wife, and our private inspector. His comment was he couldn’t find anything wrong that was major and it is quite rare for a builder to have a quality build. He has worked on our previous inspections on the different stages of the build and he is thorough. The fact that he was happy on how the build turned out made us absolutely excited on our new home after that inspection. We can’t wait to build happy memories in our home once we move in. helpful. There was a little bit of confusion during the Build that was probably my fault but got resolved quickly and without any dramas.
The quality of the trades was second to none. And I mean seriously good. All Aussie trades. Clearly enjoyed there jobs.
The carpentry was amazing my frame was stuck built and all my jams were 45mm and he didn’t miss a beat! The Concreters were amazing the house slab was square and flat with almost zero frame and brick overlay.
The bricklayers were amazing to the point we didn’t need a bric cleaner. (Got one anyway)
The kitchen guys were sensational. Eazy-Crete polished my concrete floors and they did a sensational job. We got them back to do our driveway and our swimming pool.. mystic was sick to deal with the did a mad job.
The tiler needs to goto spec savers but I’ll let it pass as I kind of like his weird tiling. And the over all experience was good.
Will definitely build again.

House Build Experience Assessment – Currently in the building process of a single storey dwelling with single garage where I did an in detail assessment about the process from the Start to end of Lock-Up Stage. Consultation (Dominic): The consultation was well-organised starting off with Dominic, with good communication skills, translating the process to the client in a simplified manner and allowing client to understand different information. Dominic provided recommendations of lands available on the market following client's criteria and budget. Client was made aware of any fees implied for various alternations and additions to their original plan package.
2. Contracting (Dominic): The process of contracts was fairly fast and understandable with a few details missing which later on went against the client's requests (Requests that were originally accepted prior contract). Deposit on contract was listed as $1500 but later requested to be $3000, not a big issue since most other builders request a larger deposit (the smaller deposit allowed the client to get a better mortgage rate which was helpful financially)
2. Drafting (Dominic & Daniel): Frenken was quite flexible with alterations of the existing internal layout of the house, assisted by Dominic, the client was able to transform an existing plan into their 'home'. However, then drafting alterations took approximately 3 months from the day it was finalised which delayed the start of the construction. Keeping in mind, it was during the period of high demand for house builds and during Covid-19 pandemic. Communication was and still is exceptional with fast responses from Dominic, Daniel and Sharon (took usually about 30 mins each time). Daniel took over the consultation from pre-design stage where there was a lot of back and forth on different alterations, a great effort to satisfy the client's requirements.
3. Variations (Dominic & Daniel): The client had a lot of variations which most were satisfied and others not due to Frenken's policies. Most major issue was the request for black bricks which was accepted prior contract agreement and denied on colour selection day (it involved discussions between client, consultants and managements of Frenken to resolve the issue but resulted in rejection to allow black bricks, even at variation cost). Alternative Solution for other clients with same issue; Ecotone Coatings previously known as NawKaw which provided bricks staining solutions.
4. Colour Selection (Ally): Ally was very welcoming and informative during the meeting and offered visual references to help the client understand different colours to match the atmosphere desired. The available range for colour sections was a bit limited but offered a decent range for some components. Drawbacks: Client had to attend a second appointment as the previous colour selection sheet was lost possibly due to drafting delays, 1st meeting 12th December/ 2nd meeting March. Review of colour selection range: - Wall Colour: Decent Range available - Flooring: Tiles/Decent Range available, Laminated Timber/Great Range available, Carpet/Good Range available - Switches: Limited Range available but customisable after installation which is amazing (Brand: Clipsal). - Benchtop: Limited Range available if Stone & Great range available if Melamine. - Fittings and Fixtures (Cabinets, Vanity, etc....): Great Range of colours available. - Bricks: Good Range but limited colours. - External Components (Fascias, DP, Gutters, Windows and Doors): Great Range of colours available. - Render: Decent Range of Colours available. - Roofing: Good Range of roofing tiles and colours available. - Garage: Good Range of roofing tiles and colours available. - Driveway: Was not included in client's package.
Building Permit: The building permit took only about 1-2 weeks to obtain which was very fast at the request of client to accelerate process. Official Build Start Date 30/04/2021.
Base Stage: The base stage went smoothly with all processes being completed 28/05/2021. Further information will be added upon Handover.
Frame Stage: The framing was unfortunately delayed by one month due to supply shortage, not builder's fault. However, it started on 01/06/2021 and completed within 1 week. Overall quality and workmanship was good.
Lock-Up Stage: This stage started 08/07/2021 and completed 11/08/2021, everything went fast and smoothly despite the comeback of Covid-19 lockdown.
Overall Rating: Considering the contract price for the size of the project, the overall result so far is decent, currently in Fixing Stage, plasterboard job throughout the house was done fast taking only one day but quality looked a bit poor with rough edges and some parts with large gaps. The review is based on my personal experience as an architectural practitioner and may not reflect a typical client's perspective and understanding. The final overall rating is 8/10 so far.

Therefore no hot water and no heating. This is kind of a harrosment who ever can done during a cold season.cant walk on the floor with bare foot or with slippers as the floor tiles not layer evenly. Can't even move or slide goods as the tile edges stop you from that halfway the job done. Not even a reply for the Emails sent. Also when dealing with THE CONSTRUCTION DEPARTMENT please be aware that, this person doesn't even bother to read the emails properly, just reply for the sake of doing it. It's like you ask some information regarding something and getting the reply for question you never asked for. Very irresponsible person.very poor in time management. House was finished beautifully, and the quality of products and appliances used is fantastic. I would like to thank Guy and the whole team of Franken homes for doing such a fantastic job. floor plan of our build work best for us. Finishes on the joinery and doors were done well. Overall we are happy with the efficiency and work of all trades on the build. Any concerns or issues we had during the build were promptly addressed and we were kept up to date on the progress of those issues as they were being rectified. Our final cost compared to the estimate saw us have to make significant sacrifices on the build in order to be able to reach settlement as there were unforeseen site costs and price rises on some of our upgraded choices however we also note that due to developer delay the price increase on the upgrades is understandable and are grateful that the company were able to work so well with us to honour as much of our original contract pricing as possible which we greatly appreciated.

2.5 stars-only care till you paying for construction – 2.5 stars - only care as long as you're paying for build. All was well until I submitted defects report. 7 months and still waiting. Also,the gutter ruster within 6 months and when raised was told nothing they can do and used all the excuses. We had a lot of freedom while choosing a floor plan and there is a huge selection for the colours. Any concerns we had during the build were easily answered by the Frenken Homes office. been very understanding and I would have no hesitation to recommend him and Frenken's lovely designs to friends and if I can ever build my house I will definitely be building with Frenken. I've built a few house over the years and I'm aware of how builders often squeeze a bit extra out of people. Never did Matt try to lie to me or try to take advantage. Bad Quality – We built our home through Frenken about 18 months ago. It was sold through 'Quality house and land" Unfortunately quality is the word that needs to be removed from the sales company's name. throughout with drips and runs all over internal doors. All of the internal doors don't close properly either. ( They have been painted while leaning against the walls so they have all bowed!! ) The tiling and grouting is extremely bad with tiles so uneven on the floors that we had to put adjustable feet on some of the furniture to stop it from rocking. We didn't even get a towel rack in the ensuite. They supplied a hand towel hook only. We were told that's all that they supplied in ensuites, when actually they screwed up and didn't allow the space for one, So now we have to remember to take a towel to the shower, like living in a hostel. On inspection before the takeover, the house was filled with blue tape for fixups. And most of it was not rectified at all, the tape was simply removed. The place was not even clean when we got the keys, there was still grout all over the tiles and dirt and dust throughout, including all through the kitchen drawers and cupboards. As well as leaking pipes in the kitchen and laundry, That were not tightened properly. We found piles of rubbish/bricks/concrete/roof tiles and steel buried under the soil when landscaping. Instead of removing all the rubbish and clearing the site, they just buried it all. We made complaints and a 2-page list of problems, Most of which was ignored, BUT 8 months later a handy man arrived to do some "fix-ups". Which was just a waste of our time. Nothing has been fixed properly and I have had to fix what I can myself since then. They said they would have some of the tiles replaced but that never happened either. Overall the experience was so disappointing that we didn't even celebrate with a housewarming party. It was very hard to be excited about what we received. And its really put us off wanting to build again with any company. I understand that these guys are at the lower-end price-wise, but does that mean that we have to accept bad quality because its cheaper? Not in my books... I hope this review helps anyone that may be considering building with this company. Save a bit more money and go with a company that genuinely cares and has a higher standard when it comes to service and quality.
