Please tell me can this product be used in a septic toilet?
Sorry I am unable to advise on this or any other application that the product can be used for as the bottles that we have we are unable to open due to poor design. Good luck!!!!! I note that these comments are monitored by HARPIC Representatives and it is a shame that they do not make changes to the product lid after all the complaints made about not being able to open them !!!!
Could you tell me if Harpic white and shine ultimate bleach power can be used in a septic toilet system. I could not find it written on the bottle.
Sorry do not know as I can’t even open it !!!!!
Cannot open. Had to wait for husband to come home and use multigrips. Hope elderly have multigrips and can use them! What happened to quality control?
I used pliers in the end and it worked!
I also couldn't get the cap to open. Eventually sawed the top off. Won't be buying this product again (Margie)
How do I get the lids off with rheumatoid arthritis
Is Harpic BLEACH for toilets safe to use with septic tank, leach drains, I can’t find any advice on the bottle. Thank you
I would like to know how many other people have had am expensive plumbing bill due to the flushable wipes. First time I've used them and it's blocked my toilet! I've tried plunging, draino and now the plumber which is a few $$$. Will be looking into legal action because this is ridiculously false advertising saying that it is safe and okay!
I used the flushable facial wipes once and it too blocked my toilet. Had to get a plumber in and he said none of these so called "flushable wipes" are flushable, they will block all toilets.
Toilet wipes in general seem to have been deleted from most stores, I assume because they can sometimes cause plumbing issues. Based on personal research, I only ever used 2 Harpic wipes once or twice per week & never had an issue with them. Have not found any on local shelves for at least 12 months.
I continue to use Harpic White/Shine gel to clean & wipe toilet with cloth as required.
is Harpic White and Shine suitable for septic systems? there is no indication on the container one way or the other
Not certain, but I should think if not, then packaging would indicate as not suitable for septic as other products often do. To be sure, best contact Harpic direct.
Has anyone found a way to open the damned lid? As an older woman, with arthritis, and a even older husband (who is fit and healthy) neither of us can get the lid off - the so called "squeeze and turn" just doesn't work. We have no younger family members living nearby as we live in the country and are a 45 minute drive to the supermarket so we can't just "pop down to the shop" to get a refund or replace it with a container we can open. I'm guessing all of the Harpic products now have the same type of lids..... which means I'm going to be looking for a different brand with a different lid next week when I do the 90 minute return, once a fortnight, trip to the "local" supermarket.
I usually use an adjustable wrench (or a similar tool like a nutcracker, because I have lots of tools at hand). Turn the lid anti-clockwise till it stops. It then needs something that will fit very snugly around the top half of the lid, where there is a smooth strip on opposite sides, so that you can exert a small amount of pressure as you turn it anti-clockwise.
Once you have managed to undo the lid for the first time, it then only needs a slight squeeze with your fingers on the upper part of the smooth strips to undo it again after you turn the lid till it stops. Or otherwise don't screw it back on for more than a couple of turns.
Harpic is a very good brand. They put out a new perfume in a white bottle which had a nasty cap. I do like the way the bottle works getting under the rim of the toilet. I now use one with a green lid. The idea is to push in both sides of the cap more to the bottom of the cap and twist. If you are having trouble mutilate the lid with something like a hacksaw, stilsens etc., be careful not to hurt yourself or if you get the lid off leave it off but put it in a safe place or again put plastic and a rubber band over the opening. Perhaps Harpic should look into changing the lid or putting out a choice of lid?
I love this bleach. It's fantastic & way better than anything used in past, however I have exactly the same problem opening the lids. Have to wait for hubby to come home & open it for me!
Is harpic white/shine safe in septics?
Hi Gail. I have the same question.
I doubt anything with chlorine in it is safe for septics.
Bad customer service when they dont supply the answers for us.
