Why do you use a plastic pulley for the drive belt? I had to replace it twice with only 44 hours on the machine. They actually melted causing the belt to come off.

I have an early model z242f that has the 18 HP Kawasaki engine. Great mower but it has the early model one piece seat which cracks in the corners and isn't the best, comfort wise. Can I buy the latter model two piece seat and if so where from.

Why not take it to an upholsterer and you probably will get a better and more softer seat. The wheel diameter is very small and you get a very bumpy ride if there are big weeds n the lawn!

Not a bad idea, that's what I will do, but I do like the design of the new seat, its more comfortable. i do wish the mower had suspension of some sort, its pretty bumpy as you say, but i did change the rear tires for much more aggressively treaded tires that actually do much less damage to the lawn and are run at lower pressure so are more forgiving to my back on the bumps'

Have a 2021 Z242F that I find very fast and easy to use. have done about 100 hrs so far with no problems except with blades bending. I mow 2 1/2 acres with a few rough areas, e.g stump holes. every now and then a front wheel will slip into a depression and the blades dig in and bend. I think there is too much lift on the blades and once they touch the dirt they just keep digging deeper. I have gone through 4 pairs of blades so far. Just purchased a non genuine set with less lift and so far they seem to have fixed the problem but are thinner blades. is it possible to buy genuine blades as thick as the standard ones but with less lift?

The belt for the deck is still a problem and I am presently using an Indian Belt 152 inches costing $84 much cheaper than Husqvarnas. I have channged the type of blade as well. The present belt seems to be holding much better and does seem to slacken off as much and may last longer only time will tell. You cannot run the motor at full revs otherwise the belt goes wild and becomes unstable and wobbling everywhere and will break the belt . Husqvarna have offered no help or compensation. The belt at Bunbury Bearings is $84 and theirs was $120. So I have used the new belt and mulching blades twice for about 10 hours so , so far so good still. I will never buy a Husqvarna ever again. They make amazing motorbikes and chainsaws but a Z242F has a real problem that they should look at but won't. They have never contacted me yet I have questioned another dealer and they know the problem exists. There wasn't one in their shop. Maybe that's how they deal with it. Don't sell them?

Terry, interesting that you have an issue with belts on this model. We have been selling this model for many years in north QLD and no belt issues have been reported. We currently have this model in stock, luckily as stock is hard to come by. Have you contacted Husqvarna Australia directly? The Husqvarna tech team are very helpful, so if your dealer cannot assist you I encourage you to contact them. Could save you a lot of money on belts. Jim

Hi, I was looking for information on how to remove the battery from Husqvarna Zero-Turn Z242F. I want to store it for the winter but can't seem to figure out how to remove it form the mower. There is a metal bar holding the battery in place. I removed the 2 bolts, one on each side but can't seem to remove the bar. What am I doing wrong.

can a carburetter die

Not sure if a carby can die! Depends what's wrong with it? Most carby problems are related to fuel quality / water in fuel / dirt in fuel etc. Sometimes you might get a manufacturing fault but pretty rare. Cheers
