Husqvarna 200 Series Questions & Answers
VerifiedWhy won’t a warm engine not start without choke
Mine starts fine without choke after a few minutes running.
Hi Joy,
Thank you for reaching out, The TS242 would need to be inspected to see why the engine won't start without choke when warm. Please take it to your local Husqvarna dealer and they will help you.
Mine starts but don't move?.
Off hand I would say a broken drive belt or Idler pulley.
Hi Thane, please note that Husqvarna monitor all the problems but do not appear to be of any help. As you have obviously read all the problems with my brand new mower, you will know that the warranty on these machines has no value at all. if your machine is starting that's good news, the Kawasaki engines are the best part of these mowers. What do you mean it starts, but will not go, do you mean the mower deck will not function when you pull the red button to engage the deck, or the mower simply will not move forwards or backwards? if the mower is not moving forwards or backwards then you have a drive belt problem. 1. As Dennis suggests broken drive belt, or belt has come off the pulley, which is not likely as you would see the belt hanging down a little bit. you will need to get on your knees and look under the mower the drive belt is above the mower deck drive belt, if the belt is off the engine drive shaft it will be very loose, the belt is tensioned by idler pulleys.
sorry, Thane.
Auto spelling. Sorry Thaele
Is the engine and transmission the same in the TS242TXD, TS248TXD and the TS354. If so is the deck size the only main difference please.
I was delivered my Husvarna TS 242 trackor ride on this morning and took it for its first mow on my property. Didn't even last 30 mins before the belt broke. Is this a thing with them? I hit a tuft of grass. No rocks or anything just grass.
That certainly hasn't been my experience - I mowed the edges of my hay paddock with mine not too long after I got it - grass taller than the bonnet on it - and it hardly skipped a beat. I'd say you have a defective belt... Were you starting the blades with the engine speed down low? I was told to always do that by my dealer when I first got it - engaging the blades with the engine at high revs will cause it to break early - but even then, 30 minutes seems excessively short. I beat on mine pretty hard for two years before the first belt let go. Hopefully the dealer is going to look after you on that one...
The first few years I had my Husqky I spent more on genuine belts than petrol, seriously. I then bought a high quality aftermarket belt that lasted eight years.
How long should a deck belt last on medium type cutting
Mine is a tough environment, and the first belt lasted two good seasons - so I would expect at least that if you're starting and stopping the deck properly (according to the dealer I got mine from, run the engine speed down to idle, engage the blades, then speed it up again). If you're engaging the deck at full speed I'd expect you'd go through belts quicker... Hope that helps, cheers, Steve
Thanks for that I've had mine 2hr and 2belts took it back to dealer today and the beck had been set to high ,going over long grass caused the belt to rub against the deck and the tension pulls to jam on the floor
Do these cut in reverse
Yep, mine seems fine cutting forwards and backwards - although I haven't tried going full-bore backwards for any great distance while cutting.
Thanks, mine just cuts out in reverse
where can I get a connecting pin for the reflector shield
The quick release mechanism for the blades-one came off in the yard while mowing-mower is ts 242 The two pins that hold it in place and allow it to swing down to change blades are both gone…can I buy these pins?
Broken 4 belts and dealership says nothing wrong with it.
Maybe its operator error or install error. Could be another part failed causing belts to break.
Is the difflock on always with this mower or do u have to switch it on?
There's no manual on or off. If it has diff lock in on all the time.
Do the cut in reverse
Why is my lawn mover moving very slowly, forward and backwards?
Turn the revs up
Could be the useless toq tuff transmission, mine failed at 200hrs and had to be rebuilt, just failed again at 600 hours, pile of junk
I need a belt for a TS 246 where can I get one as the place I us always gets the wrong one
Take the old one to a bearing shop, they can match it and cheaper than a mower store
It seems to be a waste of time asking a question you don"t get an answer
Its a product review site, what do you expect?
Any ideas what would cause a "clutch problem" on TS242. One is for sale for $3500 and I don't want to buy another ride-on with driveline problem?
Don't buy this ride on mower!! They are the worst machine. To many issues with clutch, throttle & blades. Mine is 2yrs old & has been back & fourth to mechanics more time than I've used it
Thanks Peta. I will avoid them.
I have had mine for 5 years and have not had a problem with it maybe it's the way you drive it as I don't trash mine
I am looking at a Husqvarna YTH2648 TDF 2010 model, would appreciate comments.
My 242 hit a small root and caused the blade to split the stone guard. The mowing mechanism now makes a dreadful noise when engaged. Can the the guard be welded apor will it have to be replaced? If so, approximately how much would this cost?
Are the 242 and 342 ts now of a better quality now and are the spindles protected with a shearing devise in case of hitting an obstacle.? When a starting switch is accidentilly left on does the hour meter continues to count or does the meter only count when the engine is running? Which is important! Looking forward to your reply WVB
Key left in counts
What is the EE fault and how can I fix it?
What are they like now with the Kawasaki engine
No idea. Mines 7 years old
Kawasaki engine is great they fixed all the issues mine is 2 years old now only done 55 hrs but no problems at all
Over 1000 hrs on mine, yes the gearbox has been replaced about 3 times, but this thing is a work horse, treat it like a mower not a tractor Slasher and you will do well with it,
details of catcher for this model
