No.

Kathy, Unit had light on and water but did not steam and leaked water from bottom. Tried again next day and steamed but leaked again.

The steam outlet gets blocked regularly. You could remove the mop head and poke some wire (about 1.2mm dia) down the outlet hole. That will push the debris out of the way for a while. To remove it fully, you need to take it apart.

Hi, they don't sell them any more. I brought the new steam mop (triangle shape) for $49 and a 3 pack of pads for $9.50.

I bought my STM-501 steam mop a while back but today is the first time I have tried to use it. The water is heating up in the unit but no steam is coming out. What can I do?

Rex

This mop performs very well, strong steam etc., but it leaves marks everywhere. I believe this is due to the firm edging of the pad. I have checked the fitment and quality of the pad and no adjustment is possible. I'm surprised to find only one other person making a similar complaint. I would have thought that the pad should wrap over the mop head so that the edging didn't bear on the wet surface, which I think makes lines. Are you aware of this being a common problem and can you suggest a fix please?

Ashleino
Ashleino

My pads stretch out about 5mm over the head, the edges are covered by the pad . I do make sure it is a firm fit on the bottom, so it's nice and tight and stretched out on the bottom. I also put the pad on slightly damp for a smoother quicker start. I use my mop 4 to 5 times a week.

Rex
Rex

Ashleino, that's good feedback and advice, and so quick! While the pad doesn't feel as though it has much give, I'll try wetting and stretching it before attaching. That just might solve my problem. Thanks!

My brand new steam mop will not steam. The tank feels hot but no steam even after 8 minutes. Is there a solution.

My son bought me this Steam Mop last xmas. I was moving in the February so didn't bother using it till I got to my new house. Come March my son set it up for me and I was very happy with it, until last week he pointed out the scratches all over the tiles. I nearly died. My whole house is tiled except bedrooms. When inspecting the bottom of the mop you can see how the pad only covers the middle and the sides of the machine are all scruffed from rubbing on the tiles. I am disgusted that anyone could make such a stupid mistake when designing something like this. I don't have a receipt as sons wife hasn't kept it so how do I go about getting my money back. You can see by the machine it is in excellent condition as it has only been used twice a month since March.

Hi Donna, unfortunately I cannot help rectify your problem and I, certainly, would write to Kmart with your complaint. My mop is the one which has replaced the STM-501. I am not happy with the one and only pad that came with the mop, it certainly does not clean the floor properly - I am. somehow, having to pad the centre of the triangle head to allow it to meet the floor, the time I used it there were no scratches on the tiles, I will keep a watch on that. I will purchase a set of pads and will try to use 2 at a time to see if that works. Thank you and I believe you should put the above complaint on the reviews for others to read. Kindest regards BIG BOY.

Assembled as per instruction, but water does not heat up at all.

Jayd
Jayd

It takes a couple of minutes for steam to start. You should hear a buzz before it steams up. If it doesn't I would probably return it for an exchange.

John
John

Thanks Jayd, we tried that and left it over 10 minutes but no heat, no buzzer.

We will take it back but have misplaced the sales docket.

What steam temperature does this reach?

Jayd
Jayd

It doesn't have a temperature guide I can only say obviously it reaches beyond boiling to produce the steam.

Alicia S.
Alicia S.

when you look up steam mops and the temperatures that competitors make, this one isn't even mentioned. the machines must boil up to 212 degrees to kill germs, dust mites, etc. I didn't know this until I researched it. Just because a machine steams, does not mean it kills germs. Personally I wouldn't buy the Kmart steam mop due to the product not displaying the temperature. For $50, I wouldn't expect it would, given the products that heat over 212 degrees, are above $200 price.

Can you pour in some floor cleaner or even essential oils to the water reservoir?

Dee4226
Dee4226

Hi Mark The manual says not to pour anything other than water into the tank. Instead, I sprinkle essential oil drops (usually lavender) on the cloth pad and it releases the fragrance as you use the mop. I wash the cloth pad after each use, just throw in a washing bag in the machine. Happy cleaning!

My mop does not seem to steam? When I first turned on and warmed up a little steam came out since then nothing. I’ve checked everything but can’t find a thing wrong. I’m guessing it is broken before I’ve even started. So disappointed. Any advice?!

I'm sorry to say it does sound like it has a fault, if you've checked everything logical I'd take it back and ask for a replacement.

I just unpacked mine and it doesn't work either. It just vibrates and buzzes but doesn't generate any steam. The manual and troubleshooting guide doesn't even mention vibrating or buzzing. Back to Kmart....

Just brought mine and it’s the same thing. It seems to have heated up, but no steam.
