept 12. Had 3 different problems between Feb 16 and May16 (out of warranty). F&P only book service online, and with first available booking almost a week away, I used a local AHA licensed technician who could be there the same day. First issue (earth leakage caused by defrost heater) cost $260, second "mullion heater" cost $245, and was… Read more
quoted $300 for the latest issue (faulty wire inside fridge door).
Called F&P complaining that a fridge less than 4 years old should not have repair costs in the vicinity of 1/3 of the purchase price. F&P were completely unwilling to help because we hadn't used their technician for the other problems. Only offered to send out their technician (min cost $135) to assess the fridge to see if something could be done.
The local technician we used to be a F&P approved repairer, but F&P changed their repairs to a franchise system, and the technician did not take up the franchise (apparently nobody local did because the F&P service person is an employee of F&P, not a business/franchise). I consider the requirement that you only use their own technicians unconscionable, particularly when you call on a Friday and can't get a technician until the following Thursday.
Still unresolved.

Bad customer services, fridge retired after less than 5 yrs of used – Fridge has a good decent size for big family but don't expect it to last long after reading thru all the reviews. 4.9 years and broke two days ago. Call up the F&P support they ask plenty of questions and in the end told me that the are no technician available from their system to booking and asked me to try call other repairer in your area… Read more

Found a repair man and he had a look at it and it was probably a leak somewhere and noticed some corrosion.
Will cost about $400 - $500 to filled up and more to open up to find the exact location of the leak.
Broke down as soon as warranty expired - terrible response time from F&P – Spent $3,000 plus on this fridge thinking it may last 5 - 10 yrs. It just broke down last week - just outside the warranty period (2YRS). Electrician said possibly motor gone. F&P service people cant get to it for a week - big inconvenience with daily food prep. Already had once serviced under warranty within days of installation. Lets see what they can do now.
Worked for a while – We've had the fridge for about 7-8 years. Has been fixed once within the warranty period. A fortnight ago stopped working. Called for F&P to check. Told repairs would cost $750-$850 - gas leak. Thanks, but no thanks. Will go back to my 16-year-old Westinghouse fridge. We had a good run I guess.
Complete rubbish with bad service – Both bottom plastic door closers broke off. Ice maker malfunctioned twice. Door wiring on both sides replaced and now getting f20 error message appearing again. Whoever did the industrial design on the door wiring components needs to think again. We purchased this expecting a quality product, the reality however was far from it. By the sound of… Read more
what many other owners are discussing, the realiability of this product is poor. I could not recommend this product to my worst enemy.
Don't get the water option – In my ignorance at the store I said yes to the water option. I was unaware that the filters need to be changed every six months and they cost a small fortune. Very opportunistic move F&P. This combined with our dodgey condenser dryer - I'm starting to be a little underwhelmed by what has been in the past, above average products.
Full of problems – In last 7 years the icemaker needed repair thrice and again not working. Ice becomes lumpy. Once the handles came off. Otherwise the space is quite good with ample trays and baskets. I read other reviews stating ice maker has consistent problem with lot of people. Costly to maintain this fridge due to repeated service requirements.
Generally Ok – We found this fridge pricey but performance was okay. Some nice features such as cooling a bottle of wine quickly was handy. We did have intermittent issues with the unit continuously bleeping when you opened the door and even the F&P service folks were a little dumbfounded. Be careful of the closing hooks that sit below the doors - they break… Read more
after about three years and then the door does not close properly. You pay $140 for call out fee and parts to get the issue rectified. However online booking for service was a plus for me as it was easy and you were not put on hold and did not bounce around from people to people.
Stay away from this fridge model – Got a 6 year old fridge, been having problems from day one. Started with loud motor in the first year. Some minor repair was made to solve problem. But once warranty run out other problems started. Water running out from freezer on regular basis due to reccurent pipe blockage. Thats _$ 150 per technician visit. I hate this fridge – Worst Fridge I have had the misfortune to ever own. Water never cold and ice never freezes. I was told by the tech that I had the freezer to cold for the ice to freeze but any lower and the ice cream melts. I buy ice and tip it into the tray. Fridge is on 18 months old and I hate it!! worst fridge ever – I hate this fridge. Picked it cos it was pretty but the water was never cold and the handles rediculously sharp if you hit them. Now, after 5 years, its stopped working. Was told today by the tech that there is a gas leak and it is going to cost me over $600 to have it taken away and fixed. To say I regret buying this is a massive understatement.… Read more
Its only just out of warranty - its like they plan it to only last 5 years!! I've had a second fridge, an old westinghouse, for over 15 years and it works perfectly still. Totally unacceptable $600!!!!!! ???? Pretty didnt work very long before breaking down, water trickles out of the filter and isnt cold.

Fed Up!! – This fridge has broken down seven times in three years. All breakdowns relate to wiring issues and the wiring looms in both doors have been fully replaced at least once. When the fridge is working, I can't fault it, however it is unreliable to the extreme. I last had it repaired on 16 Oct 13 and you guessed it, it has since broken down yet… Read more
again with the same issue - the repair didn't even last 13 days. Words cannot describe how frustrated I am at the moment. F&P are refusing to replace the fridge - in a letter from them they state that they would only consider replacing it if the problem was major or ongoing ... Luckily for me, Harvey Norman have stepped up to the plate and have offered me the choice of new fridges. I have chosen an LG :) Internal layout, the fact that the water chiller and the ice maker do not consume door space Extensive wiring issues, customer service from F & P

Don't fall for the look – Yes it's a pretty refrigerator but that's it's only selling point. My fridge is only two years old and I have today given up and bought a new fridge from another company. I will never buy a Fisher and Paykel product again. The visiting technicians take none of my concerns seriously with my complaints being met with guffaws! It's always my fault -… Read more
you didn't close the door properly(leaking), you didn't change the filter often enough (the water trickle from the water dispenser), you've got the fridge up to high/low (freezing of veg and going off of dairy). Parts keep falling off the doors, the ice maker broke down and was fixed by a bit of tape. Oh because that part sometimes doesn't work well and we tweak it with a bit of plastic tape. Seriously. My kitchen cupboards are now damaged by water so I am shipping it off to the holiday house where I will have to put it in the shed with a concrete floor so I don't have to replace the timber floor inside! Buyer beware. It's pretty Everything else
An expensive lemon – I love everything about this fridge in principal, but it just hasn't delivered. I have had the ice maker replaced 2 or 3 times, the freezer drawers have locked up on me, it just stopped working once and had to go back to the factory. In fact, I'm so glad that I paid the extra for the extended warranty, or else I would be $2000 poorer and have no… Read more
fridge at all right now. Now the handle is coming off and I have another error message which means another call to F & P, waiting a day for a response from the technicians company and then finding out when they can fit me in for repairs next week. This is the most expensive fridge I have ever owned and it has been the most regrettable. The technician knows me by name now as he's been here approx 6 times in 3 years. F & P's service is slow and has too much red tape. I will never buy another F&P product again. Give me a trusted Westinghouse any day. The idea. It's a lemon that breaks down reliably every 6 months.
Great fridge except for the fault with the door locking mechinism – I had problems with the plastic hinges that hold the door shut. We have replaced 3 times now in 6 years. Also don't try and fix yourself (Cheap part) because the computer will need to be reset by a technician. Other then that it is reliable. Also the water dispenser is not that cold, it is only at the temperature of the fridge if the water is… Read more
stored long enough in the fridge. The top of the freezer also dents. It is wells set out fridge that never seems to be full considering we have a family of 5. Plastic hinges, temeperature of water.

Not as happy as expected – Cheap plastic door hinges broke within the year. Now there is a leek from the ice bucket I think?? Expensive and not all that reliable. If you were considering this fridge, then think again and do some research into a much more reliable fridge for the money you are paying. The overall look is nice but a disappointing item that I regret buying.… Read more

Fisher & Paykel - You should be ashamed – Fridge has worked excellently unless it has broken down. At least 5 callouts in the first 2 years. Wiring in door was not installed properly. Took to the 3rd callout to Replace the wiring. Plastic Clips on doors have broken Numerous times. Luckily we took out an extended warranty. this purchase. We certainly will not ever purchase a F&P product again. Contacted F&P several times in Brisbane and they were very uninterested in our problems. Ease of access, Great Ice Maker and water cooler. Plenty of room on shelves and internal doors. Clips on french doors have broken several times - each requiring a call out. Wiring was faulty from the start. Took several callouts (which each took up to a week to actually turn up to diagnose and rectify) to solve that problem.
I wonder if the change in quality has got anything to do with the fact that they are now made in… Read more (+1 reply)
Unreliable – Plastic door hinge locks break easily, ice machine broke down just outside of warranty. Very thirsty on electricity. For the proce of this fridge you would expect more than cheep plastic hinge parts (very dodgy) I will try to sell this fridge and go for a more reliable, cheeper to run version. Ice makers are a gimick that are not worth thr trouble Looks good Poor quality control

Great fridge for the family – This fridge has been in our household for 4 months now and it is fabulous.
