Brilliant small car – Brilliant little car and spacious. We bought the car in 2010. No major mechanical issues. Regular service and runs like a dream. I had a few minor parts replaced due to age and km. The car has done nearly 300 thousand km and I think it will continue to run another 150 to 200 thousand km. Over the life of the car, I replaced the following: Door… Read more
locks failed 2 time and a oxygen sensor failed. Door locks were expensive. I replaced the PCV valve to fix an oil consumption issue. That fixed the issue. Drive belt at 200 thousand km.
All other items were just regular service.
Simply a fabulous car – We bought this car brand new back in 2012 and have been using it as our main family vehicle ever since. We have clocked up 325,000 km so far and have never had a single problem with it. All that it has required is the usual maintenance as per the recommended service schedule. We started using premium petrol in it somewhere around the 250,000km… Read more
mark but before that used plain unleaded petrol. The interior is bigger than you would expect from a small car, so we are able to fit five adults in it quite easily when required. The car still runs very well so we are wondering if it may yet have a lot of life left in it. After such a good experience with this car, when it came time to buy a second car recently we chose another Honda (a Civic) and we have been delighted with that too. When our Jazz finally runs out of steam, we'll be replacing it with another Honda Jazz.
The absolute most reliable car I have owned – I purchased this used 2012 Honda Jazz Vibe (Auto transmission) January 2018 from Formula Honda Modbury. It has turned out to be the best car I have ever owned in my entire driving career. It had one issue that was resolved under warrantee which was brake vibration. Since the repair not one thing has failed in the 6 years of ownership. It has… Read more
reached 139877 kilometers and still has the original battery. The tyres are still as they were when I bought the car 6 years ago. It returns an easy 6 litres of fuel per 100 kilometers . It is extremely practical with those magic seats that can be folded to a myriad of combinations, The paint has held up over the years, the interior too. The car has done a few long trips to Port Pirie from Adelaide South Australia , the comfort was amazing for such a small car with quite forgiving suspension and little road noise. The only disappointment about this vehicle is from Honda Australia who refuse to market the current model thus halting my thoughts of upgrading to a later model Jazz.

Best small car for everyone especially for bicycle riders – I purchased this second hand for airport run. I am a FIFO worker and I need a reliable second car solely for airport commuting. During a month of ownership, I am very satisfied with this zippy Jazz. I can recommend this to people who want reliable, cheap to maintain, fuel efficient and bicycle loadable car. It is a good highway cruiser too. Here… Read more
are more detailed information,
* fairly easy DIY maintenance: engine oil cost $20 (sale from supercheap) filter is $15, spark plugs, cabin filter, air filter, automatic transmission fluid change are all easy DIY jobs. Of course if you do these at shops, they charge , for example, min $200 for auto oil change, but it costs me $55 for HONDA OEM oil.
*good fuel economy: I get around 5l/100km, 20km/litre on highway and 5.2l/100km combined
* great loading size: if you love cycling, this is by far one of the best SMALL car for bike transfortation, thanks to magic seats
*quite few tweaks required to upgrade your speaker and audio unit; stock OEM speaker is rubbish so you want to upgrade with after market ones but to do that you either need an adaptor or modify your speaker bracket.
head unit needs a new fascia and connecting harness to have aftermarket double DIN head unit installed
Thanks for reading.
It's a good car – Our second jazz, first one was a 2005 VTIs, this one a 2012 vibeS. Great flexible interior, magic seats are just that. Reliable, reasonably cheap to run, very good regarding maintenance, as in nothing failed, nothing. Still has original front brake pads at 100k kms. however, limited front leg room for taller driver/passenger, 1.5l engine has to… Read more
work hard and hunt with the 5 speed auto, always optimistically changing up - then back down, and up, and down. Also felt the quality had dropped a bit vs the 2005 VTIs, paint quality was not as good on the 2012, seems very thin and easily scratched back to primer, cargo cover cheap, headlights dim when the aircond cuts in.
Biggest criticism is the suspension, too harshly dampened, but rear springs not strong enough so sags with any weight, making rear seat passengers cringe, very crashy over pot holes and bumps, Honda just don't do suspension like they did back in the 90's. Hate to say it but the Ford fiesta, same size car with beam rear axle, has much better suspension.
Overall a good appliance car for getting you, and (lots of) stuff, from A to B.
Reliable city car that can also travel long distances – The engine is only 1.3l and reviews from the time I bought it called it small and ineffectual, but performance is more than adequate if you put your foot down, it will easily cruise on the freeway at the legal limit, although it might down change a gear on long hills. Like most Honda engines it likes to rev. It's only a light car, and crashes and… Read more
bangs a bit over big bumps, but apart from that, the ride is good. It's easy to park and amazingly large inside for such a small car, and very flexible for transporting bits large screen TVs, compost bins, bicycles.
I bought the car at around 10,000 km and so far it's done 58,000km. I've driven it several times from Melbourne to the Hunter Valley in NSW but for the most part I use it around the city.
A year or two ago I had to replace the fan motor for the heater and air-con (a known fault, but which Honda Australia tend to keep very quiet about). The car was made in Thailand, so when I was on holiday there, I bought the spare parts and had them fitted locally, total cost was around $130 for parts and around $60 for labour. Honda aren't renown for cheap servicing costs, so I imagine it would have cost more if i had bought the parts here.
Apart from that I've replaced the battery and the tyres and nothing else. It's very economical to run, and my local garage maintains it without any problems. They reckon it'll easily go 200,000 km. It's now eight years old and feels like it will run another eight years before I have to replace it.

Excellent reliable car – Driving this Honda Jazz from 2011. Everyday car for shopping, school trips, commuting work. Easy to park. Used as a second car. Excellent fuel economy. Magic seats fold flat to transport large items. Engine sometimes under powered during traffic lights, freeway merging. Plastic trims fade easily. This is our second Honda Jazz. Highly recommended and planning to buy the next model. Show details
Small but versatile little car – We use the car for general city run about and picking up the kids from school. It's extremely frugal and zippy for the engine size. We were surprised how roomy the car is due to high ceiling compare to other small hatchbacks. Show details

Poor Quality Parts in JAZZ door – We bought a brand new JAZZ through Honda dealer. This JAZZ drives OK. We like the magic seats. Although we have serviced this car regularly through the Honda Dealer driver side door actuator failed after 60,000 KMs. Took it to the Honda Dealer for repairs. After $326 & three trips to the dealer they fixed it. Very next day the passenger side… Read more
front door lock started playing up. Sometime it will not open remotely. Similar symptoms to the other side.
Clearly the HONDA quality is gone down. It is sad to see such a reputed manufacturer not see quality as an important issue. No more JAZZEs again.
Car is ok. Had paint issues since the 2nd year of use – Car is ok overall but I've had some paint issue since the 2nd year of purchase. Brought it back to Scotts Honda multiple times and they exchanged the doors. Pretty bad experience considering you're buying a new car. Would I buy it again, probably not. Probably just my bad luck! Decent car, but dont expect too much – The change from gear 1 to gear 2 is a bit slow and can make it seem it struggles to get up hills. Internal is spacious for a small car. Drains petrol quite a bit for its size as compared to other comparable small cars. The bluetooth function does not connect to music player and the rear sensor beep a lot even though the object is far from the car (can get annoying at times). Show details

Plastic Trim Below Wind Screen Faded – My Honda Jazz is still within the warranty period. The first fault was the front seat belt buckle did not lock properly. Honda dealer had it replaced. The second issue was the plastic trim below the wind screen which faded. Honda dealer and Honda HQ said it was due to "sun damage", and not covered by the warranty. I am still puzzled because… Read more
all cars are made to be driven and parked under the sun, in the rain, under the moon ... So the plastic trim should withstand the beating of the Australian sun and rain. I noticed that cars of other brands did not have such fading problem. I am at wits end, and don't know what else I can do.
I am not sure would anyone accept that a raincoat damaged by water is an acceptable explanation.

Everyone's favourite! – The small car that doesn't feel tinny, economical, reliable, zippy and ohh so easy to park! Its comfortable - has enough leg room, and enough room on the backseat for kids seats too. The backseat folds up revealing a LOT of room so doing massive shops or transporting large things is never problematic. Its quiet to drive, does equally well in the… Read more
city and on the freeway. Acceleration is what can be expected from a small car. Service is cheap.
I will definitely buy another Jazz once this gets too old to drive - which is not for a while I'm told by my mechanic.
Highly recommended.
Great car, but wish it had a little bit more power – We bought our 2009 VTIS new back in 2009. It's a great little car, lots of leg room, great turning precision and comfortable enough. The fuel economy is pretty good too even for a 1.5l. It's lived up to its brand, this is my fourth Honda and with around 70k on the clock it's been well worth the price. The magic seats are truly magical, and the… Read more
paddles on the steering wheel are quite responsible compared to similarly priced vehicles. The 5 speed auto transmission is a must, I wouldn't touch anything with CVT. All in all, great car..just wish it was a bit peppier but I guess the car wasn't made to be fast. My last Honda was a Integra Type R and my other car now is a 3.0TDi Q5. I really feel the change in power.
What a great little car – Lovely to drive. Hugs the road. Great on the freeway and city streets. Quiet to drive. Economical on fuel. Mechanically sound. I have had no major issues with mine in 4 years and we have done quite a few kms. Tidy and well designed inside and out. Everything is easy to use. No manual required. Easily fits 5 people. Also fits baby capsules and… Read more
car seats well. Plenty of leg and arm room inside. Doesn't feel like a small car at all. Boot fits more than expected. Often suprises us.
First little car I have owned and loved it. Now upgrading to a Honda CR-V as need something to tow.
Can't recommend this little car enough!
Love it! – I loved my jazz, it is a small car but it definitely is the best car i've ever driven so far. It is very economical and i do managed to save up a fair bit because it does not use up a lot of fuel. It has a pretty cozy interior in comparison to other small cars, it is also great for transporting large size things because you can just put the seats down and transformed into a mini van. Smartest car ever – It's always been on my wishlist and I've finally bought it. I can think of a better car: runs on nothing (18km/l) and makes me feel good cause it respectful towards the planet. it's big enough to bring my 3 surfboards around (shortboards 6'3" the longest). the foldable seat system is mindblowing and so quick. the engine has a timing… Read more

CONS
paint job could have been better, but hey, nobody is perfect
number one – Best for storage magic rear seats best rating from Top Gear not fast being a 1300cc auto great little mover never let us down over 12 years drove from Cairns to Townsville 3 times at 80/90 klm an hour. Tailgate opening large as is the load area with the magic rear seats system they fold flat or lift up and passenger down. Only issue metalic paint seems thin as it scratches easy Show details
Nice city car – This is a small car, so the power engine only has 1.5l. It has a good room inside the car. You can use it to move something not that big, as you can fold the back seat down. The running cost won't be high, as it is 6.7l/km. I like this car, as it is easy to park. Show details
Love my Jazz! – Greatest car ever, Has all of the modern bites you would expect. Nice lines in the design of the car. Mine is back and it is rather sleek :D Very economical. This car can fit a huge amount into the boot, we fitted a fridge in once but is also SOOO easy to park has it has a very small footprint. Show details
Love our jazz! – We spent a long time considering which second car to get. As a family of five who take a big road trip every year and go camping a lot, we love our 7 seater Toyota but we wanted something more fuel efficient as a second car. The jazz fits us all in easily, it is well designed with lots of boot space and it is fun to drive!! I'm so happy that we bought a jazz! Show details

Great car! – Bought it second hand for a reasonable price. Great car. Feels like flying when driving even when driving at 100kms - smoother than my other cars. Also great at carrying things. The back seats fold completely flat and it is high enough to easily fit furniture without having to rent a van! Show details
2013 Honda Jazz Vibe-S – Bought the 2013 Honda Jazz Vibe-S (auto) for the wife with a tad over 20,000 kms on the clock. We love how spacious the little car is on the inside for such a small bodyprint. The magic seats have been perfect for us when moving houses as we have been able to pack in a surprising amount of large items into the back with the seats folded down,… Read more
including a 6 drawer chest of drawers, 1100 x 1300 canvas painting and outdoor furniture!
Performance and handling is as expected with a 1.5L engine returning real world fuel economy of around 7-8L/100km with mixed city and freeway driving. Front and rear parking sensors have been very useful and the large windscreen and windows provide for great road visibility.
No issues so far, and for the price we paid we couldn't be happier with the little Jazz.
Practical car very functional, but lacking the fun to drive factor – I purchased this used blue 2012 Honda Jazz GE manual VTI vibe hatch back from Formula Honda September 2016 to replace my troublesome GD Honda Jazz, although the buying experience was pleasurable, the car has turned out to be rather disappointing. Mine is the 1500 cc manual V T I, with quite a few extras, like side skirts, driving lamps, etc. The… Read more
car is very appealing to the eye. It is really roomy for a small hatchback, also, you can store things as large as a washing machine in the rear with seats folded down. The car had 13,000 kms on the odometer at purchase, with one careful elderly owner and full service history. It is a very comfortable car to sit in or be a passenger in, very quiet and reasonable road manners, the seating is slightly raised so you have a good clear view of the road but not too high as to cause wandering or instability while driving. My worse gripe is the engine revs higher in this manual version compared to our automatic Jazz, at 60 kph in top gear it sits on 2000 rpm, compared to the auto which is 1500 rpm at the same speed. The shift is rather sloppy and not at all smooth. 2nd gear is appalling and is better to skip it and go straight to 3rd. I love to drive a manual car but this is not at all what I expected, the previous model was way better to drive, it shifted easier and smoother, and it did not rev its guts out at low speeds, the high revs also impact on the fuel economy, the auto is about a litre per 100 kilometers easier on fuel, I average about 6.8 per 100kms in this manual, and yet in a straight line the auto can get way better than this down to 5,6. I was hoping the newer model (GF) had rectified this revving situation but on a test drive I can assure you they have not. So, if you are like me, and LOVE to drive a manual car, then I would suggest something else, like a Mazda 2, they drive better, and shift better, BUT, you can't fit people in the rear, What to do ?**** Its been 2 years now and I have put 27,000 kms on this car, the shift has improved, I am willing to live with it a few more years, as nothing comes close to the comfort and room on offer in this class of vehicle.
Engine Failure – Bought my Honda Jazz with 52000 km , great car at first , had it serviced when due , then at 86000 the engine blew up , it was 6 weeks out of warranty. Took it to Honda dealer where originally purchased said they need to strip it down to see if can warrant engine at a cost of $850.00 to me. Result - I must have driven through water which then… Read more
somehow got through air filter resulting to 1 corroded engine rod. What a heap of crap , if that was case all 4 rods will have corroded according to a reputable independent mechanic. Dealer told me my engine is only Honda to have failed in Australia , another lie , a customer of mine has a Honda Accord that had same issue , and yes , they told him he drove through water also. The dealership could have saved me time and around $1200.00 if they told me straight up to just put second hand motor in car , as they had no intention of any good will . All they did was add salt to the wounds, they are disgusting , and thanks to them I would never own another Honda car again.
We call it the 'Egg' – The manual 1.5l VTi with the body kit is a great looking car and economical at 6.5 l/100kms. It is fast enough and comfortable enough for touring but excels as a town car and runabout. It is well made and I can service it myself. Having cruise control is a great luxury and the versatility of the interior layout is exceptional. Everything works… Read more

Two years later and we still have it. The Takata airbags were quickly fixed by the local dealer even though we bought this privately. Car has 60,000 kms on it now and is running like new with no faults.
good and bad – it drives well has not let me down 91,000 km its fuel consumption is nothing near what Honda claims near 30% more fuel used than claimed it has amazing amount of space inside its noisy and rattly hard plastic trim within 3 years and 61,000 km still under so called warranty I wanted the worn through trim on the door panel I repeat worn through… Read more

has never happened to me on any other car and I have had a few 5 new ones and several used I also wanted the worn through trim on the drivers seat yes a hole around 40mm long had worn out on the cheap seating material
Honda claimed it is fair wear 3 years reasonable carefull driving not many kilometres travelled and holes in my upholstery I can only state I will never buy another new Honda built in japan ads claiming don't you like it when something works well I want it to work longer than the warranty period (NEVER AGAIN HONDA)
great for first car, affordable low fuel consumption, – As a small transporter tool every working day or shopping day, it does very well. easy to park and handle. I like it got enough legroom and headroom The service cost are acceptable, its reliable and safe. It is great for new learner and small family. After folding second row of seat, there is plenty room for even a bicycle. Show details
2nd Honda Jazz – While we've had the expensive Mercs and Bimmers we decided to downsize in retirement and bought another Honda Jazz with just 12K on the clock for $14,000 in Oct 2014 after owning one a decade ago, we like the fuel consumption, the drivers view, its zippy around town, so easy to park and can go to Bunnings anytime with the back seats down as we can carry so much, its so cool. Gutless, Poor Quality And Worse Cuctomer Service – Honda "customer service" is the worst. Parts fall apart like no other car I have ever owned and dealers acknowledge the faults but Honda turns a blind eye ("wear and tear" - a year after the purchase in the first case of the same issue). Would've hoped for better. Show details
This is wonderful – I bought Honda Jazz in 2010. I have had this for more than five years. It has been good without any broken down. Jazz is good size to drive and parking in a small place. and want to recommend to other people. Also maintenance cost is reasonable and cheaper than European Car. The Petrol cost is economic. very good.
Great little car – Have had my Jazz since 2010. very impressed with its pick up, economy and power. In 2011 I had to drive through 3 lots of .2 water the Jazz made it through. I had to go through other wise I would have been stuck in the middle of no where. I would highly recommend at least the 2010 model. It was more expensive then today's model I paid $20990. still love this car – I've had this car for 3 years this month and have had no issues except an air filter changed. Value for money at the time and came with accessories. cars but thats being picky. However the interior is great quality and the style is young and modern. The interior is huge, one of the biggest small cars inside and small on the outside. Just tried the new civic and it has more space inside the jazz than the civic. The space is the reason I bought this car. Overall for the price it's a great looking car and drives well in the city and on the highway. Dave Potter honda service was fantastic!
Update* after 11 years the computer broke, first issue I ever had, replaced it with another for $1000 and it worked like new again.
Rust bucket – I purchased the car new. I was told they never rust. In no time at all rust appeared in all four door drain holes. I asked about that at second service. They said no worries it's just the very edge of the metal where it's been cut doesn't have paint. It'll be fine. Next thing rust popped up at the bottom of all the doors and under the bonnet.… Read more
Fortunately the car was under rust warranty but claiming it was like dealing with the Marfia.
Finally and I mean finally after much arguing with the local dealer then Honda Australia it was repaired under warranty. Well mostly repaired they did miss a couple of spots. I just gave up in the end.
Now just out of warranty more rust. I thought about selling it but my morality won't allow it.
My sister had the same problem but much more rust. The car should have been written off as there was so much rust. Once again rusted out soon after buying it new. Both cars were white and made in Thailand.
The cost of parts is outrageous. Just call spare parts up and you'll get some idea.
I'll never own another Honda again.
