Hello just wondering if any1 has had trouble with there mower sliding on slopes when mowing any1 have any suggestions for me please

Unfortunately this seems to be a trait of zero turn mowers. Careful use of the controls can reduce sliding to some extent if grass is dry but ideally you need to mow up and down slopes rather than across.

Adam the zero turn mower is difficult to steer on a slope I have several places on my property where the front of the mower wants to head down hill. This can be controlled by the steering under normal conditions but when its a bit wet and slippery and the rear wheels loose traction you will loose control, I've had some hairy moments. If I had my time over I wouldn't purchase a zero turn because of the slopping block I live on. That said I'm very pleased with the Raptor its a fabulous mower and I'm very happy with it in every other regard.

Can I sharpen easily the blades myself? If yes how? Thanks.

Happy Gardener

Yes you can sharpen your own blades. Raise the deck to it's highest setting to give you access to the bolt which secures the center of the blade, prevent the blade from turning and with a spanner or socket remove the bolt to release the blade. Sharpen as required and replace. Be careful when sharpening the blade especially with a grinder that you don't overheat the blade and remove the temper in the steel. If you remove the temper it will soften the steel and causing it to become dull more quickly and require sharpening more often. Hope this helps.

I have a 42" sport but am thinking about adding a second mower 42" raptor. Will the bagger i have for the sport fit both?

I'm sorry but I never even knew that this brand of mower even had a bagger. I had to look up what a bagger was.

Apologies,

Tony.

Hi could you please tell me what type of motor you have?

As ive seen them advertise with 21hp and 18hp

Not sure which way to go thanks

Bantam_Pilot

I have a lot of ground to cover but it is short wiry grass which can get thick if you can't get to after rain. Even when 10 cm tall I find that my *18hp* motor blasts through it as easily as a hot knife through butter. Unless you have really tall untamed grass and need the extra power I'd say that 18hp does a mighty fine job and it wouldn't be worth my while to buy a Raptor with a bigger engine. If the cost of the upgrade is only $200 I'd go the bigger engine just because the less work it has to do might make it last a lot longer. Any more than that and I'd just stick with the economical 18hp.
