Last October whilst visiting Darwin on a cruise, my wife purchased an opal in their Darwin shop for just under $1,000. We thought the accompanying chain was 9 ct gold, in fact my wife checked with the Store Manager who confirmed it was. or similar. When we raised the matter with the store, they advised the chain was in fact a store display chain. They offered to replace the chain for a further payment of $250. We are very disappointed with their response and the fact that we were mislead. My wife would not have gone ahead with the purchase had they said it was a cheap display chain. We could have negotiated another price with a quality chain but their offer to give us a full refund was not our preference.
Out of all of the jewellery chains, Hoskings is the only family run with personable staff, that do their best to assist you and your requirements. When I read negative reviews about faulty products and instant refunds not given, I snigger and wonder if these sort of customers are legitimate or not. cases, needs to be assessed by head office or a supplier, so be it. This type of assessment apples to several items e.g. computers, cameras, TVs and the list goes on. I bought a bracelet for my husband for his birthday but it kept falling off his wrist, the magnetised bracelet kept opening up and it was very faulty and luckily he didn’t loose it. manufacturer and made us feel we were lying which was most upsetting. Now we have to wait, gosh knows how long to probably get the same bracelet back which will more than likely fall off again!!! Unfortunately this has left us never wanting to shop at hoskings if this is the way they treat honest customers. The lady who worked there actually sounded scared of management, that she may loose her job if she swapped it over or let us pick something else out which l think is bullying tactics by management!!!! a charm to honour my beautiful mother who passed recently. She listened & empathised with me then made sure that the charm that ‘spoke’ to me could be fitted on to my mum’s chain which I was wearing before gently putting it around my neck as we stood in front of a mirror to admire it. A wonderful and engaging experience – The staff were friendly and as the day was getting late there was no hurry to get me out the door. Gob smacked left speechless and shocked with worst customer service I’ve ever received staff called there products cheap – Went to return a Pandora necklace at Frankston store. I approached a staff member standing behind the counter. No warm greeting. I advised I was returning a necklace I had for a short three weeks that fell apart at the clip. Her first question did I go swimming with it on?? No if I had the necklace would be on the bottom on the ocean...... Then… Read more
she asked me how often I had worn the necklace, I was so perplexed with her line of questioning, I advised I had worn the necklace as most people wear them. During the day off at night for the last 3 weeks.
Her response then blew my mind...........she advised the necklace is a cheap necklace not meant for full time wear!?!?
I thanked her for that comment as my Sister had bought it for me for my 40Th bday with a Pandora locket that she had personally scribed on the back. Necklace was $120 so not that cheap.
After that rude customer service interaction I asked what is required to have the necklace fixed. Then it got worse. She rudely advised it’s not their responsibility to fix it is up to Pandora, she couldn’t be sure she had to ask her manger in the store that was on the phone and kept me waiting for 10 mins to get a answer. After a short chat to her manger she advised they will send it back to Pandora it’s up to them to have it fixed or if it would be a cost to me to have fixed and it will take up to 6-8 weeks.
There was no kind reassurance that it was under warranty still with only being 3 weeks used. I’ve been in Customer Service for 25 years and had never had such a terrible interaction and lack of care from an employee and or business.
I did get the clip fixed after 7 weeks. Locket was lost not refunded or given new one.
Necklace broke again after one week from being fixed and now it’s lost.
Terrible customer service and cheap cheap jewellery. Stay clear.

Fake Stirling silver. NOT REAL OR STAMPED CORRECTLY – Selling and advertising stirling silver when In fact it’s not stamped correctly as 925. Even when looking through the magnifying glass it’s not a 9 but rather a 0 or a 6. They will not accept it as being fake. My ears were irritated within a day as I’m allergic to metals and obviously that was junk in the silver. Show details
