Excessive delivery charges and misrepresentation – We had a terrible experience with the delivery of a lounge suite purchased from Furniture Bazaar. At the time of purchase, we were told that the delivery charge would be $100, which we paid. We advised the store prior to purchasing that they would have to deliver the lounge through the back entrance of the house. They stated that as there were… Read more

no stairs involved it would not be an issue to deliver through the back. However, when the delivery men arrived they would not deliver the lounge, as they said they were not strong enough to carry it around the back. The store would have known the weight of the lounge and should have sent delivery men capable of delivering the lounge.

We were then advised that we would have to pay another $350-00 to have the lounge re-delivered by four men. When they arrived the second time there were only three men, even though we had been told that the price charged was based on a need for four delivery men. They said that this time they brought a “strong man”. Once the lounge was in the house they advised that it would be very difficult for us to put the feet on the lounge (even though the store representative had told us at the time of purchase that this would be easy and no tools would need to be used). The delivery men charged an additional $110 to attach the feet, which required use of a drill. The Furniture Bazaar Manager subsequently refunded us $100 for fitting the feet.

Overall, delivery of the lounge has cost $460-00, over four times the $100 represented at the time of purchase.

I intend to contact Consumer Protection to report these excessive charges and the misrepresentation of the delivery charge at the time of purchase.

Rude behaviour of CS rep – Had a bad CS experience at this store today. Went in with wife and kids to buy a modular lounge. Saw a 3 seater black colour for $1600. Worst Furniture Company – We had our wooden flooring scratched (a sharp object had protruded out from the inside of the couch) because their incompetent delivery men didn't know how to unpacked the furniture properly and also, when I made a complaint, they mentioned that the protruding sharp object is nothing unusual and happens quite often. Excellent Customer Service – We had ordered wrong products that had to be made and the next day after ordering we had to change the order and they went above and beyond to accommodate us with the new order. Jimmy and the team are always so helpful. Thanks a million!!

Bonded Leather Lounge Suite – Don't buy from Furniture Bazaar. Bought a bonded leather lounge suite from them less than three years ago and its already peeling off. They won't replace it but offered 40% off a new one. A lounge suite should last at least 10 years.
