An excellent machine for pets! – I own owned this model for the past 7 years and it has never let me down, I use this machine once a week and it will never fail to get rid of all the imbedded dust bunnies and cat fur. The suction of this machine is absolutely immaculate, and the noise level of the Vacuum is very quiet, the bag compacity is quite large considering this is a… Read more
smaller machine. The onboard attachments are an absolute life saver, although I would've liked to see the dusting brush on board. The power head is very useful with the strong bristles and blue LED lights for seeing hidden dirt, the carpet and floor head combined are useful, but I mostly keep the power head off when on the tiles as its convenient and it has a much bigger gap for getting dust.
When I first looked at the machine in Godfreys the employee had told me when I first use the power head, I should try it in the dark, and oh my god, I never knew that much cat fur was in the carpets (our old retired Kambrook Jaguar was stinky and is used for the cars now).
Although I do want Hoover to answer this question in the comment, sometimes when I am using the machine it will turn off and the blue lights on the power control start flashing, what does that mean? (Its only happened once or twice).
I do see what people mean by the machine 'tipping over' because of the four wheels but I believe that they are just tugging it quite hard because most people do not care for their machine properly. If this machine was still on the market, I would certainly buy it again, although I would like the dusting brush to be onboard. I hope that people feel the same way about this machine like I do.
I will continue to love this machine's outstanding performance, and durability, the price as well was very convent.
Cheers. B.Builds
The worst vacuum cleaner I have ever owned – Thought this would be good for my needs. I have dogs with long hair. Had to clean head after every vacuum. Machine would just cut out and not work. I took this back to Godfrey’s and they blamed the head and bag not being cleaned so it over heated. Cable was too short. Clumsy vacuum poles. Then the outside casing cracked and bits of plastic started falling off inside. Lasted 3 years. It has now been recycled. Show details
Disappointing as difficult to move around – This vacuum cleaner is difficult to pull around, keeps falling over and the hose twists. The cord is too short, so I am always unplugging and re-plugging it in. I wanted a light vacuum cleaner, but with the motorised head it is too heavy. the suction is good, but it does not reach the edges easily. I do not recommend this model. Show details

Don't think I could hate vacuuming more – Short chord, heavy body that flips over but reluctant to follow, small wheels so under carriage constantly gets stuck on chord!!!! (This is the most aggravating aspect). This is a cumbersome and awkward machine that make vacuuming unbearable. Power head on carpet does work well but were told we needed a separate standard head for hard surfaces as… Read more
shouldn't use power head all the time /on hard and it actually doesn't work on hard, so you need to chop and change which is awkward and often difficult to remove. Advised the bagless version was not as good so stupidly went for bagged. Not only are the bags expensive, also got a separate chamber attachment at extra cost; this at least gives satisfaction of seeing dirt picked up. So the add on chamber is basically the only remote positive in this expensive saga. Clearly designed by someone who doesn't vacuum in the real world more than 1m Infront of them. After 18 months we all agreed ditch it on the curb for some other poor sucker to be tortured with and we now see the worth in spending extra money on a Dyson chordless.
A must have for carpet areas – After our last Hoover vacuum, we didn't think twice about buying the Action Pets model when upgrading. We have large carpeted areas and pets that shed badly and it never lets us down. The power head is very effecient at picking up all the fur and the dirt and dust from aging carpet that's due for replacing. The vacuum is light enough that we… Read more
can easily tackle the carpeted stairs with it too. We haven't had any issues with it tipping over and can get good life from the bags before they need changing.
The small handheld power head is a great idea and would be prefect for tricky areas and furnishings but unfortunately it jams quickly with hair and fur. Its also air driven instead of motor driven like the big powerhead which I think contributes to the loss of function when jammed. Bit disappointed that I need to stop after a few minutes and cut and detangle it (this process takes a few minutes each time and makes the task longer and frustrating). But if you don't have pets and female hair to clean up you should be fine!
Overall very happy with this small exception.
A solid vacuum cleaner with a power head on the cheap (with minor build issues) – Hoover in all honesty has impressed me. The item was bought a year ago, and has worked quite well. The experience can be summed up by saying: " You get what you pay for" The first con that comes to my mind would be the build quality. Its built well enough, but i feel like its not as sturdy as i would like it to be. About a year (11 months in),… Read more
i often hear squeaks when i hold the vacuum cleaner with a bit of force. Its nothing too major, but relates to the plastic handle. One of the wheels on the lower left side also feels a bit off (loose), which was a let down (hence -1 star)
It is relatively easy to maneuver and use, but i find the cable to be a bit short. Another gripe i have is going in reverse, as that without fail always seems to tangle up the cables (due to the design of the vacuum cleaner). It's these minor inconveniences that add up over time, a leave a slightly negative impression.
However, day to day performance is solid. It comes boxed with a power head, which is super handy for cleaning carpets and the suction is quite strong. Its a very pleasant experience for me so far using and it hasn't has any anomalies. It also has a knob that can adjust between the different power settings, and has a visual representation (above knob). I've cleaned wooden floors, carpets, tiles and curtains (includes a head for curtains) with ease, the cleaner is mainly built with plastic but it does pack quite a bit of power under the hood.
Overall, im quite happy with the purchase and consider it to be a lot more affordable and versatile than what dyson offers around the $500 range.

Great Effective Vacuum – I bought this vacuum after living in a mouldy house and being terrified of mould, spores, dust etc. This vacuum is so effective and powerful. You can also dial it down when vacuuming delicate things like blinds or drapes. I have 2 dogs who have been shedding a lot lately. This vacuum does the trick. I use it on my floors, couch, mattresses, car. It's great quality too. Show details · 1
German shepherd – Great value for money, we have a german shepherd in our 3 bedroom house with carpets. Using with the hoover filter saver we can see just how much dog hair it pulls and leaves the carpets feeling soft and amazing. It does tip over when turning corners, and accessory storage cover is very flimsy. But overall performance is outstanding. Show details · 1
Makes cleaning with dogs a breeze – Cleans the floor and furniture really well. This is my third pet vac and found this one to actually lift the hair. Good suction and not too heavy. After having shoulder surgery need a light weight vacuum. Show details · 1

THE WORST VACUM – I was talked into buying a Hoover after i had 5 or 6 Miele what a mistake. This vacum has been made. As cheaply as possible. It has no power at all; the cable is to short and doesn’t retract properly, the castor wheels dont roll in the same direction as the vacum, the clip to close the vacum is very flimsy.BUY MIELE. It’s less than 12 months old and I dont use it, I purchased another Miele. Show details

Wish I'd read the other reviews before I bought it – I went along to buy another Nilfisk but listened to the salesperson and got sold the Hoover Action Pets instead. The cleaner head takes large amounts of pile off our (expensive) carpets. The machine's capacity is small so the bag doesn't fill properly and needs replacing after every clean. The cleaner head is too high and doesn't fit under some… Read more
furniture and too wide so doesn't fit into some spaces. I still use the old Nilfisk floor tool on the tiles. There is no handle on top of the machine so moving it around is cumbersome. The hose gets a kink it. In short a waste of $400+. I'll abandon this machine and go and buy a Nilfisk, which I should have got in the first place.
I eventually took the Hoover back to Godfreys and they kindly did an exchange (with cash… Read more
don't bother if you have pets – I could have bought a cheaper cleaner but got sucked in by the salesman. The pet feature is useless as the head keep blocking up, the machine tips over by looking at it and the bag capacity is far too small. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The machine is crap. This is perfect. Best vacumn i've ever had – Best vacumn i've ever had. Strong suction. Power head picks up everything. All attachments are great. Im very fussy about cleaning. I bought the cyclonic seperator for $90, best investment i ever made. I only have to change my bag once a year. Because i use the cyclonic seperator, my filters never get dirty. This vac will last me 20 years im sure. Show details · 1

The absolute BEST vacuum I had had! – Every single vacuum I have had has not lived up to this. Super powerful suction down to gentle for curtains etc I have 2 very very furry German Shepherds, and this means vacuuming every single day. The amounts of dog hair and dust is infinite and this vacuum has my home looking immaculate, even if I have to vacuum every day. No other Vacuum has… Read more · 1
been this good. Its a pleasure. I had hard wood floors and carpet, the vacuum doesn't tip over easily, and the good thing is, the vacuum shell is white, which means no more black rubber marks left on the walls all the time as you drag it around. Con: The cord is too short, but that seems to be a standard these days... make sure you have an extension cord. I have zero idea why anyone would have a complaint about this vacuum as per some of the silly reviews... Dont buy a cheap one that will only last a short time, especially if you have animals. This is made for it!
Great suction on all surfaces – I love this vacuum. I recently upgraded from an Electrolux bag less vacuum. I have pets so I needed something that could clean efficiently and quickly and this does just that. I go from hard floor to carpet without needing to change the head. And with a flick of the switch I get extra power to deep clean the carpet. Being a bagged vacuum its… Read more · 1
actually a much cleaner machine and doesn't need all the maintenance a bagless vacuum needs. Only con is that it's a bit hard to maneuver around objects.
Great Power! – Was very surprised by the amount of dust sucked from my carpet the first time using the machine. Realised how much i was missing after my cheap kmart one broke. The power head is great for carpet, but the power needs to be turned down for rugs - or use the non powered head. Bagged which doesn't bother me. Does however have tendency to topple over with with little wheels. Show details · 1
Great vacuum cords a bit short – I love this vacuum it's powerful great suction especially the light option with more power with the spinning head brilliant but it's an absolute pain with such a short cord and it tips over constantly I'll quite often turn to see it upside down and it's so frustrating Show details
Very nice love my vaccum hoover is the best – I use it for both carpet and hard surface tiles in the kitchen I love it .. it gives a clean smooth carpet and even picks up the minutest of the dust from with in the carpet or mats.i can definitely see the difference between using the cheap ones from kmart and this one.. just love it Show details · 1
An excellent product, I'm very happy with it – I chose this in part because it has a bag, which I find cleaner and tidier. It has a large capacity so I have only needed to change the bag once in the 11 months I've had it. It's thorough, light to manoeuvre and picks up pet hair no trouble. Show details · 1
Omg I'm in love – For so many years I kept buying cheap vacuum cleaners and then replacing them with another one. This year I bought a slightly more expensive one with a well known brand name and omg I'm so impressed. First vacuum I filled two bags that's how much the other vacs left behind. My carpet is so clean. Show details · 1
Good Vacuum performance – The vacuum cleaner has great suction and definitely works well with the power head for dog hair. The power cord however is not long enough and I always need an extension cord attached. The wheels on it are very small and it tips over very easily. The flexi hose also kinks a lot as both ends don't swivel. It is a very efficient cleaner other than… Read more
the other draw backs mentioned, but I also bought it on price and for the power head which is amazing. I also like the variable suction control for different uses, and it's very quiet.
Great Vacuum Purchase – Great vacuum if you have pets. Good suction and has a power head or normal head options. Works well in mats/rugs and hard flooring. Definitely sucks up all the pet hair. Relatively light and easy to drag around. Need to change bags but that isn’t a major problem for me. Show details

Most useless vacuum cleaner I have ever owned – 1. Very heavy and cumbersome. 2. Power cord too short. 3. Smooth floor head sweeps rather picks up dust, especially on tiles. 4. Always having to clean the brush on this head as keeps getting blocked up with dust and fluff. 5. Won’t roll over the cord as the wheels are too short. 6. The power head works ok on carpets but the other head is useless on carpets as doesn’t suck up small bits of fluff. 7. Tips over easily Show details
Hoover Action Pet - Spend More Time Cleaning The Head – HOOVER ACTION PETS POWER HEAD VACUUM I thought would be the answer to my vacuum needs. I was wrong. It is constantly blocking suction only last for a few minutes and if you want to spend more time cutting out the rubbish from the head than actually vacuuming then this is the Hoover for you. I have one small dog that does not shed hair so this… Read more
problem is not due to massive amount of pet hair. Very disappointed when paying so much for this I really thought it was going to be the answer. It worked fine for the first month. Bags are expensive and the design of the head is terrible. This machine needs a head that you can take off to cleanse. It is so screwed in there is no way you can take it apart every time to cleanse it. Sorry Hoover, but this is not a winner carpet cleaner. Hard work.
Cleans carpet well – Really good for cleaning carpets with the power head. We are very happy with our purchase. There are two small annoyances, one is the bags fills up very fast due to the good cleaning action, but more than happy to change bags regularly to get clean carpets. The other is the power head does clog up with hair and other similar wast, and needs to… Read more
be cleaned at least once a month, but as before we are more than happy to remove the waste hair to get clean carpets.
I love this vacuum, it makes cleaning fun! – So I've been using a Dyson V6 handstick for a 3 BR 2 Bath house. It was sufficient for apartment living but I went to Godfrey's to look for an upgrade for deeper cleaning. First of all, I actually wanted to revert back to a wall powered vacuum, so the vacuum never runs out of power no matter how long you go at it! I have two cats at home and a… Read more
human who sheds massive amounts of hair, so I really needed something to handle the hairiness of the house. The Hoover is great because it has the vibrating mode which really pulses out all the dirt and hair from the carpets and rugs. And you can easily switch between different floor types just by turning this mode off. The awesome thing is that the vacuum on its highest setting sucks so fast and powerfully that the hair is less likely to get caught at the head and roll into the turbine. This means less snipping out hair and more time for other good things. It has an easy to read dial to change between the different power modes. Although it's quiet noisy I think that's expected when something is sucking at the floor so powerfully. The system uses bags which I think is more hygienic anyway (they hold a lot!) and also has the HEPA filter on it. I've been told the bags are cheap as well. Overall, a very happy customer. At $399 (after some discounts) I'm much more satisfied when it comes to vacuuming the house.
I like this vacuum – I purchased this from Godfreys earlier this year and I am quite happy with its performance. The blue light on the power head is a really great feature that I would have not thought necessary but is probably my favourite thing about the vacuum because it shows areas that you may have missed. The powerhead itself is great and helps lift more dust… Read more
from your carpet. This vacuum is so quiet!! I can vacuum late at night without disturbing the neighbours or the rest of the household. One downside is that it's not bagless however we have the bag saver attachment on the vacuum pole and rarely need to change the vacuum bag itself. i have a really messy partner who doesn't think to take his shoes off at the door and tends to make a lot of mess in general, crumbs etc, so we use this vacuum several times a day in a 4bedroom house and there has been no loss of suction. I would buy another one if it were on sale, I wouldnt say I love it but I like it a lot.
A great vacuum cleaner to own if you have carpets or pets (or both) – After my piranha died, I knew it was the last time I'd buy a cheap vacuum cleaner, so, my partner and I went to our nearest Godfrey's to look for a decent one. I originally wanted a stick vacuum cleaner, because I find them easier to deal with physically. When we were told that all of the stick vacuum cleaners were sold out, the sales person… Read more
directed us toward Hoover after asking us what we were looking for. (He tried to sell us a 700+ dollar one, but that was beyond our budget) Then he showed us this one, and told us all about the powerhead technology, gave us a demonstration and all that too. I was not only impressed with what it could do, but also that it was bagged, and the prettiest turquoise colour! Naturally, we bought it and took it home. It brought the carpets up to almost new! The vibrating head and the LED lights on it make it almost a complete joy to use. It has different suction levels for the types of floors, rugs, curtains and upholstry you can use it on, which is both really nice and innovative as i have never seen another vacuum cleaner do this.
For me, there are cons as well though. As mentioned above, I prefer stick vacuums, and even with the Hoover, that remains the case. I find that the drum is akward and almost unstable when in use. It does not move very well, and for me, it requires fair amounts of yanking on the hose to bring it closer to me because it's quite heavy. It's also horrible for turning around corners as it will either collide with the wall (which I don't like, because the house is a rental), or will flat out fall over either onto it's side or roll onto it's back. Lastly, the hose is also known to kink, which is also very annoying.
Having said all that, we now also own a stick Dyson, and I now use that more often than the Hoover, but having used both, I can tell you that in terms of actual vacuuming, the Hoover definitely stands up for itself. As far as I'm concerned, there is next to no difference in the end result between the two. I really only use the Dyson more because it's easier for me to use. I still bring out the Hoover and use it when I feel like it, and will alternate between the two. All-in-all, it's a very, very good vacuum cleaner, and I am glad we bought it.
Wonderful product with extreme high power – I'm editing my review after 6 months of usage... It cleans really well, the motorized head cleans properly when using it on the carpet. We have used ones before where carpet appeared clean, after using this one, it sucked huge amount of dust from the carpets where we were able to tell the difference from the dust bag. It's really amazing with… Read more
5 different vacuum power modes.
We don't have pets so we haven't tried it vacuuming pet hair.
Pros:
1- Affordable price. ($350-400)
2- Five different vacuuming power modes.
3- Can do really good job on floors and normal carpets.
Nothing is perfect...Cons:
1- The suck hole is quite large, it can suck anything and choke on in!!! Sometimes when using it under a blind spot (like a table with small height), small piece of paper or a small piece of tissue or food remaining might be sucked. When this happens, it get stuck inside the hose and it's really hard to take it out because the motorized head have electrics at both ends of the hose, so it is impossible to unplug it. Sometimes we would spend considerable time and effort to remove whatever blocks the whose. It was easier in our old vacuum cleaner to remove the vacuum both ends of the hose, so the hose become loose where we can easily remove whatever blocks the hose, then attach everything back easily.
2- It flips most of the time while turning because it have very small wheels.
3- When using it on think carpets, it's not that efficient anymore. The motor can't reach the bottom of the carpet and even on the highest vacuuming mode it still can't do the job.
4- Require regular cleanup for the motorized head.
Great cleaner – Great cleaner for the price. Got this cleaner for my sister as her other cleaners werent picking up the dog & cat hair. Love the powerhead , the suction is fantastic. Also love the attachment for the furniture as we can now sit on the couch without being covered in hair. Love the fact its got a bag as you then dont have dust going everywhere when you empty the vacuum. Show details
Easy to use – Love this vacuum cleaner. It glides over the carpet making it easy to push. The turbo head is great and picks up a lot of dirt. The bags are cheap to buy which is a bonus.I love the fact all parts are solidly made and not with a flimsy plastic.Having adjustable suction for rugs and curtains is a great. Carpet clesning is brilliant BUT – Pros..Carpets never felt so clean...the power head gets up every little dog hair...love it. Very quiet and the bags hold heaps... does topple over easily...
Every time i hear something rattle up the pipe i worry that it might damage the wiring, only time will tell.
All in all, i am pretty happy with it thus far...the power head makes it a real winner if you have pets.
A perfect machine in a budget – I am using this machine on the carpet a lot better with the power head than cheapy kmart vacuum . coz every time I sit on the carpet after vacuuming with the normal vacuum I still felt some dirt stuck in the carpet but after using this little power head feels lot better. Can't live without it – Our Hoover was the first 'good' vacuum we had bought. Until now, we were using old hand-me-down vaccums while in share houses/away at Uni. We were happy with the price and the main focus for us was being able to pick up all the animal hair we have at our place. The Hoover does a good job of this and we use it daily. The bags aren't too pricey to… Read more
keep replacing and it even offers a function of adding a 'bagless' barrel to the handstick in the future which we thought we might invest in down the track. We have had an issue with the belt however it was covered under the manufacturers warranty and we had no issues once it was returned to us fixed.
The best one I`ve had so far – After having a cheap Piranha for 18 months I had to retire it to the garage for car use because it just kept falling apart the wheels went on the floor tool the back grill/filter just kept coming off but the suction is still good but not practical for use around the house anymore. So I went to Godfrey`s to look for another one and I love, love… Read more · 2
,love that store. Looked at cheap ones etc then the salesman Brad offered me the Hoover Action Pets for $399 the normal Price $499 and a free pkt of bags you have to be happy with that. I had every intentions of a bagless model but after testing the difference in the store between bagless or bagged the bagged had the more suction by far and plus they last alot longer than the bagless ones (you learn something new everyday). The suction is the best I`ve had so far by a long shot, the vibrating power head just gets the dirt out of the carpet deep down (I will never use the floor tool again on carpet), very easy to maneuver glides over hard floors, has a mini power brush which is great for smaller areas lounge, curtains etc and other tools included. It`s much more quiet than my other ones and very easy to move around. You can fill the bags up to 98% full and it won`t loose suction and if your not happy with the purchase after 90 days you can bring it back for a swap or refund. I`m very happy with my purchase and at long last I have a bloody good vacuum cleaner.
